Business to business sales what’s your workflow? - Small business owner. Posted: 08 Sep 2020 11:05 AM PDT I run a small marketing company and am always looking to increase my productivity. Right now I leave name number and value proposition when I cannot get a hold of a decision maker. When I do get a hold of a decision maker I focus on the value of our service. I do roughly 5 hours of sales in the morning then move over to working on my projects for existing clients. Every night I make a full list of business to contact for the next morning. Any advice to maximize that 5 hour window would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Transitioning into Sales, HELP!! Posted: 08 Sep 2020 07:36 AM PDT I have a Computer Science degree (minor in Math) and have been working as a software developer for a health insurance company for about 3.5 years. Long story short, I hate programming and I hate health insurance so I have been looking to transition into a new career. Sales has really stood out to me for a while as the income potential is high and the harder you work, the more you make typically. I have specifically had an interest in real estate sales, the primary issue is I need a base salary to cover my bills for the time being and 100% commission is a no go. I have applied to several New Home Sales Associate positions in my area and seem to always get rejected without even an interview. I suspect it's most likely due to my lack of experience in any form of sales but I suppose it could just be I'm not competitive as everyone is fighting for jobs right now. There are also a limited number of sales positions (it looks like to me) that pay a base salary in my area. I live in Columbia, SC for reference. Am I just jumping the gun on the positions I am applying to? Are there more entry level positions I should apply for? How did you transition into a career in Sales? What other sales industry have you enjoyed working in? What can I do to stand out with my lack of experience? Thanks in advance for your responses!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2020 10:30 AM PDT I'm selling an extra lip-sync animation package to a large company I'm doing a game for. I'm gonna show them basic included flapping mouth lip sync and then luxury deluxe lip sync animations. In what order should I show these? [link] [comments] |
New job is making me suicidal, is the job market that bad? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 04:24 PM PDT Long story short, I got laid off in June from a big corp. No college degree, but I have more than 10 years of B2B sales experience and I speak 5 languages. I got a job mid-august selling computer hardware. I was promised a bunch of stuff, but within a month I realized that this job FUCKING SUCK.
I come home everyday feel like hanging myself. Should I just milk it until my draw is over and then look for another job? This job is soul crushing. [link] [comments] |

Are we beginning to see the end of email prospecting / cold emails (SDRs, SaaS) Posted: 08 Sep 2020 11:52 AM PDT First the email blindness (people just ignore prospecting emails) Then the email filters (sends you to SPAM or JUNK) Then government spam ACT on prospecting emails Now, it's becoming the norm that emails are marked as "External Email" on your prospects' inbox (if it even lands their inbox at all) Needless to say, it's hard to prospect by email and it's becoming the new FAX. How are you dealing with this?

Struggling to take the next step Posted: 08 Sep 2020 11:43 AM PDT Im a district manager at ADP, and have been for 2.5 years, since I graduated college. Between seeing all of my colleagues leave, and growing a general contempt for my job and management, I'm ready to take the next step. Im looking for: remote, ~70k base, and freedom/autonomy. Maybe I'm being unrealistic but I feel this is very doable. What industries should I look into? Or even companies specifically. I've been trying to get into SaaS, so any words of advice? Or if anyone can point me in the general right direction that'd be awesome. [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on prospecting methods. Posted: 08 Sep 2020 11:07 AM PDT I took a new job in July and I'm struggling to fill my pipeline.. I feel pretty defeated. But, I'm not giving into the woe-is-mes and hope I could get some thoughts on what I am doing right and if you think I'm doing reasonably well within the context of my job. For context, I don't have a territory, which is difficult because every other rep does. Even several reps that started in different parts of the region than me have territories and they're filling up their pipelines nicely. So I have to be careful not to step on toes with existing accounts, which is hard because our CRM is missing a lot of info and some folks I've connected with aren't in Salesforce, but already have worked with other reps. I've already had several incidences where my colleagues are pissed that I've gone after accounts on their turf accidentally. Our business as a whole does not do a lot of cold prospecting. We rely on existing relationships, large tenders and the like as some of the systems can be very costly. As such, there is no successful method already in place that I can emulate. We don't have ZoomInfo or any other prospecting tool. I had to pitch the cost of LinkedIn Sales Nav pretty hard just to get my bosses buy-in. What I've been doing is using LinkedIn Sales Nav to find prospects (I typically hunt for job titles like General/Facility/Plant/Operations Manager), crossing-referencing in CRM to see if they exist already as a customer, try and dig up their email address (I like hunter.io)and then I record a personalized 2 minute video which I send to them. The response rate has been actually very good - 25% so far. The kicker is that they all responded to say variations of "love the video, great job for thinking outside the box! Thanks, but we are are already on contract with someone else and won't be doing anything with you". What I'm wondering is: 1) Am I doing something wrong. 2) Am I grossly overestimating the outreach and need to boost the numbers before actually getting a close on this cold calling method (so far I've sent out 40 videos with no qualified leads thus far). I suspect this may be the case, but it's hella time-consuming to dig up these potential prospects and their contact info. 3) Is cold calling simply not the best method within this type of industry. Systems can be expensive - on the smaller side it can be $5,000-$10,000. Most businesses already have these systems in place and so it's a matter of convincing them they need the upgrade or showing up at just the right time. Sometimes I wonder if I am actually just shit at sales, but I did really well at my last job of nearly 6 years. Was well-respected and had good numbers. And I have received a few small leads in the last few weeks, so far I've closed 2 of 4 and I'm working on the 3rd. So I'm no fool, I just need to tweak my methodology. Thanks for your attention to such a long post! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2020 11:05 AM PDT Hey everyone, Finished my degree this week. I've spent the past 3 months trying to get a SDR/BDR role here in Canada in tech. I've been getting some interviews by messaging hiring managers on Linkedin, etc. That whole strategy. I have a great story, a good resume, I close in interviews, I ask good questions, I think I'm personable, I have a work experience (non sales). I'm trying to follow everything I have read. Each job that I don't get, I am told that they chose someone with actual sales experience although they all say I did a great job interviewing. I don't blame them, I would do the same in their position. I get that it is a numbers game, I will keep pushing forward, and I will eventually get something. I make this post for two reasons:
I am a confident guy. I am perfect for sales and I want to excel and to work. I've literally been dreaming about interviews haha. Any tips or advice beyond the standard would really be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2020 10:23 AM PDT Hi all, I'm been working as SaaS SDR for a little over 7 months now and wanted to get a gauge on what my fellow SDRs face in quota every quarter. My current quota is 600k pipeline added per quarter (which I am on track to exceed) with an ACV of 24k per logo. Is this in line with what other SDRs are currently facing based on the ACV in their industry? [link] [comments] |
Econ Major looking to get out of sales Posted: 08 Sep 2020 09:50 AM PDT Hey all, I am currently working as an Account Manager for a staffing company and I've been curious to know what other industries I could transition into. The only sales companies I've worked for have been staffing companies so I'm not sure if sales is not for me or if I would have more enjoyment selling a software I would be interested in and passionate about. Posted: 08 Sep 2020 09:46 AM PDT Hi guys! I'm based in Europe and I'm interviewing for one of the main APM providers. I am liking the organisation a lot and the product seems really cool. Does any of you work in this industry (also US is welcome)? how is progression like? I would love to hear your experience! [link] [comments] |

