Straco Corp: Very Cheap High Margin Aquarium

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 04:20 AM PST

Straco Corp derives most of it's pre-tax profit (around 70%) from an aquarium located in the heart of Shanghai. Other assets include another, smaller, aquarium and a cable-car in China and an observation wheel in the Singapore marina (where the Formula One race is held).

The fact that inventories and accounts receivable are negligible make this a business that can be very cash generative, as is Straco.

Due to the Coronavirus the attractions in China were closed which pressured the stock price. Furthermore, the observation wheel, bought out of bankruptcy, developer went broke, has had its second failure and has been out of order since November. I believe these are temporary issues and the long-term value of the company is still intact. The stock is some 30% down since I wrote about it on my blog at https://netosnotes.blogspot.com/2019/07/background-straco-corporation-develops.html

I revisited the company and adjusted the valuation to reflect the higher net cash balance https://netosnotes.blogspot.com/2020/02/revisiting-straco-corporation.html

I thought the company was already cheap, but not cheap enought, before it was down 30%. I believe investors are buying a $1 for $0.50.
