Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:58 AM PDT Dividends on net fell $42.5 billion in the second quarter from a year earlier. That was the largest decline since the first quarter of 2009 during the Great Recession, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. For the S&P 500, dividends totaled $119 billion, a sharp drop from the record $127 billion in first quarter. [link] [comments] |
Stocks and earnings spreadsheet tracker Posted: 08 Jul 2020 06:49 AM PDT Hi everyone, I wanted to share my stock tracking file, in the hope it can serve other people as well. it contains portfolio tracker, quick research tool, upcoming earnings tool, R:R ratio check, trading idea check (when you want to run scenarios), trade log and watchlist. Portfolio, Research and watchlist tabs are populated automatically when typing in a symbol (i marked in yellow). Earning will populate automatically with data when a date is inserted (it might be a bit slow since its scraping info from various sources). Trading ideas and R:R are useful when you want to run a play and check the expected profit/loss. Just don't forget to choose if the play is LONG or SHORT. and of course the Trade Log to write it all down. You can find the spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KKOM63IHo1QalaNOdZV1PwDfouAOR-xnkaQZ7g6B8mc/edit?usp=sharing Choose 'File'> 'Make a copy' in order to save it I really hope it can serve you, let me know if you have any comments, questions or any feedback. What's are some growth solar stocks you'd recommend? How do you guys feel about SolarEdge, Enphase, Sunrun? I've done my own research in those however, I'm having a hard time choosing Also, I'm not interested in a solar etf as I think it has too many laggards [link] [comments] |

RSU sell off triggering capital gains ???’s Posted: 08 Jul 2020 08:19 AM PDT Hi. I received 250 company RSU's 4 years ago. It took them 4 years to fully vest. I'm confused since 1/4 of them vested each year, did this vesting period start the clock on possible long term capital gains tax since I've held them these 4 years? Or does the possibility of long term capital gain tax only trigger 1 year after all 250 shares vested which took 4 years? Most everything online says sell rsu's right away after they've vested for diversity, but does this mean sell them each year when 1/4 of the batch vests, or sell them after the 4th year when they're all fully vested. TY for any help. [link] [comments] |
Tough pill to swallow or overly confident stance? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:56 AM PDT Just spoke with a family friend of mine after having some success in the market within the last 3 months. He, who used to be an options trader through the 90s-00s, beat down on everything I perceived to be good market knowledge up to this point. Basically that no human traders exist/are profitable today. Nothing human, all AI. Some of his points: - Candlesticks, charts, support and resistance, all fugazzi (fake) -> and laughed at in financial services industry. -Taxes on profits along with "free" brokerages have you in the ground right from the start. Mentioned "Citadel" which I had no knowledge of prior to our conversation. - Why would anyone giveaway their secrets via books, etc. - And something about #of shares available I guess; he made an example of Robinhood and Hertz. This is not me looking for "prove him wrong" responses, but just curious whether this is reality I am blind to. He is an accredited trader who has had a very successful career in options, who spoke surely of his points which I haven't heard before. I guess I'm looking for good counterarguments. Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:28 AM PDT I've seen articles and opinion pieces that one of the reasons the stockmarket is 'bloated' is because there is no where else for money to be placed. They suggest this is due to growth potential elsewhere being poor due to the prop up measures by central banks around the world making the traditional safe havens in recessions unattractive to investors. Gold has approached its record high this week on the back of uncertainty by investors in markets. Perhaps this is the only place money now sees as the alternative to stocks but what would be the process that would need to take place for the traditional outlets for safe funds to be attractive again? What should we be looking out for? EDIT: so I'm seeing suggestions of the other places money would go, thanks. However, what would need to change for the money to start to flow to them? And how would that start to look? [link] [comments] |
