I was fired. Can I file for an extension for my dental insurance? [PA] Posted: 06 Jul 2020 03:59 AM PDT As the title says, I was fired from my job. Is it possible to file for some kind of extension on specifically my dental insurance? I have a lot of work that I need to get done and simply can not pay for it all out of pocket. I live in Pennsylvania, United States. I was fired on July 3rd. I don't know if the reason for my firing is a factor, but without going into great detail I can tell you that it was over something relatively innocuous. No violence, or theft, or anything like that. Is it possible argue For a total loss? Posted: 05 Jul 2020 11:27 PM PDT Hello, My car (2017 Infiniti Q50 3.0t) was hit while parked, rear wheel and quarter panel area was hit first, the entire driver side panels, front bumper, rear bumper are destroyed. Car got hit so hard, it went from street to sidewalk. The repair shop gave estimate of 13k to repair the car, he mentioned it's about 60% of the car's value. The shop said insurance company will fix it rather than totaling it. The estimate was done on initial visual inspection, not a teardown inspection. Since it's a lease with gap insurance, I prefer to have it totaled than have it fixed. I'm especially worry about the rear axle, since the rear wheel was hit and pointing inwards (this was not on the estimate). The question is that can I ask the insurance company to total this car? and how should I do it? EDIT: This happened in New York. Thanks guys. [link] [comments] |
Denied claim for a Dr appointment I did not go to or make? Posted: 05 Jul 2020 06:10 PM PDT Hello, this is is maryland if it makes any difference. I just logged into MyCigna and noticed a denied claim from a Dr visit on May 12. The claim was denied on June 26. Problem is, I did not go to the Dr on May 12, nor have I EVER gone to this particular Dr. There is no info on the claim except the dr's name (Dr owns the practice) and the alleged date of the visit, and that it was denied and I am solely responsible for the $43 billed amount. There is no explanation for the denial but, as I didn't make or go to this supposed appointment I suspect Cigna somehow knew that and denied the claim. I haven't received a bill but I certainly don't want to pay for it if I do. What should I do? [link] [comments] |
Water damage from the condo above, not sure who's insurance should pay Posted: 05 Jul 2020 07:48 PM PDT The supposed culprit, the thing dripping water Last Monday, new renters of the unit above mine filled the bathtub to wash some crap the previous tenant left. The previous renter was dirty and loud. Water started dripping from between the drain pipe and the hole in the bathtub, into the ceiling of my bathroom. It accumulated and caused water bubbles in the paint until they eventually popped. I contained all the water with buckets and towels, thankfully I was working from home. The damage is essentially half the ceiling and one of the walls. I called the building administrator so they could check out the unit upstairs (at that time it was empty as far as I knew). After checking it out, they brought 2 guys over that ripped out parts of the messed up ceiling and installed a dehumidifier and fans to dry out the place. Now let me outline the 4 parties in this mess. Myself, owner, the owner above, the building administration, and the co-owner syndicate (the guys that collect my condo fees every month). The administrator rep that was on the spot told me to call my insurance. I called my insurance, they told me it has nothing to do with me/them, and I shouldn't be filing a claim with my own insurance, the syndicate's insurance should be covering this due to the nature of the incident. They said it's not my fault, and it's not due to the negligence of the owner above (the seal or pipe failed). So I either have the syndicate take care of it, or file a third-party claim with the syndicate's insurance. I told this to the admin and they seemed a bit confused, asking me to get what the insurance broker told me on paper. Then asking me to bring a plumber to diagnose the incident to be sure it's the joint. Then asked me if I fixed it (less than 2 days after the incident). I think the person I spoke to was a bit slow to understand what was going on. Anyway, I told them I would get in touch with my insurance broker to see if he could write an e-mail. The owner above is very polite but seems to be trying to dodge as much as he can, asking me if I insurance accepted to do the repairs. Obviously he wants nothing to do with this since his unit is totally undamaged. The syndicate representative that came over said it wasn't him (?) that was going to pay for this, but this was before they ripped the ceiling open and figured it was the bathtub drain leaking. Didn't hear anything from him after. For me the matter is clear; it's a defect with the seal or some part of it, that isn't accessible for maintenance by me or the owner above. So it sure isn't me/my insurance paying. I don't think it's the guy above's insurance, because he can't possibly know about it/do anything, and the part of the building where the leak occurred isn't his. So for me, it's the syndicate insurance that should step in, but no one seems to think that (yet). PS: This happened in Canada. PPS: This is the second water damage incident. Last October the dirty tenant blocked his toilet and it leaked into my bathroom. The damage was much smaller (1 feet by 1 feet hole in the ceiling). Not too clear who's insurance paid. Either the owner above or the renter. [link] [comments] |
