Does anyone else face fear and delay or freezing when presented with opportunity? Posted: 03 May 2020 04:33 AM PDT Hey guys, I just had a great potential client eagerly message me, and it scares me to read or open the message. I can't pinpoint the reason why - be it fear of rejection by saying the wrong thing and ruining it or just fear - but I was wondering if many others feel the same when doing so? I think it may be a case of analysis paralysis? [link] [comments] |
If you want feedback from successful people, design your post well Posted: 03 May 2020 10:42 AM PDT Think about it. Successful people may not have a lot of time, nor be willing to spend a lot of time helping someone out by reading a super long post. Keep it short, to the point, leave questions that can be simply answered. Long, drawn-out questions that ramble make people lose interest. I've run a business doing eight figures a year, love giving advice, but my eyes glaze over when I see walls of text that are irrelevant. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 May 2020 07:56 AM PDT This is a question for the pros, or just anyone who feels like they have a good head for negotiation. I've lined up my first job today over email, and I'm scheduled to head over in a few hours. In the emails we never discussed pricing. I have an idea of 30$/hour in my mind, since that's about what I value my time at, and that's really competitive for other landscaping companies in my area. Does anyone have any advice on how to bring up pricing? For instance, should I discuss it before or after the work has been done? I have 30$/hour in mind as my price, but obviously I'd like to make as much as possible and not hold myself back. Are there any negotiation strategies I can adopt to maximize my rate while not insulting the customer? Obviously, I'd like these people to become recurring clients. [link] [comments] |

Where did you find your Mentor? Posted: 03 May 2020 12:33 PM PDT I am an aspiring entrepreneur, learning from youtube, books, and r/Entrepreneur . It feels like I've learned a lot over these past couple years, but I'm struggling to find a "next move". It'd be nice to have a real person I can approach for advice because most people in my life are no help when it comes to Entrepreneurship. If you have a mentor, where did you find them? A 23 year old addict with no direction Posted: 03 May 2020 02:16 PM PDT I am a 23 year old male who is struggling with benzodiazapine addiction. I've been sober on and off this past year. A lot more off with maybe three or four relapses. I'm sober again living in my brothers home paying virtually no rent, just water bill. I have experience with under the table residential plumbing and think that is the direction I might go. I'm currently working 25 hours a week doing customer service for $10 an hour. I would like to start my apprenticeship in plumbing and eventually become independent. But I do not have my license do to a DUI in 2017. I've served my probation and studying for the driving test again. I'm afraid with my record I won't be able to land anything in plumbing because driving is a must and most companies require a good record to drive their vehicles. I'm at a loss. I have no direction and feel fairly hopeless about my future. I have a GED and no college experience. I'd rather not go to school. At this point, anything to make me an independent adult would be ideal. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 May 2020 02:10 PM PDT How do you brainstorm virtually? I'm a "talk-to-think" person, and I love nothing more than to brainstorm with friends in front of a whiteboard. Social distancing has been a thing for a while obviously, and honestly I miss these idea sharing sessions. Zoom calls and Slack help, but they don't have the same effect imo. [link] [comments] |
Should I create my order fulfillment system or connect to existing APIs? Posted: 03 May 2020 02:10 PM PDT If I am shipping 1,000 orders a day total for five different companies, would it be best for me to create my own fulfillment system or simply create a dashboard that would connect to various existing APIs (inventory management, order management, reporting & analytics, connect to store to download orders, print labels, email confirmation on orders, etc). If existing API is the smartest decision, what are some recommendations in that department? [link] [comments] |
How do I start a scalable business with a few hundred dollars? Posted: 03 May 2020 02:09 PM PDT I'm 18, attending my last year of community college online, have $700 to my name, and want to start a scalable business. I'm thinking of car washing since I have the waterless equipment, car washes are closed, and I can do it while social distancing. The problem is, I can't do it that quickly without water, and my hose isn't connected, and a power washer is expensive. Any rapidly scalable businesses I can start with a small amount of money? I'm looking to buy a rental property in two years, and that'll require at least $10,000, so that should give you guys some ideas. [link] [comments] |
Can a non-US company serve US citizens? Posted: 03 May 2020 08:09 AM PDT Hi Reddit! We're building a SaaS marketing tool, and we're going to release our first demo in May. We're targeting the US market, but none of us is US citizen, neither is the company is US Corp at the moment. We're not going to charge any money for our services at this stage, the point is to gather first feedback; so the question is - can we start running it without forming the US legal entity? Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
Do you use Gantt charts for your projects? Posted: 03 May 2020 02:05 PM PDT Hello everyone, I'm trying to learn about Gantt charts and their use among entrepreneurs. Do you find them useful? What tools are you using to generate them? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 May 2020 01:51 PM PDT Hey guys, Does anyone recommend a decent CRM software. Its for a mobile detailing business. I want to be able to input clients, create appointments, and follow up. Also, I want to be able to differentiate between a prospect and a current client. If there's one where I can also get an 800 number that would be great. