My mother owns a rental property that has a wall which is right on the border of the rental property and this gentleman's property. In error, he thought the wall was on his property and wanted to fix it. He permitted a contractor to park on our property and remove the wall.

My mother only found out because a tenant called to ask what was going on and why the driveway was blocked. My mother arrived and the wall was demolished. The contractor did not have the proper permits to do this (which is the contractor applied for he would've realized who actually owned the wall).

My mother was quite agitated and explained to the neighbor and contractor that they demolished a wall that was not theirs without permits. My mother obtained the proper permits because she obviously wants this fixed but now the neighbor is trying to shake my mother down for $2,200 to cover half the wall but my mother feels that since he destroyed the wall he should have to pay it.

What advice do you guys have? I checked New Jersey's laws(where the property is located) and this doesn't appear to quite be criminal mischief as the gentleman didn't knowingly or maliciously destroy our property. I'm thinking perhaps my mother should advise the neighbor that she'll be seeking remedy in small claims court.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: thanks everyone for the advice

My brother and I (24M/26M) have a pretty rad stepdad who raised us both from babies. How would we start the adoption process to legally get him as our dad? Virginia

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 09:52 AM PDT

I'm not sure this is the best place to ask, but /r/relationships or /r/advice didn't seem like the best places either. My stepdad (48M) has been there since we were born. Our real dad skipped out right after my younger brother was born. We want to show our appreciation for everything he's done by surprising him with adoption papers. What would we have to do/know to get this started?

Connecticut towing company won't release car

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 08:23 AM PDT

I just moved to a new apartment within Connecticut (Windham County) and last night I accidentally parked in front of my neighbor's very small driveway that goes around to where they park. My neighbor called a towing company that towed my car to their lot across town. I understand that up until this point they were perfectly within the bounds of the law.

However, when I called the towing company this morning (a Saturday), they said that while they tow 24/7 they can't release my car until Monday. They will charge storage fees until I can get my car released. I know that this is illegal in some states, but I couldn't find anything specific to Connecticut. Is it legal in Connecticut for a towing service to not release a car when the owner can and will pay?

Landlord’s soon-to-be ex-wife trying time evict my family three months early because she needs a place to live.

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 04:20 AM PDT

I live in Mississippi. My landlord is getting a divorce, and since his wife swears she has no place to live, she is demanding we leave our home. Originally she only demanded we pay her the rent instead of her husband, but now she wants us out.

She is on the deed, along with her husband, but she is not on the lease. Even if she was, she has not gone through any of the proper channels; no written notice, no suit for eviction, etc. - just a bunch of threatening text messages.

My question is whether or not their not-final divorce, or her alleged homelessness, gives her any special rights to the home that I'm not aware of. I want to make sure she can't just show up with the cops one day and put my family out right then and there. I have five kids and no place to go myself (though we are in the process of buying a home due to this crazy situation).

[Washington] Reported my front license plate stolen and then cops came and took the back one as well, leaving my vehicle inoperable.

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 11:05 AM PDT

I got home from work yesterday and noticed the front plate missing, I live in a sketchy area so figured it was best to be safe about the situation and report it stolen. The police arrived and took down my info and then removed my back plate and took that as well, leaving me with a card and case number. At the time he said I would just need to go to the DMV and they would sort it out, but I've called the DMV and they have told me I need the Title. The vehicle is in my brothers name (Lives out of state) and the title is nowhere to be found. With COVID going on and the USPS taking a shit, I figure him mailing me the required documents (with notarized signatures) could take way too long. . What steps do I take to be able to drive my car to work on Monday?

Bought what we were told was a certified French Bulldog. DNA test results show she is actually a Boston Terrior

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 05:23 AM PDT

As the title states we bought what we were told, with paperwork and assertive documents, a French bulldog. After she grew out we noticed her stature is significantly different than that of a frenchie. We decided to get a DNA test and turns out she is actually Boston terrier.

Is there anything we can do to get some or all of money back from facility we purchased her from, and the breeder?

Are there any grounds for small claims court, given the amount of money paid?

Details on the money are that we bought a loan from the storefront which sells puppies, who buy them direct from breeders and resell them. We had a loan through Mariner Finance, which has been paid off on full and the account closed.