Someone stopped in front of me suddenly and I rear ended him despite maintaining distance. Posted: 05 Jul 2020 09:37 PM PDT Long story short, I was maintaining approximately two car lengths from the car ahead of me. As I proceeded onto the exit ramp (clear of any traffic ahead), the car infront of me (Subaru) accelerated, and so did I. A split second later, the car, broke immediately and HARD. My acceleration closed in on the two car lengths and did not have enough time brake within the remaining one-car length distance. It turns out, the car infront of the Subaru, stopped all of a sudden, for a woman on the right hand side of high attempting to get help. Why the hell she'd walk into the grassy area to get help is beyond me. The owner that Subaru told me his autonomous braking kicked in and if not for it, he would've rear ended the other person. There was no way I could react as fast or as aggressively as the Subaru braking. Is there anything I can do? I have video evidence I can post. TLDR; I maintained two car-lengths distance. Someone's autonomous braking kicked in quick and hard, resulting in me rear-ending the person. Anything I can do? Edit: Video link in comments State: New Jersey [link] [comments] |
Do I have to list my son on my auto insurance? (Virginia) Posted: 05 Jul 2020 06:35 PM PDT I am getting ready to purchase a used car, under my name. My son is planning on driving the car occasionally before he goes to college in late August, to better master driving (Probably 10-15 times). Once he goes to college, he will be gone until late November, where he will then come back for a month and drive the car occasionally (Probably 5-10 times). When he comes back in June, he will also drive the car occasionally until August (Probably 10-15 times). Does he need to be listed under the insurance policy, or could this qualify as permissive use? If I do not list him on the policy, what would be the potential results/consequences? Edit: He does not live in my household, he lives with his mother nearby. [link] [comments] |
(Louisiana) my car was hit during a police chase... what if the man has no insurance? Posted: 05 Jul 2020 05:34 PM PDT I'm a 17 year old girl and I was on my way to meet up with a few of my friends last night and I noticed a ton of cops behind me and an rv so I pulled into a gas station to get out of the way and the rv came behind me and smacked my car and kept going. I then realized they were chasing him when he whipped out of the parking lot and turned the other way and the cops followed. After the guy was caught they came back to me and got my license and registration and asked for my number and address, took pictures of my car, and told me the insurance company would call me and then told me I was free to go. My whole back windshield is out, brake light is out, and I have a dent. What if the man who hit me does not have insurance? I'm confused and this is my first time dealing with something like this so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. [link] [comments] |
Need some help with my first accident Posted: 05 Jul 2020 07:31 AM PDT Hey y'all, for some context the accident was in the parking structure at my university and I really banged up another car. Like to the point where after exchanging insurance with the owner that the driver side door wouldn't even open. I took full responsibility as was completely at fault. Both of our cars were insured at the time of the accident but I recently got a notice in the mail from their insurance company. What made me to write down this post was the amount of the claim which totaled out to be around $10,000 and caused me to panic. Since this is my first accident I am sort of in a panic over this and just feel immense amounts of regret. I already filled out the paper asking for my insurance company and my policy number but the large amount on the claim is still on my mind. Any advice would help me out on what I should do and what I can do. Edit: I live in the state of Hawai'i [link] [comments] |

I'm a temp employee, what insurance should I sign up for? Posted: 05 Jul 2020 05:29 PM PDT I got an email for health/dental/vision insurance from the temp agency that got me my temp job, but after filing out the application, it said something like "You may be eligible for an Afforable Cares Act plan through the market place. Please review your alternatives before making a decision." In this case should I apply through the Government Medicare website? Can I even apply since I'm a temp? Not sure what to do. I'm new to all of this. I reside in TX, USA [link] [comments] |
Will liberty mutual stamp my already filled out rmv 1 form? (MA) Posted: 05 Jul 2020 01:34 PM PDT Just bought a car from a dealer, got the rmv 1 form filled out from them except for the section for insurance. I know they have electronically stamped forms to download but the dealer is a decent drive so id rather not go back there to have them fill out the form again if I don't need to. Will a local office be able to stamp it or will faxing it to liberty mutual work? [link] [comments] |
