    Odd situation with boss/accounts

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 09:07 AM PST

I work for a small company in the sales department and we are currently in a down turn. Seems like it's because of seasonal retailer trends post holidays. I work as new sales acquisition but also do account management. I have a few clients that are large and contribute massively to our number. Because of this the owner of the company is contacting them on his own and trying to get orders out of them. So much so that he has changed pricing for my customers but they still haven't purchased. Overall the consensus from my large clients is that ordering will begin soon and it has nothing to do with us as a company.

I'm not sure how I should feel as far as my job security when the owner is taking his time to personally email and call the customers that I manage. I know he has his own set of large customers but they have stopped orders as well and I believe he's bleeding over to my accounts to compensate. I would like to add that I am talking about multiple reach out emails and calls per week.

Should I feel comfortable having my main money makers being personally contacted? I feel like I can't say anything but I'm also worried one day I'll walk in and be told that I'm losing my accounts. Ideas?

I'm graduating this June with a BA in Business and have about 2 years of commercial pest control sales experience. I would love to get into the Tech/SaaS sales field and I'm going to start applying next week to SDR/BDR jobs. I was wondering if anyone here had some good companies they could recommend in Toronto for this role? I know this is a long shot but if anyone here in the Toronto area could help me get a job I would get you a gift and It'd be extremely appreciated.

Have you ever sold a SaaS product to an architect, interior designer or Construction firm owner?

What could be a Beachhead market to acquire above type of customers? What should my approach be like while persuading them to buy my product?

    Anyone familiar with AltiSales?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 07:27 AM PST

It is run by a well known and respected SDR thought leader of LinkedIn. It's a fully remote 100 dials a day SDR outsourcing company that pays well.

Obviously it sounds like tons of work but if anyone has any experience with them please let me know!

Need some advice - switching companies Sr AE (SaaS) leaving significant pipeline on the table

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 10:18 AM PST

Hey guys - really looking for advice on whether to stick with my current company or take a new opportunity that's come my way. *Going to scramble the company facts a bit for anonymity

Current company - let's call it company 1 - successful start up in the data space -still private, plans to eventually IPO but prob a few yrs away -not greenfield at all, more leveraging current customer base to increase ARR (part of my reason to leave)

PROS: -have significant pipeline on the table (conservatively 30k-50k worth of commission in the next 3-5 months) -like the ppl I work with -work life balance is great and the company trusts me/flexibility to work from home when I need to -great culture

CONS: -OTE is damn hard to attain, very few reps hit, most finishing 50-75% to plan -upward mobility is extremely limited -product isn't innovating, growing competition -very limited greenfield for new biz -long sales cycle (6-12 mo) -upper mgt is ehh, not bad just drank too much kool aid -long term I don't see myself being successful there

Prospective company (company 2) -Much larger, more established company in a different space (still SaaS)

PROS: -higher base and OTE ($20k/$40k increase + $15k ramp) -greenfield opportunity -confirmed with a rep there most hit their OTE -better benefits (401k match, stock options) -shorter sales cycle 3 mo -a lot of upward mobility potential

CONS: -new space, new product -have to prove myself again (long hrs in the beginning) -build a brand new pipe -unknown ppl/culture

Company 2 has reiterated that they want me to start ASAP which means walking away from a lot of commission I've worked hard to earn over the last 6-12 mo. They also have told me that this position most likely won't be available later in the year.

Wtf do I do? Do I stick with my current job, close out my pipe and risk the job not being available in a few months? Or take a leap of faith on the new job and run with it?

Worth noting that my current company would not counteroffer if I brought it to them.

Thanks in advance - really appreciate anyone's insight.

Is all SDR transactional? SDR for HR Consultancy.

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 10:00 AM PST

    Hi all,

I need some advice, I'm an SDR for a complex product (HR consultancy/L&D/People management) however I focus heavily on my sales team and us being a 'partnerships' rather than the products.

