‘Deal of a decade’: How buying TikTok could transform Microsoft

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 05:30 AM PDT

    https://fortune.com/2020/08/25/tiktok-deal-transform-microsoft/

Adding TikTok would make Microsoft a major player in the digital ad business, which currently has 70% of market share going to Google, Facebook, and Amazon, according to eMarketer.

Among 18 to 24 year-olds, only 17% use Microsoft-owned LinkedIn. For TikTok, that number is more than double at 42%. Only Instagram (82%), Twitter (46%), and Facebook (46%) have a greater reach with young adults.

Around 90% of Microsoft's $1.6 trillion current valuation can be attributed to its enterprise cloud strategy, including Azure and Office 365, according to Wedbush. Acquiring TikTok would help Microsoft diversify its business and find new areas for growth.

    Thanks for the award.

Why I believe Square (SQ) will keep rising

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 08:23 AM PDT

Even though the stock has risen 148% since the beginning of the year and over 137% in the past year, I believe that there is still much more room to grow for this stock.

Right now, the company's main driver is the Cash App which (ironically) is their cashless app that helps customers pay through their phones. With COVID and the strong push for digitization, the demand for Cash App will keep rising. Plus, the company has shown that they are not averse to reinventing and are in good position to take most advantage of the imminent societal transformation.

    Now for some numbers:

    • Last quarter, Square's total net revenue was $1.92 billion which is up 64% year-over-year.
    • Cash App's gross profit grew 167% year over year to $281 million.
    • Achieved gross profits of $597 million which was up 28% year over year

All in all, I am pretty hopeful about the stock reaching $200 by November which is around the time for next quarter earnings and the sky is limit beyond that.

    How's your portfolio doing?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 11:38 AM PDT

I started investing (for the first time, ever) in March. Investing in only US and Canadian markets, I'm currently up 18%. How's everyone's portfolio doing?

I am mostly invested in tech and banks (not that diversified, I know).

Had a thought about the market. What do you think?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 09:55 AM PDT

Hey guys, so I wanted to make this post, I feel with the crazy run we've had the last couple of days with NASDAQ and S&P500 hitting new highs, $AAPL hitting the $2Trillion market cap, $CRM, $NFLX, $AMD, $TSLA making all time highs and much more!

News for a vaccine are getting hotter each day with governments all over the world already having sealed distribution deals with major pharmaceuticals.

It almost seems as if a population we are becoming normalized to the virus. Although we respect it, we also are willing, and wanting to continue with everyday life. Principles for race, equality, fairness and environment wellness are still top of mind, despite virus news constantly being thrown in our face. Seems like we are getting over the whole ordeal.

Elections coming up, job recovery top of mind, more stimulus on the horizon and the seeming rift between the stock market and the real economy are all interesting factors that can affect in either direction the stock market.

Nevertheless, there is one reality that is undeniable. The markets have never been more skewed with technology and pharmaceuticals at the forefront of the whole thing. The top 5 stocks on the S&P500 now account for more than 20% of its value!

In any case, historically strong sectors like energy, Real estate, travel and tourism are still down anywhere from 30% to 70% from their pre-covid levels.

Arguably the most important catalyst the stock market waits for right now is the official approval of a vaccine that is "accepted" by the authorities. Once this happens, for sure airlines and tourism will catch a breather, also energy as demands open back up, and simply pent up demand from being in quarantined.

I guess my though is the following: Assuming an approval is around the corner anywhere from now to the next 6 or 8 months, once that happens what does the market correction look like?

Will it be an overall push higher for the market as a whole? Or will it be a massive redistribution of capital where a lot of what is tied up in tech and stay-at-home stocks goes back to these more traditional asset classes?

    Thoughts of a Psycho Trader….

    BigCommerce ($BIGC) Up 20% Today

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:09 AM PDT

Another day, another steep bull run? Not sure what this company offers that's causing this sort of interest. The news from yesterday regarding the deal inked with Facebook may have been a red herring.

Edit. It's now up 25%. Bringing it to 333% since IPO. 🤣

VMWare- Why is this company valued so low? P/E less than 10

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 12:53 PM PDT

Most software companies trade at a huge P/E ratio, it makes me shy away from companies like Microsoft and Amazon, they just don't seem like good values. But I don't understand why VMWare is so under valued. Wouldn't more people be using solutions like virtual machines now with so many people working from home?

If anyone reading this knows why this company is valued so low, I would really like to know. Is it profit outlook or something? Is there competing technology? I genuinely would like to know.

    My personal stock gem

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 06:18 AM PDT

If you're looking for a solid stock that hasn't failed me past 8 years, consider $CSVI. Outside Covid, it only goes up.

49 consecutive years of increased dividends.

2/1 Stock split when it reached ~$70 last May and wouldn't be shocked if it happened again sometime soon with the continued growth.

Great company that is lesser known. Interested to hear others opinions on it since I rarely see if mentioned.

Do you guys think the market will dip after tomorrow’s Jackson hole meeting?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 09:42 AM PDT

Wondering if I should cash out n buy the dip after. Seems like it'll be mostly on inflation n the market seemed to react positive to those early reports.

    What do you guys think??

Is it too late for TSLA?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 02:14 PM PDT

So I know this is all people probably see on this subreddit, but I feel like this is a step above a noobies post (lol probably not)

So I've been pondering for months, do I buy tesla ? And I've been thinking this every day since it was at $400 at the crash and every day it just gets higher and higher.

