Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:40 PM PDT I was laid off back in March. First sniff of COVID trouble; they canned us all and sold the company. I kept in friendly contact with my clients, updated my resume/LinkedIn and put in some casual emails to recruiters. It took 4 months, but I was approached and offered a job that pays the same as my previous job and gives me the freedom to move back home. Today was a good day. [link] [comments] |
Feeling burnt out in an SDR role with no prospect of promotion Posted: 04 Jul 2020 05:57 AM PDT Hey y'all I work for a b2b saas company and I've been an SDR for about 1 years and 7 months now, I came from a 360 recruitment role so I've been in sales for about 3 years. I'm feeling really burnt out at my current company. My territory is the smallest for any SDR yet my quota is the second highest since I'm most tenured. Recently I found out I'm making almost 5k less a Q than reps who match my output due to the fact that I have a huge quota and we have a deceleration factor in our commission. I've interviewed 5 times internally for an AE role and doesn't seem that management has any interest in promoting me. I really like my company but if I don't get a change scenery or money soon I'm going to go crazy. I actually took a pay cut to join here and get into saas sales so the money is very unappealing. Is it time to look elsewhere just for my sanity's sake or just test the waters? [link] [comments] |
How you sell a cellular device such as a iPad or an Apple Watch? Posted: 04 Jul 2020 11:33 AM PDT Lets say, a customer walks in to buy a case or get a new phone. You talk with the customer, find out what they do and now you're pitching a product. How would you pitch a Cellular Watch or Tablet? Any tips or advice? [link] [comments] |

Hi there, new guy here — is there a sales roleplay group? Posted: 03 Jul 2020 06:54 PM PDT Hi new friends of r/sales! I'm brand new to sales and have been tasked with roleplaying to improve. I was wondering if there's a roleplay group for salespeople to practice together. I apologize if this is a popular question. [link] [comments] |
NITRILE GLOVES - anyone need? I have access to millions. Posted: 04 Jul 2020 10:02 AM PDT This is probably one of the hottest items in the world right now. I have access to production lines in Asia for FDA 510K gloves at very reasonable FOB prices. Please let me know if you guys have any large buyers and we can work something out? [link] [comments] |
The world of legal cannabis sales reps. Posted: 03 Jul 2020 05:21 PM PDT I'm a sales rep for a legal cannabis company in California and some of the numbers I see people do are insane. The industry standard is a small base pay with commission for every sale. And over the years I have met many people doing astronomical numbers every month, but yet it seems like this is the least talked about part of the industry. Everyone is so focused on retail sales they don't even look at the brands supplying the retailers and the sales rep they hire. It's also a very relationship based industry so the people who have been in the "scene" for a while are the most successful. You spend most of your days driving to dispensaries and meeting with the owners/managers and making sales. However, a lot of it is done over email so I have buyers I haven't seen in person for months. Feel free to chime in or ask me any questions! Curious to see how other sales jobs compare in commission and % of successful reps who can do it full time. The world of cannabis wholesale is insane and someone needs to write an article on it. Are other industry sales reps finding such big success as well? Honestly it seems like a lot of cannabis sales reps are doing better than real estate agents. [link] [comments] |
How can I further my Sales Career? 27 y/o Posted: 03 Jul 2020 10:08 PM PDT Hey guys! I'm a long time lurker on this sub & I know there's some great minds in here. I'm looking for a little advice/ direction. I'm 27 years old & have been in the car business for almost 4 years. (Been in sales altogether since I was 19) Where I work it's a one person process meaning I do everything (sell the car, procure financing, present & sell insurance products & sign all paperwork with the customers etc) I'm one of the top performers at our store. The last 3 years I have consistently made between 95-105k. As some of you may know or have heard though, the car business can be very grueling. I'm looking for any advice or insight on what other career paths I could go down with the amount of sales experience I have but no college degree. Is it even possible for me to get into pharmaceuticals/ SAAS? If so, how should I go about it ? I just feel like I am capped where I am currently guys and to be honest, I don't want to be in the car business my entire life. Any advice at all is welcome & greatly appreciated. Hope y'all have a killer July! [link] [comments] |

