Is my landlord allowed to restrict my life?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 12:21 AM PDT

by the way. i live in alberta canada

I recently moved from my small town to the big city to go to university. Being freshly 18, and eager to get out I decided to rent an apartment with a fellow coworker. My roommate has not yet moved in though I have just settled in myself and began meeting new people. After a long night at the bar, I decided to bring someone home as they were unable to drive themselves home.

We instantly passed out once we got into our apartment, and were quick to leave the next day. However, in the morning I got an angry call from my landlord. the conversation went something like this

"Does your dad know you're sneaking boys in at night? Yeah, that's what I thought. Don't make this a habit" He had watched over the camera footage from the previous night, and had seen that I had brought the boy in question home.

I was shocked and didn't know what to say as our lease does not say anything about having guest overnight. it simply underlines that a guest must not stay more than 10 consecutive nights.

Fast forward a few hours, and me and my friends decided to watch a movie at my place before heading out. It was 6:00 o'clock and as my friends and I march in the landlord calls me over, and instantly starts spewing words. He informs me that he isn't running a frat house, and that I can't be bringing people into my apartment willy nilly with friends.

I questioned him on wether or not I was allowed guests and he said I was as long as they are out by 11:00.

NOWHERE IN OUR LEASE AGREEMENT IS THIS MENTIONED, AND HE HAD SIMPLY MADE THIS RULE FOR ME.

I am frustrated and dreading my time here for the next year. I need help. Is this something he can do? Do I have to put up with this behaviour? I feel like i'm trapped at home.

School has "lost" or refused to follow my child's 504 multiple times

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 07:05 AM PDT

I live in a small town in Tennessee and my son's guidance counselor has become a terror in regards to following and giving teachers a copy of the 504 plan. The first issue arose when I asked for a 504 meeting and was told I had to wait 3 months (until the end of the school year) to get one. I called the school board and they stepped in and set one up after a few days. Fast forward to the next school year. I emailed my son's teachers after the first 9 week period to see if her was being allowed extra time and they informed me he did not have a 504. I went up to the school and the guidance counselor straight up told me that my son never had a 504, they only discussed having a meeting but if I can make a copy of the 504 plan magically appear she would take a look at it. I handed her a copy and her response was "oh."

Fast forward to this year. I know I need to have a meeting to rehash the 504 plan but I was informed by the guidance counselor that until one would be arranged that the previous one would be followed. Cool right? Nope. She informed my son's teachers that I was "crazy" and that my kid didn't have a 504 plan ever. Any conversation that I have with this woman that is not witnessed by another school employee "never happened." She's very dominating and cold towards anyone that questions her authority. Tuesday will be my fourth phone call placed to the head of special education with a complaint. What other steps can I take to ensure this doesn't continue?

    Edit for clarification-

He has been through the 504 process and was diagnosed with disabilities.

I scheduled an IEP meeting last year, they strongly objected to an IEP.

I have been in contact 4 times with the head of special education for the school district over issues with the 504 not being given to teachers, followed or in the one case where I had to magically make it appear. All the issues stem from the guidance counselor.

At this point I feel it's the guidance counselor being vindictive over my reporting her conduct and losing his 504.

I have been in contact with 3 other parents who had received the same treatment from the guidance counselor.

I pointed a gun at a child (approx. 8-10) after he fired a rifle nearly hitting me in the process

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 02:33 AM PDT

The title sounds bad, but I am currently under investigation by the Canadian Government for pointing a firearm at a child after the child in question fired a rifle (an SKS), nearly hitting me in the process.