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 May 2020 01:41 PM PDT For a business, once they have found some traction, they should commit to improving their core competency / value proposition. For Amazon it's their convenience and selection, for Nike it's their pursuit of performance technology. Your business should in whatever way it can, commit to choosing the thing they want to be specialized in, and to keep improving it. For example if you sold a cup with a heating element inside that can boil water in 1 minute, its dishwasher proof, it's wireless charging. Another container that has rows of electric or normal cutting blades in it, that can chop food for cooking. It's next products can be a machine that makes mixed drinks like a bartender. A machine that makes and mixes dough to make pasta. The company then becomes a 'convenience & innovative' company. It has built it's brand around this, it's built products, design teams, engineering teams.Essentially the idea is to specialize and become better at that one thing than anyone else? Is there such a thing as 'business personals'? Like the business version of dating personals? Posted: 03 May 2020 01:20 PM PDT I'd really like to meet people that want to do entrepreneurial things, but doing so through things like networking events is kind of a crapshoot. A networking event is sort of like meeting people at a bar, I'd rather post something about myself and what I want to get into, what I bring to the table, etc. and meet up with someone like-minded. Does such a thing exist? I think that would be pretty cool. [link] [comments] |
Hobby vs New Business Opportunity? Posted: 03 May 2020 07:07 AM PDT How do you define if a hobby you have should develop into a possible business, or stay a hobby? For example, I personally started brewing beer about 1-2 years ago. This is something I really enjoy doing, researching, and eventually drinking. I admire every thing of a B2C business and love the idea of starting brewery (making product, marketing it, face to face with customers). But I've also read that hobbies should stay hobbies and not become your every day job, for the fear of losing interest. I am 25yo (mechanical eng and manufacturing eng) and currently own and operate a small industrial manufacturing B2B company. But manufacturing industrial equipment wasn't something I got a tingling feeling in my body every day, it was running/growing a small business. TLDR: Should you turn a hobby into a business? Homebrewing into a brewery, mowing lawns into landscaping, baking into a bakery, etc. [link] [comments] |

Has anyone permitted a pedal-bike food service unit? Posted: 03 May 2020 12:59 PM PDT I'd like to expand my current coffeehouse to include a mobile unit. My current county code (Alexandria, VA) are outdated and only cover motorized vehicles. I've got a meeting upcoming w the Dept of Env Health and want to ask the right questions or plant the right seeds. TIA! [link] [comments] |
Selling luxury items on Amazon and eBay ? Posted: 03 May 2020 03:27 AM PDT I've started a company that makes handmade, custom large world globes, and because of the lack of sales and organic traffic i'm thinking of listing the globes on Amazon or ebay. Is that a terrible idea ? I've never sold on Amazon but i've heard that there is no seller protection, so i could lose +5000 euros and 3 months of work if somebody decides they want a refund ? Mods if i'm allowed to put a link to my site, let me know. [link] [comments] |
Canadian entrepreneur to live in the USA Posted: 03 May 2020 11:52 AM PDT Hey everyone, might not be the best sub but thought I'd ask here anyways. I am a 24y/o self employed entrepreneur who works in internet marketing/eCommerce. Basically all my business is done from my laptop. I have been entertaining the idea of potentially relocating to the states. I know I am allowed six months there but wanted the option to stay longer and potentially live there moving forward. I have only heard the bad/negative/unrealistic views on this topic, such as you'll never get a visa, you have to have an employer, etc... But, I wanted to see if it was at all possible to do? Anyone know how I could go about this? Potential visas/opportunities, etc? Appreciate all comments and input, Thanks [link] [comments] |
If I created a board game and I want to sell it on Amazon, what do I need to do? Posted: 03 May 2020 11:51 AM PDT I'm really excited to be in the final phases of having my board game actually made. Aside from word of mouth sales and other small shops, I am hoping to sell my game on Amazon. Aside from having a seller account, what else do I need to have in order to sell my game? Does it need to be trademarked or anything like that? Do I need a specific quantity of the game before I can sell? All information would be much appreciated. Thank you Reddit! [link] [comments] |
How to be picked up by influencers/the press/TV/radio? Posted: 03 May 2020 11:18 AM PDT Hey, I launched a not-for-profit on Friday that allows anyone to show appreciation to our NHS by buying them a takeaway as a thank you. For the purpose of the advice I'm asking for in this post, I think it's worthwhile sharing the URL: CheersNHS.com We launched on Friday and are currently sitting at £1,465 worth of takeaways donated, which I'm pretty happy with so far. We've used this weekend as our soft launch to listen to feedback, iron out bugs, and complete some more features before launching properly this coming week. Feedback has been really good, and it's beginning to go "viral". For example, when we launched we had just over 300 NHS workers signed up, and we now have nearly 600 - without any efforts to bring them on board. The number of donors is also growing organically now, too, which is great. I've focussed on hitting my network as much as possible to donate a takeaway, and while it's been quite successful so far, I know it's not going to take this into truly viral or national growth. Does anyone have any advice for how I can grow this significantly? I think I can hit in the 10s of thousands of pounds in donations carrying on as I am, but I'd love to set a stretch goal and hit in the 100s of thousands of pounds in donations. Judging by the reception it's had so far, I think it's entirely possible - it just needs to be put in front of the right people (the hard part!). I believe this makes for a positive, uplifting news story during a time of awfully negative news stories everywhere. Positive stores around the topic of coronavirus are also quite hard to come by it seems, so I'm hoping this will be a nice relief to the usual terrible news. Things I've done so far to these ends:
Does anyone have any advice for how else I can get this out there? Any advice for even opening up a conversation with influencers or more traditionally famous people? If anyone is able to share any intros to journalists or similar that might like to chat, then I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Joe [link] [comments] |
