Posted: 04 May 2020 07:53 AM PDT Me and my girlfriend rushed into moving in together, after 2 weeks of living together we realized it wasn't going to work. She agreed to move out by end of February. Then COVID happened, and now she refuses to leave. I have 1 bedroom in my apartment, and i am tired of sleeping on my couch. Lately she has started denying me entry into my own unit. She uses the deadbolt on the inside and pretends to not hear me. Last night when i came home around 11 pm, i discovered i couldn't get into my apartment as she had dead bolted it. After pounding/calling after an hour She started screaming at me to go away. I ended up calling the police who after talking to her briefly he told me to go find somewhere else to stay for the night and said i needed to leave. I slept all of last night in my car. This morning, after she left for work i removed the deadbolt from my door. I also discovered a complete and utter stranger sleeping in my living room, along with another girl passed out in my bed. After i kicked them out, my ex came home and told me i have no rights to kick out her guests. She called the police and the officer said it was a civil issue (by this time her guests had already left). Tonight i have a late shift again, and i guarantee you the same thing is going to happen. What am i supposed to do? What kind of lawyer do i need? Can someone please help me? I live in Toronto, Ontario. *EDIT* Condo is owned 100% by me, she has never paid anything here. *EDIT 2* To clarify my location is Toronto, Ontario, Canada. *EDIT 3* Contacted LTB who told me she is not considered a tenant, and thus they are unable to assist me with this issue. Posted: 03 May 2020 06:04 PM PDT Hi Reddit! Long-time reader, first-time poster. Hoping for advice on what actions I can take as a paying tenant, if any: I'm a recent grad who rented a commuter bedroom last year to live closer to work. My lease has expired, so I've been going month-to-month. Back in late Feb/early March, my landlord (who is actually renting the place herself) asked me to prepay 3 additional months of rent because she needed the cash to afford her dentures. I had already prepaid a bunch of rent in January, so 3 additional months would cover me through June 2020. Seeing that she needed help and sounded really exasperated, I took money out of my own savings account and willingly prepaid my rent out to June 2020. Unfortunately, a few days after that, shelter-in-place began, I went back to live with my mom, and I haven't lived in the commuter bedroom since. This whole time, my rent was fully paid and I figured it'd be nice to still have access to the room should I need anything. However, when I asked for permission to come pick up personal belongings a month ago (around 4/05), she asked me to "please wait 2 weeks" because I would be "bringing foreign germs into the house". Fair, since we are in a pandemic. So I waited. Turns out, her kids returned from college and fully moved in into my room during this time. I stopped by on Friday to grab my things (medical prescriptions, retainer, etc.), and ended up moving out entirely and (seeing no physical ability or space availability for me to actually live there) forfeiting my keys after seeing my belongings buried under her son's stuff in the room I had been (and still am!) paying for. After moving out, I sent her my notice to vacate (on 5/01), providing a full 30-days' notice and asked for my June rent back, in addition to my security deposit. I actually felt it was generous not to ask for March, April, and May back too - given that her kids had fully moved into the room without my knowing. She has completely ignored me. I live in the Bay Area and work at a nonprofit, so rent is not cheap. It feels especially egregious that her kids have moved in while I continued to pay for the room and be told when I "can" or "cannot" enter the premises. Reddit, is there any recourse for this situation? I looked up California renter's rights, and understand that I have rights to my security deposit back. How can I get this back now that she's gone dark on me? And what about rent that I prepaid as her kids quietly moved in and I was told not to enter the house? At the very least, I think getting June back is reasonable, as June would be after my 30 days' notice. Thanks a ton in advance! -- tl;dr - Landlord's kids moved into my room during quarantine; I've prepaid rent through June 2020. We're month-to-month, so I could've cancelled anytime. How can I get my future month's prepaid rent back (would be after my 30 days' notice) and my security deposit? With her kid already moved in, would it be fair to request my current prepaid rent back too? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