Today I went to buy in as abit of a YOLO, but the market just closed and my order didn't go through.

After chatting to my old man (Dad) he believes i'm just chasing after what I have missed out on and really just running into the FOMO trap.

I still want to buy in but I'm not sure to buy in pre-split and look to liquidate some of the position straight away or buy post split with the price potentially being Inflated.

My feeling is that after the split a lot of people will look to liquidate some of there positions to earn some profit after holding for so long, therefore dipping the price abit.

However being tesla who even knows anymore, it just feels like it's going up and will never stop 🚀

But who knows, might just expand my position on NIO at this point - see if it's the new TSLA

I'd be interested to see other peoples feelings and if anyone else is having these thoughts

Why is Li trading higher than Nio?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 02:12 PM PDT

I'm pretty new to all this but in deep with Nio. What I don't get is how Li (a company who hasn't sold any cars yet and has a smaller market cap than Nio) is trading higher?

Any particular reason for this? Am I missing the obvious cos it just doesn't make much sense to me? But as mentioned i'm a novice.

Cloudflare ($NET) or Crowdstrike ($CRWD)? Discussion inside

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 03:41 AM PDT

Cloudflare currently has a 12 billion dollar market cap on revenues of 99.7 million for the latest quarter.

Meanwhile Crowdstrike has a 24.5 billion dollar market cap on revenues of 178 million for the latest quarter.

They have seen similar growth of the stock price (130%) YTD.

Cloudflare seems to me to have bigger potential, better tech and a more dedicated workforce, but have a hard time monetizing it, whereas Crowdstrike has cash reserves, steady income and incredible growth (Something like 89% YOY).

I would like to buy both, but would like more input as to why I should prefer one over the other. I personally don't understand the tech very well, although it seems like Cloudflare is used quite widely.

Cheap Stocks With Greatest Growth/Return Potential

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 01:57 PM PDT

I'm waiting for a dip to sink some good money into a stock (preferably one under $100) that has still a lot of potential for growth to maximize return. Putting that much money into Apple or MSFT won't get me as much of a return at this point, especially within 5 years. I've had my eyes on NET (even though it's stagnated) and JD. Is anyone seeing anything else that isn't a meme stock?

    Thoughts on Dropbox amidst work-from-home?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 01:55 PM PDT

Hi all, im a beginner/new to stocks and was interested what you had to say on Dropbox (DBX) for a longterm buy and hold portfolio.

Theyre currently at $20/share with a 52w high of 24 and I feel that theyre business will greatly increase as companies embrace working from home. I personally have no experience working from home but have used dropbox and was always impressed with their UI and the quality they bring with files of all sizes. Great app as well.

So what do you think? What should I look into/what resources should I be researching to get a better idea of if this is a good pick? I know a lot of larger companies use googledrive and microsoftdrive but cant help but feel dropbox may be a good contender.

Can CN N stock analysis be trusted

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 01:36 PM PDT

Is CNN Money a reputable source for checking EPS, Stock Forecasts etc.. Take NIO for example, it has a sky high forecast of 5x current value in the next 12 months. Can this be accurate? Ive also noticed this with BABA. Maybe its a china thing?

Livongo & Teladoc Health merger: synergies and market position

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 08:25 AM PDT

    Hello fellas,

the merger has brought my attention to the merger between Livongo and Teladoc. Recently I finished a book by Investment legend Peter Lynch , who advises not to go after high growth companies in high growth segments. Why? Fierce competition and continued innovation will decrease margins. So far the theory..

Thats why I wonder if somebody who has done their DD on both stocks and has in-depth knowledge about the digital health sector can explain:

    - The niche / market position of both companies

    - Edge over competitors, possibly also customer-lock in

    - Synergies besides cost savings in employees

    - Future prospects

Don't get me wrong, I believe that digital health is a very promising industry segment and I'd love to hold some shares of a leading company for a couple of years. However, I want to make sure to understand why people think it "will become the Amazon of health".

    Thanks

    SLV - still in it...

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 08:44 AM PDT

    The plan:

Tomorrow Jpow scares everyone with his "inflation is good" speech.

Traders rush into metals; silver sees a swift 15% bounce by market close.

Silver continues legging up overnight, resulting in historic panic buying.

By Friday's open, silver is up another 30%; I bank a monster profit.

    On Saturday, I order a 2021 Porsche GTS4 Targa.

    Blackberry $BB

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 09:54 AM PDT

Blackberry just announced that they are pushing for the Operating software of the XPENG autonomous vehicle in China. They also recently partnered with desay automakers to power more autonomous driving tech. This is all on top of the 175 million vehicles that already use blackberry QNX OS.

Keep in mind unlike most tech companies $BB is trading at around 2.5x revenue which is a bargain IMO.

keep blackberry in your mind for all of the software security and autonomous vehicle work they are doing and will do in the future.

It's also up 7 percent today.

    ARKK calls for TSLA money.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:34 AM PDT

If you're like me, you're feeling TSLA will continue to go up post-split. But, you don't have the dough to buy TSLA calls outright. A backdoor option is an ARKK call at 1/10 the price. I've done this a few times during the run here and it hasn't failed. Now I'm not clearing eighty g's but I am hitting goals.

Peace out CC debt. Thanks Elon and the lovely folks at ARKK.

Edit extra benefit is you don't have to worry about tsla option mess on Monday
