Thank you everybody! SDR —> AE Posted: 12 Jun 2020 05:34 AM PDT It's happening! I'm getting promoted to AE. I started last year as an SDR and I wanted to say y'all helped me out so much. My timeline worked out perfectly. Took me a couple of months to get into a good sales role but it's been a great journey and I'm so excited to be here. I'll be launching two new verticals. I'm not too nervous as I helped grow a completely new territory as an SDR. Any good AE tips from you all? Love y'all [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:57 PM PDT I'm about to start sleeve tattoos. Right now I work at a very liberal saas company as an AE l, but do you think it will hurt my career progression in the long run? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:40 PM PDT I have an interview at AWS for an inside sales executive role. It would be some outside sales (although it sounds like warm leads) and mostly existing client growth. I have been in a farmer role for 2 years and done pretty well (managing multimillion dollar accounts) and have managed client success teams prior to this at a much larger, lower touch company. I have never been in a pure hunter role. I have been in tech (SaaS) my whole career but never in cloud computing. What advise do you have? [link] [comments] |
Success Friday - Tell Us What You are Proud of This Week Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:30 PM PDT Did you close a big deal? Set a big meeting? Get your boss to agree to your opinion? Post your wins here, congratulate each other, and go into the weekend on the right note. [link] [comments] |
FEAR OF REJECTION: Logistic sales Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:25 PM PDT Hey everyone, I know some of you do 3PL. I'm newer, and prospecting is very uncomfortable for me. I know I can go to anyone in the office, but it's embarrassing talking about my fear of rejection in person. Idk y I get analysis paralysis before making a call (get info and then tell myself this is a bad person to call on based on info) Should I just shut up and dial more? Or is there another way of helping me frame this whole situation? I do want to be the best I can be, and I know I have something inside me to become the best at my sales craft, but I'm stuck with analysis paralysis. (Analysis paralysis kinda gets me stuck also when it comes to objections, but that's another story) Please, any advice to help gather my calmness while going 'fishing for the money' Thanks [link] [comments] |
Lunch and Learn! COVID Lunches Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:06 PM PDT Hi Sales Folks! I am wondering if anyone has cracked this problem. With my customers basically all working remotely for the forseeable future i need to get back into the swing of things with Holding workshops/ demos / etc... Traditionally i will provide lunch and have working sessions. Has anyone figured out a good way to get Lunch to Remote Workers? Ideally i would just buy everyone UberEats gift cards but company wont let me expense them. I thought about sharing my Login for grub hub, but than i got thinking 10 people all ordering at same time, orders are going to go to the wrong people. I "COULD" just place the order myself for everyone and get there names and addresses, but im envisioning 4 delivery people all calling me at the same time asking for directions all while im doing a presentation. Has this been Solved??? am i making it harder than it needs to be??? I can expense Lunches, i just cant expense Gift Cards. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 08:15 AM PDT Literally no one seems to answer the phone anymore, is texting a prospect you've never spoken to a good idea? or is that the fast track to getting the cold shoulder as well? [link] [comments] |
Enterprise AE Interview at Sovos Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:35 PM PDT Hello everyone, Does anyone have any experience working at Sovos? I had a recruiter reach out to me, and it seems promising. Any information would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:24 PM PDT I am a part of a small ISO. I want to get us a 1099 sales contract with a POS company that pays residual. My main concern is that it is a good product for the customers. Most of our customers are in the salon industry right now, so we don't need anything too technical. Is there any companies that you guys recommend? I'm in Houston, TX btw. [link] [comments] |
When is appropriate to go back to cold walk ins? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:05 PM PDT I own an outsourced contract IT company and one of my best methods for getting new clients is in person cold walk ins which i have not been able to do during COVID. My area in California has mostly opened back up but there are still businesses that are not letting people in or have heavy rules for social distancing or limiting how many can be in the store. For those of you who also do cold walk ins, are you waiting for a certain milestone to go back to selling? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 11:53 AM PDT I work for a SaaS company and I'm working on a 3 year deal and the customer company wants to recognize this purchase as a capital expense vs. an operational expense. Our model is a annual fee which is the same price each year, and we do not do a transfer of license at any point. Is there any specific legal language that is generic enough to help a legal and procurement feel comfortable to categorize this as capex as opposed to opex? [link] [comments] |
