Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:45 AM PST This is just an experiment to understand if there is a pattern. I know this is not entirely sub-related. I'm a sales guy with a mind of an academic and I work in Big Data so I'm slightly curious. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Coworker wants to try coke on sales meeting Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:53 AM PST One of my coworkers has a few big sales meetings coming up, and he's wondering if it would help to do a bump before each meeting. Lol. He's used it every few months if he goes out partying, but he isn't experienced using it during the day, much less for work. Long-term effects aside, does anyone know if doing a bump would help or hinder the meeting? You'll have to trust me when I say the reward for closing these deals would be absolutely worth the health risk. He's just curious to know the effects on his in-meeting performance. Posted: 04 Mar 2020 01:16 AM PST Title explains it... assuming ownership of Gmail inbox which hasn't been used in months. It contains a lot of critical information which is not currently in our CRM (SalesForce) and needs to be. Has anyone been in this position before, or have any ideas on how to sift through ~10,000 emails like this in a timely manner? I've just built out a few labels so far and am trying to archive as much crap as possible, but there's so many inbound sales pitches (people trying to sell us stuff) and newsletter/best practice/marketing emails that it's slow work. I'm thinking it would be wise to archive all non-customer communications and assign labels to things of relevance, leaving the Inbox itself as just customer communications and in a position to be somehow exported into SF with contact history/leads/accounts imported in bulk. Appreciate any thoughts. [link] [comments] |
Looking for sales help for b2b2c tech startup Posted: 04 Mar 2020 02:28 AM PST Hey guys. On the side of my day job I've been building a startup web project. I've built the roll out mvp and have awesome connections with some random investors. A few and VC contacts. Biggest issue: I'm a solo founder and am pre revenue. I also suck at sales. So with starting on the b2b end, I'm looking for prospect help with sales. Demoing the platform and benefits to area businesses to encourage signups. I've got a generous, cappless commission structure and good fits may also be considered as partners/co-founders to lead growth sales on the next phase after some traction to capital raise. If anyone is interested please let me know. Bonus points if you've worked selling for b2b2c tech startups and/or health and wellness sales . I'm located back and forth from NC, LA and Honolulu. Prefer someone in one of those spots if possible [link] [comments] |
Dealing with an incompetent manager that sees any feedback or suggestion as a threat Posted: 04 Mar 2020 08:06 AM PST Hey y'all, Gonna keep this short. I've been an SDR at this company for almost a year now. When I first joined 1/4 of the team hit quota or exceeded , a 1/3 was just below, and everyone else is ramping up. We have a new manager that joined in Q4. Our work flow has been significantly changed to a strategy that never worked in the past and I was told to completely avoid because we would never hit quota. February was our best month since we have had the new manager. 1/10 of the team hit quota those that did had special privileges that gave access to more prospects. The next highest person hit 60% to quota which is about where the rest of the team was (60 - 50% quota). I had a 1:1 with the boss to address how we're supposed to hit quota. The conversation quickly turned heated when I was told I don't want you to hit quota I want you to hit 75% to quota. I told her then quota needs to change because when I want to be hired as an AE at this company what do I put on my resume? She blew up at me and asked if I even wanted to be there, that's she is disappointed in me. Stoping herself short of saying I'm ungrateful. The meeting ended with if anyone else feels this way we can have a conversation if they want to be here. I went straight to my director and let him know that our meeting went sour and I wanted to make it crystal clear to him that I do want to be here. Just ranting not really sure what the heck I'm supposed to do. [link] [comments] |
Switching from Salesperson to Service Advisor at my dealership? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 12:20 PM PST I've worked in car sales for several years, looking for a change of environment but I love the auto industry. Im wondering if going to the Service dept as a Service advisor is a good move. Most places do a salary plus commission pay structure and the hours/obligations are much better for me. Has anybody here made that switch before? If so, what was the job like compared to the sales floor? [link] [comments] |
When 4 o clock comes around how do you stay focused? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:52 AM PST Around 4 pm I'm pretty much useless on the phones and or working in general. What are some things you guys do to keep you going when your focus and energy begins to die down? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2020 12:02 PM PST https://i.imgur.com/MAEL5r7.jpg Saw this on LinkedIn the other day. I understand that not everyone needs to be technical to do their sales job well, but making a virtue out of it or claiming that their "people" and "political" skills are non-replaceable while mere pedestrian engineering skills are going to get automated away is not just strange, but also incorrect imo. What are your thoughts on this matter? [link] [comments] |
