- Home improvements that pay for themselves?
- Anyone reached FI purely through dividends / stock investing? I have a $200k portfolio, aged 35 and need motivation. Seems like my peers are in the “fast line” buying property but my gut (and brain) tells me equities outrun property over the long-run.

Home improvements that pay for themselves? Posted: 09 Nov 2019 11:06 AM PST What are some improvements that will pay for them selves over time with lower maintenance and utility costs or increased rental income? Preferably at least 10% ROI per year. Ex. 1. Planning to put in hurricane windows for 19k. I'll save $3500 in the first year from a city rebate and tax write off because half of the property functions as rental in-law suite. After that I expect 2k per year savings from lower electric bill, lower homeowners insurance, and higher in-law suite rental income. Ex. 2. Native low maintenance, edible, no lawn landscaping. Offset by tax write off, lower lawn service cost, and fresh food. [link] [comments] |