What happened was I was at the shooting range, having a nice time firing my weapons, when family (mom, dad, two sisters, and a brother) comes to the range. I notice the boy, around 8-10 not being exactly safe with the firearm (pointing the weapon in the concrete ground, leaving firearms unattended while loaded, etc.), so I remind him to always keep the gun pointed down range, and he nods. Keep in mind, the dad went to the other range with the two daughters, so the it was just me, the boy, and his mother. His mother is not shooting any weapon, just browsing facebook or playing candy crush. I am getting annoyed that this kid is not following gun safety rules very well, so I remind him again, and he says "Mhm" and at this point, I realize, this kid is obviously not able to be trusted with a gun. I dont say anything, since I do not want a mother and father yelling at me (I am very timid as a person). And not even thirty seconds later, it happens.

I am reloading my pistol, when I hear the rifle fire, and a bullet wizz right past my face. Like, if I was firing my weapon, at the time, I would be dead. I am pissed at this, and tell him to get the fuck down on the ground, and he does. The mother starts screaming at me, asking what the fuck I was doing, and telling me to put my weapon down, so I do, while she takes the rifle away from the child, who is crying his eyes out. I ask her why the fuck she cant control her kid, and she yells at me, and the dad comes back and yells at me, for pointing a gun at their little angel. The daughters, on the other hand, actually seem to have a brain, and start yelling at their parents, and then a police officer comes by, and detains everyone, since he saw everything on a range camera. He asks us all questions, then he releases us, telling us to leave the range. This happened two months ago, and the parents are suing me for child endangerment, resulting in the government investigating me, suspending my PAL (Canadian firearms license), and seizing my weapons in the process.

I have no idea what the outcome might be, since I was legally defending myself, but at the same time, it was a young child who pointed a gun at me. I dont want to be a felon, but at the same time, I was legally defending myself. What can I do?

Sorry for the really bad grammar, I have terrible writing skills.

I found inappropriate and violating pictures of my neighbor on my boyfriend's phone, taken without her consent.

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:06 AM PDT

A few days ago, I found pictures my boyfriend had taken of our neighbor through her window while she was naked on her bed, in her own bedroom. This was done without her consent or knowledge. Can anyone please tell me what kind of crime this is? We live in Illinois.

EDIT: I am not looking to get him into legal trouble OR to defend his actions. This will be the end of our relationship. As a victim of a similar crime, there is no going back from here. I'm just curious where this lands in terms of the law, and what I'm dealing with.

Am I allowed to let go an autistic employee who can't perform any required job duties? (OH)

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 03:28 AM PDT

We have this 19ish year old autistic guy that we hired a couple months ago. I help manage a fast casual style restaurant. With special needs people, we typically train them on how to clean the dining room or run orders out to customers. We have tried doing both with this individual, but he just hasn't caught on.

For the dining room, their duties involve a high level of cleanliness. There are checklists of touch points to hit every hour, and they need to jump on every table as they leave. They should also touch tables to see if people need anything. He wasn't able to do this effectively. He doesn't stay in the dining room and will wander back behind the counter. He also didn't understand how to use each of the cleaning chemicals that we need to have. Also, he doesn't really talk to people. Sometimes if a customer asks him for something, he will just ignore them. I've gotten a few complaints from customers thinking he's being rude.

For running orders it's much simpler. All we want is for the runner to stand next to the expo person and be available to take the orders out to customers. You don't have to run them, but a little hustle is nice. We also want them to read off the receipt to confirm the order. With this individual, he again has a hard time staying in one place. I constantly have to tell him to head back to his spot because there are orders needing to be taking out. He also doesn't confirm orders, which leads to mistakes.

It's becoming too much to handle with as busy as we are, trying to keep him on task. I had talked to his father previously about issues we had, which we then worked on, but it hasn't really gotten better. He really only works one day a week for like 4 hours. If I were to let him go, would there be any way that this could come back to me or our restaurant for discrimination?

