[Update]: I finally became a guardian to my adult cousin!

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 07:55 AM PST

Update to my post about my cousin Jimmy. First of all, warm thanks to all the people who checked on us. I'm here to share good news.

I finally got guardianship of my cousin after a hearing with a judge. It was a tedious process with lots of paperwork but it worked in the end. I hired a lawyer who was very helpful.

Jimmy and I received visits from social services and doctors to evaluate him. Jimmy was not really happy with this as talking to people he doesn't know gives him anxiety, but he did his best. He was formally evaluated for his disability, which had not been done since he was a kid. The social workers determined, as I had, that he couldn't stay in his home, but they agreed that he was safe with me. I was afraid they would remove him but they were really helpful and agreed that the best place for him is with me. He will also be receiving services from the state which will be a good thing, especially for his access to health care.

We finished renovating a room with a bathroom and a little kitchen for him in my house, this way he lives with me but he has privacy when he wants to be alone. He worked hard with me on this project and we're both quite happy with the result. He seems to have accepted that he couldn't spend his nights at his house anymore. We built a chicken coop and brought his chickens to my property (it was quite fun transporting 11 chickens in a pick-up truck). He has also started to do some gardening and he helps me around the house. The house I'm renovating was in a very poor state so there's no shortage of work to be done. Jimmy keeps himself busy and he gets to exercise as much as he needs so he's feeling well. I still drive him to his house regularly so he can fish in the creek and hike on the paths he knows. We're exploring the nature near my home so he can find new places to hike.

On a side note we finally found Jimmy's birth certificate, with great difficulty because he was registered under his mother's maiden name and with a different first name. From what I heard from the few people who knew his parents when they were young, they didn't trust the government and came to live on an isolated farm to not be bothered by anyone. It looks like they tried to "hide" their son's birth by registering him under another name. It might have looked like a good idea at the time, but it certainly didn't help us.

Anyway I'm quite pleased with the way the situation turned out, Jimmy now has a safe place to stay and someone to take care of him and he looks happy with his new life.

After I filed for divorce my wife filed in another state, because she wants a better deal, can I fight this?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 09:06 PM PST

Am I able to fight my soon to be Ex-wife filing for divorce in a different state than we live in so she could get a better deal? I started the process to get a divorce. I've been married to my wife for almost 5.5 years. We were in a domestic partnership for 3 years before we got married. We have been in a relationship for almost 9.5 years. I'm divorcing her because she's pregnant. I'm a woman and we didn't do IVF or anything like that, she's been having an affair. We live in Georgia so I filed here. She was staying with her affair partner.

But less than a week after she was served she filed for divorce in Washington. It's because she wants a better deal. Washington doesn't have fault divorce and has community property. Additionally Washington doesn't use martial fault when determining alimony. Georgia has fault divorce which I filed under because she cheated. Georgia doesn't do community property and in Georgia the law stops alimony if the other person cheated. She says she can get child support from me because we're married but I'm not sure about that. Our residence and one of our vehicles was owned by me before we met and my name is the only one on them. The other vehicle is also only in my name and was bought just before our domestic partnership. I worked while she freelanced/did a hobby that never generated money. I paid for everything from my pay. I have a lot to lose if the divorce happens in Washington instead of here. I know I will have to split what is in the savings but the rest won't be as bad here in Georgia. We were both born here and have never lived anywhere else. I don't even understand how she could file in Washington. She was here in Georgia when she was served after I filed and she filed again in Washington less than a week later.

[Maryland]Attacked by neighbor’s dog during work furlough, and could not return to the job when called because of it. I was terminated 8 months shy of my 30 year mark, and lost what would have been my full pension.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 11:40 AM PST

The attack left me needing surgeries to repair my torn ear, nose and mouth, as well as an ACL tear and a severed tendon in my calf.

Days after having surgery on my calf, I was called back to work unexpectedly soon, and I couldn't return. My employer was understanding of the situation, but after a few weeks, they terminated me and hired someone else. As the title states-I was 8 months shy of the 30 year mark, and I planned to retire at that point with my full pension.

FMLA was used, but I had used most of it earlier this year when my husband had a stroke. I had nowhere near enough time left for my own recovery.

I am already planning to sue the dog owners for my injuries, but I would like to know if my loss of the full pension is something that I can recover in court. I am in the process of choosing a lawyer, but haven't picked one yet. I am incredibly stressed over this new development and was hoping for some immediate insight.

