When did this posting format take over LinkedIn? (This is really the only place for me to complain about this)

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 11:40 AM PDT

    *I don't understand what happened.

    Why all of the sudden.

Every LinkedIn post seems to have.

This really annoying format and tone.

Which tends to mostly be generic platitudes.

Is it no longer appropriate to post full paragraphs?*

Maybe I'm just being a grump, but it seems like every self-post I see on LinkedIn has this same format. "I had no idea what to expect at my first start up..." or "I hired someone without a college degree..."

I was going to post this to my LinkedIn but honestly I didn't feel like dealing with the comments of my network. I've found some value connecting to clients on LinkedIn and some interesting content posted by consulting firms, industry watchers, etc. but man it feels like there is just a flood of puff out there.

Surrogate friend service- Pay for someone to accompany you for a few hours in public settings. Platonic only.

Dog Daycare in up and coming area, there are currently no dog services around and vacant spots near public transport.

    Esports bar-Probably overdone by now.

Tutoring center K12- Many children in the area and no tutoring services in the area.

Not sure how to go about starting these but I don't want to waste time if none of them seem profitable.

I feel like I'm wasting time and resources investing. I think I can do better by taking a public speaking class and starting a "tech" company.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 06:55 PM PDT

I'm witnessing all of these crappy "tech" companies getting billions in funding off of ideas and business models that my 9 year old daughter can come up with. Wag (a dog walking company) got $300m in funding, Wework (a real estate company pretending to be tech) once was valued at $47b, Theranos got $10b without having an actual product etc. I

What I'm noticing is that in the world of investment funding the old adage that "talk is cheap" isn't true. In fact, talking can get you billions in funding. What all those crappy, scammy, companies above had in common were charismatic CEOs who knew how to grab attention with their words. Adam Neumann was the best of the them. Yesterday I watched an interview he did a few months ago, and despite knowing that Wework is basically a scam and Adam is full of shit, I still felt inspired and moved by the way Adam was explaining things. I almost wanted all the bad stories about him and the company to be lies! I finally understood how he made one of the oldest businesses in world history (landlording) seem like the wave of the future.

I'm starting to think I'm wasting my time investing. I feel like I can do better by taking a public speaking class and starting a tech company. It doesn't matter what the service is, as long as it has an app I can use the talking skills I've learned to get a VC firm or IB to fund me 9 figures. Once the company gets a nice valuation, I'll start acting erratically so that I can get removed as CEO which will then give me an excuse to cash out.

    What do you think?

My dad has a manufacturing business in Delhi (NCR), India and he usually sells to a well known company which I don’t think I should name. About a couple days back, the company informed my Dad that they would be cutting the prices more than 50%. Can I get some advice to help him?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 12:05 PM PDT

I talked to my Dad and he's going to their office next week to have a talk. From what I've heard they've had major changes in terms of departmental heads or something like that. It could be a legitimate price cut or just the purchase head trying to get an under the table commission. Either way, it's really taking a toll on the business. I would appreciate any advice.

Reverse Engineering a mobile application / Making a "lite" version of popular apps

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 12:02 PM PDT

Hello my question is two fold:

1st Question: How had is it to reverse engineer an app compared to starting from scratch? For instance if you wanted to emulate:

    Game: Mario Kart

    Business App: LinkedIn

    Functionality: Calculate

    Social Media: Pintrest, Twitter

Would it be easier to start from scratch while doing this? Or if you brought the APK to the developer would it be easier to reverse engineer it? If it is easier how big is the gap? (I understand it could possibly be case by case)

Second Question: How is it not illegal to make a "lite" version of a popular app like Facebook? There are countless examples of Lite versions of apps. Usually social media related. These apps offer lighter less data and CPU heavy versions of the app that do wonders for battery life and functionality.

Are these type of apps illegal technically, but nobody bothers to pursue? Or is it legal to make this type of "lite" version of a popular app ?

    My business idea

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 01:04 PM PDT

Have you guys noticed that : eating out is very difficult and expensive.

    In an area, typically,

You find few outlets selling pizza or burger, you find a restaurant in which meals are quite expensive, and that's it.

Here you have : only few foods, and they are expensive

    You can eat almost nothing,

    Eating out is nearly impossible

    Do you guys see ?

    This model is very inefficient

    Something important is missing

It is : a restaurant where food keeps changing, chefs also rotate

This restaurant is going to serve thousands of foods over the course of time

A meal is going to be cheap

You will be able to eat thousands of foods

Eating out will finally become possible

    This model is way better
