I posted before asking about insurance fraud.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 04:49 PM PST

    My original post: Texas

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Insurance/comments/ing8me/is_this_fraud/

After many a great advice I got here on my last post, I have come to both update and ask for further advice.

I said I had not heard from the internal investigator for months until the end of 2020. The investigation had been closed without me ever being updated, informed about what happend or that it had indeed been closed.

Here is the investigators email to me:

"Thank you for your email. We were able to speak to your father and he did confirm that he applied for a life insurance policy for you. This policy has been canceled and the funds were reimbursed back to you via check in in the amount of $26.00 on 8.13.2019. It was found during the review that your father signed the policy application. Our review was sent to management after we completed our review, and they handled the corrective action. They also advised that they sent a close letter for this review. This review has been closed. Thank you for your email and have a great day."

    Here was my responses:

I know that my father applied, but he told me that he was trying to apply making himself the insured and me and my sister the beneficiaries. Did he say during the interview that he applied for me as the insured?

In the statement the agent gave he said that he "forgot to get my signature." How is it that he both forgot to get my signature, but it was signed and it was processed? If he knew that he didnt ever meet me, how was the application processed? I would like a copy of my father's statement.

On the rider, it was signed a diffrent day as a wet signature. That's means that it happened two diffrent occassions. How did he forget twice? Again this happened to my sister so how is this a mistake?

Did you ever find out who the payor was? I believe she is related to the agent.

I never recived a letter or response from the company after October after I was told after out last correspondence I would be. How was the review closed but I wasn't ill informed?

    She responded:

"Per company policy, no records are released regarding reviews conducted by Corporate Investigative Services. However, if you wish to pursue this matter on your own, Corporate Investigative Services will be glad to supply available company documents regarding this matter upon the service of a subpoena duces tecum."

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should move forward? All I really want is to know is who's is at fault and what happend.

Gap Insurance Cancellation?? (Thanks for any help in advance!)

    Posted: 02 Jan 2021 02:22 AM PST

First time poster in r/Insurance here. Just wanted to know what happens to my gap insurance if I no longer need it? Got into an accident a week or two back (wasn't at fault for what it's worth) and my insurance has decided to pay off my car because I have full coverage -

I owe money to my lienholder like I implied so they'll pay off the car of course (my insurance) and I'm even fortunate enough to have a little extra for myself once they pay off my car.

My question is, since I paid for Gap Insurance through my dealership, and my insurance is paying off the vehicle in full, can I get my money back for the gap I bought? I signed what I guess you would call a debt cancellation agreement (looked it up and I found it was a fancy term for Gap in this case...) and read somewhere I could get my money refunded, but I'm not sure if there's any fine print or such (I paid $895 according to my contract apparently) I think the company it was purchased through is called, "Partner's Alliance" if I'm not mistaken.

Sorry if this seems cut and dry/to the point, just wanted to see if anybody would be knowledgeable about it and could help out without me adding any needless details about the accident, just glad my loved ones are safe and I've got no more car payments to be honest...

Located in Los Angeles, California by the way if that helps

Let me know if there's any more info you guys might need, I appreciate any help in advance again- have a Happy New Year everyone!! 🎊🎉🥳 Stay safe

    Insurance witholding information?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2021 02:20 AM PST

    Hi folks!

I got into a minor accident and a police report was filed and we both informed our insurance about the accident. The other party informed me that when they spoke to their insurance, the outcome of the accident was determined to be 50/50 at fault. They mentioned their insurance company (Cooperators) told them this without them opening a claim.

I contacted my insurance company (Meloche Mon ex) to find out the outcome of the accident and was told that I needed to open a claim to be able to find out what the outcome was. Without opening a claim, they would not tell me the outcome.

Unless the other party is lying, I'm confused as to why my insurance company won't tell me the outcome when theirs did? Hoping for some more clarity on this!

Also, a few other questions I had were:

    1. If I'm determined to be 25% at fault, will my premiums still increase if I go through insurance?
    2. Now that my insurance has been notified of the accident, even if I don't file a claim, can they still raise my premium?

    Location: Hamilton, Ontario

    Thanks in advance!

Need help for dad with ruptured brain aneurysm

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 12:42 PM PST

My dad's BlueCross BlueShield insurance was supposed to renew on Dec 15. And on that exact date he had a ruptured brain aneurysm. He was unable to switch insurances from BlueCross BlueShield to Meridian. He is being moved from the ICU to rehab now. BlueCross BlueShield is unable to cover for his rehab and they want to transfer him elsewhere from the hospital he is now. In the hospital he is now they have specialized neurosurgeons. We called the social worker and she said that unfortunately we can't switch the insurance from BlueCross BlueShield to Meridian because my dad didn't make the change before the deadline. I am frustrated because my dad had a ruptured brain aneurysm on that day, how was he supposed to do that? If anyone can help me figure out how to keep my dad with this hospital's rehab instead of moving him elsewhere, I'd very much appreciate it.