Landlord will not clean up adjacent apartment where woman died over a YEAR ago

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 01:30 AM PST

I am at my wit's end and don't know who to contact. Backstory: my neighbor died in her apartment in November of 2019. It was one-two weeks before her body was found in her living room, so of course there is an unpleasant and very smelly stain on the carpet. In the meantime, her dog and cat peed and pooped all over the unit (both animals were recovered alive FYI). The whole unit is a disgusting biohazard.

My landlord already has a reputation as a slum lord. With this, she absolutely will not clean it up. I have asked over and over when the unit will be cleaned, and she dismissively says "soon." Meanwhile, she actually rented out the other adjacent unit to a family with a baby without telling them what was next door!

Can anybody please tell me who to contact to get her to clean this up this biohazard?

    I'm in Michigan.

My yard has been vandalized since before the election after putting up a Biden sign, several times a week. I set up surveillance, and I now have good evidence

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 04:18 PM PST

MASSACHUSETTS The vandal technique is a high speed drive-by from a dump truck. They throw various forms of trash, including bags of used toilet paper that scatter across the yard, milk jugs, kitchen garbage, and every once in a while, something more sinister: glass jars filled with screws and metal bits.

After much experimentation and a lot of trial and error, I have good video evidence connecting the same dump truck to several of these events. They are very regular and once I had things positioned correctly, it was easy to collect the video showing how they do this.

The problem is that this takes place in the dark, normally between 5-6am. While I am able to get good supporting evidence on the cam with the night vision, I can't definitely identify the truck- I can't read the license place without very expensive equipment and the night vision is not able to pick up any logos or other unique identifying aspects of the truck. I have no doubt, however it's the same truck; the light marker pattern is unique and correlates perfectly from one incident to another, and the drive by happens on a very regular interval.

So, I'm considering setting up a stakeout since I'll no doubt be able to see them coming, flip my lights on after they have passed, and tail them for a bit to gather additional evidence.

But, I get worried thinking of doing this; they are obviously unstable to begin with and I don't know what kind of behavior this may trigger if they realize they have been caught.

The police are aware of this and suggested the surveillance, but, given the political affiliations of my local dept I don't have high confidence they will follow through with this, especially without the definitive evidence. Maybe I'm the paranoid one, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if whomever is doing this is well connected with the local police force.

    Any advice for this situation?

Edit: to be clear, the signs have been down since a few days post election but the behavior continues. Also worth noting- this is a state highway; the truck is probably traveling 40+mph when it passes.

Tenant pretty much up and vanished over 2 years ago, now they are demanding their stuff back along with all sorts of legal threats. Today they called a police officer who gave vague statements that what i did was most likely illegal. Very confused.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 01:25 AM PST

I inherited a pair of condo (quasi townhomes?) units from a family member, this condo unit was being rented out to someone I will call Sarah. I moved into one of them (they are next to each other), and she lived in the other one. I did my job as a landlord, and she told me she was planning on moving out by the end of the year, so i just let her rent until then.

In July of 2017 she disappeared. I ended up texting her in August asking about the rent, etc and got no response. I tried calling her as well only to find her number was no longer in service. I was kind of worried, so i called the police and basically gave them the information I had.

They did a wellness check and for the first time ever I go to see the interior of the unit, and yikes. She was a hoarder, and we found 3 dead cats along with a very unhappy snake (he was alive).

Long story short in 2018 i had her evicted legally, the only response i got from the police was that she is fine, but will not be returning to her unit anytime soon. The unit was filthy, and i had people professionally clean it. I put whatever was salvageable into a storage unit in the middle of 2018, and sold the condo in September of 2018.

That was the last I heard of it until this weekend. Sarah showed up at my doorstep pretty much demanding:

    • Why doesn't her key work
    • Where are her animals
    • Where is her car (i really don't have an answer to this one as her car was gone way back when she disappered).
    • Where are her things

According to her was unwillingly interred in some sort of mental hospital by her family. Apparently her family said that they would take care of all of her belongings, pets, and pay her rent. Yeah that never happened.

I explained the place was sold years ago, her cats died, and her snake was donated to local wildlife shelter. Her apartment was infested, and i did what was required and evicted her. However i still have some of her stuff in storage.

She got really really upset, and i had to call the police. The police came and the police officer said it was a civil issue and she had to vacate the property.

Today she showed up again to collect what things she still had, and said she would be sueing me for what she lost. She got very confrontational, and i called the police and she was removed from our property. But he also mentioned that he is pretty sure you cannot evict someone who is interred in a mental health facility.

Can anyone tell me if i did something wrong here?

