Can I use any font for my logo?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:11 AM PST

Going to put my logo on some shirts and sell them. I don't want to get sued by someone who wrote the font. Is it safe to use pretty much any font?

    What is good traction?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:38 PM PST

    What is good traction?

    Hey everyone,

I work at a startup that rents out fully furnished, ready-to-move-in smart homes within minutes online.

The idea is that furnishing a home sucks, and so does setting up internet and utilities. So we bundle it all up and include it in the rent.

We launched in Latin America 17 days ago. Here's a summary of our traction:

    • $10K MRR in the first 7 days. That was 10 days ago.

    • Currently at $11.6K MRR.

    • 13% WoW growth rate.

    • Profitability since day one.

Unfortunately, we've had trouble fundraising with investors, with one telling us to come back when we have $20K MRR.

    What are we missing?

Complications from creating a nonprofit associated with my business?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:45 AM PST

The business I own regularly donates a substantial sum to a nonprofit. After the donation I have no connection - literally just writing the check as many people do. The nonprofit we donate to doesn't do anything complicated in nature and I've been thinking it would be much more impactful and fulfilling if I create a nonprofit which is very similar and donate from my for profit to fund it + along with any other donations we get along the way. I'd much rather directly connect with the people I'm helping than cutting a check to an organization and hope they make the best decisions.

Are there any complications from this? I'd definitely list my for profit company on the nonprofit's website as a sponsor/major partner as we'd annually donate thousands of dollars and I'd essentially be donating profits from one company I own to a separate organization that I manage or hire someone to manage.

My business idea, need some help/input (Music Event Coordinator/Planner)

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:14 AM PST

I have an idea to book a local venue, invite an artist thats popular in order to perform, and sell tickets. What job does this fall under, is it a event promotor, or planner? Also I ran some numbers, if rapper that is demand is charging $50,000 for an appearance, and I can sell around 6000 tickets for $40 each, that is $240K leaving lots of room to cover any other charges.

Anyone have experience in this field? Let me know your opinions!

    How to Find Beta Testers?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:51 AM PST

    Hi Driven People of Reddit,

I've been living out of a self converted ProMaster in San Diego, CA for the past year while working a job (M-F) and I'm trying to make the leap into becoming a digital nomad. I created a meal prep website and if their is anyone that would be willing to help with beta testing I would appreciate it.

The website I created is @

    tablesetter.co

If anyone has advice on marketing and balancing travel with digital work, I would love to hear your thoughts.

    Thank You.

Is there an all in one podcast solution? To edit, publish & insert ads all through one platform...

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 11:20 PM PST

If not, who plans in building it???

Anchor is the a closest thing to that but the ads part is serious opportunity. As a new podcaster, you know there's a revenue generation component but don't really get the how. Whoever makes that easy gets paiiiid.

I want to start a company and have so many questions

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:33 AM PST

Okay, so I have a lot of questions as i have no effin' clue on what I'm doing. I have a name for my company and I have opened a social media account with it. I want to start a clothing company, but I dont know how to. Im in Norway if that matters.

I'm sorry if the format is messy, I'm posting from my phone.

    1. How do I proceed to get manufacturers for my designs?
    2. It is really important to me that the designs are ethically produced, how do i make sure of this?
    3. How do i know what designs i can use on my clothes? Like known figures from movies and stuff?

Basically i want to know everthing and have been googling my ass off, but it hasnt given me much.

    Birthday wish generator

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:14 AM PST

It would be a simple web application that helps you get a birthday wish from a library to send to a friend. It would show specific wishes for mother, father, sister, etc and you can copy it.

I looked in the Google Keywords tool and there are about 100K-1M monthly searches for each of these categories. This would be an MVP and I would extend it further with personalization and sharing functionality.

Let me know what you think.

Are services like Squarespace, Weebly, Wix, etc. viable options for an online business or do they just scream unprofessionalism?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:02 AM PST

I'm asking as a general question, but also as it applies to my situation. I am starting a freemium email newsletter and I need a website to allow people to signup for the premium service. I could use one of the above sites myself and be up and running in a day or two, but I'm leery of these sites because I can't recall ever having bought something from someone who built their website with them. I guess what I'm trying to decide is should I (1) build the website myself using one of the above services, (2) Pay someone to build my website using one of the above services or (3) Pay someone more to build a Wordpress website.

