Please use this thread to have discussions which you don't feel warrant a new post to the sub. While the Rules for posting questions on the basics of personal finance/investing topics are relaxed a little bit here, the rules against memes/spam/self-promotion/excessive rudeness/politics still apply!

Have a look at the FAQ for this subreddit before posting to see if your question is frequently asked.

Since this post does tend to get busy, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

Does anyone here work tax seasons as a form of baristaFIRE?

Just curious if anyone works in tax/accounting and only works busy season, and if so, would you mind sharing a bit of your journey?

(I'm a writer, but I was thinking about volunteering as a VITA for a bit, getting my EA, gaining a bit of experience at a small firm, and eventually finding my way to working tax/busy seasons only so I can write the rest of the year.)

How do FI people find other FI people to date?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 07:46 PM PDT

I'm a FI 35F and find it impossible to find other people my age that are in anyway responsible with their finances. Is this just something I'll have to compromise on?