Purchased black Friday deals from a website, weeks later I get an email saying a glitch made the discounts deeper than intended and they'd like me to pay the difference.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 07:45 AM PST

I assume that the company (not small but not huge) sent these emails en masse to everyone who bought stuff during their black Friday event, but I was wondering what, if any, obligation falls on me. Basically, I ordered the items and have already received them, when this morning I receive an email that reads:

Hi -----, ORDER PROCESSING ERROR Thank you for your recent purchase with ----- -----! We are reaching out to you today regarding a system error that occurred with our recent black Friday promotion. Upon review of your order, we show that a discount greater than the one being advertised was applied to your order.

Please contact us at your earliest convenience so that we may take payment for the difference in cost, we would greatly appreciate it.Customer Service can be contacted during our regular business hours which are .....

So I'm wondering if I'm legally liable to pay whatever difference they had in mind, if they can randomly charge my debit card for more money, or if I should return the items (which are not generally considered 'returnable.') Also, im in Texas and this company is in California.

A piece of my city’s bridge fell and hit my car

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 01:35 PM PST

    Hello,

I am located in Marin County, California. I was driving and a piece of bridge, about 3 feet long, fell and was hit by my car. I was driving and couldn't stop in time, so it ended up cracking my front bumper (thankfully nothing else and no injury). My car is also a lease to own, if that matters and I have never had an accident with it. I've made a police report but they were unsuccessful in finding the piece that hit me as it ricocheted off probably into the water once it hit my car. What would be my next steps? Would I report to insurance or would I have to go into a lawsuit against the city? I'm hoping to get this covered, at least. It could have been way worse and there was also an incident this year where a piece of concrete from the same bridge ended up hitting a car too (they ended up finding the piece of concrete though) So, I believe it's also matter of public safety. What would the best way for me to proceed with this? Thank you!

Do I have any standing over a broken leg?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 07:10 AM PST

Sorry for any errors im quite new to reddit, sorry if its long.

For some background info: This is all started about 3ish months ago, after my SO went to bootcamp. I (18f) started going to the roller rink with his mother and sister once a week. There's usually a couple there a few years younger than I (15-16) (I'll call her red and him Jay)

I have never spoken to them before and have exchanged no more than a normal look with Jay but it upset Red when she saw it (it was just a passing glance). Every week after we'd go and Red would send other friends to try to trip me, they'd yell things towards me, all which I ignored, still not a word exchanged, my problem was not with Jay (or her for that matter).

Flash toward a few weeks the mom didn't come with us and sister was teaching me to skate backwards where Red told Jay to push her towards us and I fell. (we heard the exchange but wasn't quick enough to react) sister ended up explaining it to her mom and things moved on, next week we went again and I had a panic attack, when I have attacks I start ticking/twitching, as I was trying to make my way off the floor, red sent Jay to trip me or scare me (mom was behind them and heard and saw it all) so she told them to leave me alone.

We missed the week after because of Thanksgiving preparations but moving onto this Wednesday, we went and all was well, nothing really happened besides a dirty look given to mom by the couple. I ended up not going onto the floor for almost a half an hour because I was talking to mom.

This is where the issue happened and where I need advice. When I finally went out to the floor, I didn't make it completely around the floor because I was taken down by an older man (24ish?) Who was friends with the couple and their group. He kept going and laughing with Jay until mom yelled and I couldn't get off the floor.

They got me to a seat and I got situated. Sister and her friend saw the group laughing and patting the guy on the back while mom was trying to calm me down. Yesterday I found out my leg and ankle is broken in 4 places and I will need a rod insert and possibly more. The thing is I don't know if it was on purpose (we have suspicions) and I have no proof of the couple harassing me, besides my family.

I know it all seems very petty and silly but my leg is broken now and I have to get surgery, and I was curious if I could do anything at all? Sorry for length and formatting and any other issue but it would be really appreciated if someone could give me advice.

Is it legal to routinely switch an employee between salary and hourly depending on how busy the company is?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 04:59 AM PST

A friend of mine works for a catering delivery company. When they see a lot of orders on the books for the upcoming month they have to work long hours through the weekends, so they put her on salary as to not pay her overtime. When they don't have a lot of orders, they switch her back to hourly. It's happened a number of times now.

    Is this legal?

[California] Dog bit house guest 2 months ago. No medical treatment or bills and is now threatening to sue.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 12:55 PM PST

Happened 2 months ago. Small-medium dog (25pounds). No history of biting.