Edits: We love our dog and getting rid of her isn't something we're interested in.

    We are in VA, USA.

Edit 2: The dog is AKC registered and she came with paperwork stating such, including the dam and the sire. But lineage going back farther than her direct parents are behind a pay wall from the AKC.

Brother critically injured on the job, I was recently contact by OSHA then a second insurance company. Advice needed. (MA)

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 11:05 AM PDT

Hi all. I really need some advice. Last year, my younger brother (31) was critically injured on the job. He stepped out on some scaffolding that witnesses say crumbled like paper. He fell 30 feet to the concrete below with the scaffolding coming down on top of him. His injuries were catastrophic. He broke his neck, had a traumatic brain injury, traumatic cardiac arrest (he was dead for eight minutes) broke his clavicle, multiple ribs, femur, tib-fib and has multiple lacerations and contusions. He was life-flighted to the nearest level one trauma center. He was in the ICU for three months and had three surgeries. We were told he may never walk, talk or be able to take care of himself again.

He went from the ICU to a long-term rehab. He defied everyone. In eight months he has relearned to walk, talk, do all his own ADL's and every single day is improving. He will be discharged this coming Monday with outpatient care for occupational and physical therapy, some speech language pathology and with his neurosurgeon and PCP. He is not at a medical end result and everyone on his care team is uncertain how far he may actually progress. There is a chance he could go back to his same type of work as much as there is a chance he may not. He will be living with me for a while.

During this time I had brief contact with his bosses who were exceptional. They took care of filing his worker's compensation claim (or however that works) and contacted OSHA to do an investigation. Since his accident last year, he has received checks bi-weekly that seem like a good portion of what he had been making and all of his hospital and rehab bills have been paid to date (over 1 million dollars.) His checks were direct deposited in to his savings account and every cent is there for his discharge.

This is where things get dicey. On Monday, an OSHA investigator contacted me indicating that he had completed his report and was submitting his findings. He wanted to let me know that his report found the scaffolding company (separate from my brothers job) to be completely at fault. The scaffolding was not installed or maintained properly, certifying documents had been falsified and employee safety training documents were also falsified. There were findings of employee alcohol intoxication on the job without reprimand or termination. He said the report was in the mail and in an off-hand way mentioned if I had not gotten an attorney for my brother, I should as soon as possible. The week was crazy with getting my home prepared for my brother being discharged, setting up appointments and I also work a full time job.

On Friday I received a call from a woman who called herself an adjuster for an insurance company that represents the scaffolding company. She said she would like to speak with myself and my brother and discuss settling things quickly so my brother can focus on recovery and we don't need to waste time with the courts. She threw out a number (seven figures) and asked that I call her by Monday next week or the offer is rescinded. She then called again this morning and said she had "wiggle room" to offer a bit more but to please call.

I'm at a loss. I work in excess of 60 hours a week in medicine, I take care of my brother the remaining time and coordinating everything that's been needed to get him home has been exhausting. I thought maybe I should speak with a lawyer but everything on google said their offices are closed on Saturday's.

If he accepts this settlement what happens with his worker's compensation? If the scaffolding company and not his job is at fault, then wouldn't they want their money back? His job has paid for everything and it doesn't sound like they should have. If he's not at a medical end result, how is it determined that he receives x amount of dollars if that makes sense. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

    What should I do?

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 11:51 AM PDT

I'm a senior in college and a couple of months ago I lost my drivers license at a bar near my school. I have recently found out that a girl has been using it to get into said bar. One of my friends bartends there and recognized my ID right away, unfortunately she is not really the confrontational type so she didn't take it away. She did however show me the girl's facebook so I know what she looks like and could possibly recognize her in a group of people. I also spoke to the boss and requested that he please confiscate my ID the next time she tries to use it, he said he would but he didn't really seem too interested or like he cared at all, so I don't really know if I'll have any luck with him. Is there anyway I could handle this without making a scene at a bar or if I do find her and decide to confront her what if she lies/refuses to give it back? I'm really at a loss of what to do and don't really feel comfortable that an underaged girl is using my identity to get into a bar! Thanks in advance!

Also want to add that I have received a new ID since then!

