[CAD] Thoughts on giving my 2 weeks on Dec 21st - what could happen?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:05 PM PST

I know it is a dick move, but does it really matter? I got depressed and have anxiety all because of it. I'm so sad and I need a break. I believe the firms expect some turnovers prior to Jan.

I'm getting my CFE result on Nov 27, and I should get all my hours around that time. Not sure how to bring this up to my coach when having my last report review. Also, can they not give me my hours? Or give me a hard time not approve my PERT?

    TIA

Do accountants make budgets for themselves

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:12 PM PST

I am an accountant, but have realized that I have been grossly overspending this year. So shameful....

I've decided to give real budgeting a try (not the wishy-washy mental budgeting I've been doing) and started wondering if other fellow accountants personally keep budgets for their own spending?

I've never seen it talked about here, nor do my coworkers ever talk about our own personal finance habits and if we budget or not.

Is it common for B4 to recruit experienced staff from smaller firms?

Got a LinkedIn message from a recruiter and I'm intrigued. I thought I had read on this sub that B4 likes to hire right out of college.

    What should I do

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:13 PM PST

I have no idea what I want to do after college I'm taking 3 winter courses and I graduate over the spring. I'll have my 150(all undergrad) I've been talking with the IRS and am currently going to school at SUNY Plattsburgh. Also, quick side notes the winter classes I'm going to be taking are forensic accounting, cybercrime(I had to get the override for it), and music appreciation. If you need any more info let me know. I just am completely lost.

Is account BS better than BA? Is taking an extra class to get a BS instead of a BA worth it?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 05:14 PM PST

So I am a term away from graduating with my BA. I could actually get a BS as well but I would need to take an extra class (I would at a community college) in order to get it. My question is if this extra $600 is worth it to get the BS instead of BA. Is BS better and more marketable? Just wondering what you guys think.

Tax question for GrubHub drivers [California]

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:28 PM PST

Hello Accounting community Just a quick question regarding how GrubHub works for filing tax purposes. Does GrubHub reports to IRS about how much their drivers make in a year? Like anything document that they internally send to IRS? Thanks Please no trolling or tantrums. Just a simple question.

    Bookkeeping exercise?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 05:57 PM PST

Hello, I am a university student studying accounting principles. I am having a hard time getting a general picture of the process, as I have never worked at a company before.

Is there, by any chance, an online bookkeeping exercise that imitates a company's bookkeeping software? Where you're presented with some questions/scenarios, and can start from Journalizing to Closing Entries. Thanks!

Thinking of going from an Auditing Supervisor (recently promoted) to a Financial Analyst position at a young tech company. Most likely a slight pay decrease. Anyone made a move like this? Advice?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 05:56 PM PST

Hey guys, I'm over public accounting. I enjoy finance and always loved it in college and was thinking of finding a financial analyst/senior financial analyst position at a cool company I believe in that has a ton of room for growth/potential.

I would most likely take a slight pay decrease but that doesn't bother me too much. I am good at my job and am technical. I believe in my skills. I think it was be very possible to be promoted to a senior financial analyst after 1 year of work (haven't discussed this with them but my work will speak for itself).

Anyone made a move like this?

    How do you like it?

What can you do with an accounting background/CPA + being a senior financial analyst? What kind of opportunities exist?

Are there any positions that combine accounting/finance since accounting is my background?

I've kind of always just kept my head down and audited but I really don't give af about this career anymore. I don't mind accounting, but i'm done with public accounting.