I understand the law is against me ,I make no excuses and I take full responsibility. my roommate had invited a guest, they entered the house. my dog ran up, barked and bit her leg. She was wearing long pants. The pants were not torn, fully in tact after the bite. We haven't had a guest in a while since COVID. Usually he's friendly, we suspect this could be it. Again, not excuses but just want to reiterate he has no history of biting which I know is irrelevant in CA.

At the time she was fine but later that night, she sent a pic of the the bite mark, purple ring , looks like hematoma to me. with a speck of blood in the middle of the ring. She even made a joke with my roommate about the whole situation and didn't seem to be too upset by it.

My roommate even assured me she was fine as she has a small dog herself that apparently had bitten my roommate several times in the past.

2 months later, now, my roommate and her are having a fight (non-related to the incident or my dog). and during their (verbal) fight, she threatened to sue him and me over what happened.

I know that CA has 2 years of statue of limitation for this sort of thing. I do have a renter insurance that covers dog bites (100K limit personal liability, 1k medical expense)

What can I expect? Can my dog be taken away or euthanized? She never went to a doctor and as far as I know, she had zero medical bills, no lost wages and no scarring.

I suppose she can file for pain & suffering but how strong of a case could this be with no medical treatments/expenses? Esp after 2 months, what are the worst outcomes could come from this?

Someone stole my transmission from my car last night. What can I do?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 01:09 PM PST

I dont know if that's the right flair but it's the closest I could find.

So last night , December 3rd 2020 , i 18f left my car parked at my boyfriends apartment for a little over 14 hours. During that time someone stole my transmission. We where out the whole day and didnt know anything was wrong till I got into my car to leave his apartment last night at around 12:30 am. I got home and my father looked at my car this morning and their is a perfectly cut out transmission and piping. I think he said I was straight piped or something like that.

My question here is what can i do. It's already about 500 dollars to fix.

Friend totaled my car and won’t cooperate with me, can I sue?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 09:03 AM PST

After letting a friend borrow my car to drive home he hit a parked car and totaled my vehicle. My car was registered to both me and my mother and was also on her insurance plan. Someone was inside the car he hit and I've yet to find out whether or not that person has sustained any injuries.

The friend does not have any insurance of his own but he does own a car that is insured and registered to his mother as well. After detailing what my mother and I calculated he would owe - him and his mother have cut all communication between us. Due to this lack of communication, he refuses to give a verbal statement to our insurance company which we were told would make us personally liable for all damages to the parked car.

What are my next steps here? Can we sue him for damages? Is the insurance company just trying to apply pressure to my mom and myself? We've never been in this type of situation and I am lost for ideas.

I appreciate anyone who reads this and can give me any advice on this terrible situation.

Edit: We are located in NYC

I'm Being Sued by Ex-Chiropractor (Never been sued before)

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 11:44 AM PST

TLDR: Located in NJ. Was in a car accident 5 years ago, not my fault, insurance covered everything and paid for chiropractic treatments. I go for 8 months and stop. Chiropractor's business closed and disappeared. Five years later I get notice in the mail I am being sued for $800+ outstanding payments. My insurance says they haven't received a single bill since 2016 and nothing is outstanding. I have also never been sent any bills. Contacted the practice's billing department (still active phone line) asking for an itemized invoice with dates and where the bills were being sent. No response. Contact their lawyer, request same thing, they say they will review the case and call me back. I received this notice and it says I have 30 days from filing to counter/answer these claims, which is Christmas Eve. What should my next step be?

    LONG VERSION:
December 23rd 2015 I was in a car accident. Myself and a few other cars were full stop at a red light in the rain. A car that was illegally driving on the grassy median between the highway drove full force into us, totaled my car, and threw my vehicle across 3 lanes of traffic. Driver was recently released from hospital with a traumatic brain injury and should not have been driving. Everything was his fault, no court, no contest, and handled between insurance.

I experienced right shoulder pain and started seeing a local chiropractor. A few months in, the practice changes name/ownership. All billing is through my insurance, everything is handled by insurance and I never received any bills. I asked the chiropractor how much longer I would have to come for treatments, and he said twice a week for 2-3 more YEARS. I was already feeling better about 8 months in, and I thought he response sounded scammy, so I stopped going.

A few months after that, the practice closes their doors and stops seeing clients.

Almost 5 years to the day, I get certified mail that the practice hired lawyers and is suing me for $800+ dollars. Saying there are outstanding bills that were sent and never paid. Likely they are bankrupt, and looking to collect any outstanding debt/grasp at straws before any statute of limitations runs out. I question the validity, but there is a real court case and docket number at the local court house.

