Need Traffic To Your Website? Do This. Posted: 24 Sep 2020 09:51 AM PDT
Since WordPress is the most used platform right now I'll teach you how to do SEO on WP websites, and this plugin also works on a few different CMS's as well. Install Yoast SEO. It's useful for creating sitemaps, optimizing meta tags, and a ton of other goodies for you. To make things simple it makes the technical stuff seem easy.
Sitemaps tell search engines where to find your content on your website so they can easily crawl/index your pages. Mostly you can find your sitemap here: yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml - If you're a WP user use Yoast SEO to generate a sitemap, and if you aren't using Yoast go to Google and check out a generator for your website.
Robots.txt file is a plain text file that tells search engines where they can or cant go on your website. Weird right? It's always a good practice to have a robots.txt file so certain things won't be crawled on your website, sections, pages etc. For example if you're running an ecommerce store you might not want to crawl your checkout page or cart page.
Google Analytics is a free tool created by Google and it lets you see how many people visit your website and what they do on your website. One of the strongest free tools by Google. To install this tool just go to Google Analytics and sign up and paste the supplied tracking code to your website.
Google Search Console lets you track performance and see which keywords your website is ranking for. It also keeps you in the loop about on-site improvements and a few things you can change throughout your current website. Make sure to link your GSC with GA to see data as well. On-Page SEO Checklist Now we are going to get into the fun stuff. If you just improve these simple things that I'm going to show you on your website you'll start to rank better and save yourself some money when or if you ever go with a marketing agency.
According to Google shorter URLs rank better. blahblah.com/service instead of blahblah.com/Services-Near-Los-Angeles-County-For-You - But don't sacrifice descriptiveness for length. URLs should offer insight into what your going to be clicking on.
Title Tags and Meta-Descriptions are clickable headlines that most users will see on a search engine result page. Their purpose is to provide a short, accurate description of the pages content and its super crucial because they are what is displayed on a search engine results pages (SERPs), web browsers and social media networks. It is important to consider the length of title tags so they display properly on SERP, front loading your keyword without overtiring it, and giving every page a unique title tag. By optimizing your title tag you are compelling users to click on your website pages which will increase your click through rate which can result in higher ranking ability. Ex: https://gyazo.com/d4ca73bded067fc57619157b32e8a4ab
Search engines like Google use images just as much as text to understand your content and decide whether they are relevant to users search engines. We will optimize your images with ALT text that contain the right keywords so that search engines can comprehend your content efficiently.
I've read a couple things that it's ok to use as many H1 tags and it doesn't affect you but I truly believe still that using one H1 tag is vital and that's all you should use for a page. H1 tags stand out for the title of the page and a page can only see one title. H1 tags should be the main keyword, and then sprinkle in H2/H3 tags for other keywords. H1 tag for: Digital Marketing California or Plumber Los Angeles and H2/H3 should be How To Build A Trench, What Los Angeles Plumber Can Do For You titles.
Quality content is the best when it comes to SEO with long-form content. Static Pages Static pages are those pages on your website that you hardly change. This includes "About Us" and Services pages. We will help your users fully familiarize themselves with your business by writing these pages in a clear manner. Blog To make sure your business is blog authoritative we will write long form content that is populated with the right keywords so that you can attract back links and drive a substantial amount of traffic to your website using your blog.