We live in Skokie. My dad is going to a hospital in Chicago. I don't want to be too specific as to where we are located, maybe I can be if the conversation is moved to messages.

looking for tips on advocating for the value of my car when dealing with insurance.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:48 PM PST

Hello. I got T-boned and my car was totaled on christmas eve. The other driver's insurance just accepted liability for the accident. I'm wondering how best to deal with them when discussing the value of my car. I rebuilt the transmission a month ago ($2k) have owned it for 5 years and have meticulously maintained it. BUT it's 15 years old. If I was able to purchase the same car again for blue book value (if that's even possible) it would possibly/probably need a couple of grand in repairs to make it as solid and reliable as the car that I lost. If this is something that I can communicate to the person that is dealing with my claim, what is the best way to go about doing it?

    I'm in Colorado btw

Water leak from bottom of sink - Dyson Hairdryer

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 10:28 PM PST

    Hey Insurance Sub,

Just discovered a small leak from my bathroom sink that dripped water onto the electrical plug of my wife's Dyson Hairdryer - there's water all in it, and we've done our best to remove as much as we could.

Does this type of damage usually get covered under home insurance? I looked at my Farmer's home insurance policy, but couldn't find a case for this.

thanks in advance for the help!

My Girlfriend has two full time jobs and wants to leave the one she's insured with.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 09:40 PM PST

My girlfriend has been working 70-80 hours a week. It's really taking a toll on her and she wants to quit the one she has insurance with because she hates it and her future is with her other job. The problem is she was recently diagnosed with Lupus and really needs good health insurance. She can get insurance with her other job but their enrollment period isn't until October. If she were to quit that job what would be the best option for her?

    Edit: We're in California

Should I submit a claim on a fender bender or am I better off shopping around for repair quotes?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 08:50 PM PST

I'm sure this must be a frequent question here, but I'm a very new driver and unfortunately, I have hit a handrail and created a little bit of a fender bender (if I'm even using that term correctly). I'm fairly certain it's not minor, but I'm sure it's not a major damage either.

Full disclosure, I was not drunk when it occurred -- I was in a rush because I had to get to another appointment and backed into the said handrail rather than accelerating forward. The handrail was stronger than the car's frame, so the car got rekt and now I can't sleep trying to figure out a solution for it. No authorities were called to the scene as no property and vehicles (except mine) was damaged. The back-left end of my car is rekt, but I'm very certain the gas tank was not even punctured. There was a little bit of a difficulty (aka a lot of power/pressure) when shutting the trunk close.

As I've said, I'm a fairly new driver, so I haven't had claims before but my insurance premiums are fairly high. Part of the anxiety comes from if insurance would cover it and if my premiums are certain to skyrocket (which, at this point, I have accepted). I have asked a friend how much they thought the repair would cost and they estimated it'd be 3 to 4 grand (of which I can't just shit out of nowhere). They suggested it'd be better to shop around for repair quotes, but if my insurance premium is just gonna move up by 1 or 2 grand in the following year, I think I'd rather put it on my insurance than find 3 to 4 grand somewhere.

So, would it be wiser to not put it on my insurance and just crack my savings to repair the car? How would putting in an insurance claim affect me in the long run? I don't plan on selling this car since I bought it used and fully paid it off. I don't know if it's fine for me to post pictures here, but if it is, I'll edit the link onto this post

California- is my primary job where I was injured required to pay lost wages of my second job?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 09:28 AM PST

I work one full time job as a floor nurse in a California hospital and a second part time job doing critical care transport with an ambulance company. I was injured at the hospital yesterday after a confused patient hurt me (back/ shoulder injury) I filled out the workers comp paperwork and was seen at urgent care where I was placed on modified duty. I notified my second job and was told they wouldn't provide modified duty and that I'll be off the schedule until I'm fully cleared. Is my hospital job required to cover my lost wages from the ambulance job until I'm fully cleared? Also can the ambulance job refuse to provide modifications? I'm limited on pushing and pulling and lifting, I told them I felt I could still safely work that I'll just get extra hands to move patients to and from the gurney when we're at different facilities but they told me they don't provide modified work.

    Should I buy dental insurance?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 02:13 PM PST

Covered California has a dental plan for about $45 premium. I think I might need some dental work in the future, but $45 premiums seems a little high. Is this a normal?