My insurance provider says they haven't had anything since 2016, when I stopped going, and that there is nothing outstanding. I personally never received any bills at all.

I contacted the billing department for the now closed practice. Asked for dated and itemized bills and asked what address the bills have been sent to for the last 4 years. Left voicemails, no response. Called the lawyer repping the firm, which were dicks, and they said they'd review the case and get back. No response from them and I have been calling and emailing to follow up all week with no response.

They filed Nov 24th, so I have 30 days to respond. I called the courts and I can file an answer form, send it in as certified mail, and pay a fee of $30.00 for the filing to respond and get a court date to dispute the claim. Is that what I should do? I have never been sued before. Any help is appreciated.

My girlfriend was sexually assaulted by another parent at my daughter's elementary school

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 09:23 AM PST

There is a TLDR version at the bottom.

Almost a month ago, my girlfriend and I went to my daughter's school to pick her up for her birthday. Once the bell rang, my daughter sprinted toward us, excited to start a fun night with family.

Before we could even get into the conversation, my girlfriend's eyes widen, she looks at me and says in a panicked voice, "That man just touched me." She points at the guy that just walked behind her.

Going from 'excited to see my daughter' to 'did she just say what I think she said?' - it took me a few seconds to comprehend.

I took action, walked up to the guy and tapped him on the shoulder. He looks at me. I angrily ask, "Hey, did you just touch my girlfriend's butt?" (Know that I'm walking up to this guy fully expecting a cocky attitude and a fight)

His lip begins to quiver and he says, "I don't know..."

I stand there shocked, "What do you mean you don't know? Did you touch her?"

His voice gets softer, "...I don't know."

This lady gets out of her car and asked us to settle this off school property. "There are kids around."

My mind was moving a million thoughts per second. I look at the lady, back to the man, then to my girlfriend, who's now crying, standing with my consoling daughter, then back to the man. I wanted to beat him.

My girlfriend starts walking to the car and I want to make sure she's alright. The guy's halfway to his truck. I decide to get us in the car to follow him, so we can call the cops.

We lost him, no vehicle type or license plate. My daughter says that his son's in her class and he's the new kid. I didnt even think about the kid! That should be enough to help us find him. We have to pick up pizza for my daughter's birthday party that's already begun, and we head to my mom's for the party.

At the party, my girlfriend pulled me aside and said, "I didnt want to say this in front of kids, but he did more than touch my butt. He rubbed his hand on my vagina, " and began crying.

We called the non-emergency line for the police. They ask us to come to the department to fill out a report. We leave my daughter's party for a bit to fill it out. The officer that helps us happened to be one of my high school friends, so he's been really helpful.

The detective, that was assigned to the case, has been communicating effectively with my girlfriend about the process. They found out who the guy is based on school footage and his son being new. I confirmed it was him based on his Facebook profile.

The detective said he would call the guy in for questioning. After two no shows, the detective relayed to us that the guy is "acting really weird". The detective issued an affidavit for a warrant for his arrest.

We've been trying to be patient on this process. My girlfriend had to take a week off work

Since then, I saw him picking up his son early from school. No license plates on his truck anymore. I took pictures and recorded a video. I called the officer and he told me that I could email him the video, but it wouldn't be attached to the case.

The guy has removed his Facebook profile photo too.

It's been a month and there is still no warrant for the guy. The detective says it's a long process, but it feels like there's no justice. It feels like people can just do this and it's not a big deal.

TLDR: My girlfriend was sexually assaulted at my daughter's elementary school. I have a video of what the guy looks like and his plateless truck. The guy is avoiding questioning by police and there is still no warrant for his arrest. My girlfriend wants closure.

My questions: is there anything we can do to speed up the process? Why would my video of recognizing the guy not be considered when the police identify him? What can we do?

Is it legal for my younger brothers therapist to push their evangelical and political beliefs?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 09:21 AM PST

So this is an odd question and I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but please redirect me if not. This just happened and I'm really worried about my little brother(18M) (NJ)

So we live in a super conservative small town. My entire family (brother included) is very liberal or at the minimum left leaning. A few months back my brother asked my parents if he could go to therapy for his social anxiety. I'm super proud of him and happy that he took the initiative to start. Since then he's seemed really great and has seemed really happy. He says he likes his therapist a lot and that the therapist has really helped him.

