Remember that $5k/ Month Twitter Bot Post?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 03:07 AM PDT

There was a post recently from a chap claiming to make $5k/month in passive income from a twitter bot.

Then there was a post shortly after by a u/Benson8799 who claimed he uncovered that it was all a ruse to get people to pay the OP to make bots for them.

Well, somewhere in between those two posts I decided to try it anyway, to see if it was possible. Even after I read the 'uncovering' post, I thought it still might be viable, and I commented as such.

Well since then I've been inboxed a whole ton of times by people asking if it actually worked.

    So I made a video about it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_224NtUHwM8

But before you shout that I'm just making money off it, I know most of you don't want to watch a whole video so I'll tell you what happened. (Having said that, I would appreciate any genuine views/likes/subscribes for the time it took to do the video 😅)

The TL;DW is that it is possible to make the bot, although as I talk about in the video, it took quite some persuading of Twitter to give me access to their APIs - and then the code was fairly simple to write, as I demonstrate there. But for me it didn't work, maybe I chose too broad a topics or maybe people just don't like following bots, but neither of the two accounts really got any followers or even likes/RTs to be fair. So there you go, you can write a bot, but it'll probably not generate you 50cents let a lone 5k a month.

Edit: I do believe this is my first award! Thanks stranger :)

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 06:24 AM PDT

Just wanted to share this here, cause lord knows everyone else around me is sick of hearing about scrunchies.

I started my scrunchie shop business two days ago! Had my expected family support- boyfriend, mum, etc. but I just had my first order from a complete stranger!!

It feels amazing. I literally cried. I'm hoping you can all relate and make me feel less like a crazy person.

Response to Fraud Order - Email Screenshot Included

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 12:03 PM PDT

Here's the email i just sent after winning a chargeback vs. a Fraud customer - https://imgur.com/gallery/jPJdZrJ

Backstory - I own an underwear brand and recently had a customer place an order of 6 pairs. Shipped it out to him and he received them.

He then emails my customer support saying that all 6 pairs are damaged and worn, and he wants a refund. I said sure thing, just send them back and I'll refund you in full.

He says that they're ALL not in their individual package and they came loose in the mailer. That's a lie, nothing leaves the factory non-packaged. In the crazy even that it happens, there's no way that 1 person would get all 6 worn pairs.

I asked for a photo of the tear so we can help him out, and he send a photo of some random gray fabric that's not ours. I even offered to pay the shipping cost back to our warehouse.

2 days later, he filed a chargeback with his credit card. Clearly wants to keep all 6 pairs and get his money back. We won the case, but I wanted to send him a message in the hopes that he gets scared to fraud other companies in the future. Absolute nonsense. Online fraud is getting way too common.

He just emailed all worried, but I'm gonna leave him hanging.

    Small milestone to celebrate

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 01:26 AM PDT

    Hey ya'll.

Feeling down in the dumps today so I wanted to take some time to reflect on some of my business accomplishments.

    1. Managing to run my business full-time from home for the past year! It's still crazy to me sometimes that I'm "jobless"

    2. Increasing gross sales this year! I've been doing almost $10K+ a month consistently this entire year.

    3. Hitting the 10,000 orders milestone! Can't believe I've packaged and shipped out that many myself.

I've still got a ways to go, but I needed to give myself a pat on the back. A small vacation would do well too :)

How do I approach a potential business partner?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 01:08 PM PDT

For a few years now I have had an idea for a unique business that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world. I recently heard a few friends express that they wish something just like it existed, so I've decided to actually give it a shot. My main obstacle is that I need to combine expertise from two fields, but I have very little technical knowledge in one of them. I've found some resumes for potential partners online, with one in particular sticking out as a near perfect match for my needs.

I'm prepared to offer one of these candidates a percentage of my company in exchange for their help getting it off the ground and beyond, but I have a couple of questions I'm hoping to get answered first.

As these candidates possess the knowhow to turn my idea into reality, how do I propose a partnership without leaving myself vulnerable to someone stealing the idea? Would an NDA suffice? I've read that many investors won't even sign an NDA just to hear your idea, but maybe it makes more sense in this case since I'm not looking for funding.

