Small cap stocks tend to outperform mid and large cap historically. What are some of your favorites?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 05:54 PM PST

It's easier for a $700m company to double than a $200b company. Therefore it's in your best interest to have a decent amount of exposure to them. The biggest hurdle with many small caps is getting people to pay attention. Wall street generally disregards them because there isnt enough reporting on them. They aren't well followed or well researched so this creates opportunity when it comes to mispricing. Here are some of my favorites that I'm heavily invested in. What small caps do you see becoming mid caps in a few years? (Anything under $5 is a penny stock and I just can't be a part of that).

These first two have really paid off. Their price has done nothing but rise for months. The next few are the ones I'm expecting big things from at some point.

    Xpel (XPEL)

They make automotive surface protection and grow like a SaaS company. They've doubled in the last few months and at the rate they grow there's no reason to believe they won't double again in the next year.

    SiTime (SITM)

Only Company to Offer MEMS Resonators, Oscillators and Clocks to Cover Entire Timing Market. The stock price shows just how much faith people have in this company.

    QuinStreet (QNST)

An online performance marketing company, provides customer acquisition services for its clients. Solid fundamentals. Solid growth. Finally recovering from a 2018 article that said to short them after talking to disgruntled ex-employees. The stock had quadrupled at the time so it was a prime target.

    Systemax (SYX)

While revenue and earnings have continued to rise, the share price has not kept up. At one point their p/e was over 100. Their forward p/e is now just 17 and their peg ratio is an even 1. Undervalued companies dont stay this way forever, just ask EBIX.

    Nexpoint Real Estate Finance (NREF)

Not to be confused with Nexpoint Residential Trust, this is one of my favorites. Barely a $100m market cap, this undiscovered gem has been performing well recently. The dividend is a whopping 8% of its share price.

    Primoris Services (PRIM)

A contractor that engineers and constructs everything from solar projects to bridges to runways to pipelines. Possibly the most undervalued stock in the entire market. Bidens infrastructure plans will help these guys immensely.

    Bonanza Creek Energy (BCEI)

I usually stay away from anything oil but this is what a well run energy company looks like. Industry analysts recently upgraded their revenue forecasts by 48%. EPS is expected to rise 60%.

Here is a Market Recap for today Monday, December 7, 2020. Please enjoy!

    PsychoMarket Recap - Monday, December 7, 2020

Stocks performed mixed today, with the S&P and Dow Jones pulling back while the tech-heavy Nasdaq set a new record high intraday. In the last two trading sessions, the three major indices each recorded new record-highs, with market participants optimistic of a relatively quick rollout of a vaccine and additional fiscal stimulus.

Last Friday, the Labor Department released their November jobs report, which showed the slowest pace of job growth since April's record spike in unemployment. Non-farm payrolls grew by just 245,000, much lower than the 460,000 expected. The deceleration in recovery is likely due to the record spike in infections recently and the reimposition of certain restrictions across the United States. In an effort to support the economy, a bipartisan group of Senators unveiled a new stimulus proposal worth $908 billion, a sum greater than the ceiling Senate Leader Mitch McConnel (Rep.) set but below the Democrat's original $2 billion proposal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Dem.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (Dem.) have indicated they support the proposal and Senator Bill Cassidy (Rep.) told Fox News he is confident the President and Senator McConnell will support the bill. We'll have to wait and see how it plays out but we do not expect the passage of any stimulus at least until Biden's administration takes over.

Looking ahead, market participants will continue to eagerly follow developments on the coronavirus vaccine. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to convene its outside scientific advisory board on Thursday to discuss Pfizer's (PFE) emergency use authorization request for its vaccine. The advisors could vote as soon as that day whether to recommend that the FDA green-light the inoculation and allow the first phase of roll-outs to states. Moderna (MRNA) has also filed an emergency use authorization with the FDA. The FDA is expected to make an announcement about Moderna's vaccine sometime this week as well.

Despite countless calls from health officials and politicians to stay home for Thanksgiving. According to the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA), an estimated 10 million people traveled in an airplane in the week of Thanksgiving, most likely to visit family members. It seems we are now paying the consequences, with new infections, hospitalizations, and deaths reporting several new records last week. However, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease expert in the United States, says the full impact of Thanksgiving gatherings hasn't been seen yet. He said, "The blip from Thanksgiving isn't even here yet. So we're getting those staggering numbers of new cases and hospitalizati0ns before we even feel the full brunt of the Thanksgiving holiday". The US is nearing an average of 200,000 new daily infections. As of Sunday, there were On Sunday, there were 173,457 new infections, 101,487 hospitalized patients, the fifth consecutive day the US surpassed 100,000 hospitalizations, and 1,111 deaths (thankfully lower than the 2,800 a few days ago).

Funny story, I sold my Tesla stocks at 750 (pre split) thinking it was high. Last week I did the same with Tesla being 540. Can this thing even go down? Use this post as a discussion point

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 08:41 AM PST

So yes basically as the title says. I never lost money on it, just always that hindsight because the profit could be so much higher.