Managed to land job interview as sales consultant at IT-marketing agencie, what to expect? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:09 AM PST So, I'm actually a first year CS student, but wondering to switch for finance next semester. I don't really have much relevant job experience regarding this offer, besides my couple hobby projects with brand development, and my summer jobs at a farm. Couple days ago, I was randomly scrolling through available jobs in my hometown, and I found couple interesting positions. So quickly wrote a job application and updated my CV. Tbh without any expectations I got a phone call next day, and they invited me for a job interview for next week. I'm just curious, since this is my first ever real job interview, what should I expect? Could I possibly get a job offer here, since they didn't specify any higher education requirements? I just want to go into this interview with realistic expectations. If someone have any good tips for this interview, I would highly appreciate it! What should I mention and what I shouldn't touch up on to? [link] [comments] |
Advice for someone considering Pharmaceutical Sales Posted: 04 Mar 2020 01:27 PM PST So a bit of background: I have a B.S. degree in Biomedical Sciences with minors in chemistry and biology. I originally was planning on going to school to be a provider of some sort (first considered med school, then PA school, then rad tech) but after initially being waitlisted for the school I wanted to go to I started to stray from that plan over time. Since I graduated undergrad nearly two years ago, I have worked as a patient transporter in a hospital for 9 months, an insurance agent for 7 months, and a marketing rep for 7 months. As seen from the timeline spent at each job I am struggling to find the job that I want to make a career out of. I recently just got certified as a pharma rep from the National Association of Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives and am currently looking for a job in the industry. However, I have been reading a lot about how the pharma industry is either dying or dominated by good-looking individuals (I'm fairly smart but am an average looking 25 year old guy) and I'm worried that the industry no longer has great job security. I would greatly appreciate feedback from anyone on the subject whether you are/were a Pharmaceutical rep, have interacted with reps, or just have any general advice on the matter. I have heard that in regard to healthcare sales (where I feel I would excel at with my combined healthcare/sales experience), medical device sales is the way to go rather than Pharmaceutical Sales. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Podcast suggestions for my industry Posted: 04 Mar 2020 05:43 AM PST I am in B2B and my role within the company is getting people to use our card reward programme. As a business we don't make money from the customer. We make money off the transactions when a customer uses us. I self generate all my leads and I use LinkedIn, Cold call and E-mail. Can anyone suggest any podcasts that might help me out? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Completely new to selling! B2B sales advice required Posted: 04 Mar 2020 07:04 AM PST I've got my own hiring platform, and I'm planning on starting in my own county to get feedback and learn to improve. My main target audience is restaurants and retail - but also includes soft skill roles like sales, recruitment and customer facing roles How would you go about selling to small businesses like restaurants and then these bigger businesses with office roles? Would you purely focus on cold emailing/calling? Is this the best way to start? [link] [comments] |
Books to help grow your career in SPANISH Posted: 04 Mar 2020 12:58 PM PST I work in the hotel industry and want to create a little career library. I am looking for for books to help all departments learn new skills, ways of thinking, and motivate. I am looking for books in SPANISH and ENGLISH. I only speak english, but alot of our employees speak Spanish as their first language and I would like to provide books in Spanish for them to read. I find that a lot sales type books are relatable to people outside sales too. I am having trouble finding some of the books I want in Spanish. Does anyone have suggestions for books in Spanish that I could buy on Amazon? I tried searching and google translating, but I feel like this may lead to buying books that don't fit my need. if someone knows another sub I could post this in please share! So far this is what I have come up with: How to win friends and influence people Getting to Yes, Negotiating agreement without giving in Working with difficult people Focal Point Nice girls don't get the corner office Man's Search for Meaning Primed to Perform Thanks! Sucked in by "entrepreneur' and 'sales' gurus - please help! Posted: 04 Mar 2020 12:49 PM PST After I started my first business I entered the most difficult emotional phase of my life. I ended up discovering entrepreneur/sales gurus like Grant Cardone, and got sucked into the trap. My whole life identity got wrapped up in it. Fortunately I was bright enough not to fork over thousands of dollars for these peoples' seminars and whatnot, but I fell for their whole cult mentality and outlook. Now that I've realized it's all garbage (Cardone is a Scientologist, and as I've read up on the cult, Cardone and most other guru materials basically follow Scientology to the T) I can't help but feel depressed and pathetic for having fallen for it. I know that they prey on people who are down in life. But I can't look at entrepreneurship or sales the same way, as it has been so poisoned by them. It's hard to decouple entrepreneurship/sales (what should be an exciting adventure into working towards my dreams and creating stuff to share with people) with their outlook, mindset, etc. So as I result I don't even want to work on my projects, try and sell anything, and just retreat on the couch. Any help/advice? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Software sales interview, a little different than the others we see so many posted about Posted: 04 Mar 2020 12:48 PM PST My question is, If you wind up having five interviews total, two recruiters, two team leads and finally the sales manager at headquarters in another state altogether... Is there a number where you may be more confident going hey I made it passed four interviews, most are turned away at the recruiters second phone call pre screening Or after the two team leads But the team leads must have liked me cause they moved me to the manager. Did I get it? Or in the software world can they run you through the ringer like that for a whole month just for fun and then say no? 🙃 Thanks! [link] [comments] |