Intrepaneur and B2B Sales Advice Posted: 03 Jul 2020 03:07 PM PDT I (31M) currently work at about a 45 person B2B manufacturing company as the Lead Engineer and defacto #2 in the company. I'm also heavily involved in sales but it's new to me. The GM(50ish) is good at his job, but seems to have hit a ceiling in his capabilities. We've grossed about 10M per year for the passed 4 years. But we have the potential for so much more. I've been told I'll be the GM when he leaves. I'm looking for some advice on growing the company from within so as to increase my income rapidly. Particularly on the sales front. Our sales team is quite weak, it lacks structure, and sales targets. We struggle to win recurring revenue stuff and mainly win descrete projects. Any advice or experience would help. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Jul 2020 06:44 PM PDT So I have 5 years experience in education sales. I've done cold calling, inside sales, outside sales, business development, really quite a lot, all with the same education company. I want to change industries. There just really isn't much money in education and I work for a small company of 25 employees so there isn't much room for growth either. I would love to get into tech so I have been applying for a lot of SDR roles at SaaS. Frankly, I think I may be over qualified for SDR since I have experience closing but it's new industry and I'm willing to build my way up. I'm hearing nothing back so I'm thinking maybe people aren't even reviewing my resume. Trying to figure out if there are things I should include or that it's missing. For example I hardly spoke about my experience cold calling since I figured that was self evident. Anyone have any tips or advice here? [link] [comments] |

NetWorking in COVID? Any creative ideas out there? Posted: 03 Jul 2020 05:18 PM PDT Hello Everyone, I am currently working for an EOS (Entreupeneur Operating System) firm, I'm selling business transformation consulting. Our target is business owners/CEO's that arent' seeing the results that they want from their business. We're currently trying out messaging Via LinkedIn combined with Email Messages, being a guest on Entrepreneur Podcasts, Hosting CEO's Peer Golfing Days, Reaching out to my Network, establishing relationships with Referral partners ( Law Firms, Accounting firms) COVID has made any public speaking, tradeshows, conventional networking impossible. Anyone else out there trying to sell relationship-based services? Or have any ideas of places I can go to Network to get in front of CEO's/Founders? [link] [comments] |
Applying for Sales Position Within Company Posted: 03 Jul 2020 04:26 PM PDT Hello everyone, I currently work for a company where I make a decent hourly salary as a regional support specialist. I've been lurking this sub for a while and have been contemplating getting into sales because I feel that it fits my competitive nature. I'm not completely new to sales as I've worked in a retail store before in a position that was performance based but that's been over 5 years. Based off what I've seen from this sub, I'm looking to get into b2b sales but would like to know what would be my best way into it. I'm 5 years into my current company and I've been promoted 3 times with several raises and I make a comfortable salary but I'm bored due to lack of challenge and would like to be paid based off my performance. My company currently has a few sales roles that they are looking to fill. Two entry sales roles, one as an outdoor sales rep for residential consumers and the other as direct sales to business. There is a b2b sales position open as an enterprise account executive, however, there is a requirement of three or more years of b2b sales experience as a proven top sales performer exceeding goals to which I don't qualify. Should I apply for the entry level sales job and essentially, in what I feel, take steps backwards in terms of the 5 years experience I've built within the company? Could I attempt to apply for the account executive position without being in sales for so long? Or should I look into moving into a completely new company all together? I do have a bachelors degree in IT Security but have not pursued that career because I've found that I was not passionate about the field. [link] [comments] |
What’s your opinion of ABC (always be closing)? Posted: 03 Jul 2020 12:29 PM PDT I'm new to sales and my boss seems to have this outlook. We sell a large ticket item to residential customers that many don't understand much of (solar). It's a wonderful addition with some excellent long-term benefits and we have a good product, but it is not a necessity like a car. In my opinion, it's reasonable to educate them, help them understand the benefits it can provide as well as the costs, and see if it is something they would like to move forward with. Of course, overcoming objections when they come, proving value and connecting with the customers are crucial for me to do, but I think they should make the move on their own and not be 'controlled' into the decision. I also think this leads to better, happier customers when expectations are managed and they understand what they are getting into. It's long-term insurance and reputation management for me, the salesman. I'm new to sales but I've bought stuff before and I hate feeling pressure or when people talk too fast to a point I don't understand like using a smokescreen. Also, I watch a lot of videos from YouTube and then a few from Lynda and they always encourage solving a problem and providing a solution. Like Zig Ziglar says, "the world is yours if you can provide people with what they want" (paraphrasing). Maybe I'm getting a little rambly here and being a bit naive but I think laying a good foundation is necessary for a long-term career. TL;DR: I'm just curious to what more experienced people think about ABC. Is it applicable nowadays or is it old fashioned? Does a salesperson always need to close on the first appointment? Any opinions are helpful, thanks. [link] [comments] |
