I’m leaving sales to do full time ministry but I wanted to say thank you to this community for how much you guys helped out!

I've been in sales for 8 years now. I did apologetics as ministry work on the side as a passion and recently got the opportunity to be full time.

Thank you so much for the help and support and information here. I don't know if I would have been as successful in my sales career if it wasn't for this sub!

PLEASE HELP! How do I sell my product without annoying people or making it awkward?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 06:44 AM PST

Hello! I (18F) have just landed an internship opportunity of one month with a reputed company in my country and I'll be interning as a Marketing and Sales Rep and need to do well as my stipend will be performance-based.

The company offers different courses under 5 categories and the cost is a bit expensive. My target group, for this reason, will be people my age, and of course, those who are younger or older than me. I start tomorrow and will be contacting friends and acquaintances - how should I go about it? I really don't want to make it awkward for my friends and don't want to annoy people either.

Since this is my first time, any advice and suggestion are appreciated.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Average salary for Software or SaaS SDRs

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 03:34 PM PST

How much does the average SaaS SDR make? I'm at 75k TC year 1. I spoke with a recruiter about going back to finance and he said I would probably make a lot more money staying unless I go into IB. What the average SDR comp for tech? He is right. I was previously an analyst and I've made a lot more money this year working a lot fewer hours.

4 weeks into my sales job and no sales

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 10:47 AM PST

I was told going into this job it would be "easy" lol its not. It's a pretty big item we're selling, and I have no sales experience whatsoever. I find my pitch constantly improving, but I feel like it's been past the time I should have made a sale. If I become good at this job, I can make a lot of money. But that's the key. Being good. I've been feeling unsure of myself the past week or so, unsure of where to turn.

Getting disheartened applying for my first SDR role.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 10:45 AM PST

I'm graduating in the summer with a marketing degree with a focus in sales and a professional sales minor. I've started applying to some SDR roles and sales internship roles for the summer. I've been applying around to different companies in 3 cities; NYC, Boston, and Dallas. It seems like every single job posting I find requires 1-2 years experience. I've gotten a SaaS AE certification via Aspireship, but I can't seem to get anywhere with applications to SaaS and Tech companies. I've gone ahead and messaged some recruiters on LinkedIn after applying (through sales navigator which I use for my sales classes). I've managed to get a few interviews and I always ask if there's anything that makes them think I wouldn't be a good fit. I've been told for an internship that they don't typically hire seniors. I was told in my other interviews that my lack of experience is a dealbreaker and one lady told me that she thinks the southern twang in my voice is unprofessional for the phone (my accent is not thick or even noticeable most of the time). These have just beaten me down and made me feel like I have take a easier to get into sales role and then apply after a year or so. Is there any keywords or things I should be looking for to get an SDR role out of college? If you'd like to look at my resume, cover letters, or LinkedIn messages that would be super helpful just DM me.

TLDR: Summer Marketing Grad wants to be an SDR no luck in applying, wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

Considering Saas sales career - where to begin?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 10:06 AM PST

I have been seriously considering switching into a Saas/tech sales career. I have sales experience, mostly in the hospitality industry. Thanks to covid, my future is looking bleak for a long while.

I understand Cloud services is a really hot market right now, likely hard to get into a position which is why I am looking to set myself up for success.

What cloud computing/storage courses or certificates could I pursue in order to get a foundational understanding of the services? I am hoping to add this to my resume since I don't yet have tech or Saas sales experience.

Between AWS, Google, Microsoft, I'm not quite sure where the best starting point is.

Is this the right execution? What else should I consider to pursue this path?

Edit: I am located in Canada if that helps.

Meeting with my VP to “catch up.” What questions should I ask him?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 09:09 AM PST

Currently a sales support, but I want to eventually become a full on sales guy. Medical sales.

He is the VP of worldwide marketing. Has a lot of influence in the field. He does meetings once a year with each staff member to "catch up" for 30 mins.

What are some good questions that I can ask him, to advance my career and also hopefully build our relationship.

    Thanks

I’ve heard that “anyone can succeed in sales.” Do you agree?

    Why or why not?

Upcoming Move USA—>Ireland: Stay as Logistics Account Manager or Transition to SaaS Sales?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 08:28 AM PST

I'm applying for dual US/EU citizenship and looking to relocate to Ireland in the next 6-18 months.

I have 12 years experience in operations and account management at a major US railroad.

