    SALARY ADVICE Sales and Selling

    SALARY ADVICE Sales and Selling

    SALARY ADVICE

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:53 AM PST

I don't know if this has been spoken about before but I can definitely use the help.

So I started a new role recently and I just got a coworker to the sales team.

I just found out he gets paid 20k more than I. I work the east coast and she works San Francisco.

She also came in with 3 years of tech sales while I have 1 in tech but 4 sales.

I took the margin and sucked it up since I thought this guy would be badass and that those 3 years made sense for experience and that San Francisco had a higher cost of living.

But now, a couple months in, she's always asking for my help and asking for my processes, often saying she likes my methods and copying them.

At first, I didn't mind helping her, but now, knowing her pay, I try to back off.

I really haven't learned anything from them at all.

How can I talk to HR to equal my pay of 40 k to their 60k. Can I tell them she told me her pay and that I'm doing more than them?

Seriously bumming me out. I feel like a God damn team lead and I'm getting under paid?

I'm a bit discouraged and ticked off but I like my job and don't want to lose it if I can make up the gap in commission.

Still tho, I just think I'm worth the 60 and then imagining the commission from that point and not 40k. It's like fuk that.

    Any advice helps.

    New Grad- Offer from McKesson

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 11:11 AM PST

Just graduated college, and I've just received an offer from McKesson as an Inside Sale Rep. It's a development position and their plan is to promote us to Account Executives after a year. Base 48k, OTE around 80. Anyone with experience with McKesson, or medical inside sales in general? Is this OTE likely? I was told most reps are hitting their goals...just curious as to what to expect working inside sales for such a large firm. Thanks!

How to sell for a company with a “blemished” reputation?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 10:54 AM PST

In light of the recent exploitation of companies like SolarWinds and FireEye, and the subsequent hit to their reputation, I'd like to hear your thoughts on how to continue selling for a company that has a recently "blemished" record.

How do you work through the inevitable questions brought up by potential customers?

Do you continue on with the company even though it may mean a hit to your numbers?

Does the mindset shift from "hunter" to "healer"? Working to retain current customers at the cost of winning new ones?

I only use SolarWinds and FireEye as an example. Obviously this could happen to any company.

I am looking for a user friendly personal CRM that is cloud based with iOS app. There are a ton of them out there I know just want something to keep track of my b2b interactions. Thanks!!

Screening with Sales Recruiter - tips on what to expect

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:28 PM PST

This is my first time getting a screening for a sales position so I'm pretty nervous for what questions will be thrown at me. I think the obvious ones would be what the company does, my background, and interest in the role. Do you all have any additional questions you've encountered in the initial screening before meeting with the hiring manager? Any and all advice would be great, thank you!

    Business Development Interview

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:03 PM PST

I'm a recent college grad and have a final interview coming up at a large Software company. As part of the final interview I have a 10 minute "teach me something" presentation. They're looking for something creative that shows strategic thinking and persuasion. I have a couple ideas for this. One idea that goes over a marketing concept I learned in college and another that would cover the value prop of a program I sold in my last internship, so I would essentially be selling them on a product that includes software.

I'm leaning more towards and sales approach for the "teach me something" as it could demonstrate some skills needed for the job.

I'm looking for any input or advice you guys could provide as it'll be greatly appreciated!

    Negotiating Storage cost for CRM

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:44 PM PST

Hi all. Want to understand how the whole storage costing works when buying a CRM plan from a large vendor (SF, Pipe, Hubspot, Zoho etc)...is it normal to be charged $2000+/year for 500MB ?! Do vendors charge for storage or for contacts for sales plans ? Has anyone paid for storage/contacts? Any information on this will help

I made the call and it's ringing.... Now what?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:07 PM PST

I am tasked with making 100+ calls per day.

Each no answer call takes about 30 seconds to ring(I get over 80% no answer)...

What do you do during those 30 seconds??

As it stands right now I just browse reddit and instagram to fill up my time... The problem is that, they are both very distracting and lead me to making post like this literally while I'm working.

I also spend about 5 seconds dispositioning of the outcome of each call on salesforce.

I used to play candy crush since it's easy to pick up and put down within those 25 seconds but now I'm bored of it...

What else can you do to fill up your time while the phone is ringing??

Staring at a wall and doing nothing for 25secs x 100calls is not an option.... Maybe it is? Tell me how??

Dealing with someone who wasn't originally part of the deal

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:43 PM PST

Hello everyone! I'm new to this thread and kind of new to the world of sales. I work as a loan officer for a credit union in town and I ran into a situation where i spoke to a gentleman regarding a loan and as part of the process i am to offer our insurance products to protect the loan and the member ( and us) from loss. Everything ran smooth with the deal and my person was approved but when i called to let him know he got approved his wife got involved and basically made a mess of things. Per BSA i am not legally entitled to speak to her and basically she made him take the protections off this loan. My question would be how do you deal with situations like that? Any feed back or ways this could have panned out better? I'll take all the help i can get

Questions related to trading companies and sales

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:25 PM PST

Hello Sales community on Reddit, I'm Nelson from Taiwan. I'm in sales for a comprehensive trading company based in China. I've lived in Canada for a few years and recently moved back to Asia. I don't have much experience in the industry and it's also my first time posting so please bear with me.

A trading company is essentially a middleman between manufacturers and distributors. We provide sourcing, procurement, product inspection and quality control on virtually any product for the distributer.

It's honestly a great service and I am confident for the company I work for as they have been doing this for a long time with a great track record.

I've been sending cold emails to online stores and various distribution source (Home depot for example) in North America, Europe, Sweden and New Zealand but have not heard back from anyone.

    Here are my questions:

I want to create a more effective system and try different approaches but don't know where to start. I'm sure the people at these organizations get hundreds of emails a week. How can I break through the noise virtually?

-What's the appropriate name for a company like this called when telling others about it?

-Any Suggestion or recommendations on articles to read or sources to check out that would be beneficial?

    Thank you in advance,

    Nelson