External links are pages from different websites that often help users find more information if its not on your website. These are crucial for on-page SEO since they improve your sites credibility if you link out to an authoritative website which can result in your content and website pages to rank higher. We will help eliminate any links external links that are poor quality or banned websites. Internal Links are those that go to different pages on your website An example would be a link on your "About" page that leads to your "contact" page. Internal links help pass link juice to different parts of your website and enable this to be crawled and indexed more effectively by search engines. (Freebie since most websites I come across don't do this) - Also for the love of god it's 2020. Make sure your website is SSL secured. Seeing a [Not Secured] tab turns a lot of people off.Website OrganizationThe longer users stay on your website, the more search engines recognize your content as being relevant and useful and this makes you rank higher on all search engine result pages (SERPS) How do you ensure users stay longer on your website? By organizing your website in a manner so that it is easy to navigate to different pages and access to content internally on your website. This ensures optimal user experience and forces search engines to thoroughly index your pages as well as deem them credible and useful to users. 404 Errors And Broken LinksAnother reason for poor user experience is broken links and 404 errors. 404 errors is a client-side error which occurs when a user tries to access a page that doesn't exist on the server. This happens when you either remove a page or move it without updating the URL. 404 errors are usually caused by broken or dead links and can adversely harm your search engine optimization. You could use SEMRush or any other tool like semrush to analyze your website for any broken links and fix them accordingly. This ensures that users have a better experience on your website, they stay longer, and significantly boost the number of returning visitors to your website. Website SpeedGoogle came out with a update that page speed would be a major ranking factor, especially for the mobile version of websites. The longest majority of users that wait for a site to load up is 4 seconds. Anything more than that will lead to people clicking off your website. This is why you need to dedicate time to testing your website, and to ensure that its loading speed is excellent. If your website is running slow, Go find tools on Google that make sure this doesn't happen. Upgrading your web hosting, optimizing images and installing a CDN to ensure that you reduce the loading time and this will increase the traffic to your website. Nobody has time to wait 4 seconds for a website to pop up. These aren't the AOL days. Mobile OptimizationThis is 2020. The world has gone mobile. Everyone has a cell phone. Since 2015 Google released its mobile-friendly update, making sure your website is mobile as well has been a huge ranking factor. According to Google, more than 51% of smartphone users have discovered new companies, products and services while using their smartphones. This tells you just how much your website needs to be mobile optimized and we ensure that your website is ready for mobile users and if not we can optimize accordingly. If it's not optimized for the mobile phone you need to do this now. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:05 AM PDT Not every entrepreneur wants to dropship or start a SaS business, sometimes it's getting your hands stuck into something you love which is what will give you meaning. I started farming mushrooms.. Background If you want to read the original post, here is the link. The Update As written in the page I linked above, my business is divided into three parts. Fresh mushroom sales, online sales of spawn and other mushroom growing items, and YT. about 8 months ago I made a Video which really took off, and just broke the 200,000 views mark a few days ago. This video done wonders for my YT channel, and really started to propel it forward. In the post I made 9 months ago to this subreddit, I was YouTubing for around 1 year, and had a little over 500 subscribers, and 1000 watch hours. Now I am about to break 10,000 subscribers, and have racked up 5,900 watch hours in the last 28 days! Growth has been exponential. Monetizing YouTube? My YT channel earned the most it's every earned last month, breaking the $350usd mark for the 28 day period, which I am more than happy with. My Amazon Associates is going strong, but it does fluctuate. My best month on amazon has been around $150 usd for the month period. I get this in Amazon gift cards, and generally use it to purchase items to make better videos with... Can anyone monetize YouTube? If you do something, no matter what it is, people want to know about it. Look at this sub for example. I still browse this sub all the time, because I like to read peoples ideas, and I like to see the success stories. YT is just another place you can do that, although finding the channels can be harder. I get e-mails every single day from aspiring mushroom farmers around the world looking for help setting up a farm. having a YT channel adds a strange complexity to your business. It opens you up to the world, even though your business might only be a local one like mine. So the farm is still going well, I am in the process of automating it with Home Assistant software. Sales are good, YT is doing well, and we've had some positive media lately. I really do love farming, and I think urban or small scale farming for profit is a thing. I am but a simple man tending to my farm... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:19 PM PDT As a tech founder, this is something that I'm seriously considering. For those wondering what R&D Tax Credits are:
This is all new to me, and I was wondering if anyone here has had experiences with claiming R&D tax credits, how long the process takes, CPA's, or 3rd party services like Neo.tax. Any insights or recommendations would be very welcome! [link] [comments] |

