JPMorgan Creates ‘Volfefe’ Index to Track Trump Tweet Impact Posted: 04 Dec 2019 05:52 AM PST "Two of the largest Wall Street banks are trying to measure the market impact of Donald Trump's tweets. Analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co. have created an index to quantify what they say are the growing effects on U.S. bond yields. Citigroup Inc.'s foreign exchange team, meanwhile, report that these micro-blogging missives are also becoming "increasingly relevant" to foreign-exchange moves. JPMorgan's "Volfefe Index," named after Trump's mysterious covfefe tweet from May 2017, suggests that the president's electronic musings are having a statistically significant impact on Treasury yields. The number of market-moving Trump tweets has ballooned in the past month, with those including words such as "China," "billion," "products," "Democrats" and "great" most likely to affect prices, the analysts found." The repo market is ‘broken’ and Fed injections are not a lasting solution, market pros warn Posted: 04 Dec 2019 02:25 PM PST Banks prefer to keep money at Fed instead of lending to other banks The Federal Reserve's ongoing efforts to shore up the short-term "repo" lending markets have begun to rattle some market experts. The New York Federal Reserve has spent hundreds of billions of dollars to keep credit flowing through short term money markets since mid-September when a shortage of liquidity caused a spike in overnight borrowing rates. But as the Fed's interventions have entered a third month, concerns about the market's dependence on its daily doses of liquidity have grown. "The big picture answer is that the repo market is broken," said James Bianco, founder of Bianco Research in Chicago, in an interview with MarketWatch. "They are essentially medicating the market into submission," he said. "But this is not a long-term solution." [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2019 02:45 PM PST I'm new to the stock market, still paper trading. So bear with me and try to explain in the easiest, simplest way. Lol. When trading l, specifically day or swing trading. Should I take out my estimated taxes for each profit? Or does it go off of my profit at the end of the year? Example (1) I'm in at $1000 for day trading. End of the day, I sell those stocks for $1030. Should I go ahead and estimate my taxes on that $30 profit and separate it from the account? OR, do I only have to take taxes out of the profit/money I take out of the account and into my bank??? OR am I completely wrong. I've tried looking this up. It gets too complicated. I have a cash account, not margin, with Webull, and it's less than 25k. How do y'all go about paying y'all's taxes? I'm still paper trading, just want to make sure I understand before using real money. [link] [comments] |
What does it mean for the market when feds inject $70.1 billion? Posted: 04 Dec 2019 10:27 AM PST Just curious on your thoughts of what this means for the market. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2019 04:06 PM PST I bought 9 shares this AM with no prior knowledge of this and was surprised when I arrived home from work and checked my phone. Wished I had bought more into it now! When to pull out of a stock? What is your thoughts on this company? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2019 06:48 PM PST I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I'm sure it has come across every traders mind at least once as "literally free money". Why is shorting/ buying puts/ selling call credit spreads on vixxy not profitable long term? It always goes down. That's its nature, same thing with inverse ETF's such as SPSX. It seems like a no brainer, but no one does it. What am I missing? [link] [comments] |
ALLK up 40% on rumor that it will sell itself. Crazy! Posted: 04 Dec 2019 12:08 PM PST |
Posted: 04 Dec 2019 08:52 AM PST Why does my stock market history show multiple stocks went down to 0.00$ December 2nd? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Is the steel industry on lifeline? Posted: 04 Dec 2019 08:50 AM PST The steel industry has been on the down and never recovered in the US since 1973 recession. Our automotive industry would be the same, without the bailouts. Notice that the steel industries had a boost from 2016. There was a massive steel tariff placed to protect US steel. Trump has place more tariffs helping the industrial industries. During the 2020 these stocks will go volatile. The steel industry is on a lifeline just there to keep jobs for political sense. Eventually the US government is going to have to let go of US industry or pay higher pricing on all things steel vs the rest of the world. Read the part on what the day about china. China's been creating an extreme amount of steel. Then off loading it onto the world market driving price of steel to the floor. All because it's a jobs program for China. https://www.steel-technology.com/articles/top-largest-steel-producing-countries-in-the-world [link] [comments] |

If not what is the best trading platform to currently use for a beginner! I say beginner since I've only had my Robinhood account for about a year now but only traded never used options which is something I def feel like I'd try since that's where I see people make money. I def like having a good app but would prefer a place that has good information and helpful when trading. Thanks everyone [link] [comments] |
