Recovering from social media incident Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:06 AM PDT I own a fast food restaurant. recently, we had an issue in our business where an employee said something rude to a customer and it was taken as a personal attack on her occupation. The customer then took her sentiments to the local communities facebook groups. The restaurant is located in a very tight knit neighborhood, so word travels fast. That post had a lot of comments and shares from people in the community and it has had a negative reputation on the business. I did post a detailed reply, apologizing for the incident, and that the employee also wanted to apologize to the customer, and i also messaged the customer directly saying the same thing. We have had comments from customers on both sides of the coin, some saying that it was a misunderstanding as we have always had good service, and some saying they will never come back again. So far we are about 8% down in revenue after the incident. does anyone have any other suggestions on what to do? Or do you think over time, people will start to slowly come back in? Who should help in the formulation and development of internal documents of the company? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 04:02 AM PDT Hello everyone! I have a question that bothers me. After a long search for an answer, I decided to write here. Hope you can help me clarify the issue. The question is about the organizational structure of the company. Or rather – the search and understanding of one specific position. The fact is that the development of internal documents of the company will involve senior employees of different departments. To create the majority of documents, the knowledge of these employees is necessary, however, the direction of professional activity of these employees is such that they are incompetent in the preparation of official documents (artists, for example). I understand that for this there must be a separate employee whose task will be to listen to the professional opinion of the employees, combine it with the requirements for the document and turn it all into a full-fledged document. I came across opinions that these should be handled by secretaries, personal assistants, and so on. However, I understand that this work is not entirely suitable for these employees, in my opinion.I also understand that this employee should not be someone's personal assistant / secretary, since he will be contacted from different departments and should not be loaded with outside work from a specific employee. It seems to me that this should be an employee who is competent in matters of creating, maintaining and storing documents. Tell me, do you have any opinions on this? [link] [comments] |

Staying focused as a small business owner Posted: 25 Jun 2020 02:04 AM PDT A little background: I own a small IT service company (MSP for those in the industry) and I'm a one man shop. I've always had bit of trouble staying focused on getting things done, but its seemed to come to a head now that I'm getting busier. When I say staying focused, I don't mean I have trouble focusing on work instead of other things. My issue is that I constantly have so many ideas and things I want to do work related, that I can't hyper focus on one task until completion. As a result, I'm constantly bouncing between tasks and I feel like my wheels are spinning. If I have an idea of something I want to do, I feel like I have to work on it right then otherwise I'll lose it. Sometimes I wonder if I have some sort of attention disorder. So my question is this: What are other business owners doing to stay on track? How are you prioritizing your work related tasks in order to get things done without spinning your wheels? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:34 PM PDT I received a quote that I can get as much as 8500.00... If I accept this under the 3.75% interest rate, can I get it forgiven since this is less then 10,000?... or is only the potential advance prior to getting the actual loan forgiven? [link] [comments] |
What do you spend way too much time on. Posted: 25 Jun 2020 12:12 AM PDT Hi there, We all now that small business owners have a lot of things that require their attention. I think that before you get started you only imagine the fun things. I just wondered what you find to be especially time consuming. Especially interested in things that are repetitive, that you have to do every day. Or every week. Things that feel like they shouldn't be so time consuming, and yet they are. [link] [comments] |

Acquiring a rather large loan. Need help Posted: 24 Jun 2020 11:14 PM PDT If I have a 740 credit score and 400,000 down can I acquire a 3.5 million dollar loan to buy and start a full sized athletic training facility [link] [comments] |
Any online bank accounts that will let me open a bank account outside of the US? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 09:23 PM PDT I have a US business. It's been fully registered as of a few months ago and I also have a Tax Identification Number from the IRS. I need to open a checking account for it. Nothing fancy; something that's trustworthy, reliable, and with good online banking. Because of COVID and borders being closed in my country, I can't visit any of the major branches in-person. Any suggestions for any banks that will open an account for me? Azlo, Axos, Novo don't work because I don't have a US mailing address [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jun 2020 12:57 PM PDT I have a small team and a product idea which we have started working on. We have collaborated for a long time, we trust each other, and it doesn't work without all of us so we have not incorporated a business yet. We found an investor. He is in South America and is very interested. I can't tell from his history whether I should be worried about a 7 figure investment upfront. It may be too good to be true, but to play devil's advocate he's also very passionate about what we're working on and has a bit of knowledge as a consumer. He's a clearly a big fan of this type of product. How do I insulate myself and our team from anything that could go very south should his wealth not be legitimate? How do I find a lawyer who can advise me through this process? I have never needed to hire a lawyer before, every company I have worked at has a legal counsel to handle business issues. How do I vet a lawyer I find without a reference? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:00 PM PDT Hello, Anyone here own a accounting firm, how many hours per week do you work. Native Mac accounting software besides Quickbooks? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:46 PM PDT I've been using AccountEdge for the past several years and it's been working good overall. However, they will not be updating it anymore since Catalina and I'm looking for a replacement. I while back I remember trying out Quickbooks and not liking it and I can't seem to find any others. They all seem to be web based. I really like native desktop software so hoping to find something. I did find EasyBooks but it seems to be UK based and I'm in Canada. Are there any others out there? How Do You Grow an Instagram Brand? (Specific Steps / Actions) Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:33 PM PDT Hi Guys, I run multiple e-commerce websites and generated about 120k in revenue since march. I do fairly well on Facebook and haven't yet broke through to instagram other than my instagram feed ads through FB ads. How do you go about building a large following through instagram for your business? I have a hard time growing my accounts for my websites, and try to post regular relevant content to the specific audience that appeals to my products. I have a store with pain relief products that posts chiropractic/ health content on instagram, and also have a fitness niche site with my fitness related content on insta. Both have less than 10k followers and are 1 yr old. I haven't done big shoutouts or influencer marketing campaigns with instagram yet, as I saw little success with previous attempts. I know it takes a long time and isn't an overnight thing you can do, other than paying thousands in shoutouts.(even then the audience may not be engaged depending on your content). So i guess what I am asking is, what are some things that have worked for you? And some essential tips to follow which a instagram newcomer may not know about. Are there more effective strategies than buying large shoutouts and spending thousands of hours commenting, etc. ? Any insight is greatly appreciated! If anyone wants to chat about e-commerce stuff my insta is @sam.i . Thanks [link] [comments] |
[Browser Based Video Game] State Sales Tax Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:24 PM PDT Hi Small Business Fellas, Since there is some grey areas involving digital products and what is considered a digital product, I've been having a tough time trying to figure out how to properly charge state sales tax from customers purchasing a subscription to access a browser based video game. Also after extensive research I could not find the answer online. Essentially, I created a game that can be ran from inside your internet browser, where users can go onto the website, create an account, purchase the game (subscription to access to game page itself), and play the game. This leaves a bit confusion from me (the seller) on how to charge sales tax to each of the states, or on an international level (since anyone can really play it). Since the game is subscription based in order to play, and it is not a downloadable product, do I have to charge sales tax? If so, would someone be able to point me in a direction on how to properly charge sales tax on digital goods? Thank you for knowledge reddit. [link] [comments] |