I encouraging just a 20-30min conversation with someone who understands the market, been in the industry for 10+ years, who know what similar companies are doing and who's job is to stay up to date with recent research that my prospects just don't have time to do.

I am building cadences/sequences of calls, emails and LinkedIn to prospect individuals and most are for 2 weeks and is a recommended sequence for 'transactional sales'. 12 attempts (not including 1 or 2 Voicemails). Is this what you'd recommend as a start?

Possible to work on solar sales or any industry from outside of US ? I live in Pakistan and opportunity is scarce here. I have worked sales in the software (local).

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 01:34 AM PST

I have no direction or the will to look for commission only remote jobs in USA. I have tried:

    Flexjobs Weworkremotely Calling recruitment agencies

Nothing seems to work for the past year. Please bring me back to reality if this approach is not possible. God bless

Advice for those cold calling to SMB restaurant owners?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 07:32 AM PST

I recently accepted a job where my job is to qualify leads and generate interest in POS to then pass it on to sales if we feel it's a good mutual fit. Lately, I go into my pitch and either get hung up on or a flat "not interested" without hearing what I have to offer. Any advice would be appreciated! Also if there is a platform that identifies when a business is opening or coming soon, please share. I also get credit for new business owners.

    Car Sales

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:04 PM PST

Hey guys. I have a couple interviews next week at Subaru and Chevy and was wondering if I could get some advice on being a good car salesman? I've never sold cars before but I have an online business and I'm good at internet sales. I wanted to give cars a try. I'm good with people and I can sell so why not. Right now I work Uber because it's flexible and I own an online business, a clothing brand, but I'm looking to make more money and grow my business. Uber is stressful, too much driving, traffic, parking, accidents, gas, miles, wear and tear, long hours, money is only good at night, it's just a headache, so I think I need a change. Does anybody sell cars? Can you make good money? Any advice on how to be a top salesman? Thank you.

I have an open house/group interview for a sales position in a few days. I've never had an interview like this so could I get some tips to prepare?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 03:06 PM PST

I've read some notable threads on this subreddit on how to prepare for interviews and they've helped a great deal. I've done ample research for this company, have stories to share from past jobs, know how to respond to some classic sales interview questions, etc. This is the second interview for this job and the last was a lengthy and detailed phone call with their talent acquisition manager.

    Looking for Website Sale Associates

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 06:31 PM PST

    Hi!

I am the owner of a small website design company. I wanted to know where is the best place to find sales associates that would be interested in a commission-based sales gig.

Not sure if this is the right form, or if there are places to post job offers like this.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I need as much insight and opinions as I can get, anything is appreciated

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 02:22 PM PST

So I finally found a job that's relevant to my degree, and relevant to my interests. It seemed like even though literally everything else went to shit, I had this going for me.

My territory was great - I was very familiar with the area and knew how to communicate with them. (Kind of stuffy people, but I grew up in a stuffy neighborhood so it worked out). My first week, I got sick for a week. Then I was mostly fine for the following week and fell in love with the job. Then two weeks after that I got sick again for a week. Hand to god, it was legitimate. I submitted doctor's notes and everything. It just sucked. All I wanted to do was start my new life and make people not regret hiring me.

The week after the last time I got sick, I came into the office and in 20 minutes of coming in I was let go. I was told they were skimming the branch and since I was one of the last few people hired, I was the first to go. I was assured that it wasn't a performance issue. That was this past Monday.

Today, I looked on LinkedIn, and my exact position, in my exact office, was posted on LinkedIn. So clearly I was lied to. I'm heartbroken. Granted the hours weren't great but I felt like I finally had purpose. Did they let me go because they felt I was a liability? I NEVER get sick. Ever. This was just really bad timing, I haven't even worked there for a full month.

Would it be foolish of me to contact HR and tell her that I saw the posting and that I'd like to get my job back? Or should I just let it die because they probably think I'm a liability?

Thank you to anyone who reads this.
