How much should I realistically ask for when helping market an artist and also managing and doing shipments for their Etsy store?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 10:19 PM PDT

So originally we spoke and I was going to make 20% of each sale for the artwork. However, I've come to realize that although she makes the art, I will be doing 80% of the work for it to actually get sold...as well as getting her more business by marketing her.

Now we are both new to this, so she's definitely not screwing me over intentionally. I just don't think either of us really realized the extent of what I'd be required to do.

So let's say I'm doing the following:

    • Marketing the Etsy account and getting her more popularity and traction through social media.

    • Printing the artwork.

    • Getting the supplies to ship the artwork.

    • Shipping the artwork (posters for about 25 dollars each).

Pretty much what she does is create the art...and I do the rest. How much do you think I should be asking for...? Especially if I'm (excuse my bluntness, ha) essentially making her popular on Etsy, etc...?

Is it easy for an engineering grad to go into business?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 09:52 PM PDT

I'm a civil engineer and wanted to know if it's easy to work in the business field. I know that business grads can't go work in engineering but I wanted to know the other way around.

I'm in the process of starting a DJ service.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 06:06 PM PDT

I've done this before for free at my old elementary school's Halloween and Christmas dances, as well as a few family parties. Now I'm starting to get a few requests to do it at people's parties and they're all asking how much I charge.

For equipment, I'll just be using a $40 Bluetooth speaker, and my HP laptop with Windows 10. I play contemporary popular music from the Billboard Hot 100, contemporary local Hawaii music, reggae/Latin/reggaeton music, 1990-2010 hip hop/R&B music, and music featured in popular movies and video games.

All gigs will have to be booked by the quarter-hour (meaning 1:00, 1:15, 1:30, 1:45), and at least 7 days in advance. I'm gonna charge $60 for a gig that's less than 1 hour, $80 for a gig that's less than 3 hours, and $130 for a gig that's 3 hours or more.

However, my clients request me...how do I take the next step in the business? Any suggestions or books to become more efficient and know that I'm ready to take the next step...any help is greatly appreciated...and first hand stories are great too! Thank you all!

    How to handle losing customers...

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 02:59 PM PDT

Hello all, I currently manage a nail salon and one of my bi weekly customers her nails keep breaking. I have tried everything, but it honestly boils down to the product that we're using. We are in an area where the owner doesn't want to buy really good products because the prices that we charge are too low to really get our moneys worth. This customer broke one of her nails again this past Thursday and she was supposed to come in and get it fixed Friday, but she didn't come in & she told me she was going to come in Saturday to get it fixed. Saturday comes and she texts me again and says she doesn't have time Saturday and if she can come in Sunday, but that is my one day that I'm off. After I told her I wasn't going to be there, she said that she was going to go somewhere else and get it fixed and done. I apologized but I don't know what else to do. Should I compensate her next set of nails if she does come back? How do I address this situation in a professor manner without losing her as a customer.

There are so many services on there I dont know what the best strategy is. Backlink, SEO, GOOGLE PIN DROP,... I am not as edgucated with internet marketing, and I don't want to waist money and time on the wrong approach. Any advise out there for the best way to learn these strategies?