Good Youtube channels/podcasts to follow? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:59 AM PDT Hey everyone, Just wondering what everyone's favorite Youtube channels or podcasts for Stock market news andfundamental/technical analysis, and trade/investment ideas are? Mostly just listen to Mad Money and wouldn't mind expanding a little bit. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 02:49 PM PDT Hi guys, I'm 36 years old 👩, a single mom of 2 kids age 7 and 2 so I've had no time for this kind of game. Now with the help of my parents I have more time and just starting to think about investment, it maybe late for y'all but late still better than never. So I would love to have some resources/ book or website to learn about stock. I started with Robinhood app and would love some advice to start with. My fund is 7k for now. Thank you a lot [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:35 AM PDT Am reading some posts about this company. It has the reason to blow up soon and it's legit since covid is helping its business, but it seems like nobody actually cares yet. What do you think? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:03 AM PDT TL; DR: A decent smaller tech company who had their stock prices crushed when they were sued by Google. They recently won that lawsuit and their stock is rebounding rapidly. I'm already up over 50%. As always, do you own research, form you own opinions. etc. Just sharing what I am already making bank on. [link] [comments] |
Anyone following TIVO who merged with XPER (XPERI), which is now XPER? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:19 PM PDT I bought XPER at the beginning of last week. The price action has been not good. But, the reason I've jumped in this is for the long term because of the merge with TIVO. I personally think the companies working together are going to do well in 5-10 years down the road. Have you been watching XPER as well? What does your research tell you? [link] [comments] |
Margin maintenance on Robinhood Posted: 08 Jul 2020 03:29 PM PDT Why is my margin maintenance line increasing when I am profitable? Started the day right near my margin maintance line.. ended the day up 15% on my account (all using margin). But my margin maintenance line Is significantly higher than it was at open this morning... why would it not stay the same or even go down when I am profitable on the investments. Volatility on my investments did not change so that is not why my maintenance line increased [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Jul 2020 02:49 PM PDT 3 million coronavirus cases in the USA. Market does not seem to be phased by the death count either. Although the death rate is going down, it could possibly bring more people out of the job market, further freezing the economy. With earnings season around the corner this could potentially kill retail stocks. But at the same time, printer goes brrrrrrrr haha. What do you think about these and how it could impact the market? Bid Versus Ask Price Large Divergence Question Posted: 08 Jul 2020 12:02 PM PDT Hope it's ok to ask about a specific stock on this thread. I'm looking at Cubic (CUB) and have been stopped from purchasing shares previously because while the stock itself is valued in the mid to upper 40's, as is the Bid, the Ask price for purchasing it has, when I previously attempted to purchase it, at times been way way higher in the mid-70's. The stock has never achieved that high a valuation at the close of trading, and none of the other stocks I watch or buy ever have such a large divergence between the Bid and the Ask. Does anyone know why this is? It did recently Ask at much closer to the Bid so I should say I've finally purchased the stock, but I still want to know what causes such a wide difference if any one might know. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |

For the love of God, I cannot find this resource... Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:05 AM PDT It is a website that shows pre-covid stock prices and their current prices. It was very nicely laid out and simple to understand. I believe it was pinned here somewhere but I can't find it anymore. Any tips? [link] [comments] |
Selling high to average down share price? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:35 AM PDT Let's say I bought a stock of 20000 shares at 9.30$ and this stock fluctuates between 9.05 and 9.45 is it is it a good idea to sell like half at 9.45 or even higher to lower my average price? And then buying again at lower price? [link] [comments] |
Would You Hold NIO for Long Term? Price Estimates? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:26 AM PDT Hello, With the amazing amount of good news surrounding NIO. I've been bitten with small gains by day trading this stock as most of the time it's already gone up 15%-20% by the time the market opens. I'm considering holding for long-term. I think it will hit $20 in short term and maybe $30 by the end of the year. So, would you hold NIO for Long Term? [link] [comments] |
Stocks cut gains as reopening trade falters Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:28 AM PDT The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded just 13 points higher, or 0.1%, after jumping more than 200 points to start the session. The S&P 500 also gave back most of its initial gains and was up 0.2%. The Nasdaq Composite remained 0.8% higher. Names that would benefit from the economy reopening were under pressure. Delta and American Airlines fell 2% and 1.8%, respectively. United Airlines slid 2.6% after the company warned 36,000 employees about potential job cuts. Southwest dropped more than 1%. Advances in major tech stocks capped the downside move. Microsoft, Apple, and Alphabet were all higher. Amazon shares also gained 0.5%. [link] [comments] |
