Value Investing Focused Research on Value-Investing: Best Information from Greenwald |
Focused Research on Value-Investing: Best Information from Greenwald Posted: 06 Oct 2019 12:04 PM PDT I see many people trying to find information and resources on the subject of value investing. It is interesting that everyone mentions the titles of books and websites. However, I have decided to lend you all the easiest method of discovering how to value these companies. Everyone says "read this book" but nobody mentions exactly where this insightful material is inside of each book or website. What is the point of this post? Focus. The most insightful part of Greenwald's material is inside of the lecture below. Focus: Search on YouTube, "Greenwald 2010 Lectures: Lecture 4" Replay it until you absolutely understand the adjustments without having to look at the lecture. This lecture makes it feel like you are literally sitting in his class. Moreover, he goes over the reasoning behind each action. I see many people claiming to be value investors but they never explain their method of adjustments. A lot of the same buying businesses that are undervalued crap. They never tell people why. The reasoning behind each adjustment is important because it will adjust your value immensely. You can go from thinking you have an undervalued business to buying an overvalued business. One little mistake can obliterate your capital. Lecture 4 is where I got most of my knowledge on this subject. Much of the other material that people give out are reiterations of the "Value investing methodology". It is the same thing over and over again about buying undervalued businesses at a low price. However, Greenwald's lectures are phenomenal. Unless you go into a value-investing class, you will not understand the full method. That is, until now. We have the lectures online for free and it is up to you to do the extra work. Regardless of the visuals on Greenwald's lectures, the commentary is astonishing. I believe our community should shift into finding the reason why for their adjustments instead of the whole "I buy undervalued businesses" lingo. I am not a guru by any means, but I do understand that a portion of the community is in search of valuable information. Valuable information that dives into the reasoning for adjustments and industry knowledge is where we should focus. Overall, the lectures inside of those classes are great but I think Lecture 4 gives the best reasoning. If anyone has additional specific information on adjusting metrics in value-investing, focused industry knowledge, or videos that are helpful for understanding certain businesses, please add them to the discussion. Best of luck to you all, Joshua Johnston [link] [comments] |