What are some high paying skills that transition well to entrepreneurship? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:46 AM PDT I'm 27, disabled, and homebound. I can't drive. I'm not down and out though! I will fight, fight, fight to make something of myself. I was wondering what online skill I could develop that would take care of my basic needs first, and then transition to building a business. I'm looking to dedicate my life to one thing and get really good at one thing. [link] [comments] |

stagnating 9-5 career on purpose to keep free time Posted: 23 Sep 2020 06:22 PM PDT Hi, I started building eCom sites since June, I immediately became obsessed and have decent results so far. My 9-5 is software sales. 2 years experience, b2b lead generation for large companies, giving me 3k/month disposable income. (more than enough money, also have plenty of savings) I WFH ~20 hours per week tops, 80% of my remaining waking time is spent on the website. If I work 10 extra hours a week and gain a few product certifications then I can get promoted to a closing role in around 6 months to make 150k gross, but this job will take up 30 hours or more regularly and is far more stressful as I will be under more scrutiny, which will impede my eCom progress. I'm on great terms with my current manager, if I get promoted I don't think I'll get along with my new one. My plan is to just be an "average" employee and stay in this 100k role to maximise time to grow my eCom business then leave company in 12-24 months to do eCom full time. Anyone been through something similar? Or know someone who has? Any general thoughts? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Where can I sell my short .pdf ebook report? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:08 AM PDT Sorry if this is posted in wrong category... I have inside information that can be extremely beneficial to any internet marketer. I made a short report. Let's say 20 pages that detail this information. Where can I sell this report? I thought about WSO, but that forum seems dead. Any other places? I honestly think it is really good and useful information that internet marketers will jump on pretty quick, I just need exposure. It isn't anything complicated or long. A rather short report type of instructional pdf. [link] [comments] |

Low IG engagement rate despite follower growth? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 10:58 AM PDT Sorry if this is a bit long. TLDR: My follower count has increased over 300% but engagement had almost no increase. Pages similar to mine are doing much better. My IG isn't doing that great, and I don't get why. I have around 900 followers, and I get around 30-60 likes per post. I started a few months ago, and it was hard to get started, even though I was posting everyday (which is the max I can go with my type of content). Once I go a decent follower amount, something like 200-300, I was getting most of the likes I am getting now, 30-40. My account seemed to stall at 200-300, so I figured I would invest some money to get it to start, and hopefully it would snowball a little bit. I heard stories of accounts getting lower engagement from paid ads on IG, and I've personally experienced that with FB ads a few years ago, so I decided not to do that. What I did, however, was pay a few big pages that are related to mine to give a shoutout. I thought that would be much more organic and hopefully bypass IG messing my reach. And that worked well. I gained around 50-100 followers for each shout-out, who followed out of their own accord, and I did that around 5-6 times, which got me to the 900 followers I am now. The fact that my engagement is not as high as I expected is especially weird because: 1) My content has improved a fair bit since when I started. Even if my follower count stayed the same (which it didn't, it tripled!), I would expect better engagement. 2) I see many other accounts, with similar content to mine, who have way better engagement. I sometimes see people consistently getting like 50 likes with 200-300 followers. What made me a bit annoyed to decide to make this post was seeing someone with a very similar account to mine and 1k followers, which I will reach soon, having around 120 likes per post. That is a huge difference. Is there anything I am missing? I think my hashtags are good, and similar to what other successful accounts use as well. [link] [comments] |
Maybe being an entrepreneur isn’t for everyone Posted: 24 Sep 2020 10:55 AM PDT My stubbornness has caused me a lot of debt. Where everyone said that I could never succeed, I was burnt on proving them wrong. I knew that working for someone else did not make me happy. "I can do this!" Was something I told myself often. I have a lot of experience in the online work space. My first position was with Samsung, and I have worked with many other great brands. My positions included social media manager, translator, podcast manager, online business manager, to name just a few. I have always supplemented my freelance income with side jobs such as cleaning, babysitting and tutoring. I also did small jobs like surveys. But after C-19 things went crashing down and I lost the few clients that I had. All my income was gone. Now the debts that I had are growing to the point I will be evicted next month because I am no longer able to pay my rent. Suddenly I realize that everyone who discouraged me and told me I can't do this were right. Being a business owner, freelancer, entrepreneur is simply not for everybody. I don't know what I want with this post exactly. Just to vent? To show that it's okay to let go? Maybe I'll have another chance in the future :) [link] [comments] |