Can I take Jiffy Lube to small claims court for this?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:35 AM PDT

5 months ago, I went to Jiffy Lube to get my oil changed. As far as I knew, everything was fine that time. 2 months ago, (I drive a lot), I went back to get my oil changed again. The guy at the Jiffy Lube, the same guy who did the oil change last time, repeatedly asked me if I had gone somewhere else before I came to them that time. I said no, the last place to touch my car was them. He kept insisting I had to have gone somewhere else and finally told me that the drain plug was super glued to the oil container thing and "someone else must have done it" (keep in mind this is the same guy who did the oil change last time so he knows good and well he's the one who superglued it, he was just trying to deflect blame and make me "confess" to having gone somewhere else so he wouldn't be in trouble). He said they were going to fix it, they'd order me a new drain plug and told me to come back the next day. So, I came back the next day and they "fixed it".

Fast forward to 2 days ago, I'm driving and the "red triangle of death" light comes on and so does the oil light. A couple seconds later, the car starts driving very slow like it's in the neutral position, and I'm barely able to pull into a parking lot before it stops completely. The brakes and gas pedals felt weird to press, like they were kind of locked. I checked the oil stick since the oil light came on and there was NO oil whatsoever in the car. I had been driving a car with no oil. This was suspicious to me because the car wasn't due for an oil change for another 1,000 miles. The car wasn't drivable so I had to get it towed to a mechanic shop. I told them all of this, including the Jiffy Lube incident because I had a feeling it had something to do with it.

The mechanic calls me later in the day and says that yes, it was very much so Jiffy Lube's fault because remember how they "fixed" the drain plug? NO THEY DIDN'T. They left that same superglued drain plug on, put silicone on it, and put a "tamper seal" sticker over it. Obviously the heat of a car melts all of those things pretty easily so oil was leaking out this whole time. The mechanic said that Jiffy Lube cross-threaded something in the oil pan (I'm not too familiar with car terminology) so the drain plug was having difficulty screwing back in, and apparently instead of telling me, they did this "hack job" and just thought they wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. They didn't bother telling me that they had messed up the drain plug or anything in the first place. They also said during the last time I was there (when they "fixed" the drain plug) that they did an oil change and charged me $70 for it but they physically couldn't have done the oil change if they didn't even remove the drain plug (BECAUSE IT WAS SUPERGLUED) so they charged me for literally nothing.

The car is ruined. The engine and transmission are completely destroyed due to the lack of oil and I have to buy a whole new car. Do I have a case for small claims court? Can I demand they pay the repairs the mechanic did so far (he had to put oil in the car and fix some of the oil related parts of the car just to determine whether the engine and transmission were damaged or not)? Can I demand they pay for the cost of a new car?

Edit: changed the name back to Jiffy Lube because I named them in the title anyway.

Annoying neighbor won't stop getting in our way and she threatened to call the police when we tried to build a fence. What should we do?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 06:12 AM PDT

This takes place in Virginia, in the northern region of the state, near DC.

My mother owns another property which she uses to host small Buddhist gatherings (<10 people at a time, even before pandemic) and she intends to develop it a little bit. Our neighbor on the other hand, is a diehard Christian with the whole "no other religion than mine" kinda thing. I'm not saying Christians are bad, but this neighbor in particular is kind of a twat. When we first tried to build a fence, my mom was aware of the multiple previous times she has annoyingly messed with us in subtle ways (standing at the border taking photos, standing in her back yard watching everything we do, etc) so to cover our bases, we had some surveyors from the county mark the exact border of our property. Annoying neighbor attempted to move these markers, but we caught her and put them back. Now that we are actually building the fence, annoying neighbor told one of the workmen that she would call the police.

    What do we do?