In network emergency hospital, out of network physician

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 06:06 PM PST

I had a toe dislocation, was in extreme pain. All nearby urgent care centers were closed for national holiday (USA). Rushed to emergency care center in network. Filled all paperwork, got a big bill. Insurance covered some of the hospital charges, rejected the physician charges since he was out of network. At no point was this explained or disclosed during treatment. Insurance noted in the EOB that many other charges were excessive and they were denied. Bill includes ECG etc, which was never done. What are my options? I am facing several thousand dollars worth of expenses for a quick hour treatment in a covered hospital

    Help choosing health plan

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 01:31 PM PST

I'm having trouble with this because all of the posts I see refer to the PPO plans as high premium. However, my PPO premium is much much cheaper than the HDHP. I have no idea how to decide which makes more sense for me. I'm seeking the help of people more knowledgeable than myself. I am in PA (U.S.)Here's the deal:

    PPO

    Monthly premium - $33.24

    Deductible - $900

    OOP Max - $4050

Coinsurance is 20% and copays are pretty average(preventive $0, pcp $30, specialist $60, urgent care $50)

    HDHP/ HSA

    Monthly premium - $101.54

    Deductible - $1850

    OOP Max - $3500

    Coinsurance is 10%

    Employer contribution $1000

As for myself, 25yo female with no real health conditions. I have anxiety but am currently not seeing a therapist. I don't take any medications. I have a history of some musculoskeletal issues that may require a few trips to the chiropractor. I also have a knee condition that may at some point require an mri and specialist visit. I am otherwise healthy. I don't plan on going to the doctor more than once or twice other than preventive care visits. I have no idea how to compare these when the premiums are so much higher for what should technically be a lower premium plan. Any insight? Thanks in advance!!

Edited to correct the OOP max for the PPO plan

    Acquiring State Insurance License

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 12:39 PM PST

I was approached by Primerica about joining their company, and they offered to cover costs to get the required licensing to pursue this field. I currently reside In Alabama and will attempt to get the proper licensing in the state.

My concern with this company is their MLM structure and the restrictions if I were to seek other employment opportunities using the approrpiate licensing. I've worked for a marketing agency with a similar structure, the only difference being my former job was a full-time position, where as, Primerica starts off as part time.

I've taken in account the risks that come with a job like this and came the conclusion that, if possible, I would like primerica to pay for my L&H, SIE, Series 6 & 63 exams, then make an ultimate decision to either continue with primerica or seek other agencies. By law, am I allowed to obtain the proper licensing through the State of Alabama with primerica then immediately leave the company?

Really bad speeding ticket out of state

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 12:19 PM PST

I have Liberty Mutual car insurance with a New York State license- I got a speeding ticket going 96 in a 65 (ridiculous I know) in New Jersey. The officer told me to just plead guilty and pay the fine. From what I've read on the NYS DMV, the points do not transfer onto your license from out of state. My question is, will my insurance rate go up?

What insurance do I need, if any, if I am driving someone else's car regularly in CA?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 08:17 AM PST

If I do not have my own car, but drive someone else's in my household (when I need to, which is barely ever anymore due to the pandemic), what levels of insurance do I need, if any, to make sure I and they are covered in CA? They have pretty decent coverage on their car. Currently, I have a non-owner's policy that is coming to about $125 every 6 months. Nothing astronomical, but just wondering if it's necessary.

Hesitant to make a claim on home for water damage

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:04 AM PST

Hello. I live in Colorado Springs, CO (El Paso County) My kids were playing in the 2nd floor bathroom sink for approx. 1 hour before I got to them. There was water all over the floor and in the drawers and into the hallway carpet about 2 feet. I cleaned it up yesterday and it has since dried. I went into the basement and there was some water puddling in a few spots. Presumably from this incident, it has since dried. But, my wife is paranoid that there is permanent water damage to the interior walls, basically anything interior. I am hesitant to make a claim because I don't want it on "my record" ie. increase rates, etc., if its not that bad. But, also I'm not denying there could be permanent damage that could be worse in the long run. What would you do?

Car insurance increased by 30% for no new reason in 2020

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 08:43 AM PST

I want to understand why car insurance can go up from $2500 to $3500 in 2020. 2019 Honda Civic F/43 no at fault accidents, speeding tickets, etc.

    Ontario living in Mississauga

The car was leased in 2019 so this is not the change in 2020. The premium increased by a few dollars in the remainder of 2019.

However, we found out that there is 1 accident that was considered 50% at fault 5-years ago. No claim to insurance. Neither the police or insurance ever said anything to us. We thought it was other parties fault hence why we reported. Note: things like this will actually discourage us to report accidents. Penalized for doing what we thought was right.

Our broker tells us staying with current insurer is still the cheapest because of that accident, no one will offer a lower premium. There other explanation is that it went up for everyone and everyone is complaining. We spoke to all our family and friends about it and no one experienced this increased and think our situation is nuts.

Disclosure: M45 cancelled car insurance because no longer has a car. Has car and insurance through employer. Stayed on personal policy as occasional driver. Also clean record.

We have tried to keep our record perfectly clean. Because someone else hit us (I don't give a f@CK what is predetermined) we are in this situation. Yes, we are pissed.

We not only have our home insurance with same broker and insurer, we added to policy for extra protection in 2019 to a tune of $600 additional. We thought they would like us more. Fair to say all our loyalty is now gone (over 25 years).

    Anyone have any suggestions?
