Landing Page Tips That Helped Me Do +$600 in Pre-Launch Sales Posted: 04 Jul 2020 04:15 PM PDT Hey guys, I released my pre-launch landing page two weeks ago after a month of developing and testing it across a variety of devices and I just wanted to share some things I've learnt from the process! This will be my first real business, so if you have any feedback to give or recommendations, I would love to hear it!
1. Make sure your landing page is clearUse a landing page structure that's been proven time and time again to work. Creativity is all good, but the thing about art is that it's subjective. You're going for mass-appeal not gold at an art contest. I had to find this out the hard way, I designed an overly complicated landing page which was a nightmare to develop and a horror show to test across thousands of different devices. 2. Experiment (A/B)Starting out, I didn't know what would work/what wouldn't so I made sure I just tested everything and recorded the user response. I picked the best response, created something similar to it, rinse and repeated! It makes sense to be honest, this is how humankind has been testing and improving things for 100's of years so why would it be any different here. 3. Speed it up!Time is everyone's most valuable asset, so if your landing page takes more than 3-4 seconds to load, you can be sure that a great portion of your potential customers will drop off. If your landing page takes too long to load because of fancy JS libraries, high quality videos and uncompressed images. Your viewers will already have liked and commented "LOL" on their friends new Instagram post by the time your website has loaded. 4. Safe And SecureUsers who don't feel safe when viewing your landing page will definitely not enter their credit card information. Seemingly little things like adding a "supported payment options" section near your checkout, can make a big difference in converting a viewer into a customer. Basic but it should be mentioned ;if you don't have a SSL certificate and don't redirect to your https domain, don't expect your users to purchase anything. 5. Gather FeedbackI can't stress enough how important it is to gather feedback from the people that actually matter! Too many people ask their friends would you buy this? How much would you pay for this? This is a terrible way of finding out! Instead ask the people who are on your site, who are interested in what you have to offer, who are willing to put in their credit card details to find out! Something we also tried and have found to be very successful, is asking for feedback after a user cancels his/her checkout. This is the most important step, and therefore it's the most important piece of information we need to acquire; why couldn't we win your business! 6. Test EverythingiPhones alone, there are 24 different ones! It's a blessing and a curse, but nowadays, there are 1000's of devices and models that a user could be trying to access your landing page from. You need to make sure that your landing page is consistent throughout ALL of the devices you can support. I've condensed everything into this infographic (imgur) If you're about to start out, and thinking about creating a landing page, it might help to keep these things in mind; because they worked for us! I understand that it's a way for businesses to mass communicate with consumers. A question I have is that if I were to start up a SMS number, would I able to see messages/pics/videos at all if someone sent them in, similar to a regular text conversation with an actual phone number? If you search by plus when searching all products it will take you to dedicated plus size sellers. My best method has been to search for a S/M/L collection that looks good, go to the retailer's page, and hope they have a seperate section for plus size clothes that match some of the non-plus clothes. This has less than a 5% success rate. It's mind-numbingly tedious. Anyone have a sane person's way of doing this? [link] [comments] |
Buying alot of items from retail Posted: 05 Jul 2020 03:56 AM PDT im living in iraq, for the last 3 years there have been a market that is insanely profitable. it is high end skin care and make up brands. the competitors of mine is getting all of their items from buying it from retail stores such as sephora and Nordstrom in USA and ship it to Iraq and adding insane amount as profit. i want to ask if is it legal to buy a lot of items like 50-100 from stores and ship it to another country. i know people in USA and I'm willing to work with them to deliver me the items i need. note : high end brands doesn't have any disruptors in my region and they are even not interested in the market here since Iraq is considered as 3rd world country. DBA California during Covid help please Posted: 04 Jul 2020 11:27 AM PDT Hi so I'm starting out an online only art business (prints stickers stuff like that) but I just want to keep it as a sole prop bc it's not my full time job more like a light side hustle working from home. I'm talking like at most a profit of 1k a month but only like 3 months out of the year. Srsly light hobby. I do want to make sure I'm doing things right by the book though bc