What are my options as a freelancer? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:12 PM PDT I've been 1099 for a little over a year now. My last paycheck was May 30, now i'm stuck with a possible last paycheck but even that is in jeopardy -- really just holding onto a job that Im not getting paid for due to an agreement falling through. I don't want to file for unemployment yet if I can help it. I am independent contractor and want to know if I can get the PPP loan or similar to help me keep my head above water for the next few months while I try to find another job. Otherwise eviction and defaulting on loans is in my future, yay. My plan was to go talk to a financial counselor at my local credit union i'm apart of tomorrow, if they can schedule me in. Any further advice from those who have gone this route or in same situation? I need anything I can get but last time I applied it asked about me registering as an LLC plus i'm not sure what all I have to pay back so I hesitated.. It's not looking good for me. Posted: 24 Jun 2020 09:09 AM PDT Trying to start up my own small business. But to cover my expenses I have to work 14+ hours at my dayjob and have almost no time to focus on my business. Having a partner would help balance out the time issue I think but everyone I talked to basically says " if I'm not able to quit my job and pay my bills with money from the business then I dont want to join in" like they expect me to already be making enough profit for us to quit our jobs. anyway i was wondering if anyone has had luck finding someone who also works fulltime/overtime and they still find time to make and manage a successful business? Starting a Tire Business - Idea Posted: 24 Jun 2020 05:49 PM PDT Hello everyone, I live in Florida. I have several contacts on different tire distributors. I already created a LLC and registered it in the IRS as well as the Florida Department of Revenue. However, the more I dig, the more I find out that selling new tires seems to require a shop. Is this correct? My plan is to sell tires to customers at a better price without installation since I will be selling them online/in-person (no physical store). I would appreciate if you could provide a piece of advise. I researched quite a lot before opening the LLC, but for some reason I just came across the information above. Please help!! Direct deposit if you're self employed? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 05:45 PM PDT Is there any way to set up a direct deposit from my business account to my personal account? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 05:39 PM PDT I've done pens, shirts, calendars, flyers. I know flyers are probably the worst ROI for advertising but I'm looking to expand my brand. I have a beautiful new storefront sign and logo and I believe it's showing in my sales. I've been given offers for billboards and plane banners. Not sure if I'm down with those. I'm instead looking to buy in bulk things overseas. Probably going to invest heavily in clothing and apparel but is this a good investment? Are the other avenues that are better? My industry is heavily based on google searches to find me and word of mouth. Social media is not a good venue as my industry is "boring" or at least not marketable through Facebook/instagram. I still do it but it's obvious that no one uses social media to find my market. Google ads is huge though. [link] [comments] |
SaaS Business Owners — What Kind of Insurance Do You Need? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:39 AM PDT Hi all, I'm spinning up a SaaS platform (we're bootstrapped) and want to know what kind of insurance policies we need to cover our bases. We're incorporating in DE but will be based in NY. I'm assuming general liability and maybe E&O? This is all the wild west to me. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
How to get out of a lease because of Covid - Oakland Posted: 24 Jun 2020 01:16 PM PDT Our shop in Oakland is on the brink and likely going to need to close because of Covid. Our lease does not have a clause for Force Majeur but I'm wondering if there is a need for it in order to claim it. We're losing money daily by not having customers and worries about infection is keeping us from opening up our doors to the public. Any feedback or legal help would be appreciated.