My brother has gotten my husband and I mixed into a bunch of illegal crap. Please read and offer any advice.

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 01:50 PM PDT

This situation is slightly complicated but I hope I explained it enough. Sorry if this is coming off as a rant but If you can offer any advice, I'd appreciate it.

My deceased mother has a two-family home. My brother and his family live in apartment 125 (not real APT #) and I live in apartment 127 with my family. About 2 months ago, The DEA and PD raided MY apartment and put my family (husband, 2 daughters) in cuffs immediately. We asked WTF this was about and all they said was "wait for the detective and he'll explain everything." The officers THOROUGHLY searched us, we had photos taken of us and our SSN recorded. They had a search and seizure warrant for my apartment but, not my brother's apartment.

They made us leave and they messed up my apartment…mattresses flipped, clothes dumped all over, food out of cabinets, etc. They seized my husband's LTC (license to carry) card and ALL of his legal firearms. So, they arrested my brother for crimes related to illegal operations (I believe "conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute class A").

An affidavit that was released the same day detailed that the DEA and PD have been doing a 20-month investigation on my brother. My husband and I had no parts of any illegal operations and weren't even mentioned in that affidavit. The DEA barely even touched his apartment and his wife (even though her name was mentioned in the affidavit) and kids weren't even cuffed which I thought was weird.

Fast forward to now, the DEA and PD are still strongly claiming that my brother ran his drug operation out of MY apartment. They are even going as far as to claim that my husband legally acquired guns to supply to my brother and have threatened to charge my husband. And this is where I am confused, angry, sad, and why I need advice. Wouldn't a 20-month investigation of surveillance, wiretapping, etc. show that my brother doesn't live in my apartment and that we had no parts of this?

My husband has been a legal gun collector for at least 10 years, long before we even lived at that house. We didn't originally get a lawyer because the police and DEA seemed to be "understanding" of a possible mix-up and that my husband should be able to easily appeal to get his firearms back but now it's a different story. How can we clear our name and get my husband's guns back? Will we even be able to? Is this something we can handle on our own? If we get a lawyer, what type (civil, criminal, etc.) should we get?

Just got served court papers from HOA - but they didn’t cash checks we hand delivered to them?

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 01:58 PM PDT

    Hi reddit,

Thought I'd post here bc I'm freaking out a little.

Background - we owed some HOA dues and got on a payment plan through their lawyers. We owed our back payments plus legal fees and have been paying them off (plus the current months HOA dues) and have been delivering them directly to the lawyer's office as they asked.

We haven't had many issues but recently they held on to two checks for 30+ days and didn't cash them. I (stupidly) thought they had and I moved some money around. Of course they tried to cash them shortly after and one bounced. We received a letter from them accusing us of fraud and saying that we had 10 days to give them a certified check. So I go to my bank and get 2 certified checks - one to make up the check that bounced plus fees, the other for the regular payment that just happened to be due for that month. I figured I'd just give them certified checks from now on so it wouldn't be an issue.

Well fast forward to today, I'm literally leaving my house to go get a certified check for what I thought would be our final payment, and I'm served with court documents. In the documents, they do not list the 2 certified checks as money received (which totaled to over $1,400).

So my question is - should I call them and ask what they did with the two checks?? The court papers don't show we ever paid them that money and so the amount they're suing us over is incorrect. I'm trying to get a hold of my bank to see if they can tell me if they were cashed. I just don't see how they can file legal papers with incorrect amounts on them after taking my money???

Can I sue my ex for giving me MRSA? He lied and said it was a spider bite. I have proof.

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 02:44 AM PDT

    My ex gave me MRSA.

While we were still together he had a spot develop on his leg. He told me he went to the doctor and it was a spider bite.

I also started getting "spider bites".

Turns out it was MRSA. I have proof from his OTHER girlfriend at the time. She was with him when he was diagnosed with MRSA, got treatment, got prescriptions, etc.

    It's a whole story...

I paid thousands out of pocket for emergency room and hospital bills. And I have scars. Not to mention the fact that he KNEW what was developing on my body and continued to perpetuate the lie that it was a spider.

    Can I sue for damages?

Is there a statute of limitations? I am in NY state, and this happened in NYC.