Is it better to work in small company or big company pharmaceutical sales Posted: 07 Sep 2020 09:25 PM PDT I am starting a new job soon selling pharmacy products. It is a small company with only 7 people and has only been around for a few years. How would I know if this company is a good company to work for? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:21 AM PDT I work in the trade show industry for the Tech sector and recently bought on a new client for our events. They are a big technology firm and I've always wanted to work their given their reputation and growth. It's quite early days in terms of the client relationship but I wanted to get people's thoughts on asking a client if they have any roles available - is it unprofessional? I've got a call with a senior DM from this company next week so trying to figure out what to do. [link] [comments] |
Outside Sales--New job offer but territory is too far of a commute from home Posted: 07 Sep 2020 03:16 PM PDT I recently applied to a competitor company just to learn more and basically make connections in the industry (industrial sales/service). The role was something I wasn't too sold on but the company has a strong reputation in my industry. Long story short I got the job. I despise my current company due to bad owners, terrible hours and no upward movement. I've been there 2 years and the current owner is the worst boss I've ever had and I know I won't be moving vertically through the company as it's family owned. This new job pays an extra 20k a year and everything I have heard throughout the industry tells me they are a desirable company to work for. The only issue is that the territory I'll be working in seems to be too much of a commute from my house and would equate to an extra 3 hours in the car per day. I know that I'm lucky to receive an offer in this economic climate but I just can't justify accepting strictly due to the commute. Even though my current job is not the greatest it at least is close to home and allows me to keep looking. I need to speak with the potential new manager tomorrow to let him know about my decision/questions I may have. Am I making the right decision sticking where I am, or would it be smart to bring up my concerns and at least leave the door open for any future job opportunities there? Thank you [link] [comments] |
Heavy Equipment Sales or fun sales jobs in South Florida Posted: 07 Sep 2020 09:29 PM PDT Does selling construction vehicles make good money? I've given up on finding any decent tech companies here in South Florida (Broward). On indeed 90% of sales jobs are bullshit door to door home improvement, merchant cash advance, or life insurance (studying to get my license actually but mostly to give referrals and split commissions, don't see myself calling people for that. i got hired at a SAAS company selling payment processing that was $15 an hour plus commission 3-400 per sale but no benefits so I turned it down. Might as well go back to T-Mobile for that. Or am I an idiot? Nothing even remotely exciting. I really like construction vehicles and I think that would be something cool to sell , anyone have any experience in the field? I am aiming to find something that I can get excited about, take pride in, and make money while I'm at it. I do like cars too but the dealership life doesn't seem like it's worth it. So I figured construction vehicles might be a good niche, is it worth pursuing? I have about 2 years b2b cold calling experience as an AE with a small marketing agency, I have called, prospected, set up meetings , and closed. (it is a side hustle, start up no benefits hence why I need a primary career) and 5 years of face to face retail sales in Tmobile dealers if anyone has any suggestions it would be cool. Tired of being in car sales...what kind of sales job do you guys recommend? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 02:43 PM PDT I've been in car sales for a little over a year and I know for a fact it's nothing I want to be in for a long time. I'm only 22 yrs old and sell consistent 10-12 cars a month, money's good but just really miss having time off. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
