Tesla moves into China as shares double and market cap nears value of GM, Ford combined Posted: 07 Jan 2020 01:34 PM PST Shares of Tesla have doubled in the last six months, giving the Silicon Valley automaker a market capitalization of roughly $84.4 billion. Tesla's market cap is almost as much as General Motors and Ford combined. The combined market cap of GM and Ford is about $86 billion. Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 07 Jan 2020 04:15 PM PST This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)Largest Insider Selling (Last 7 Days)

Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 07 Jan 2020 04:16 PM PST These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds). There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions. New FilingsThis table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold. Amended FilingsThis table lists amended filings in the last week, and is useful for monitoring changes in existing investments or when a fund closes a position. I have eliminated all filings with less than a 5% change in ownership. ELI5: A company beats EPS by 0,01 (0,05 was expected) and beats revenue Posted: 07 Jan 2020 02:11 PM PST As an amateur, my look it that the company prospered in the quarter but not as expected by the analysts, yet it seems to go in the right direction... value increased, right? Everything looks good... The company in this case is EXFO. Best Index Funds to Invest in? Posted: 07 Jan 2020 05:52 PM PST Hello All, After doing a bit of research, it seems investing in index funds is the best strategy for me. Low effort and don't need to spend time on researching stocks. I realize the gains won't possibly be as high as buying individual stocks, but I'm hoping to just get "the average market's return" per year I'm curious what the best index funds to invest in are? I was told to look for something that pays dividends. Any idea which index funds are good that also pay dividends? Iran presents an immense oil opportunity Posted: 07 Jan 2020 05:49 PM PST In 2019 Q4, I took several positions in crude derivatives and oil stocks, chiefly Exxon, chevron, ConocoPhillips and OXY They have all soared. Stellar start to 2020 and the new decade after a choppy 2019. Who is buying oil futures? Posted: 07 Jan 2020 03:24 PM PST What resources would you guys vouch for learning about how to invest in the stock market, geared toward a green horn? I am a college graduate with some financial literacy (took a few econ courses) but nothing substantial. I figured Google would have me wading through all sorts of get-rich-quick schemes and questionable advice before finding something reliable. I don't know enough about this to be able to disregard the bullshit. FYI I have about $5,000 to play around with and a high tolerance for risk. This is not my nest egg, more like hobby money I am willing to watch over like a hawk. Edit: In case it isn't clear, I am not looking for advice on what stocks/funds to invest in, but advice on how to go about investing in the first place. What're some popular systems, ways to track your investments, and how to evaluate stocks. Posted: 07 Jan 2020 09:35 AM PST I am new to this, but i invested 5000$ in a company yesterday. Since then it has gone up 19% because of some good deals in the shipping-world. I think it would be weird if it suddenly just went -5% or whatever. It would make sense if tomorrow it would be +5% and then maybe +2% and then lower and lower. It wouldnt make sense if it just went from +10% to -5% when nothing major hava happened. Can someone with some experience confirm or deny? please explain your thoughts aswell [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Posted: 07 Jan 2020 07:04 AM PST Hi, I'm starting to get into stocks. I've been watching them for a few months now and I'm ready to start. I'm a mainly looking at stocks that are under $100 per share and I'm looking for long term gain. I just want to buy them and leave them. Any advice on which stocks to get? Would love to know what others are looking at. Thanks [link] [comments] |