My ex wife is lying to my children about me having an affair

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 06:39 AM PDT

Throwaway for obvious reasons. 6 months ago I caught my wife in an affair. We agreed to keep the kids out of this. We did a 50/50 split in time we spent with the kids. But yesterday when they came to my house they started insulting me and saying i was a bad man for cheating on their mom. It turns out that almost that whole time my ex wife had been telling them that I hit and cheated on her. Do I have any legal options in this because it's too late to change their minds. Their moms been brainwashing them for 6 months. And I'm kinda scared she will use that to get full custody.

Reported a broken fire hydrant spewing water across from my street, today the local water authority left a notice saying we spent 38,000 gallons of water

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 03:00 PM PDT

I live in PA. Last week I looked outside the window around 11am and noticed the fire hydrant across the road, on the property of a schoolyard, spewing water out the side. It took me a while to find the right number, but I called the appropriate Water Authority to let them know, whom I gave my cell number to. I also gave them OUR address, as well as the address of the fire hydrant the water was spewing from (the address of the school). After the call, I snapped a pic of the fire hydrant spewing water (might have been a wise decision on our part)

Today my Dad went out to get the mail and noticed a tag on our door from our local water authority. I left the house and returned just 45 min prior, and didn't notice any tag on the door, which means they left it while we were both home, and they didn't actually bother to communicate with the residents of the home before slapping the tag on the door.

The tag said they sent an inspector to investigate our household water usage, which was reportedly up to 38,000 gallons. I don't know how much we normally use (the mom of the house who maintains these records is gone on a retreat so we can't ask her) but this seems quite convenient for them to accuse us of this water usage AFTER we, in good faith, reported a water main break issue.

Idk what to do, are they going to come after us with charges for the fire hydrant that spewed water across the road? I talked to my neighbor, and he was out of water just like us when the hydrant was spewing.

Mortgage docs indicate a longer term than we requested.

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 11:14 AM PDT

Trying to refinance and don't want to add time to the loan so we requested a 20 year loan as opposed to a more come 30 year. When the documents arrived it states a 360 month term and the payments are based on the same. When I questioned the agent he said an underwriter would correct this after we signed and sent back the package.

This doesn't sit right with me and seems fishy but I see no benefit to them if it is a scam. I can just make the payment I was going to make anyway and pay it off early. Can anyone tell me if this sounds legit? I'm in Ohio if that matters.

Need help with a car giveaway with no delivery. (Posting for a friend , replies may be slow)

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 11:24 AM PDT

    Hi Reddit!

So 8 months ago I entered a YouTubers car giveaway and won. A few weeks later I was flown down to Kansas to be a part of the car giveaway video. So that whole video happens. And in the video, the cars are there. You'd think that'd be the end right? No. We never saw those cars again as they were for show for the video. And 8 months later (today) and still no car. Apparently, the sponsor for the video has been ghosting the YouTuber in delivering the cars and the YouTuber has just sued the sponsor for failing to comply.

However, his manager keeps telling me the cars are coming but at this point me nor my family (and also probably the 2 other contestants) have not been updated on the situation or delivered our cars.

How should I proceed with this situation? I am not very knowledgeable about legal stuff. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Artist rights regarding plans for a mural being used by another artist for the client who wouldn't pay my pricing. Slightly a hypothetical situation, but is most likely going to happen.

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 12:06 PM PDT

-Humble Texas/north of Houston- I'm pretty sure I'm clear and golden to take action if this happens but here's the situation; 1. Without pay, without contract, literally only a loose discussion took place to come up with the idea that I would paint a mural (a stylized thematic version of the cities name, like the letters are custom, as is the content within the letters; extremely unique) on a business wall. 2. I offered a quote, to which I was decalred "f#$_ing crazy" for asking the amount I asked. 3. I offered my design on social media for local businesses to purchase at the same price I quoted the original business. 4.i was contacted by the original business and told to take the post down or indicate that they had purchased the mural (they don't want anyone else to have it. 5. I refused as there was no purchase, nor was there a documented attempt to purchase my art and time. This is where I want to be sure of my position 6. The business has a amateur artist on payroll for non art related stuff, he is an employee and just happens to also make art I am certain that this business will attempt to pay him in "exposure" to paint my art on their wall.