House got robbed, found stolen items for sale. How do I get my stuff back? Posted: 04 May 2020 06:26 AM PDT I'll make this short and sweet: Yesterday I came home and found my front door open. Two expensive laptops (one with all my school work on it) were taken, amongst other stuff like headphones totalling up to around $5000. I went on kijiji (a website to sell stuff, similar to craigslist in Canada) and found that someone posted my exact items for sale. I ended up messaging the guy and got his address, phone number and first name. Turns out he lives a couple minutes away. I immediately contacted the police with this info but I've heard that sometimes arranging to meet up or confront the person is more effective but ultimately more dangerous. I feel sick to my stomach. I just moved into this place a couple days ago and I will be financially ruined if I have to replace these items. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 05:17 AM PDT I'm active on twitter, but I don't use my real name/picture, and my content is almost entirely social justice related. Somehow, I got doxxed. And to my disgust, they are using my FULL name, picture taken off of google images, and replying racist things to non-white people. If any of these tweets go viral, my reputation will forever be ruined. If I report it to the police, what can they do? I had my followers report them multiple times, but twitter still has not suspended them. I'm freaking out. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 09:07 AM PDT I interviewed for a new position on March 5, 2020 and was sent an offer letter for 67k salary the same day. I accepted the offer and gave 3 weeks notice to my last job. I was supposed to start on April 7th, 2020. On March 18, which was 3 days before my last day at my old job, my boss asked me if I was sure I wanted to quit due to coronavirus and things closing. I confirmed over the phone with my new job that despite covid-19 they were just going to delay my start date by 2 weeks but I definitely still had the position. Fast forward to the end of April, The new job calls me and says that they have to rescind the offer. I submitted a letter of resignation to my last job so I my unemployment claim was denied. Do I have any recourse? I quit my job in the middle of a pandemic because they assured me that i was still starting? Location: maryland [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 05:13 AM PDT A couple of years ago, I air-bnb'd my apartment to a stranger. Not realizing I'd left some old filing system in the back of a cupboard. (I'm an idiot I know!) They found it, went through it and took with them my drivers licence details and date of birth etc. Over the passed 2 years they have used my details to open phone accounts, various bank accounts and online shopping accounts in my name. But this week, with some Australians requesting early access to their super due to corona issues, this person has decided to up it a level and request to access mine. I had temporary access to my tax details before the Freud Department closed it down for me, and I could see they had changed a lot of my details to theirs. An email address now there was the same fake email address they've used in previous attempts to steal my identity, so I know it's the same person. Up to this point the senior detective who has all these details has told me there's nothing I can do. Surely with this latest attempt I could do something? Can I sue? (They also stole from my apartment, cooked meth in it and trashed some things. But it's hard for me to prove as I was in shock when I cleaned it up. I find it so odd the police are letting them get away with it all tho). [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 10:16 AM PDT My father has Parkinson's and dementia, and has a neighbor who constantly harassed him when he is working outside. This man disputes the property line, yells off his deck at my father and takes pictures of him doing yard work on his own property. We have called the police after this man made a veiled threat to my father. I called HOA so they were aware. It was not as bad in the winter but yesterday the man started yelling at my father again, even asking my dad "why do you walk so slowly?" My father doesn't want to work outside because he is so tired of getting harassed. Is there anything we can do? We have looked at getting a restraining order but not sure verbal abuse and privacy violation will get us there. We are in Colorado, if that matters. Tdlr: at risk father with dementia is being harassed by neighbor who is on the HOA board. Neighbor is also taking pictures of him with out permission, behavior been going for two years. My employer no longer gives me time to complete my job duties. Posted: 04 May 2020 08:24 AM PDT Hi all, About 7 months ago I was hired on a job as a Warehouse Clerk. My main job duties were to maintain a clean work space, conduct cycle counts, order items, create POs and requisitions and aid other departments. Over time however my job began to devolve. My supervisor gave me assignments assigned to him and expected me to do them. Furthermore, my job site has a dedicated estimator. But my Operations manager told me, "you get paid too much." So he assigned me half of the estimators job duties. This is inputting data, attaching files and sending them to the customer. I had no experience as an estimator. Then problems began to arise, my input and estimations were incorrect. (What did they expect?) I began running really short on time. And I currently am unable to complete any of my job duties. During a recent meeting I brought this up to the warehouse/operations manager. He questioned why we keep running out of materials and I promptly informed him that due to the workload I was unable to complete my job duties. The creation, input and sending of the estimations can be lengthy and the assignment given to me by my immediate supervisor resulted in inadequate time for me. His response? "Well, make some time." This infuriated me, but I did not make it apparent. I bit my tongue and the meeting ended. Currently, I am sitting in my desk with a stack of estimations, low stock in my shop, and a handful of assignments my supervisor sent to me. (They were assigned to him.) What should I do? What can I do? Can I get HR involved? I'm getting in trouble for not getting my job done and I'm expected to have the same speed and accuracy as my (ESTIMATOR) co worker with 20+ years of experience. Every day something new is added to my work load and the stress in unbearable. I've begun searching for a new job. It's a shame cause I really enjoyed my job in the beginning. Now I'm just an errand boy that isn't given enough time to do his job and I'm seconds away from just walking out. This, in my opinion, is extremely unfair. We have guys hired for specific job duties, like the estimator, but I'm given estimator duties with NO COMPENSATION. Please help, it's a decent paying job for me. (22M) but it's becoming unbearable.. Edit; I get 15/hr and I'm still attending college. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 11:37 AM PDT My roommate and I [Los Angeles, CA] reported Bedbugs in our apartment in October (2 months after moving in). This was a couple weeks after we first saw signs, but had no idea what we were dealing with until October. Anyway the past 9 months have been a mixture of our Landlord telling us the problem is not a big deal, or offering half assed solutions (some even probably made the problem worse) All he cares about doing is getting mad at my roommate and I for bringing them here. This cannot be proven and I firmly believe they were here long before we moved in. Either way, any time I try to bring up the fact that these bugs are likely in other units, he becomes highly aggressive and refuses to allow for professional inspection of neighboring units. Almost scoffed at the idea they could be anywhere but our apartment. What options do I have? I've done all of the self treatment I can, but if neighboring units aren't treated, I'm basically wasting my time and money. (Which he has made us responsible for paying every penny) I considered filing a complaint with the city, but I know he would retaliate in some way and I cannot afford to lose my security deposit over this. I would love some guidance so I can finally sleep in peace... [link] [comments] |
My Girlfriend and I won $5000 in a sweepstakes, what tax forms do i need to file? OREGON Posted: 04 May 2020 08:06 AM PDT We won a grocery store sweepstakes recently for $5000. Our check is here, but we are totally unsure of what taxes to pay on it. We have a 1099-MISC for the federal tax, but no where can I find what form I need to file with the Oregon Department of Revenue. I've tried calling, to no avail, (COVID Staffing) I've searched the web and the Oregon Tax Portal.. I've even asked the grocery store, to which I was told "not a clue, taxes are your responsibility" We'd rather pay upfront than wait til next year's tax filing, we know its 25% federal and 8% state, but can't find out how to give them their money! Thanks for the help! [link] [comments] |
Intellectual property infringement of my images by russian singer/band Posted: 04 May 2020 11:25 AM PDT Hello there! I am a photographer, I am based in Italy and in 2012 I have created a still life (photography of items) project that has been widely shared and seen around the world. The project didn't make me rich but it's been quite successful nonetheless and it's something quite recognisable that resonated with lots of people for its message of love and oneness. Fast forward to this morning, I find a russian singer/band who has featured, in his 2018 album, images blatantly copied and inspired from my original project. (a group image is used as the album cover, and single images are coupled with each album's soundtrack). Please note I am not making the thing bigger than it is: as the project was copied before, I had to file different lawsuits respectively on italian and british ground (both went in my favour), so I know what to look for when claiming copyright infringement. Does anyone know how the procedure is in Russia to warn the singer and claim the infringement? A sort of Cease and Desist letter maybe? I have already emailed him/his staff and haven't got a reply, this is why I wanna proceed with further action. Thanks [link] [comments] |
I was sexually assaulted by my boss Posted: 04 May 2020 10:51 AM PDT I started a job with a major cellphone provider in October and started working under my boss in December. In Feb, I was secually assaulted by him. The next day he fired me. They said that I quit a month prior in my separation paperwork, but that is a boldfaced lie. I have proof that he was at my house on the night in question. I had to call the police to kick him out as he was threatening to kill me and he physically hit me while my child slept in the next room. First Question: Can I sue the company for sexual harassment? I made several complaints that went unheard and it isn't really about the money. What was done to me is wrong and this man should not be in a position to do that to someone else. Second Question: I was assaulted that night as well, and I am now pregnant. I want to put the baby up for adoption because I didn't have a choice in its conception. He is telling me that he will not sign papers and I need to find my child's real father. What are my legal options here? I hadn't had sex in 2 years so there is no doubt of the paternity. TLDR; my boss assaulted me and is refusing to sign adoption papers for the resulting pregnancy. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 11:11 AM PDT Hello I'll try to make this as simple as I can. My family and I rented a house from my landlord starting March 2018, for one year with a $1000 security deposit. After our first lease ended we did another one for 14 months, which would have been May 2020. We ended up buying and closing on a house in February and my landlord agreed to waive April and Mays payment if we paid for March's, which we did. In the lease, it says she has 30 days to provide us a written list of damages and return the balance of our security deposit. She claims that because we ended the lease early she doesn't need to return our deposit, on top of this she is claiming some damages. A piece of tape on the storm door (which I'm quite sure was there to begin with), a broken toilet seat, some calcium build up on sink faucets that SHE took off, some dirt on a wall, and some cracks on a kitchen floor tile. After doing a quick read through of Pennsylvania tenant rights, it seems like all of these would be considered normal wear and tear, besides the toilet seat. The issue becomes in the lease, it says a written agreement must happen for the lease to end prematurely. Would these text messages between myself and the landlord be adequate as written permission? And can she really sue for these damages? On top of this, it very clearly says she has 30 days to put together a list of damages and send them to me, which she has not. She claims to not even have a price on any of the damages yet. To me it seems she just doesn't want to return the deposit, it doesn't seem like the amount of damages she's claiming warrants getting an attorney over. Is she bluffing? Not sure if it matters but while the property is in Pennsylvania she lives in Ohio currently. [link] [comments] |
Can an employer demand to be repaid money given to employees that was provided by PPP? Posted: 04 May 2020 08:11 AM PDT I am not a salaried employee. I work on straight commission in Wisconsin. My employer just informed me that I will be receiving two large additional "draw-against-future-commission" payments because he must spend the PPP funds that he was given. He fully expects me to pay those excess funds back to him. I am certain that he used last year's average monthly commission earnings as a "salary" figure for the purposes of his PPP application. Am I obligated to pay this money back to him? If he is giving me extra money because he is required to so the loan is forgiven, doesn't that mean he is essentially double-dipping? He got money from the government for free, is giving it to me for the next two months, and he has made it clear that he wants it back from me. My sales are down a bit, but not drastically due to COVID-19. It seems like he is forcing me to take money now so he can get it free from the government and then get it back from me from future earnings. [link] [comments] |
Underage Girl send nudes, I stopped talking now father is threatening legal action Posted: 04 May 2020 01:27 PM PDT I'm 22M, I matched with this girl on hinge and a red flag should've popped up cause her pics looked grainy and old and one looked like an entirely different girl but I went with it. Her profile said she was 20, things went well so I asked for her SC, but she said she used to have one so we started texting. I got curious and I looked at SC after I got her number and it was a dude's bitmoji, I figured she had been messing around and didn't think much of it. In the end, we were texting and I asked for her to send me a pic, I asked for underwear but she sent a nude, but I didn't think it was a problem cause I thought she was of age. That all happened yesterday afternoon and now her dad just called me saying he wants to pursue legal action unless I help pay for a physical altercation that happened between his wife and his daughter because of me. I'm pretty sure there was never a daughter in the first place and he was pretending to be the girl and sent me random pics of a girl he found somewhere and he's just trying to extort me for money but I'm not too sure. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 09:21 AM PDT I've called in my AC three times now because it's been intermittent. They never fixed it because it always started working eventually. Now it is broken for good. I called to get it fixed but no one is in the front office. I called the emergency line and they said it isn't an emergency unless it's 80 degrees outside, which it is 70. During the day it isn't too bad but at night for some reason the temperature in my apartment is stuck in the 80s. No windows or fans fix this. What makes it worse is that I have allergy induced asthma so it's flaring up due to all the windows I have opened, so all I need now is to catch Covid. I can't access the maintenance room to my apartment because it's behind a locked door. Anyone know anything else I can try to get my landlord to at least set up an appointment to get it fixed? My lease does not mention the 80 degrees thing but apparently it is in their records. [link] [comments] |