Landlord claims my AC works perfectly fine despite it regularly reaching 80 degrees (F) in my one bedroom unit [TX]

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 12:08 PM PDT

I started leasing this condo in July of this year. Ever since the first day, I've had problems with my AC not cooling to where it should. It started by not cooling past around 76, and I called and complained that I didn't think it was working properly. They sent an HVAC tech out the next day while I was gone, and he left a note stating he checked it and it works fine. After another week or so of hotter and hotter temps, this time getting up to 78-79, I sent an email to the property management office claiming that I'd really appreciate another look at my AC unit. They sent another guy out a couple days later, this time while I was home. He was here probably no more than 30 minutes, and when he was about to leave, I asked if he found anything wrong with it. He instantly claimed that he "wasn't supposed to discuss the matter with me" but claims he fixed a couple minor things. They called me the next day to ask how it was handling again, and I stated that it seems like it might be working slightly better, as in 1 degree better (it was hitting 77 still), but that it's still not to where it should be. The maintenance supervisor claimed that they couldn't do anything else besides replacing the AC unit, which would be up to the owner to pay for and not them. Since then, it has hit 80 degrees in my unit on an almost daily basis. My lease states that they have an obligation to maintain AC equipment, and I have a right to terminate my lease if they fail to uphold this obligation (with some criteria). I have saved my second email notice asking for a second opinion, and I have recently sent a letter by certified mail requesting it to be fixed once again and stating that I reserve the right and fully intend to break my lease if this is not taken care of by October. After the property manager received my letter, she called me and actually yelled at me that there's nothing they're going to do, the AC works just fine, that she's going to pursue legal action if I break my lease, and even proceeded to condescend me by saying, "This is Texas honey, it gets hot here, you just have to get used to it"....I'd just like to add that I've lived in Texas my entire life, including several different apartments in this very same city, and never had an issue like this with my AC. I have followed the criteria as outlined in Paragraphs 31.2 and 31.3 in my lease agreement linked above. I don't really want to move though. I'm in my final and craziest year of school to date, and moving would only add on more stress. But this situation is only made worse because I'm working from home as well as attending the majority of my classes online, so I have to sit here in 80 degree temps while I try to do so. Window units and cardboard/foil in the windows to block the sun are also strictly prohibited by my HOA. I'd like to work with her to potentially get my rent reduced at the very least considering I'm paying massive amounts in utility bills just to attempt to cool this place down, but with the way she sounded over the phone, I don't think she's willing to work with me at all. I'd like to get some more opinions on the matter and I guess some validation that breaking my lease would be within my rights if that's something that I end up doing. My worry is that the AC unit might actually be functional, it's just not adequate enough to cool down my condo. I'm almost positive this would be their defense in court since the lease agreement does seem vague, and they keep claiming the AC is working perfectly fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Fired for defending myself against sexual assault by a coworker (AL)

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 01:00 PM PDT

Thursday morning I was talking to my supervisor when a coworker walked up and said something very rude to him, then yanked my earplug out by the cord. I told him "You seriously need to fuck off". His response was "Why don't you fuck off?!?" and slapped my breast. I looked at my supervisor, who just had a shocked look on his face. So I told the guy if if touched me again I was going to beat the shit out of him. He responded by, again, slapping my breast. I hit him in the face about 3 times before my supervisor pulled me back. I was immediately walked to HR and gave a written statement, and was suspended "pending investigation". Two other witnesses saw everything and it was all on the security camera. But yesterday afternoon I was called and told I was fired because "my actions fell outside the company code of conduct". I've previously been highly praised for all my work and have never been in any trouble of any kind, inside or out of work.

To me, this seems incredibly wrong. My supervisor witnessed the assault and did nothing. Do I not have the right to defend myself at work?

Help! Sister used my name when arrested for possession of heroin (NJ)

    Posted: 04 Sep 2020 03:31 PM PDT

My sister has been an active heroin user for about 6 years- plenty of arrests, warrants, etc. My fiance and I were both picking up applications for our firearms purchasing ID today. Out of curiosity, I ended up searching NJ municipal court database for both our names. Lo and behold I almost pass out when I see "I" was arrested in June for possession of CDS (heroin). So far I've contacted the municipality where the arrest was made, the case was moved the superior court- contacted them left a few voicemails, and had someone in the criminal division give me a call back.