Question is; assuming this does happen, can I sue them to paint over the mural? Or for damages as I am known in the area and the public will assume that I did the mural, and I do not want that. I'm open to all suggestions and thoughts on the matter, thank you!

Female coworker is accusing me that I said something inappropriate and after I denied it, my manager told me "she doesn't believe me."

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 11:51 AM PDT

I'm sorry for the lack of flair, I couldn't find one that I thought suited my question. I got hit with a bomb today that a fellow co-worker of mine and her husband approached our boss and said that I had made several comments to her pertaining to her body. I made no such comments and denied everything.

My boss then preceded to tell me that she did not believe me. I asked her what evidence she had to not believe me. She said she had no evidence but that it was just a gut feeling. She made me write a statement on a piece of paper that also said what I was accused of. I wrote that I denied everything. She said that she was going to try and take care of this in house without HR involvement.

Some backstory is that me and a different co worker had a relationship that ended very badly that started outside of our workplace but bled into work. HR got involved but found that we were both equally at fault, but that since it did not effect our work, we both kept our jobs. I left this location for another for several months and my boss asked me if I wanted to come back. After coming back, everything was bliss. We all got along great even me and the co worker I had a relationship with but then this newer co-worker is now accusing me.

I am so shocked and confused. What she is accusing me of is a flat out lie. My manager kept saying "what could she possibly have to gain from" and "why would she make this up?" Also, her saying that she didn't believe me out of a gut feeling made me feel trapped and awful. What do I do? All three of us have a sit down to talk about what happened to get things straightened out. I am panicking and sick to my stomach. I have no idea what's going to happen.

My manager has assured me my job is not on the line, but I have doubts about that. I feel like she is taking her side because she likes her - they are very friendly to each other at work and I don't have that sort of relationship with either of them. I don't know what to do. This is my career. I just bought a house with a new baby on the way.

I also forgot to mention that my manager sent me a text after her shift ended saying "I believe you, don't stress out about this." Why all the sudden is she changing her mind? I am so lost and confused please can anyone give me any sort of advice. Do I need to hire a lawyer?

[California] Sister was burned at work using a machine minors aren't supposed to use, a misunderstanding may lead to the company suing her.

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:22 PM PDT

Hello, this just happened,if any details are needed let me know and any help is much appreciated.

My 16yo sister works at a fast food restaurant

2 days ago from posting my sister got a 2nd degree burn at work while using a hot water dispenser (195° F). When I worked there 6ish months ago we were told that minors couldn't use this machine, however according to my sister she was never told she couldn't use this machine and was told to use it on several occasions by managers, including the GM.

The incident that resulted in her burns:

She had traded doing drive through for dishes with another employee and while using the hot water machine to help remove cooked on food she dropped the container on her foot which resulted in the burns. She had no idea she couldn't use the machine until after the GM was told who then said, "That's why you aren't supposed to use it."

    The current incident:

My sister and I went into her workplace to get some lunch and the shift manager came to the window to talk to her and make sure she was doing okay. Here's the goof on our end, we told the manager that our parents initially freaked out and wanted to go to OSHA, the Labor Board, and whoever would do something about it basically, but we did tell them that we did talk our parents out if it, and told the manager that no legal action was being taken.

My sister just received a call from the GM asking why we were threatening to sue, she said we weren't, and the GM said was telling the owners to contact their lawyer.

    Here's my questions:

    • Can they sue us for this?

Nothing was posted online or talked about outside of the store or my immediate family, so I can't see them going for defamation, and nobody attempted blackmail.

    • Can they retaliate against her in the workplace over this?

Nothing was reported to any agency so does she not have those protections against retaliation?

    • Do we have any legal action we can take now?

I have been unable to determine if a minor isn't legally supposed to use that machine, is there a way to find that out? Seeing as she was told by management to use it, if she really shouldn't be using it I'd like to report it.

Thanks in advance for any help, this came out of left field and is really stressing us out.

