    Preparing for business analytics

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:58 AM PDT

I'm about to begin a Msc in software design, and I want to specialise in business analytics.

However, I want to have a stronger foundation in political science or economics before I start. Can anyone recommend me some resources that would help me in my professional life of being a business analytic?

The description of the business analytics specialisation is here:

The specialisation in Business Analytics infuses data analytics and computational skills into students with a strong background in fields that emphasise data and data analytics. Upon completing the specialisation, you will on one hand have computational skills in the field of your bachelor degree, while on the other hand possess a field-specific understanding beyond what is available to computer scientists. The specialisation enables you to design database system for analysis of big data and to perform data mining using classification and prediction algorithms as well as clustering and rule association approaches.

The specialisation comprises the following courses:

    • Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (7.5 ECTS)

    • Big Data Management (technical) (7.5 ECTS)

    • Data Mining (7.5 ECTS)

    Business numbers

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:34 AM PDT

    Hey r/business !

I studied business information systems in college, work for a big finance company and yet I don't have any good information on how much businesses make or good case studies.

I would like to learn how much money there is in different markets, how much certain companies make, so to summarize: a practical guide on markets and businesses.

Is there anything good for this? Maybe a book, a website or a YouTube channel?

    Thank you :)

    Is marketing for me?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 09:34 PM PDT

    Hello fellow entrepreneurial spirits,

I am 25 and looking into continuing my education in something that suits my interests more so than my undergraduate major (Pre-Nursing/Health Sciences); Long story short, it turns out the practice of Nursing does not interest me at all anymore, in adulthood. The reason I am reaching out today is that I am leaning towards a business major, but don't exactly know what is right for me. I will admit that I never got very far in college math courses and I know that numbers/financial awareness is super important for a lot of business specialties. But overall, I am very smart and when something interests me, I tend to do better so I believe that if I can just choose the right major this time, I can take on any challenging courses necessary. Hence the preliminary research. Little background, I have worked in customer service/sales for my entire life, I am great with organization, planning, and so on and I have a hunch marketing might be the specialty for me. But I could be wrong and quite literally can't afford to choose the wrong college focus, considering my existent student debt. I tried googling for some books to read that could help me find out more about what marketing/other possible business-related majors entail, etc. but didn't find much. Hoping someone with firsthand knowledge could point me in the right direction/advise me. ANY and all advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

    Happy 4th!

If someone offers products (absolutely popular), a platform (similar to Shopfiy), you only need to handle the traffic business, are you interested?

If someone offers products (absolutely popular), a platform (similar to Shopfiy), you only need to handle the traffic business, are you interested?

You only need to register an account through the website, then you can create a store for you, and there are more than 50W+ SKU products for you to choose to put on the shelves in your store.

And then you take the traffic and you sell it, and you make a profit on the difference.

    Are you interested in that?

Where could I find information of a businesses financial information?

Is there some sort of website or database that will give me hard numbers of operating costs and annual earnings? I'm trying to do some research and was wondering if there was an easier way than just asking the business if they're willing to discuss such things.

I'm starting my own small business as a consultant for busy professionals/entrepreneurs. I'm basically helping people achieve their fitness goals of losing weight. But before getting serious about it, I'd like to find one or two more test clients to really perfect my method. I won't be asking for anything but constructive feedback or recommendations. How is this fair

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 01:54 PM PDT

The following video is about a medical supply business charging a 5% higher price for masks than the normal rate since he bought in bulk before the pandemic worsened like he profited off it by taking a risk and purchasing stock knowing full well that he is going to make a return since he knew the full potential of covid how is this unfair. What is the difference if I go and buy a an apartment complex since prices have fallen. We all try to find out some sort of thing to make money out of covid we should not be penalised for this, what are your thoughts???

Accounts Receivable Questions for a Wholesale Jewelry Business

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 08:10 AM PDT

    Hi all!

I started a jewelry business late 2018 and I am finding myself finding it difficult navigating collecting on the wholesale side of things. I currently do sales through Shopify.

I am looking to better streamline my Receivables so I don't carry large amounts of outstanding invoices.

Currently I have net 30 terms basically across the board and my customers are usually decent at paying within 45.

My question is if I wanted to extend different terms for wholesale customers to incentivize them to pay on time or early (i.e. 2% 10, net 30 terms), what would be the best way to run credit and reference checks?

In doing this what would be my standard A/R process?

    Thanks in Advance!
