How can I increase my response rate on LinkedIn? Sales and Selling

How can I increase my response rate on LinkedIn?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 06:53 AM PST

I need some advice on how to increase my response rate through LinkedIn. I started my B2B sales rep role a few months ago but I haven't been getting as many responses as I'd like.

Here's a rough example of what I usually say after connecting:

"Hi ___ thanks for connecting with me. I'd like to send you some information about how similar companies have used ___ to improve their product design and reduce scrappage. [Name drop companies we've helped] I looked at your profile and saw that you specialise in ___ so I think this will be of interest to you."

Then I'll either send them a whitepaper through LinkedIn or ask for their email address so I can send through there. Soemtimes I'll send a minute long YouTube video instead explaining our products, as I always assume they're busy so I try to be as concise as possible. I try my best to make it look like there's an actual human on the other end of the chat rather than a bot that just copies and pastes messages, but I seem to be missing something and I can't figure out what.

If they have a link to a blog or personal site of theirs on their LinkedIn profile, I'll usually check it about and bring it up casually without looking like a stalker. So far, I've only gotten a handful of email addresses but most of the time I get left on read. Honestly, I'd even prefer a "No thank you" instead of being ignored. I know that's just the nature of sales but I feel like I can do much better.

Does anybody have any advice as to how I can improve my response rate? I've tried doing research into the company and the lead I'm talking to and showing them that I've actually done my homework on them, but this still hasn't yielded many results. Any constructive criticism is much appreciated. Thanks.

TL;DR: I've tried doing my homework on the leads I contact and I try to tone down the sales aspect of the conversation and just have a chat where I share helpful resources, but no dice. How can I grab their attention and get responses?

SaaS Solutions Consultant move to Account Executive

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 08:07 AM PST

Has anyone made the move from SC to AE? I'm curious about your experience. I am considering it but curious if the added pressures are worth it. And any skills, books, or any recommendations to building my skills in that new role. I've been a SaaS Solutions Consultant/Sales Engineer for 10+ years serving both Mid-Market and Enterprise markets in my tenure.

And do you think travel will even exist post COVID (hopefully 2-3 years down the line)?

    Secrets in sales

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 12:44 PM PST

Not many people realize these things when it comes working their sales jobs.

1: You can use a teleprompter when giving a demo. I do this all of the time and don't know any other sales person that does this.

2: If you have a meeting with a company/person, put in a fake demo request and speak with a person at the company to learn about what they do so you can get some inside information and control the conversation that you will have with the prospect. You don't say that you spoke to someone at their company, you just phrase questions to get them to say what you uncovered and then you can nail it for a second meeting.

3: Nobody (prospect) cares about you or will remember you - prior to buying from you and after. They only give a shit if what they purchased was worth the money. They will only remember you if you do repeat business with them.

4: Most sales leaders are not any good at selling themselves. Every VP of Sales or Director of Sales that I have worked for that has had selling responsibilities to go with leadership responsibilities, none of them were any better than the top sales reps in the company.

5: If a company has been around for 4 years or more and has fewer than 300 customers for a product that costs less than $12k a year (in some cases less than $1k/year) and is user based for pricing, and the company loves to shout out loud about new deals won on the Monday more meeting and the monthly RR is less than the AE team alone for the monthly salaries, and have over 60 employees, they are actually in the red when it comes to revenue and are only keeping the doors open through investor money that will dry up.

6: Working for companies that received investor money and are ready to build a sales team is where the gold is at.

7: If a company has been around for a few years and the price of the software is above $25k and they have fewer than 30 clients, then it is highly likely the product is not wanted/desired in the market and the price tag doesn't justify the pain points in the market enough to make it worth while for a company to spend that type of money.

    Questions for High Ticket Closers

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 12:37 PM PST

I have a high ticket offer in weight loss space, my plan for this year was to hand over the closing to a closer.

I am uk based with current clients UK but moving into US market.

I have been advised 2 very differing numbers.

10% or 25%, whats the norm?

Also, how many leads would be the ideal for someone a week? Currently calls take about 1 hour and can be quite emotional!

