Let us say for example they felt the company they work for had created an environment where it was impossible for claims employees to handle claims in good faith?

This is of course just a hypothetical question to develop my understanding of the process.

Will Geico reimburse me for my rental car fee?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 01:14 AM PST

Earlier last week my brand new vehicle I paid off was rear-ended by a Geico-insured driver, who through the insurance and in the police report was named 100% at fault. The next day, Geico provided me with a rental car to use while my vehicle was in the shop for repairs.

I got the insurance option for the rental car which is $12/day out of the initial $200 deposit, however it looks like by the time my vehicle will be ready I will owe money over the deposit for said insurance. Am I able to speak to Geico about potentially getting reimbursed for what I am going to spend for the rental car, or because I picked up the coverage on the rental am I going to have to stick out the total for it out of pocket? Curious about what my options are, as I am a college student and after paying off my vehicle I am left with little wiggle room in my savings, especially now that the holiday season is in the full swing.

What's happening to condo insurance in Canada?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 05:00 AM PST

Articles like this and this all report skyrocketing condo insurance fees, sometimes 300% in a single year. Articles all say it's a combination of factors, but that sounds like a lazy copout of an explanation. What exactly is so different between 2019 and 2020 in the world of condo insurance that would cause an explosion like this? If it's a mix of factors, then why is it happening now? Is it related to AirBnB? Immigration? (thus the vague/PC reporting?)

What if someone dies and never told anyone that they had a life insurance policy? (In the USA)

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 07:28 PM PST

Here is the situation. My 94 year old mother-in-law is in an assisted living facility near us. Her older son (my husband's brother) was her Power of Attorney and had all her paperwork. Well, he passed away 2 weeks ago. Now my husband is her POA.

Her older son was not good at keeping paperwork and keeping things organized. I'm in the process of trying to organize everything now. Lots of her stuff is missing. My husband and I are fairly certain she had a life insurance policy, but we cannot find any documentation on it. And my mother-in-law has memory issues, so we can't ask her. Also, there are no other siblings to ask. She only had two sons (now just one - my husband). Father-in-law died 20 years ago.

So how in the world can we go about trying to see if she has a life insurance policy with a company?

    Accidental damage/burst pipes

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 02:29 AM PST

Hi, I have accidental cover on my home insurance. I had a boiler conversion down, from oil to gas. The pressure from the gas system has caused a mains pipe under my bathroom floor to burst. Would this be covered under accidental damage? My insurance guy this morning said no, I'd be liable, but everything I've looked up seems to suggest it ought to be covered.

Can a career in underwriting lead to SIU?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 10:28 PM PST

I am torn between pursuing underwriting, and claims investigations. I noticed there is a surprising amount of internships available in UW, but practically nothing for SIU, which honestly is my dream job.

I like UW because it seems financially practical, and has a lot of entry level opportunities. However, I'd love to do investigative work, and claims seems to be too customer service oriented. So I was wondering if maybe I can climb up the ladder into a SIU position but, I'm not sure what entry level role is the best place to start with.

(I have no insurance experience, just got my bachelors, lots of customer service, finance, accounting, sales experience)

    Insurance while I don’t have a car

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 10:32 AM PST

I was leasing a car up until recently (in LA) & was paying $320/mo in auto insurance. I had gotten into a couple accidents recently and my (already high) rate was raised.

I recently turned in my lease and since I dont have a commute anymore, I decided not to get another car. Geico told me that I shouldn't let my insurance lapse because when I do get a car and get insurance again, the cost will be even higher. Right now I'm paying about $66/mo for nothing. I won't rent cars nor will I drive anyone else's.

Is this worth it? Roughly how much could they raise my rate when I come back? It sucks just paying for air!

    Medicare Part D

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 08:18 PM PST

Hi all, asking for my parents who are 63 and 62, with my mom having past medical history of lung cancer and most recently a broken hip. Father recently lost his job and therefore health insurance.

We all as a family qualify for Title 19 (Medicaid) through the state of Connecticut. I signed us all up through access health site and it now says we all have active coverage with Husky D. We also received our ID cards in the mail.

With title 19, I assumed our prescription coverage was included but for my mother, the pharmacy is saying that 'Medicare part D' must be billed first before title 19. Is Husky D and Medicare part D different? I work in the pharmacy and I'm still super confused.

Others have said I must sign up for a part d plan through access health but I no see no other option to sign up for another plan other than my existing Husky D for my household.

Also, with my mother being 62 but having pre-existing conditions does she qualify for Medicare part b early? I have no idea how that works either.

I haven't had the chance to call the help line yet so I figured I'd reach out here first. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

    COBRA Insurance

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 07:13 AM PST

Hello, I am trying to find out about COBRA insurance. I recently moved jobs and initially thought I would sign up for COBRA. I thought one month would be enough as it would give me benefits till the benefits at my new job click-in.

I thought that I would eventually just fall of the COBRA plan, instead two months later I am looking at a bill three times the size of the one month of insurance.

I called my employers plan admin and that said I am out of luck because I am not an employee of there company. But that I can't just be "removed" from coverage.

All google has to offer are ads about how to get health insurance coverage. Does anyone have resources to follow up on?

    Title owner?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 06:56 PM PST

I got new car and we're wondering if whoever signs the title affects insurance rate. Would insurance be more expensive if my brother who's only 22 signed the title vs my mom who's 50 signed it?