He's used my moms computer to access his gmail a lot and I guess he forgot to log out because my mom got about 6 emails in a row from his therapist. She didn't realize it was his email account and was scared that something was wrong and the therapist was trying to alert her so she read the first email. It was a link to donate to an evangelical group and a video of an evangelical guy prophesiesing that trump would come back and win.

She was confused then realized that it was through my brothers account - so she stopped reading and mentioned it to him and he showed her the other emails that were all in the same vein. At first my mom thought his account may have been hacked but my brother laughed and said no that's just him lol. According to my brother the therapist is a big trump supporter and keeps saying that he knows trump is going to win bc "god wouldn't have it any other way".

No one in my family is religious. And this feels wrong but I don't know if it is illegal. My parents want to sit down with my brother again and really talk to him about it because of how uncomfortable that made them, but they're worried that it'll negatively impact his views on therapy. I think that in that conversation it might be helpful to explain to my brother that it's not right if we can show him that there are rules against this. I just want my brother to be happy and I don't want to intervene if there's nothing wrong even if I'm uncomfortable though. Is there anything laws against therapists pushing their political and religious views?

Can I get paid from a company in the USA if I’m not American?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:29 AM PST

I happen to be really popular on social media in the United States, but I'm not American. I don't live there, no citizenship, no bank account, nothing. Because I'm popular, some companies want me to post content about them and of course pay me certain amount of money. But they don't know I'm not American, and basically nobody knows. If I find a way to receive the money, can I accept it? Will I have to pay taxes? Can I open a bank account while not even being in USA? Will I go to federal prison? I'm not underage, but I'm not 21 y/o.

If this is somehow legal, I was thinking about making the company send the money to my friend's bank account and then she gives it to me whenever she comes or I go there. Will she be in trouble? (She's American)

[VA] All of my walls need to be demolished due to mold build up because of improper insulation/wall construction. Insurance might not cover my accommodations during 4-week construction, and Condominium is giving me push back. Do I have any options?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:28 AM PST

Hi all, long-time lurker, second-time poster.

A mold remediation specialist determined that there is mold buildup in my three perimeter walls due to improper insulation installation and a lack of built-in ventilation (called weep holes) in our brick façade. Our condominium is pushing back on paying for our accommodation (although they are paying for the construction as this is their fault) during the upcoming 4-week construction period, and our insurance has stated that accommodation for construction needed because of mold isn't covered.

Is there any kind of lawyer who might help us fight the condominium on this? We've always run dehumidifiers and exercised good ventilation practices, and the remediation report clearly outlines that this is the condominium's fault.

Thanks in advance any possible guidance on this.

An AT&T chat agent convinced me to change my wireless plan, quoting one price, now my plan is much higher.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 06:00 AM PST

So after all is said and done, the agent yesterday told me my new plan would be $110 per month for four lines, with varying internet packages for each line. He guaranteed it to me 100%. I have the transcript. So he changed the plan. I go to look at my plan online and all the prices per line are much higher. He assured me "oh don't worry, 2-3 hours it'll update to the right price, I guarantee it'll be $110".

Well sure enough it never updated. I called, was on hold for 2.5 hours until they hung up. I tried chatting all day and it was never available until right now when an agent and then a manager both told me the BASE cost is $210. So the previous agent BLATANTLY lied. Is that even legal? That wasn't even the first time I was quoted $110 by an agent either. What do I do here?

My previous plan was grandfathered in so you KNOW they wouldn't give it back to me.

Is there a legal guest form to keep someone from establishing residency in my home?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 09:01 PM PST

I own a home and live in Illinois and am considering letting someone stay with me temporarily. I would like to have this person sign a form ahead of time that prevents them from being able to fight eviction should that issue arise. I am doing this out of the kindness of my heart and am not going to charge them anything as they are in a rough place in their life. But, I know that it could become a nightmare if this person decides that they don't want to leave and the mess that an eviction can be.

This would be for a couple of weeks, maybe a month. I was wondering if something like this would be legal and if there is a form that I could download from somewhere perhaps?

Can my boss require me to come in on my day off?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 12:40 PM PST

I am the first person to cover shifts. However, Monday, my coworker's kid was sick, and the owner blew my phone up to come in. My cat had leapt off the balcony and broke his leg the day prior so I was at the vet. He told me today when I worked with him, that I need to be available at all times when in need of covering someone's shift. I work at a mom and pop shop, with a skeleton crew. I have never said no to helping so it seems unreasonable to be told that essentially my days off are not my own. Shouldn't that be Salary status and not hourly... Thanks for any info I can get! We are located in San Antonio, Texas