I was pretty much told that it's going to stay on my record since it's an alias now used by my sister (she gave my name and the wrong birth year) and I will have to carry a letter with me in case I ever need to prove it wasn't me (and also to give to future employers..- i work in finance and I really would prefer my name to be clear!). I called the municipality that I live in to file an identity theft report and they told me that they couldn't do much besides put a note in their system- no report was filed. Is there any way to get this OFF my record? I took a few days off for the first time all year and was hoping to enjoy it after a very stressful year and throw this on top of it... no idea where to even turn! I appreciate any help!

    Dog scratched UPS guy

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 11:28 AM PDT

Brief background: ups guy was delivering package, dog got excited and jumped on him giving him a small scratch above one of his fingernails. It was slightly bleeding so we offered to clean it up and we gave him a band aid and some water. He was very cool about it and everything was good.

Like a year later/now, we got a letter from liberty mutual saying there was a workers comp claim against us for that ups employee, and that we are responsible to pay for it. We thought it wasnt that serious as there is no way workers comp got filed for a scratch. Few months later we got a letter saying they tried several times contacting us and no one has gotten back to them even though we called many times and left voicemail, no one ever answers. The letters are addressed to homeowner, no individuals actual name. They said legal action will be taken if we don't pay them $132 within 30 days, without a contract or anything, it seems sketchy.

Any advice? This is in california btw

Tenant Mold Problem. What to do next?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:01 AM PDT

I have a tenant who has mold in his body (sick from mold allergy) and is claiming it is from my rental house. I had a mold remediation company come out and give recommendations on what they thought should be done. They found mold behind a baseboard and recommended all vertical surfaces be sanitized. The renter wanted a full testing but i said that I acknowledged the mold and I just wanted to get it fixed. He said that if I was going to use that company I should not even bother. I don't quite know what to do now. Any advice at what I should do next, Is a remediation test necessary if I have a company that has given me advice on how to fix it?

Can my landlord/owner of the house put up political signs in the lawn?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:23 AM PDT

I currently live in OH and had a few questions regarding tenant law. I'm renting a house with my gf and we have had a situation I am just looking for clarification on. I work from home and am often on the phone. A couple weeks ago, a car pulled into the driveway and stared putting up political signs in the yard. Not that I'm against the candidate, but I had no knowledge that they would be here and had not given permission so I took them down. Afterwards, the owner came to the house and introduced himself and mentioned that he's had an agreement with local groups that they can use the lawn to place signs in and that "it doesn't matter if you agree or not that's just how it is". My question is, as a tenant, do I have a say as to what can go in the lawn of the house I am renting?

FedEx lost my ARP2600 and ProAudioStar won’t resolve the claim

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 03:27 AM PDT

The very limited quantity $3899 (plus tax) ARP2600 synthesizer I purchased from ProAudioStar (on an Affirm payment plan with interest) was supposed to deliver in mid March, FedEx LOST IT, and I filed a claim in mid April. Now, in September, the tracking still says pending, PAS still hasn't resolved the claim, no one will respond to my emails, and I still don't have my synthesizer...

I plan to try to cancel payment through Affirm next week if PAS doesn't respond to my latest email, but I'm not sure if that's possible, and I've never hired a lawyer before... I would really appreciate any advice

PS edit - I have been and am still paying ~$140/mo for this item I haven't received...

Moving company owner harassing me over a bad review

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 12:44 PM PDT

I'm in Minnesota and hired a moving company through U-Haul's website (it takes you to an aggregator (movinghelp.com) of unaffiliated moving companies where you select the one you want) to help me move across town.

The experience was over all terrible and I left a bad review on the aggregator website. The owner is now calling me repeatedly and texting me despite me telling him to stop the harassment.