Sales pitch interview - Sandler Sales?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 12:04 PM PST

I have to do a 5 minute sales pitch for an interview for an inside sales job at a tech company. Can be on anything except their product and doesn't require slides or anything. Was thinking I would approach this asking a ton of questions, and close with an ask to provide a proposal.

Further in the job description they discuss the Sandler sales methodology. I'm not very familiar on this and have been trying to do some research. Anyone have any advice on the best way to approach this and integrate the Sandler methodology?

Do the nerves of giving a demo ever go away?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 11:49 AM PST

I got promoted from an SDR to an AE about 2 weeks ago. I've done 1 demo so far last week and I have another one coming up tomorrow.

I'm scared shitless. I'm so anxious today that I'm going to mess it up and not hit my quota.

Anyone with only a HS diploma have any success in any sales industry?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 04:46 PM PST

Also, maybe if you're not a super great tech person either- I have sales experience from stripping, upselling thousands of dollars worth of champagne rooms to wealthy men, but I'm not going to be able to shred my knee joints on stage and give lapdances for my whole life. I've learned to disarm people, to identify their needs and work angles to make whatever I'm selling appear to be the solution, and I've put it to work for me in landing other jobs, even publishing some articles that by all rights, shouldn't have been made, simply by selling the concept of it to my local paper. But I'd like to make it work for me more. I don't have a degree (my college shut down during my stint there and it was for an art degree) and I'm not particularly tech or finance savvy. I can learn, but I don't have the skills under my belt.

What direction would you recommend someone like me to start pushing in? My first thoughts have been commissions at maybe high end jewelry/fashion/designer stores because with my baby-face, I can imagine that while it was an asset in stripping, it is omstly going to work against me in more serious industries.

Trying to use Reference USA to get a list of small b2b companies, but I just am not doing something right

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:03 PM PST

Hey, so I've been trying to get started with customer discovery calls and eventually sales calls. I've been trying to use Reference USA, but I have been unable to find NAICS or SIC code for small b2b SaaS companies. Is there any way I can narrow down my searches on Reference USA to just small b2b SaaS companies and not just a mix of all kinds of different software and IT related businesses? Anyone have experience with Reference USA that might be able to help me?

    First interview for SDR!

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 06:07 PM PST

Hi! I'm doing an interview soon for a saas company and was wondering whether it would be rude to ask about compensation structure on the first interview. The job posting didn't include anything about the compensation structure and on Glassdoor I see base salary, but barely any additional pay posted. Also do you think I would be expecting any questions that goes beyond behavioral questions if the recruiter's title indicates they specialize in recruiting sales? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!!!

    Enterprise sales resume question

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 05:29 PM PST

Long story short, I work in selling to enterprise healthcare providers and insurers taking 12-18 month sales cycles. National lockdowns destroyed my pipeline and I had to start from scratch.

I have deals I progress. My question is, how do you show sales in progress/negation in the resume on the "sales results section"?

TLDR, how do you show on resume you have enterprise deals in play without blatantly stating you closed 0 deals?

    Sales interview prep

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:57 PM PST

    Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the place to post this but..

My flatmate has a second interview for a regional sales job at a cider company.

He has been asked to prepare a 10 minute presentation on apples & pears. This isn't a sales presentation & he's not allowed to use PowerPoint.

Any advice on how he should approach it or the sorts of things the interviewer will be looking for?

    Any advice would be great!

Any hiring or know of someone hiring remote SDRs/BDRs?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:25 PM PST

Hi , little bit about me I've worked in sales at some large companies like Vivid Seats, Yelp, GoHealth, and Trinet .

I've done both B2B and B2C sales and have experience with inbound and outbound sales. Also have experience selling to the c-suite.

Familiar with all modern tech stack and believe in a multi- threaded to prospecting.

Recently relocated to Miami , so looking for remote , but open to relocation down the line.

Buy Contact Data Vs Build (e.g. with Zoom)

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 01:23 PM PST

We frequently get outreached by companies selling data. Like a list of contacts that attended an event, or companies that are using our competitors.

We're a typical SaaS company. We used LinkedIn & Zoom info to build out contacts for a list of target accounts on Salesforce. We don't get a lot of direct dials for the EMEA region which is tough.

Wondering if anyone has bought data externally & if so what the results were?