Accepted to Merch by Amazon - Guidance on creating effective shirt designs?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:58 AM PST

I was accepted to Merch by Amazon. Does anyone have guidance on effective designs for selling shirts? I am great in photoshop and with making good designs, but I don't know what creative path to take for maximum sales.

I'll be using targeted facebook ads.

Should I create meme-related shirts and target meme pages?

The political climate is at it hottest ever - should I create political related shirts (ie: seize the means, feel the bern, get trumped, etc) and target all sides of the spectrum with clever political related shirts?

Should I take a more serious approach with the "thin blue line" and "my rights dont end where your feelings begin" crowd?

I am allowed to have 10 published shirts at any given time currently. Just wondering if anyone has experience in any particular style when it comes to converting facebookers to buy shirts in the 15-20 USD price range.

    Question for sharing our journey

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:00 AM PST

    Greetings ~

My husband and I are starting an owner/operator Dump Truck business. I'm the paperwork half of the team and he is the driving half. I'm into social media, youtube and the virtual life. He is into the real world. There are very few blogs, vlogs, etc. on starting and living the dump trucking life. I would like to share, but not sure what would be the best medium. I don't need to make a ton of money off of it, but I would like it to put some jingle in my pocket at some point.

If you could comment on one or more of the mediums with some of the following, I'd really appreciate it

    • Pros and cons of the method
    • The method you personally prefer to consume and why
    • If you use any of these methods for other things and why you chose that medium
    • If you use any of these medias to stay informed/be entertained for other topics (for example, I am a podcast junkie)

Thanks in advance. If I missed a media type, please let me know. Also, interested in any related comments, especially on things I don't know enough to know to ask about!

    • Traditional written blog
    • Youtube vlog
    • PodCast
    • Facebook and/or MeWe page/group

    Thanks again!

Any suggestions for finding marketing consultants which specialise in software/saas?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:30 AM PST

I'm in the process of building my first software product after 10 years in the industry as a developer. I am a few months away from a low-key launch and will be focusing the entirety of next year on marketing. My main strategy as a bootstrapper will be content marketing, search engine marketing and social media marketing.

I know the tools I need and have a good understanding of online marketing as I've worked with a lot of marketers in the past and had to lend my hand in plenty of startups.

But I'm wondering where/how I would go about finding a marketer who is well-versed in software/saas marketing to potentially help shortcut my understanding through some brief consultations. Also, what kind of rate would I be looking to pay for someone who knows wtf they are talking about?

    Customer Service Platform

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 06:56 AM PST

    Hi,

I am now using the free Asana and free Hubspot in my new startup.

I am looking for a service progress feedback platform and from research, it seems both Asana and Hubspot not able to fulfill what I search for. Anyone using a customer service platform that allows the customer to monitor the progress of the job as below?

    1. Ticket# generation (Hubspot only have this)

    2. Customer can see the status of service if I update the progress of the service (free text or task format)

    3. Close of the ticket

    Thank you.

Looking for successful print-on-demand stores to research!

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:19 AM PST

Looking into the idea of print-on-demand. I wanted to look into some other successful brands that do print-on-demand well, just for "competitor" research.

    Stores with:

    A good niche

    Creative FB ads

    etc.

If anyone has any examples, I'd love to have a look! :)

Need help finding clients for a consulting business

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:21 AM PST

The consulting business focuses on training managers to become better leaders.

The goal of this company is to inform managers of the importance of retaining and growing employees, specifically Gen Z and Millennials as they are the future of the workforce.

I am trying to think of ways to help attract new clients in a creative way using various social media platforms.

So far, the only idea I have is creating a youtube channel to create videos and share them on facebook and linkedin

A Social Media Website that provides low cost advertising

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:43 AM PST

Advertising on Social Media can get very expensive. Those 'pay-per-click' ads can really ad up, and if the advertiser is not careful, can cost him at least $1,000 a day. This is a lot of money for someone to spend who is trying to start a business.

If there was a Social Media Website that provided flat-rate, and, low cost advertising, how do you think this would be received by the public?