How does my plan to validate my beverage company sound? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:55 PM PDT Hi all I've decided to take the plunge and start a beverage company. However, I'm a big proponent of gauging interest and the market before sinking any large investment. This is my current plan, please let me know what you think: 1) Start with a few mock-up images of the product. This would include the logo, label, and "nutritional facts". This would also include mock up promotional images and ads. 2) Create a landing page. This is where we collect and funnel interested buyers. What would be the best data to collect here? I'd like to collect emails, but ideally would like something more substantial. Maybe a deposit for the product when it launches? Maybe credit card information that only charges once the product is made/shipped? How would you tackle this and what would you feel comfortable using? 3) Lastly I would create focused and targeted facebook, google, and social media (IG) ads to help drive potential buyers to the landing page. 4) Once I have reached what I deem an adequate amount of presales or interest, I would then approach investors or feel confident to start development. I reckon the total amount of this process would be <$1000. Is there anything else I am missing or could improve on? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Can I use my LLC in other states? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:16 PM PDT I started my LLC originally in Jersey 3 years ago & it didn't do that great. More so of a side hustle doing IT work for people but I didn't really know how to do SEO. I later moved to Virginia a year ago (using a virtual address for the business location). But I wanted to see if I can start marketing it here in Virginia, just really setting up WiFi in people's homes professionally. Would this be ok to proceed or would I run into trouble with the law? Struggling with leads generation Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:03 PM PDT Hey r/Entrepreneur ! Few months ago I decided that I want to start coaching/mentoring people on how to be consistently profitable with trading cryptocurrencies/options since I've noticed A HUGE spike of new traders in my environment and online, unfortunately most of them already got burned because of the lack of any education and experience. I see a problem I can easily fix, I really believe I can provide value to people since I already managed to coach few folks and give them results and I have years of experience from doing it full time, yet somehow I cannot obtain as much students as I'd like to. I posted testimonials of the people that worked with me (I connected with them through referrals) and I update my trades entries and results on daily basis. I tried getting into FB entrepreneur groups but all I see are Indians spamming their scam telegram groups, crippling the legitimacy of my niche. I don't promote any mining scam, I don't sell signals, I want to provide an education on how to be able to stay consistently profitable. I don't want to create an info product since I really enjoy working directly with people. Any tips on how I should position myself? Any hyper-niche that might work for me? I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you and best regards, D. [link] [comments] |
Management Tool Recommendations? Desperately trying to get off of Jira. Questions about starting up an ISP company Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:35 AM PDT Hello. My name is James. I came up with an idea for a new ISP service. Everyone complains about how bad customer service is, or how the internet is terrible for the price they pay, or just the fact that people can't get custom speeds that suit them and their needs. My rough plan for the new ISP (called "Terabit Telecommunications" (I have no idea if that name is taken, but if it is, I can come up with a few ideas)) is that I will offer speed plans that rival other telecom companies, as well as offer equal bandwidth allocation for everyone (rather than giving priority to people who pay for it) and offering synchronous speeds as well as asynchronous speeds for those who need better upload speeds (such as content creators, live streamers, etc.) and even offering speeds lower than 5 Mbps (it may sound like a bad idea, but think about it. If you just need internet for browsing the internet and/or just to access Facebook, etc. You only need about 1 Mbps download). No contracts, no cancellation fees, no extraneous fees, no stupid fees, and all fees are calculated before you confirm your service. If you need even more customized service, you can talk to an agent, and they will ask what you need internet for, and ask how many devices, etc. and offer a custom plan that is tailored to that specific user. There are a few problems with this idea, such as cost and funding, as well as working out a business plan and working out logistics, however, I believe it can be done, and I think it's about time that we get an ISP that doesn't BS you or try to do anything sly. Furthermore, as little data will be collected as possible for privacy reasons, and the default DNS will be a DNS that does not track you or collect data on you. No data will be sold to other companies, or anyone. At Terabit Telecommunications (If the name isn't taken) we treat our customers like people with lives, not just dollar signs! Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is it a good idea? Is there anything I am missing? [link] [comments] |

How big of a portion of the company to ask for from a startup? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 10:54 AM PDT Obviously one wants to own as much of the company as possible, but I'm looking at joining a startup as IT/Programming help for a portion of the company instead of a wage. I think this is a great opportunity since I'd love to own part of the company, but I wanted to know what others think is a "fair" ask. I'd be working with another programmer I know, so it would likely be the same or similar percentage for each of us. What have you given your programming/IT help on your startups where you can't pay a wage? What do you think would be a fair percentage if you were to bring on this type of help? [link] [comments] |
Is the end of the American dream coming to an end? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 10:41 AM PDT I'm a tattoo apprentice, I hope to open up my own shop down the line. A close friend of mine has the strong conviction that with all the changes going on and the potential economic collapse, "chasing your dream" so to speak isn't the wisest thing to do. That this is a time of extreme practicality and it's important to undertake essential work instead, trades etc. I somewhat agree but not sure how to feel about this. What's everyone else's opinion?