And how much of my company should I give up? I will handle the big picture stuff, customer acquisition and marketing, eventual expansion into other regions, etc. My partner will be responsible for much of the planning and execution required to get the business running, with a continued role in day to day operations continuing indefinitely.

Finally, are there any other obvious questions I should be asking?

    Twitter Bots for Everyone

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 10:56 AM PDT

Someone did post about making a twitter bot and earning money with it through automated ads. Then another user exposed the previous one claiming he asked for money to make a bot.

It's something which I've done for the past 2 years now so I thought why not give it to everyone. You can access the git repository at- https://github.com/imichaelmalik/twitter-bot

This bot automatically follows, unfollows users. You can tweet too if you use the tweetfunc().

However, you do need a few things. You need to have Python-3 installed on your computer (I use 3.7.5), You need to have PIP installed & Tweepy library which you can via this command- pip install tweepy (for Windows) or pip3 install tweepy (for Mac/Linux) & you also need a developer.twitter.com account (lol I know it's too much). Most of which can be easily found on YouTube.

    Cheers.

Does location matter when starting a Film Production studio?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 10:32 AM PDT

I truly need expert insight on how to weigh my options for either establishing myself somewhere where it is already a hub for production but will be extremely expensive and saturated, or initiating somewhere where it is not a hub for production, but will be cheaper and less saturated allowing for more contrast and better visibility?

The focus of the Film Production studio would be to mainly provide Post-Production services such as Visual Effects, Sound Design, Editing, etc. - and to also provide an interior studio facility for Production services such as Motion Capture, Soundstage Production, Virtual Production (using Unreal Engine), etc. for Live Action feature films, shorts, commercials, TV shows, and streaming content.

I am currently a Maryland resident, but I am trying to decide between relocating to New York to take advantage of the consistent sea of clients and filmmakers who take their craft seriously and are actually willing to pay for quality work OR staying in Maryland to initiate my startup with lower costs to both physical space and hiring crew/staff, but risk hurting my business due to less local clientele who aren't acclimated to feature film business - however it could help Maryland become more of a beacon for Feature Film and Entertainment.

Does this actually matter when it comes to providing these types of services? Obviously, some work such as the Post-Production can be done remotely from anywhere in the world, but it's also the facility usage that concerns me. If I remained in Maryland, and was able to afford a much larger studio warehouse space (maybe 80,000 sq ft. or more is only about $800k - $8 mil in Maryland) than operating in NYC, would it attract more serious filmmakers and companies to film their productions at my studio? Or would it hurt my business because it wouldn't be worth the trip versus conducting business in the already-well known and established New York City, or even going past Maryland and heading straight for Atlanta, Georgia?

Any and all advice will be genuinely appreciated! Thank you for your time! :)

    Drinks in Ontario Canada

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 04:24 AM PDT

Does anyone here no the best ways to find bottling requirements or companies that can bottle my drinks.

I have a drink that's quite popular with friends and family. I'm comfortable producing and selling in small batches, but I would like to grow it and pursue retail and wholesale.

It's a cold non carbonated drink and I'm in Ontario Canada.

I've been looking up food requirements but details are scarce. I've gone through the listing of beverage packagers in Ontario and there's no one lol.

Need donation recs for new company donations

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 09:58 AM PDT

    Hi all,

We're in the prelaunch stage of a candle company that will help others feel connected to a community and less lonely while offering sustainable candles. We were thinking that we can donate something for every purchase of a candle to help tie together our company and its values.

I would like some recommendations for which charities you think would mesh well with our purpose, and ideally, the donation would be something tangible. For the sustainability component, we were thinking of planting a tree for every candle sold, but we are looking for ideas to address the mental health/loneliness aspects of the company. Do you know of any charities for which a few dollars will have a tangible impact on addressing mental health (i.e. one dollar helps fund one phone call for the national suicide hotline.)?

The tricky part here is that we want the donation to be tangible and not just a percent of proceeds and that's very tough to do because in the mental health space counseling time is very costly. Also, ideally, the donation will happen per candle sold and not necessarily for every 10 candles sold.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for charities within the therapy/mindfulness/mental health/loneliness sectors. Looking forward to making many donations in the future.

    Thanks in advance.