How can I go about reporting this to some agency that holds businesses responsible for actions such as this? If they show up on movinghelp.com they must be accredited in some way, right?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Maintenance entered wrong apartment while I was asleep

I did not even realize it was maintenance and thought someone had broken into my home while my two month old and I were sleeping. When I confronted him he said no one answered so he just came in and then proceeded to ask if my balcony was broken, which it was not. I said it wasn't and then he just left without saying anything. He entered the wrong apartment and did not even apologize. I'm wondering if I can do anything wether it be break my lease without any penalties or pursue any kind of legal action (Michigan)

Furniture store Owner (My boss) wants me to sell floor model mattresses, specifically telling customers it will be ordered in new.

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 07:40 AM PDT

Because of COVID the mattress industry is getting destroyed with lead times. what was once a 2-4 week turn around has turned into 8-12. One of our suppliers is rumored to no longer be fulfilling orders for anyone but large chains.

Due to this, the owner is dropping the brand and clearing out inventory. If a customer is interested in an item we have on the floor we are to sell it to them, tell them how we have one on order and should be getting it sooner than the expected lead time, and then wrap and deliver the floor model a week later.

This is morally reprehensible but I'm also thinking it is Illegal, especially since floor models are over a year old and that affects their warranty.

Bought a used car based on lies... SCAMMED!

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 11:51 AM PDT

    I'm from San Diego california.

I made some dumb mistakes of buying a used car. This is how it went...

I contacted the seller asking him how long he has on the vehicle I was interested in. He told me he owned it for five years and at the car has 112,000 miles. For the sake of this example, I will say his name is Tony.

I came by Tony's home and look at the car. Sure enough the car had 112,000 miles. He had a signed pink slip ready for me with his name on it, handed it to me and I gave him $6600 and went on my way. On the way home I realized he did not give me a smog check! I texted him about it and he casually said "no worries, the car will pass smog 100%"

When I got home, I sat down to look over the pink slip and something told me to look up a Carfax (stupid of me to do it after the fact) and I realized that the car had the odometer tampered with. The car previous service showed that it had about 250,000 miles! After doing a little more research with his address and phone number, I realize that his name is not Tony, it's "Bob."

Bob sold me a car with no smog check, tampered odometer, and also title jumped. Also, I realize that he is the third owner, not the second. The person he bought the car from and also whose name was on the pink slip was the second owner. He told me he owned the car for five years, but I quickly realize that he only owned it for about a month. My theory is that he bought the car, realized he was being scammed just like me, and turned around and title flipped it.

Obviously I've been bamboozled! Does anybody know if I legally have any rights to go back and ask for my money back?

Kicked Out of Sorority, Trying to Make Her Pay Full Year's Rent (CA)

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 02:23 AM PDT

Hey everyone, quick question here. My girlfriend was recently kicked out of her sorority house, where she had been living. The sorority terminated her lease because she broke one of the rules listed under "general rules" on the housing contract. Elsewhere in the contract, it states that any resident member who breaches the terms of the agreement and has their housing terminated as a result can still be charged for the rest of the year's payments, even though they are not allowed to live in the house.

My question is: can the sorority actually compel her to continue to pay to live in the house, despite having forced her out of living in the house? This is in California. They're saying that if she does not contest, they will only hold her responsible for one semester of payments, but if she does contest, she could be responsible for the whole year.

Sexual Assault in the Workplace Help

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 12:36 PM PDT

Long time lurker, first time posting. I need help, and this is the first place I thought of. Hopefully this doesn't get buried. I work in a chain food business. Leaving most details out for privacy sake. My manager started advancing on me earlier this year and I honestly was slightly blinded by it, it caught me by surprise. We're both pretty young. Close in age, and he started really getting physically forward and touchingnme a lot. Ass grabbing, grabbing at me a lot. Saying really NSFW things. Including adding me on social media as a way to contact me there. It wasn't unwanted per say, but it did make me incredibly uncomfortable and I told him to stop often but would refuse. I finally snapped at a point and told him in no uncertain terms to fuck off. He moved onto my other coworker and close friend and she was really unsettled by the whole thing. He'd make comments like "she'll come around or I'll make it happen" and it was very... sickening. She wold always refuse but would wake up to extremely sexual messages and not respond. He's really vengeful and aggressive sometimes so we backed off as we're both smaller girls and didn't want to provoke him. Well. Recently, he started hitting on our 16y/o old staff member. This man is also a sex offender, mind you. Which we found out recently and the charge is BAD. It's an older charge from teenage years but regardless it's disgusting. We immediately FREAKED out and confronted him, to which he denied and backed off.