Verizon just straight up took 500.00 Posted: 04 May 2020 10:41 AM PDT I'm wondering what our legal options (if any) are. I'll try to be as concise as possible: wife had a verizon account with some extra service that she paid an additional 70.00 / month for. When we cancelled her account and moved to a joint one with me at Sprint, Verizon continued to charge this 70.00 fee. Around October she called to have it cancelled. They said that it was, however they continued to charge 70.00 per month. It's been a bit of a crazy couple of months so we didn't notice right away, but we finally realized we were still being charged. She called to have it stopped again, they again said that they have (we're hoping they actually did this time) but she tried to get a refund for the charges for the last few months. They have a record of her calling to stop the charges, they have a record that someone was supposed to stop it, but that it was never stopped for whatever reason. They said they cannot refund because they don't refund to credit cards. So basically they just straight up took 70 bucks a month adding up to around 500.00 dollars for a service we didn't receive, and won't refund it because of "policy". I don't even understand how this could be legal. But 500 bucks is not a small amount of money. Is there any legal standing to get it back? I almost wish it was more money because then it'd justify going to court over. I don't want to just eat this 500, especially now. But if we have to I guess we will. We are located in CA. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 03:51 AM PDT I work for a large defense firm and have been there more than two decades. Last year I submitted paperwork citing some medical conditions and requesting to telecommute (my job can be done 100% virtual). I was denied and told I had to put in for medical accommodations reviewed by third parties. A few months later, I was then given the worst review of my career and told that I was being put on a kind of probation where I must accomplish a number of tasks above and beyond my current tasking. Then COVID hit and everyone is telecommuting, the probation thing seemed forgotten. As the states start to open up again and the business begins to talk about phasing back to on-site work, I submitted a request letting them know I am in a high risk group for COVID because I was afraid I would be required to come on-site. Three days later I was told I am being put on a performance improvement plan where I must do additional tasks over 90 days. If I cannot successfully perform the additional tasking to their satisfaction within 90 days I am to be terminated. The additional tasking is designed for failure. These things would easily take more than 90 days full time and I am expected to do them on top of my existing work (and excel in that existing work). It sure feels like medical discrimination to me. I'm wondering if I have a case? Or what I would need to help support the case? [link] [comments] |
Can my landlord kick me out for seeing my girlfriend and breaking social distancing? Posted: 04 May 2020 01:04 PM PDT I live in Oregon. I rent a room in a house of 10 people, including the landlord and 9 or so room renters. Once COVID-19 hit, my landlord got paranoid and started tracking where people were going out of fear they'd catch the virus. Of course, we are all taking precautions, but we still see family or significant others. Last month my landlord told me that I have a choice to either stop meeting up with my girlfriend (and break the 6 feet rule) or get kicked out. Specifically, he told me to not ride in a car with her, go in her house, or be within 6 feet of her. I agreed to it, but I am still seeing my girlfriend secretly. Understandably, this is extremely annoying and feels unjust. He still sees his family and breaks the 6 feet rule. Is this legal? Can he threaten to kick me out for seeing my girlfriend? Posted: 04 May 2020 01:01 PM PDT This is about a dispute with my landlords. I'm a grocery store worker. I'm considered "essential" and continue working during the pandemic. We were clearly told that we would be fired and not rehired if we didn't so I don't have a choice, I need the money anyway. I rent a room in the landlord's house. I always paid rent on time, keep my place clean, there has never been an issue with me. The landlords are a man and his wife, they're in their 60s. They're very afraid of the Coronavirus, to the point where they're acting irrationally. They say that they have a problem with me going to work and living in their house. The room I rent in on the side of the house and "indenpendent" from it. I access it from the outside and I don't have to enter the house. From the start of the pandemic the landlords insisted several times that I should stop working, I had to tell them repeatedly that it wasn't possible. Then one day they decided to seal my windows with tape so "the contamination doesn't fly from my room to the outside". They also disabled the AC for that reason. I don't like that but I didn't want to antagonize so I didn't protest too much at the time. Three days ago I found a notice on my door from my landlords saying that they demand I take some measures to avoid contaminating them. They want me to: strip in my car/behind the hedge to avoid bringing "dirty" clothes in, then sanitize myself completely before I enter my room (not just wash hands, disinfect the whole body, with bleach if that's all I have), and sanitize everything I bring back from work with bleach. I was to accept the conditions by the next day or leave. I'm all for safety but this is ridiculous. I'm aware of the risks and I'm very careful not to touch anything before I shower when I come back from work, and of course I wash and sanitize my hands all the time and wear a mask. I'd be willing to strip before I enter my room if needed but not in the driveway where everybody can see me. They haven't told me how I'm supposed to wash myself outside. And I think I should be able to open the windows. My room isn't connected in any direct way to their house, there's no door between their place and mine. My windows are the only ones on this side of the house. I replied on the notice that I didn't accept the conditions (but would do my best to act as safely as possible) and I can't leave now and put it on their door when I went to work. When I came back from work yesterday they had changed the lock on my door. All my stuff is inside. They called me on my phone when they saw me in the driveway and said they would let me get my things back after the pandemic but in the meantime they don't want me on their property. I spent the night in my car because I had nowhere else to go. I think they don't have the right to do this but with the pandemic situation I'm not sure anymore. Also I'd like to know if I can be trespassed for going back to get my stuff. Ideally I'd like to go back to my own place but I might be able to sleep in a friend's basement for some time if necessary, but I need my things back. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2020 01:00 PM PDT Hello everyone and thank you for your help! I am located in Florida and my employment was At-Will. The company I have been working for for a handful of months granted all employees the choice to take 30 days time off with no pay during Florida's lockdown for Covid-19 despite the business staying open during Lockdown, with the promise that we would have a position upon returning to work. I chose to take the time off, and upon returning to work my position was filled and I was fired same day for "poor performance" despite not having been talked to or having any poor performance reviews in the past. I believe that I may have been fired either in retaliation for taking the time off, or because they had filled my position while I was gone, either way I feel that this violates the contract we agreed to when I chose to take the 30-Day leave. Is there a possibility that their actions were illegal? [link] [comments] |
Bipolar brother wants to sue us Posted: 04 May 2020 01:55 PM PDT I (26f) live with my parents along with my bipolar brother(30+) in Los Angeles, CA. There are constant arguments in the house, mostly stemming from my brother not taking responsibilities, and wanting to run the house his way. For example, the argument today that caused this post is that he ripped apart bed sheets that my mom bought for his bed. We both pay rent to our parents and with the latest argument he's threatening to go make a report that we're all verbally abusing him so he can start his case. He's stating that because he's bipolar he can't legally be treated like this and that he's being verbally abused. Whenever I do text him (I don't talk to him for personal reasons) I always state that I want him to stop being selfish and to think about our mom and her health. My parents mostly just tell him to stop but I'm not sure if anything we're saying is considered verbal abuse. What constitutes verbal abuse in the legal sense? Does he have a case he can pursue? If he sues us what should I be doing to help my parents (they only speak Spanish, so I help them in as much as I can)? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 May 2020 06:29 PM PDT All identifiable information has been censored I am from ontario Canada, The youtuber in question is based in Ukraine a popular YouTuber stole a video I made to use for his own channel. I was notified about it by a friend and sent a copyright strike against him. Originally after the strike we exchanged emails regarding the situation. He asked me to take the strike down but I said no because he was making money off it. It then escalated when he made a community post with a screenshot showing my channel name saying that I was to blame for the lack of videos from him. He also falsely stated that he did credit me before and promoted me which he did not. Since that post I have received death threats, rape threats, and swatting threats. Content warning for people looking at the screenshots It escalated when police got involved. I had to tell them not to come to my place if they got a swatting call. Some posts promoting my harassment were even hearted by by the youtuber himself I tried contacting youtube through their help email and twitter support page but all they've done to "help" is tell me to report all the infringing comments which I have and send a report to the police. Police said nothing could be done because the user is from another country and that this is YouTube's responsibility. Youtube also said that they'd look into it but nothing has happened in 5 months and I continue to receive threats since his post is still up At this point I don't know what to do and I'm just looking for help. Posted: 04 May 2020 01:35 PM PDT So basically the title. I keep getting voicemails from some guy about how my case has been sitting on their desk, other ones mention a lawsuit, some say I've now officially been served, etc. They don't give me the name of the company they work for, just their name. I've googled it and nothing came up, no law firm or anything. So I blocked the number and ignored further voicemails, assuming it was likely a debt collector or something. Now they're calling my wife and my mother (both whom I live with) trying to reach me too. I have NEVER received or been served with anything in the mail. I have some old credit card debt, but that's about it, so besides that I have no clue who would even be suing me, or why, if they were. Not sure if I should be worried about this or just treat it like a scam or a random debt collector? Again I've received no notice in the mail or in person about this 'lawsuit.' They mention my name and a case number, on my wife/mother's voicemail. They don't say who they are, who they work for, etc. [link] [comments] |