There is a Transportaton focused SaaS firm near my home. Would sales in SaaS for 6-12 months help me get hired at a SaaS sales role in Dublin or elsewhere in Ireland? Or is that simply too short of time and I'll only be competitive for logistics/supply chain roles in a non-SaaS company?

    Looking for Environmental Sales

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 08:07 AM PST

I currently work sales taking inbound calls and have found I have a knack for it, but not a passion for the field I'm in. I love nature and am wondering what kind of sales jobs out there are nature related/environmental or involve Green Energy? Any advice would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Is there an ethical way to increase customer lifetime value in a field where the target audience has a problem that can be solved with one product?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 07:48 AM PST

Self-help, for example. Would there be an ethical way of increasing customer life-time value, without keeping them hooked on products that no longer serve them, or that are only giving them breadcrumbs of what they need?

For example, what about a book club that can keep customers for 10-15 years? What are ways of doing this in an ethical way that delivers on promises, but allows for customer lifetime value to be lengthened, in a mutually beneficial way?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 07:47 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I want to start a new cold email campaign for my web design service to get leads. I am planning to target pharmacies. I would be providing these prospects with a report on their website design and SEO. My question is what is the best strategy for the fold emails that would get me responses. All ideas are welcome.

Not in it for the money?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 03:26 AM PST

Curious into understanding if there is anyone here whos not motivated by money and simply do it because they enjoy it.

I believe motivatation by instrinsic factors rather than external produce the greatest Salesmen. At the same time, the greatest at my company are very much in it for the money.

Reach out to a prospect with a genuine want to help them rather than because you want money would improve your tonality.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Alternatives to cold calls

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 06:30 AM PST

I just want to start by saying I'm a pretty shy person, kinda quiet and introverted.

I'm not very good at cold calls, I find myself getting really nervous and anxious about calling random people. I was just curious to see if there were any beneficial alternatives to doing calls. I've done a little bit of social media prospecting and that does seem better but my DM has told me not to rely solely on that.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Made it to the final interview and got rushed out? then REJECTED. SDR

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 05:05 PM PST

Made it to the final interview in my #1 pick company, they have great reviews (that aren't fake) and people say the culture is great but...

I make it to my quoted "1 hour and 40 minutes" final interview that lasted 25 minutes. it was with 2 SDR managers and 1 VP of sales. The first person only talked for 10 minutes, the second was double booked so he said he only had 5 minutes, and the last guy I interviewed within the previous stage did not even ask me questions, just moved me to the current SDR who works there to ask him questions about the day to day of the job.

Did they already make the decision before they interviewed me that final time? HR said my experience wasn't in line in my rejection email. But the ADR manager specifically said my experience in an SDR job at a previous software company gave me an advantage over the other candidates.

The VP of sales told me the experience wasn't a big factor at all and it was more about coachability.

I closed each of them by asking if there were reservations as to why I wouldn't be a good fit - they all said no. The VP of sales had one objection about why I was leaving my current job and I answered and he said "that's a fair answer - career progression is important".

I have had quite a few interviews now and even got some job offers. I just really don't know why I was rejected here - I felt I did pretty damn well.

I'm also grossly offended by how they didn't give me more than 5 minutes because I prepared for this interview for a while and was really looking forward to it.

    Do I just move on?

I already emailed all 3 people I interviewed with and asked for feedback because I said " I like to improve on any shortcomings I may have so I can perform better in future interviews"

Actually, I may have fucked up at the end when I asked the current SDR if they track your activity on the work laptop. Looking back I realize how sketchy that sounds but I was genuinely curious how hard they micro manage. Do you think that cost me the job?

Does one need a degree and what degree to get started in sales?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 04:11 PM PST

I have an associate degree in Communication Arts (TV and Film) and I have zero experience in sales.

How do I get started? Do I get a degree and in what; or just apply to entry level jobs and "sell" myself to the hr department?

Outside Sales: How do you keep your literature and handouts organized?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 02:06 PM PST

    Do 3D product animations help?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 11:57 AM PST

    Hi,

I am looking forward to get an animated commercial for a product similar to one like XBOX/PS4 reveals. I want to ask how these videos which are not even real help with marketing and sales? Or what Actual benefits you had with creating these animations. Plus, how much budget should I have for something like this, and will it be worth it?

I am talking about animations like these: Phone animation mouse animation

    Thank You.

    Anyone work at Twitter?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 03:51 PM PST

I'm curious what it's like to be part of managing huge accounts of celebrities, etc? How do you combat fake news, censorship, etc? Are there multiple account managers assigned to 1 person?