Here's where I need help. A friend of my coworkers reported him to HR. However, HR not only told him the friends full name, they also didn't do anything at all. Now we are terrified to report him to HR because they won't keep us anonymous while we still work here and he is already treating us poorly and using the schedule to abuse us. Are they allowed to give him full names of people who report him for sexual assault? We want to stand up for our younger coworker and we owe her that but we're scared of how he will react when they call him and say "oh so and so from your store said this, can you believe that?" Please help. Any advice is needed. What legal advice can you give us.

I posted this on r/CPS I'm currently the guardian/caretaker of my niece. I smoke a little weed, if I tell child protection services will they take her away?

What to do if I suspect my ex is leaving my 3 children home alone while he works nights?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:42 AM PDT

I am divorced from my ex husband. He has 75% custody of our two daughters (8 year old twins) and 1 son (10). Judging from various comments my children have made, I suspect that he is leaving them home entirely alone while he works nightshift from 10pm to 6am. When I ask them more I am told "I don't know" and they clam up as if they know not to say anything. We are both in Northern California

If this is true, then I believe he is neglecting our children and I should have full custody. Here are the options I see and the issues with each:

    1. Call CPS. They are overworked and might not think it's a big deal. They might just call him and he will deny it and have someone falsely claim they've been staying with the kids at night.
    2. Call the police. They may think I'm wasting their time. I doubt they would investigate
    3. Call him and ask him if this is happening. He'll deny it and might punish my children for telling me
    4. Hire a private investigator to document that he is doing this and then take the evidence to either the court, or CPS, or the police
    5. Hire a family law attorney to manage all of this.

My end goal is to have full custody, as if he actually is doing this, I would completely question his lack of judgment and believe that he should not have any unsupervised custody.

What is the best way for me to proceed?

Company firing me because I won’t give up personal phone records!

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 11:30 AM PDT

So during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic my company like many others was doing telehealth. We were expected to use our personal cell phones (however they gave us a small stipend to do so) and were told we had to use free versions of zoom and doxyme. In August my company sent home papers to our clients listing the dates and times we worked with them (I am a therapist) a disgruntled client who had previously asked off my case called my office and stated that her phone records did not match up with what I had written. I explained to my company that it was because I did zoom meetings as well and I even had it documented in my paperwork, however my company is now stating that if I do not turn over my personal phones records they are going to fire me. Is this legal? I live in Pennsylvania.

    Grandparent's Rights

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 07:01 AM PDT

After a long battle of trying to mend my relationship with my mother, she has proven she can't be bother to change or try to be a better person. We have decided to discontinue contact with her for awhile. We still have contact with my dad, who is married to her. We live in a different state and move frequently for my spouse's career. They have seen my child twice in 10 months. Used to videochat weekly or every other week, mostly with my dad while Mom was just in the room. This stopped in June. Dad has been offered the option to still videochat without Mom present, but is guilt tripping and refuses to alone.

My question is if they decide to sue for grandparent's rights will they have file in the state we are residing in, our home state of record, or their state? Will our moving reopen the case each time? Will we be forced to foot the travel costs if they are granted visitation or will they have to travel to us? From what I can find on the internet, they have to prove a relationship with a bond in most states, can they even claim a relationship with a baby under a year?

We cut contact with Mom this week. In the past she has made comments about not keeping grandkids from her. Both of them also believe they have a right to see my child. I just want to know if they even remotely have a case or is my child young enough that any judge would laugh at their claim.

    Thank you.