Which company to file claim with? (IL) Posted: 05 Jul 2020 05:04 PM PDT My husband's car was hit while legally parked on the street. The person who hit it left a note with their name, phone number, and policy info. Should he file the claim with our insurance company and allow them to subrogate, or should he file with the other person's insurance? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2020 04:55 PM PDT Hello, looking for some help. My wife and I recently came down to Florida from Illinois to help with her grandmother for a few months and brought her 17 year old brother with us. He's currently covered by Illinois state insurance, and we noticed that he's due for a doctor checkup and and dental checkup before starting school again. Is there anyway we can see a doctor/dentist here so we dont have to head back north early? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2020 04:24 PM PDT *CALIFORNIA* My neighbor backed into my parked car, a 2017 Honda Civic. There's noticeable damage to the rear bumper and to the trim of the car. She gave me her business card and kinda suggested she wants to pay out of pocket. I have a deductible of $750 with my insurance company, and I'm pretty sure the damages are at least $1200+. If I get my car fixed out of pocket by my neighbor, will the damages show up on the accident history? If it does, is it appropriate to ask her to cover for the diminished value of my vehicle, as well? [link] [comments] |

Can I cancel or ignore home owners insurance claim durring sale of house? Posted: 05 Jul 2020 02:31 PM PDT I have a fairly high deductible on a home that I am in the process of selling. My realtor told me to contact my insurance agent and have them inspect it prior to sale. They came up with total loss from hail (I have no clue when hail occurred). Since my deductible is about 5k and the repairs to the roof are also around 5k I asked two independent inspectors to look at the roof and give me estimates. They both came back with "your roof is fine, I wouldn't replace it, it passes a builders inspection" so my question is can I cancel, refute or ignore the insurance claim while selling my house? This is in Nebraska USA [link] [comments] |
California’s Low Cost Auto Insurance vs Liberty Mutual Posted: 05 Jul 2020 01:27 PM PDT Hi everyone. I am currently under my parent's Liberty Mutual Auto Insurance plan. However, I will be turning 25 and suppose I have to find my own insurance. I will be a grad student in CA with no income and am wondering if anyone has been with California's Low-Cost Auto Insurance program. If I stick with Liberty Mutual on my own, will I have good rates? I was also looking into Geico. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2020 10:38 AM PDT I have geico. Is there a chance they can waive off the deductible and help me out in this case?? Anyone with experience? Colorado. [link] [comments] |
Can I (Texas) total my car without having been in an accident? Posted: 05 Jul 2020 01:30 PM PDT I drive a 2014 Kia Forte which is paid off and fully insured (comprehensive coverage). I recently paid over a grand for repairs and may be facing another large repair bill (pending mechanic check tomorrow). My brother suggested that you could total your car and be paid the value through insurance, but I haven't had an accident. Is this correct? Seems to good to be true. [link] [comments] |
Was involved in three single-car, solo accidents. Never reported it to the insurance company. Posted: 05 Jul 2020 08:48 AM PDT In 2018, I ran into a pile of snow once, chipped the side of my car against a stone bridge, and then chipped the side of my car against a pole or some metallic surface. All of them were my fault. It was a brand new car and I just got my license. At that time there was a lot going on in my life. I failed a Google software engineering interview after spending 4 months preparing for it. My girlfriend at that time dumped me. I had problems at home. I was almost borderline suicidal. Like every single day, I was thinking of committing suicide back then. Needless to say that neither did I report this to the insurance nor did I get it fixed. It was like one bad decision after the other. I know what I did is bad. Fast forward two years and I now have a job offer in New York so now I am thinking of selling my car, but first I am thinking of getting it fixed. My deductable is around 2000$ and the repair costs 3600$. So the co-pay for three accidents is around 6000$. Now I have 3600$ and I was thinking of getting this fixed out of pocket. Now, my question is, would I get into trouble if I don't report this to my insurance company and just get it fixed using my own money. Also what kind of trouble would I get into now, if I report this to the insurance company, two years later. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2020 08:28 AM PDT I was in an auto accident which I was not at fault by the way. At the time I was working full time and had health insurance through my employer. Fast forward a few months now I'm unemployed and no longer have the insurance. My adjuster sends me an email requesting my insurance information at the time of the accident. I informed him that I no longer work for the company therefore no longer insured. He says he still needs it so I give him all the info he needs. I know there's a reason he needed that information but my question is will the insurance company backdate to the time of the accident and pay for the medical bills? [link] [comments] |
