Can I form a LLC at 16 in a different state other than the one I reside in.

    Posted: 02 Jan 2021 01:57 AM PST

I currently live in a state that requires you to be 18 to form a LLC, since the business I would want to create would be entirely online, could I just form a LLC in another state that allows 16 year olds to form a LLC?

What does a pre-seed investor look for when assessing an early stage startup?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2021 01:06 AM PST

As the title suggests, what does an angel investor or VC look for when investing in a pre-seed startup who doesn't have a product in market and has zero revenue to date.

For some context, I am one of these companies, however do have a technical team to assist with the MVP build, advisors in the relevant field and have a small payable client interested in my POC.

Paid ZenBusiness to form an LLC last night, but learned my address won't be private.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 05:46 PM PST

I had been planning on forming my first LLC for liability protections on New Years Eve. I signed up for the basic, slowest package on ZenBusiness at midnight. I had made the purchase based on the incorrect belief that their registered agent service would protect my privacy, but it seems that in my state, that is not the case. I went and registered a virtual mailbox in San Diego, and used that address after already paying.

ipostal1.com didn't disclose upon signup/payment that I'll need to submit a USPS Form 1583. I had to move recently due to renovations on my previous apartment unit, so my government issued ID's address is out of date, although it is not expired. So I'll need to schedule an appointment with DMV to get a new ID with the updated address, which is a bit of an issue for me due to the pandemic. Because of this, I won't be able to access any mail sent to the address I submitted to ZenBusiness to form my LLC.

ZenBusiness takes 11-14 days to form the LLC, and they have been out of the office due to the federal holidays. I will be contacting them Sunday, the second their customer support phone lines are open, but I am wondering if I will be able to cancel the formation. They do have a "worry-free" refund guarantee, but I am wondering if they submit everything automatically to the state, even if they are out of office.

Yes, mistakes were made. And yes, lessons were learned. But I took quick action to try to rectify things. It's been less than 24 hours.

Business Whizzes of Reddit: what would you consider a significant cost advantage?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 02:34 PM PST

I have a business idea for a service where my main reason for wanting to start the business is that I think I can provide the service at roughly 30% less than competing businesses. The cost savings is derived from a fairly simple technology change but competitors will be unlikely to scrap their current equipment and just copy me immediately.

My question is do you think a 30% baseline cost reduction is a solid enough foundation to start a business on?

    Thanks

CA LLC - Virtual Mailbox question

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 02:26 PM PST

I am planning on forming an LLC in California. I am using ZenBusiness, which includes a Registered Agent service. However, they asked me for a mailing address and principal business address. I value my privacy, so I looked into a virtual mailbox service. I have seen this suggested by many people. I also live in an apartment complex, and don't think the new ownership would be happy if I used my address here to form a business.

The business is affiliate marketing with social media advertising. Am I basically screwed and forced to remain in poverty, or will this method allow me to make some money so I don't have to live in an apartment anymore?