How to conveniently swap insurance companies?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 01:22 PM PST

    Insurance aficionados,

I have: Home insurance, car insurance, and Valuable Personal Property insurance through USAA.

I want to figure out a way to easily compare coverage limits, reliability (e.g. not a fly by night, going to default if there's a regional disaster), premiums, and deductibles for multiple companies at once. I primarily want to make sure my coverages remain the same, and I can add umbrella insurance without my total combined premium going up.

Google just shows a bunch of probable data mining tools, and the idea of just cold calling a bunch of companies seems like an inefficient way to go about it.

Primary vs. secondary insurances have been incorrect for 15 months

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 09:31 AM PST

I was just informed that my wife's primary and secondary insurances have been incorrect for the last 15 months. We've filed around 100+ claims during this time. The one we thought was primary paid all of these claims out as primary payer until last month, and the one we thought was secondary paid out secondary payer for all of these claims as well. All of these claims are now being reviewed and will probably be reprocessed. A few questions: 1) is there a time period that they can do back and reprocess claims (6, 12, 18 months)? 2) half of these claims were out of network with the now primary carrier. Should I expect to get a bill for 50+ visits which I then will have to manually file with the new primary? 3) if I'm billed for the out of network rate which is usually higher than the in network contract rate for a visit, will the in network carrier (who is secondary payer now) only reimburse up to the contract rate even if I was billed for more than that? Or does the provider need to only bill me for the contract amount?

Low Umbrella policy after accident + Living w/parents

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 11:18 AM PST

    Hi,

I had a few insurance related questions and would be greatly appreciative if someone would be able to help me with the situation as I haven't been able to find much information online.

I got in an at fault car accident in April and received 2 two tickets. My car was the only one involved.

I was able to get put on my parents policy with 100/300 coverage. They wouldn't give us anymore due to my history. Ideally we would want an umbrella for $1M.

I do not own a car but drive my parents. Is it possible to get my own policy, living at the same address as my parents?

How long will this accident effect my parents not being able to get a larger umbrella? The current policy I'm on ends in April. 1 year after my accident. Would that make a difference in terms of getting an umbrella or better/cheaper coverage?

I hope I explained my situation well. Insurance is something I am trying to become much more informed on. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

    Remote Commercial Insurance Jobs

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 04:11 AM PST

    Hello,

Where should I look for fully remote commercial insurance jobs that don't involve sales? I've been scouring Indeed and mostly find sales positions. I have my P&C and have been in the industry for three years, but it's been in a specialized role that doesn't exist outside my current company.

Any advice on types of jobs/positions, or where to look, would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in Massachusetts, 20 miles east of Boston.

    Thank you.

    Homeowner's Insurance Credit Impact

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 02:08 PM PST

My homeowner's insurance company recently sent my yearly bill. My premium has been raised due to credit issues that they claim impact the price. The issue is that the information they used is inaccurate. It must not have been pulled within the last year as they still have me with a mortgage (paid it off last October), the number of open accounts is too high, as is the credit usage. They raised my premium almost $600/year based on this information. How do I handle this?

    Windscreen Insurance (UK)

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 12:51 PM PST

I have two questions to ask: Do car garages replace windscreens? The ones that do MOTs and suchlike.

Do you have to go through windscreen insurance or can you pay for a windscreen replacement out of your own pocket?

    Answers appreciated :)

    road trip - insurance questions

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 11:24 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

My wife and I are taking a 5-day road trip from Illinois to California; we plan to rent a car. I have a few questions about the insurance since we have never rented a car before.

I plan to pay for the rental with my Chase Sapphire Preferred in order to cover the CDW. They state on their website: "Decline the rental company's collision insurance and charge the entire rental cost to your card. Coverage is primary and provides reimbursement up to the actual cash value of the vehicle for theft and collision damage for most rental cars in the U.S. and abroad"

I have personal car insurance which extends to rental cars. My plan is:$100k Per Person / $300k Per Accident / $50k Property Damage

So I will not be using the liability insurance the rental car company offers.

Is there any other type of insurance I need to worry about when renting a car?

    Trying to find houseboat insurance

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 10:35 AM PST

I'm trying to find insurance for a houseboat here in Northern California. I'd like to purchase it but I'm running into a huge "Catch-22" underwriters are not writing policies for new owners unless you have owned a boat of that size (43') , this is my retirement dream. I've grown up on the water , I've operated houseboats , I've owned smaller ski boats , I own my home outright and still carry insurance on it. HELP !

    Root or liberty mutual?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 09:56 AM PST

Found liberty mutual recently that would give me medical payment coverage for $5 more on my policy if I switched over compared to root that would cost me $25 more if I added through root. Is it worth switching over to liberty. Are they a reputable brand to go for compared to root?

Newbie preparing for License advice ?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 06:49 AM PST

Hello all! So I'm living in New York City and have just begun the process of getting my Health insurance license so I can take a position with Aflac. Already enrolled through examfx by the recruiting manager and so far I'm about a chapter or 2 in. Seems straight forward but I just want to make sure I do this right and be able to start working again. Anybody here taken the New York course/exam recently and can send out some tips or advice on what the best way to go about this process? Any specific topics or terms I should focus on? Heck, any Aflac employees on here looking to help out a newbie? All advice is welcome! Thanks for reading!
