    r/Stocks Daily Discussion & Technicals Tuesday - Nov 05, 2019

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 12:07 AM PST

This is the daily discussion, so anything stocks related is fine, but the theme for today is on technical analysis (TA), but if TA is not your thing then just ignore the theme and/or post your arguments against TA here and not in the current post.

Some helpful day to day links, including news:

Technical analysis (TA) uses historical price movements, real time data, indicators based on math and/or statistics, and charts; all of which help measure the trajectory of a security. TA can also be used to interpret the actions of other market participants and predict their actions.

The main benefit to TA is that everything shows up in the price (commonly known as "priced in"): All news, investor sentiment, and changes to fundamentals are reflected in a security's price.

TA can be useful on any timeframe, both short and long term.

How would you feel about a subreddit for european stocks similar to /r/stocks?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 06:59 AM PST

Please inform me if there is already a subreddit of this magnitude for european stocks.

Ive been following /r/stocks for well over half a year and while insightful for general investing strategies it is mainly about american stock.

As a european I feel the need for discussion on european stocks with fellow europeans and anyone else interested. I feel a lot of potential is not picked up on on /r/stocks and thus I am probing how much interest there would be for a european stocks subreddit.

    Please comment your ideas, insights!

What kind of fundamental analysis do you do when deciding when a company is worth it?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:32 PM PST

I know understand the company in terms of their products, management, how they make money, etc is important but other than that, what factors do you take into consideration?

    Buy the PYPL dip

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 08:27 AM PST

PayPal share price down to nearly $100/share, this is a great opportunity for a quick buck, the last earnings report was good and I have no doubts the stock will return to the 104-106 range.

At what price do you think Uber is a buy?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 08:09 AM PST

I've been milling over this for a little- it seems like the stock has been in a consistent state of decline, and overall I feel like Uber is a solid company with a pretty established market share in what they do. I've mostly stayed away because I don't think the stock has found its true value yet because they're still a relatively new publicly-traded stock.

So, any thoughts on when Uber's share price will level out and when do you think it'll be a good time to buy the stock?

    Any analysis or thoughts welcome

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:16 AM PST

Earnings is coming soon and the downtrend finally seems to be settling, hitting support around $20. I entered at $20.94. Stock is looking good long too, with the lowest target price a year from now being an increase from it's current price. Let me know what you guys think.

Resurgent Boeing 737 MAX could trigger jet surplus, analyst warns

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:46 PM PST

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-boeing-737max-supply/resurgent-boeing-737-max-could-trigger-jet-surplus-analyst-warns-idUSKBN1XE21P

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Airlines struggling to cope with the grounding of the 737 MAX could face a markedly different problem when Boeing Co's (BA.N) best-selling jet is cleared to re-enter service: a switch to concerns about aircraft oversupply, carriers have been warned.

The U.S. planemaker has continued to produce the jet since it was grounded in March after two fatal accidents, and is expected to speed deliveries by 40%, to 70 units a month, when its factory doors reopen, in a bid to clear the backlog.

Rob Morris, global head of consultancy at UK-based Ascend by Cirium, said the combination of any rapid rebound in deliveries, economic worries and an accumulation of market pressures dating back before the crashes could make it hard to absorb the jets.

Possible to ‘day trade’ with Ameritrade?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:33 PM PST

Sold some stock last Friday on Ameritrade app and money is not available to trade again until tomorrow (Tuesday) because the trade has not 'settled'. Is there anyway to speed this up? Not a day trader but would like to be able to trade more than twice a week if settlement takes 2 days. Thanks for any advice. 👍🏼

    MCDs

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 02:02 PM PST

Anybody ride this train today? I have a few calls at $192.5. Next week I have calls for $197.5. I wanted to see what your opinion of this is. I was half tempted to dump it all while I was up around 3pm today but decided to hold and see what this week has in store. I am hoping to see $195 by Friday. I see that Wendy's earnings are coming tomorrow, will this affect McDonald's?

Could Someone Explain what's Going on with MTCH?

BDX Reported and Beat Earnings this Morning, Still Red??

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:16 AM PST

I'm pretty new to the financials/fundamentals of healthcare sector stocks, even though BDX beat on both EPS and Revenue, they are still down (currently 3.7%) today.

Does anyone know why is that? I always thought that good earnings always produced for bullish trends.

    Thanks!

Advice concerning potential stock buybacks (WBA)

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 12:47 PM PST

Background: 100% of of my moms portfolio is in WBA, besides her IRA investments.

I'm in the process of selling my mom's WBA stocks to transition into index funds. I was hoping to sell most of this by the end of the year.

With the news that Walgreens is considering going private, I'm stuck at a crossroads.

WBA stock has gone up a few % with this news. I'm not sure if I should begin to sell chunks of the stock now while the price is high, or if I should just hold in case of a buyback. (from my understanding, companies will buy back stocks at a premium?)

I'm very new to the stock market and investing, so I'm not sure of what to make of this situation. Thanks in advance.

Good app for stock watchlist + stories, without ads?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 12:31 PM PST

Looking for an app that allows me to: - Have a watchlist - Read stories - No ads (willing to pay a flat price to remove ads)

Bonus if it has some technicals but not mandatory. I would prefer if it didn't have stock trading since I hold my stocks elsewhere now, I just want a nice tracker.

Currently trying out Seeking Alpha and Yahoo! Finance, but I want the ads gone.

How to cope with not making more money when sold a stock earlier

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 08:29 AM PST

    Hi all,

I am new to the stock market. I just got into it for about 2 months, despite that I have been very active for following financial news in the last several years (I am a student). My return has been positive since the beginning of my investment. It's right now hovering around 4%.

However, I keep thinking about the shares that I have sold that could have make more money if I am still holding on it today. My return would be like 8% if I haven't sold those shares early.

It's not that I haven't been through a loss. I have! In the first a few weeks I started trading, my return is actually -3%, and I earned it back to a positive 4%.

How do you cope with this emotions? I know that I am being extra-picky here, since I have a positive return after all.

    Thanks all!