0.5% on All Credit Transactions by deferring Payments - Sign up Early on Aurora

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 01:31 PM PDT

    Early Access Form

Aurora is a Virtual Credit Card Network using which Merchants can accept payments @ 0.5% by differing the payment to themselves. They essentially receive the money after the customer pays back to Aurora.

From a Business Standpoint, if a Merchant decides to defer payments of upto $100k for 1 month, he/she saves 1.5*12=18% per year in Costs. Further with an APR of 10% to the customers they earn an addition of 3% (100*0.3*0.1%) per year. But about 7% persons are expected not to pay on an Annualised level (US Average is 3.77%) , making the total Savings+Earnings = 18+10-5 = 23%

Note: The merchant actually never lends out $100k, they just defer the payment and in-exchange receive less Transaction Charges and Late Fees if the consumer keeps on Deferring.

    When Ambition Doesn't Match Motivation

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 09:30 AM PDT

Hey all, I'm curious to know what everyone does in situations where you or a friend have some serious amount of ambition, but lacking motivation to actually act.

My friend is always talking about his dreams, and let's be honest, we all have some pretty wild yet serious dreams we want to follow. He's very smart, he can tell you anything you want to know about health and living a healthy lifestyle. But he doesn't practice what he preaches by any means necessary. Whenever we get together, I'll reluctantly have a drink and we'll start talking about great plans for the future, but its all talk. When the time actually comes to take action, he comes up with some excuse not to do it.

I understand that a lot of people are this way, I like to see them more as an example of what not to be and use their lack of action as motivation for myself.

But he's my friend; I don't want to see him fail.

I truly wish him success, but I can only speak words to him. Only he can take the action that's needed to live the life I KNOW he so desperately wants (and definitely has the potential to achieve).

How do you go about instilling motivation in these kinds of people, or.. can you not? I don't want to lose a good friend by leaving him behind in this dull and dreary life we're living but I'm not going to put my life and motivations on hold waiting for him to find his.

What are your stories with people like this?

What I learned about building a personal brand online

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 09:17 AM PDT

For the past year, I've been creating videos online and growing an audience through that. And then, last week, my channel hit 1000 subscribers. This was a goal that seemed kind of unattainable a few months ago. While this is a small milestone and there's plenty of growth left to take place, I think there are a few key things that I've learned along the way… and these are things that can be applied to starting any venture from the ground up.

    1. Set a goal that you can control
    2. Aim for Consistency
    3. Be open to making sacrifices
    4. Identify what you enjoy about the process
    5. Pay attention to the market (or audience)
    6. Have Patience

There are certainly many other values and practices that matter, but these were the most pivotal to my growth online. I expect these keys to be applicable for any other entrepreneurial venture as well, and leaning into these practices will allow you to start from a stronger place. I discuss this in depth here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVZzBUaOUDU. Let me know if there are any other pillars that you rely on when pursuing your own ventures.

If you're an entrepreneur, here's how much your time is worth

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 09:03 AM PDT

Busy culture and the hustle tells us to put in more hours in order to be successful.

If time had a fixed value, increasing your wealth would require you to increase the amount of time you work proportionally. If that was the case, someone in a 9-5 job earning $50,000 a year would have to work an impossible 80 hours a day in order to earn $500,000.

Clearly, there must be some value beyond the clock. Time is worthless.
It's what you choose to do during that time that creates any value.

When I left my corporate job to be "free", I got stuck at my own office desk working 16 hour days.
It's when I started looking at the value of my time that I managed to focus on the right things, and day by day build a business that allows me to travel and enjoy my lifestyle, guilt-free.

The point is to calculate how much money you want each hour of work to generate: the fewer hours you want to spend at your desk, the more ruthless you have to be. Get that rate up, focus on what you do best, and eliminate, automate, or delegate the rest.

Here's how it works: literally take your next earning goal, and divide by the number of hours you want to work each year. That's the minimum value you have to create with each hour at your desk or laptop. Anything else is a waste of time.

Use pen and paper to figure it out (you can also use this free calculator), and then put that number as your wallpaper, so that you never get distracted by activities that don't generate results for you and your business. Sure, it'll be uncomfortable to let go of tempting little tasks, but it can be a game-changer.

    Focus and get effective!

What's your technique to select what to focus on? Share in the comment replies!