Drug Addict Neighbours Break In Again And She’s Not Allowed To Report It To Police

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 03:40 AM PDT

    Edit: we are in Australia

My mum's friend was broken into again on Friday ( the 6th time now ). We know for a fact that it's her neighbours that are doing it ( they're drug addicts ). This time they stole jewellery and her daughter's medication and keys and put some of the previous things they stole back in the house.

My mum's friend can't report it to police anymore as there is apparently "little evidence to convict them". She's taken them to court, she's sued, one of them has been in jail but nothing has come out of it, it's still happening.

Her daughter is currently staying with a friend ( and has been for around four months now ) because she's too scared to stay home since the last break in they left a syringe on her pillow and one of them sat and watched her sleep through her window. The brother is also too scared to stay in the house ( probably worth noting that he's got severe autism ) so he's staying with his dad. So my mum's friend is home by herself.

Today, came home to find them sitting in a car in her driveway, as she pulled in they started yelling "white sl*g" and other things at her. She believes they were planning another break in and were mad that she was home. She's also heard them brag about all the break ins so they aren't even trying to hide the fact that it's them.

She was recommended by a friend to start a petition to get them out of the street ( since they're all in government housing ). Her other neighbours have had problems with them aswell, she said that they've smashed windows with bricks and stolen her kids electronics.

My mum's friend is getting security cameras put in but it's not like it will happen overnight and if she reports it to police, they said that they won't do anything. Is there anything she can do?

High traffic in residential neighborhood due to at home business

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 07:38 AM PDT

    I live in Florida.

I live in a residential community that does not have an HOA. The neighbor across the street runs an at home business. She maintains paint booths for cars. She also has family work in the business.

Every day, even weekends, there are about 5 to 7 cars on our street and her driveway for the business. Her daughter and son come in their vehicles and then a couple of vans show up too (think plumber, painting size). And now, she has gotten a much larger van too - double the size of the other vans. Her business name is clearly marked on each van but not her family's cars. The vans come in and out of the neighborhood. They usually speed and there are kids that live on the path they drive in. The vans come and go during the day depending on their assignments.

Not long ago, one of the vans left to go home for the day, speeding through the street to the exit point of the neighborhood. It was dark and I am guessing because he comes in and out every day, he just thought it was like anytime he left. He wasn't paying attention when he pulled to the stop sign, was looking left to see if it was clear to make a right turn, but because he wasn't looking, he didn't see the little girl on the right on her bike and hit her. He then dragged her down the street a bit before realizing what happened. It was terrible.

I mention what happened because it is obvious they are dangerous and careless.

But the traffic is getting overwhelming. Even with the newer, bigger van. Many times they end up blocking our driveway - in that they are across the street from our driveway, making it harder for us to get out. I feel it is just a matter of time before I back into one even though I try to be careful.

It seems to me if you are running a business out of your house like this, you shouldn't have traffic and vans that should be more at a warehouse. Is there some law/ordinance she is breaking but having all these commercial vehicles at her house in a residential neighborhood?

EDIT: I just found out that bigger van actually belongs to a charity - a food bank. I reached out to the food bank why their van is here every day, not feeding people, but no reply.

Landlord putting trash on my porch

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 05:53 AM PDT

Hey all, I'm looking for a little help. I'm living in a great apartment, but my landlord is starting to harass us. She has sent us probably 8, verging on threatening, emails, put trash on our stairs and told us that, "If we thought the trash on us steps was rude, it was rude. I was feeling mean ". She has locked us out of the basement and threatened us with trespassing if we go to the basement to use the laundry (included in our lease). She wants us to leave big time. She's moving into the apt above us in ten days.
She has repeatedly accused us of disrespecting her and her property.
Her vehemence stems from an incident in which some of her belongings got wet. I made a verbal agreement (big mistake on my part) that I would help her with some garage doors if she reduced the rent. I couldn't do it, so I cleaned out her garage instead and helped her move a bunch of stuff out of another property for her. When my roommate and I moved her stuff out of the garage, a huge rain storm came in a few days later and some of her stuff got wet (we had covered it, but the tarp blew off. This was the tail of the hurricane a couple weeks ago). She blamed this entirely on us instead of taking personal responsibility for her belongings.

So... I just want to know if I have legal grounds to break the lease and move out. I don't want to go to court, and I don't want to involve a lawyer.

    Thank you, T