these are tangible products so I'm planning to go do a DBA with the county clerk. However my county Santa Clara has closed due to covid and there is no option to apply for dba in person or online bc it's closed indefinelty per the county clerk site. I'm really distraught at this if it means I can't open up shop indefinitely bc I can't file for a DBA at all. Is there any way to still operate before getting an official DBA? I do have an FEIN already and had it attached to a "dba" but I know that dba is still unofficial. And I do plan to get a seller's permit but can I get the permit under my name instead of the dba? So it's like an umbrella permit under my sole entity instead of waiting for a dba name? Tldr; Can't get a dba filed bc our county clerk is closed indefinitely. Also don't want to wait 10 years for covid to pass and they finally open back up in 10 years...Also wondering if possible to get a CA seller permit under legal name instead of dba so that things can start operating earlier before an official dba is filed? 2 and 5 year outlook for a new moving company. Posted: 04 Jul 2020 10:30 PM PDT Background, I spent 3 years working as a professional mover on a part time/freelance basis. I have also driven large trucks (~26 foot) for a variety of different companies. I've spent many years breaking my back with manual labor and I want to build the ground floor of a company that will provide wealth to the community as well as create financial independence for myself. 1 year plan: Save up enough cash for a well maintained used diesel box truck. (15-20ft) as well as filing fees, insurance, certifications, etc. At this point, I would like to continue working my day job. Optimally, I would be doing long haul moving. So greater than 150 miles. There's typically more money in it and I enjoy the driving. I'd like to set it up so, I have a team of contractors on each end to pack up the house into the truck and unload and I am the person that does the driving in between. 5 year plan: I would own 5 or more trucks, with the trucks being utilized between 70-95% of the time (to account for repairs, maint, etc). I'd also estimate somewhere between 70-200k in revenue per year Is it feasible for me to utilize the load/unloaders as contractors or do I need to make them employees? It would be set up so that they have training they need to complete, so they can provide the service that we offer. When a job comes through and they get a message if they'd like to accept the job or deny the job. Jobs could be few and far between depending on the location. For example, I might be in Portland twice in one week or once in an entire month. Is it possible for me to purchase additional insurance to insulate the company from any potential wrongdoing a contractor might cause (like damage to customer goods, damage to truck, etc) ? Do I need to incorporate in departure states where goods are leaving? For example, I move someone from Washington (Home state) to California and I wanted move someone from California to Washington on the other side of the trip. Do I need to create an LLC in California or any other state for that matter? I would have a DOT and UTI (WA Utility Commission) number. Are taxes charged on both state sides? I sell a product that is pretty popular and until recently only had it in one color (orange). I've gotten feedback that people want it in black, so when I re-stocked it this time I got some black and also some red and blue ones. I posted pictures in a Facebook group where a lot of my customers hang out and... Well today instead of relaxing for the holiday I've been fulfilling orders and chatting with customers on FB. And then I noticed that the way I configured the product bundles (1 for $, 2 for a little less, 3 for even less, etc.) is going to be a huge problem. As I sell the bundles I have to manually adjust the counts, and it was okay until today. My post resulted in every new order that came in over the last few hours being orders just for black ones.... bundled black ones.... so I oversold black ones. Crap. Crap. Crap. I heard from some people that when applying for the seller permit when it asks for estimated start date of collecting tax, I should select a date that is at least 6 weeks in advance of the day I submitted the application. If so does that mean we cannot start selling and charging tax for products earlier than that date that we entered for the permit application? Like if I decide to open up shop earlier? Also is there a recommended date (month or day) that is better to select than another date against the quarterly or annual filing deadline dates? Does the online app need that much processing time? I have other marketing efforts that ARE making a difference but I want to really close the gap on my time to profitability. I have 2 prime zipcodes in my range, about 7000 homes (not businesses) total that make up my target market. 800$ in print/paper. 1500$ to deliver. Average ticket price in my salon is about $40. My math says I need about 70 new clients in the door to pay for just the marketing effort at that average ticket price . That's about 1 in 100 pulling the trigger. I don't think that's asking a lot?