how to leverage finance background? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 11:15 AM PDT I work at a mid-sized tech company in Nashville in an Enterprise SDR role. I actually spent a few years in the finance world, and have a few certifications that I've kept up to date (CPA being one of them). Any companies you think I should have on my radar - either now or in the future to leverage this background? (Especially interested in ones that have made the switch to remote-first). Connecting with people above all else Posted: 12 Jun 2020 10:37 AM PDT Author Leah Recor talked about this in an interview I just watched. She talked about her 20+ years of marketing experience, and how she started in college, learning that sales aren't about products, it's about you. If you just try to push a product, people won't be as interested. However, if they know you, and relate to you, they'll be much more comfortable working with you in any and all aspects. How do I stop giving opportunities to current company? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 02:31 AM PDT Im leaving my company as soon as I have confirmed a new job somewhere else. Reason : my current company overloads us with non sales activities (e.g. uploading over 200 products to the website) and Im finding it hard to excel. They even take it that Im idling when Im cold calling for new prospects. Sounds weird but yeah, i found it weird when it happened to me. Thats why my seniors dont cold call - which is hella inefficient if you ask me. They just leave the office for coffee and drag their pipelines for as long as they can. Voiced out, got a letter from HR. HR didnt take me seriously, since my sales figures were low , my entire team's figures are low btw. Took me a year to figure that its not that Im not trying hard enough, its that a day is fixed at 24 hrs and i if im forced not to focus on sales then Im not actually a salesperson. So thats that. I figured I shouldnt open new doors or close new sales since Im leaving. So Im dragging my pipeline, not doing any prospecting, doing non sales activities slowly. What would your strategy to reduce opportunities for the company be like? [link] [comments] |

Thinking about giving up full-time for D2D sales opportunity. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 07:17 AM PDT The title sounds pretty crazy, at least to me whenever I say it over and over in my head. I am a 24M and as of now, I work a full-time job as a Project Estimator. I make 70k before taxes + matched 401k + benefits. Basically the golden handcuffs. I have a friend who is currently running an office in Florida. His group is selling solar panels by D2D sales and they are doing significantly well. One of his closers is projected to do 1.2m in sales this year alone! I had the chance to visit their operation back in May and was highly impressed with the testosterone filled success. Not only are the setters making 70-150k before taxes, but it seems like they have tons of free time on their hands. Do you think it would stupid to quit my full-time job and dive into the deep end as a setter? This D2D job comes with no benefits and is 1099. [link] [comments] |
What other communities/forums do you guys follow? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 03:28 AM PDT Pretty much as title says. Other than r/sales, what other sales-related groups are you guys part of/ worth following? [link] [comments] |
Any advice for 20yo with no experience? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 06:46 AM PDT Hello, I'd like to start working on commission (I'm Italian but also fluent in English). Is there any way to find good roles on Linkedin? Does anyone have experience on contacting local companies asking if you could send mail proposals to foreign companies and get a cut of eventual sales? [link] [comments] |
First sales job with no experience? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 05:00 PM PDT What are some good entry level sales jobs? I have no experience and I'm not hearing back from any employer that I'm applying to. I'm looking to make at least 60k. What industry/jobs will actually hire me and have enough commission where I can pull in 60k? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 07:58 AM PDT Information is of great value nowadays. I appeal to those involved in field sales or video marketing. I have some knowledge for you, but I can't publish it openly. Write to me to DM. I will share only with the first ten. [link] [comments] |
How much equity do SaaS account executives get? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 03:17 AM PDT I found out today that an enterprise account executive at my company (2000 employees public SaaS company) gets 25k of equity per year minimum. As an SDR I get 4 [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on negotiating salary during interview while still employed? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 08:31 PM PDT Private mortgage broker of 3 years. No growth in the industry, and the job has me feeling very unfulfilled. Best year was 108k and will likely not get any higher than that. I'm in the interview process with five different SaaS companies for BDR/SDR roles. I know these roles will be a step back in terms of pay. Question is do i disclose how much i made in 2019 to gain some sort of leverage? What is the best way to approach a salary negotiation when I'm taking a step down in OTE & responsibilities for a position? [link] [comments] |