How to spend my $2000 development budget? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:47 AM PST Hiya! I was hoping I could get some recommendation on some resources that might be worth purchasing. I get a generous development budget as part of my compensation, but I'm at a loss at what to do with it. I'd prefer to avoid buying books, I use the library frequently and have access to free copies of most of the recommend books I see on here. Any idea about courses or tools that will help me improve at selling? [link] [comments] |
UK car sales job hunting struggle? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:21 AM PST Hi everyone, I really want to get into car sales at the moment but having a really hard time getting a position even though I have 3 years motor trade experience and year sales experience. I feel like I'm interviewing really well but just cant seem to get the job. Anyone had anything similar? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:19 AM PST I'm looking for a web-based CRM software that will manage customer accounts. Also, I'd like the software to manage and store user credits that are purchased. It would be awesome if customers could log in from a user portal and use those credits that have been purchased and added to their account. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Mar 2020 06:53 PM PST I'm compiling a list of possible questions to ask in an interview to get the person interviewing you to sell you on their position. The objective would be to change their mindset from you trying to sell yourself, to them realizing that they should do everything they can to give you the position: The first one that I think is the most interesting is: "Who are your major competitors and why is your product better than theirs?" (I would break this into two sentences, first asking about the major competitors and then asking about why their product is better than the competition). This basically puts out there that if I you can't sell me on why I should work with you, your going to tell me who I should work for. Here are some others: "What appealed to you about my resume?" "After looking at my resume, are there any reasons you would feel doubtful about hiring me that you feel that I should clarify?" "How do you show that you care about your customer and how do you think this is able to change your customer's perception of you?" "How do you go above and beyond when it comes to caring about your customers?" "What are your top account executives (or SDRs) doing well and what do you think they could improve on?" "What are the next steps in the interview process? . . . . How long does it typically take to move a candidate from their first interview to being hired?" Of course, end with some snarky comment like, "When do I start?" If starting is not the step, saying, "So when's the in person interview?" What other questions do you think you could ask to change it up? [link] [comments] |
Are any of these "Electronic Payment Sales" jobs legit? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 10:38 AM PST I keep getting interviews for these Electronic Payment Sales jobs. Ostensibly they pay you to sell POS systems to local businesses after generating leads for you. I've never done any sort of B2B sales, so I have no clue if they're legit or not. Should I actually entertain any of these intervieews/offers? One of them claims a 40k salary + commission + residuals. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Mar 2020 08:52 AM PST Thanks to everyone who have created so many useful posts in this subreddit. Spin Selling and Challenger Sale were great. I'm consuming so much information, I love it! I'm also trying to connect with the right people on Linkedin. I have personal connections that might help me get into an AE role at a smaller SaaS provider, a mortgage broker(pretty much guaranteed over 150K), or in insurance sales(making small money). But my heart is in SaaS for a big name. Big thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/sales/comments/ce3g7d/updating_the_best_of_rsales_post/ I have a few years of experience with a partnership we founded a decade ago. I was the partner in charge of sales and I killed it, it was awesome. I had no idea what I was doing, but my father was in sales for years. After tagging along with him, I guess I picked up on what worked. My most recent experience is as a company officer and lieutenant, which might be a problem. I have a history as a Realtor and mortgage broker, killed it there as well. I want to learn something new and learn newer sales techniques. I understand bigger companies sometimes have better training. Anyhow, should I hold out for a bigger company? I have a top 50 list which includes companies like Ultimate Software(which merged with Telestaff), Salesforce, Oracle, Google, Amazon, Stryker, SAP, Microsoft, ADP, and many more. I also want to move to a bigger market, like NY, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay. Are bigger markets better for SaaS sales income? I know someone who never got a call for his resume until he got a random to internally refer him. Is it like that at many companies? TLDR: Early 40's fireman wants the thrill of closing again. Are big companies better for an old hose dragger? Any suggestions on which companies? Do you think I can score an AE role at a big company? Is it easier to get into a company with a referral? Any other advice? [link] [comments] |