Still I think it was a big risk and profit is profit :). How are your positions?

What are your plans for AIRBNB?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 06:50 AM PST

Will you be buying AIRBNB ipo? What do you think of the $44-$50 stock value? Do you think it the stock will drop more due to more lockdowns? Should I buy on IPO day or wait a week or two for a dip?

$10k to invest. Should I wait until the next dip? Or do it now?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 05:45 PM PST

I have some money to invest. First time investor. I know a lot of analysts are saying that a potential slight market correction is coming and then things will probably even out. (Some are saying a crash is coming, but I won't go there).

Right now in Dec 2020 is it better to hold onto cash until a market correction within the next months or just go ahead? Normally I wouldn't ask this type of question, but we're in a really weird moment in time.

(I do plan on investing in airbnb when it goes public, but besides that I'm not sure if I should just wait for everything else. )

    What would YOU do?

I have $1,050 to invest. Where do I put it?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 02:58 PM PST

I'm on Ameritrade, this is my second go at this. I was fairly successful on Stockpile, but I decided I wanted to use a better app.

Going for mid-high risk stocks. Will be adding money when I can.

Any suggestions on where to put my money? Looking at nio, Tesla, apple, ect.

    Thanks in advance!

The NightBear Cometh! ??? "Civil War

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 08:35 PM PST

I noted this morning my skepticism of the Market at this time.

So I thought it interesting when I read Ray Dalio Now Fretting About Civil War:

    • "You can have a better future if you put deferred gratification ahead of immediate gratification"

    • "The United States is at a tipping point in which it could go from manageable internal tension to revolution and/or civil war."

    • "To be clear, I am not saying that the United States or other countries are inevitably headed that way; however, I am saying that now is an especially important time to know and watch the markers in order to understand the full range of possibilities for the period ahead."

    • "The lessons and warnings of history are clear if one looks for them, most people don't look for them because most people learn from their experiences and a single lifetime is too short to give them those lessons and warnings that they need."

What do Most People on r/Stockmarkets think about Ray's words I wonder?

1 year taxes vs short term

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 07:47 PM PST

I cannot find the answer to my question anywhere hopefully one of you can help.

Let's say , for example, i started with 30k. Bought VISA and made 20k. Sitting at 50k now (20k profit) but i re-invest a couple days later the entire 50k and get on BOEING and profit 20k on that.. now sitting 70k. sale BOEING, and mind you i never pull completely out of my etrade account i just sale. so now i am at 40k profit. I then buy a safe ETF until my 1 year comes due to pull out for long term taxes. will they tax my 40k long term or short term?

How do I avoid a huge loss if my stock receives bad news during off-hours?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 05:16 PM PST

HI there, fairly new to investing and I feel like this is a topic that is not widely discussed. What if a stock you own gets terrible news during off-hours and a mass sell-off occurs during pre/post market? If I wait until the market opens to sell I would have already taken a huge loss. So how does one avoid this? Is the answer simply to put a Stop Limit order in?? Do most investors create a safety valves like this to avoid getting trounced before the markets open?

    Investing/Trading Help for a Teenager

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 07:06 AM PST

Hey guys! So I'm currently working on an investing simulation on Investopedia and need help with short-term trading and day trading. Would also love advice for long-term investing for my own personal real portfolio.

So to start with my personal real portfolio, started it early this year and currently at +85.66% with about 20K invested. Portfolio currently consists of Apple, Amazon, Costco, Disney, Netflix, Nvidia, Starbucks, Square, and Twilio. Might look to invest some more, would it be recommended to buy some more shares of the same stock?

For the Investopedia simulator I only have 1-2 months left of the semester. Given an $100K budget I spent about 15K each on Amazon, Tesla, Apple, Starbucks and CRM. Now I'm looking to do some short term and day trading. Just purchased 5K into FedEx and Paypal today, so I have a decent amount around 15K left for daytrading. The problem is I have no knowledge on how to do it, how to look at what stocks might be good, when to sell based on profit/loss, etc. Any advice/resources would be greatly appreciated!

    Discussion: ImmunoPrecise Antibodies $IPA

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 07:06 AM PST

    Serious question?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 10:54 AM PST

I'm holding PLTR 12/18 $30c and 12/31 $35c. Obviously, I got caught rolling forward when it went crazy almost 2 weeks ago.

My question is, (learning about options, admittedly) should I try to minimize my loss and sell them while they are still worth anything? Or should I hold and hope, though most likely they will expire worthless. It's not like anyone is going to buy OTM calls...

    Capitalism is turning into communism

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 02:24 PM PST

What I find fun today is that money printing has become the rule as well as granting huge debt amounts to individuals, companies and investors. In the end everything will be debt held by central banks and the world economies will be state owned. From capitalism to communism ;-)
