    DO NOT GIVE UP

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 12:21 PM PDT

I started an atm business September of last year, after purchasing atm, courses, and business license I was ready to go but didn't anticipate finding a place for the atm would be nearly impossible, who would've thought LA saturated ? Am I right ?

I placed my atm up for sale, after doing door knocks and cold calls after months I gave up. I sold the atm and that person came to pick up today, then I randomly get a message from a business owner asking if I was still looking to place my atm and that he was interested in placing one in his business. Imagine the feeling, I was super gutted after months of trying and waiting the moment finally came but it was a day too late. In conclusion, don't make the same mistake I did, trust the process and don't become inpatient everything will fall into place given it's time, no matter how cliche it sounds there's truth behind each and every one of those words.

TLDR; tried to place atm, I couldn't, gave up, sold it while simultaneously receiving an offer to place it

Small Business. My credit card processor charged me $1.00 instead of $0.10 per credit card transaction and refuses to refund.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 08:02 PM PDT

What sort of federal and CA state agencies can I report to about this? The difference has cost my business thousands of dollars. I'm aware there are options to litigate. I'm specifically asking if there are complaints I can file with state and federal agencies before going to court.

Need advice on how to bring in business - Hookah Lounge South Florida -

    Posted: 05 Aug 2019 01:54 AM PDT

So I've spent the last couple of days talking to a friend of mine about his hookah lounge in south Florida.

Unfortunately, due to personal complications, among other things, the business has been abnormally slow due to various factors.

Things like ads and promotions are in the works but I wanted to hop on here and see if I could get some ideas and advice on how to hook new customers and how to keep them coming back.

Now, I've been to quite a few hookah lounges and they tend to usually be a bit more aimed for 18-20-year-olds. You know the scene, flashing lights, obnoxiously loud music, teens just being teens.

This place, however, is nice and chill. A little better for people 25-30 who don't care for the bar scene but want a cool place to come and chill after work and into the night (2-5am depending on customer flow) for those of us that work later shifts, like me.

So, for those of you Redditors out there who enjoy these types lounges, what are things that would hook you in and keep you coming back?

A friendly staff is already taken care of. Seriously, the two main staff members are wonderful. But what about anything else?

Lighting tips? Music styles? Wall art? Promotions? Entertainment like game consoles seem to be pretty common.

Any other tips on how to just get the word out there

Any and all tips are appreciated, thank you :)

Also, I apologize in advance for my horrid formatting

ALERT: Roku TV Advertising Available $50 Per Month

My product is being ripped off and I’m unsure what to do

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 08:20 PM PDT

    Hi guys!

I sell a luxury fashion product.

It's recently been worn by some influential names which has brought some good traction, however, I've just discovered that someone is ripping off my product and selling it on Etsy at 1/4 of the price.

I personally make each piece by hand and it takes me 2 days per item.

I'm not making a tonne of sales due to the higher price point (which is justified in the cost of production), so it's frustrating to see someone making that money off my designs at such a low quality knockoff.

Should I approach them to stop? Or should I not worry about it as my brand is much more reputable?

I super appreciate any help where I can get some.

    Party Rental Advice

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 07:02 PM PDT

I am looking into starting up a party rental company. I'm trying to decide which party rental supplies to invest the bulk of my startup money into. To minimize overhead, I'm avoiding investing in anything that would require something like a cargo van to haul and deliver, so that rules out things like tables and chairs which people typically need a lot of. Some things I've been considering starting out with include: tents, concessions (popcorn machine, slushie machine, etc.), games (dunk tank, cash cube, lawn games, etc.). If you have experience with this (or even if you don't, but have some suggestions to offer) and can help point me in the right direction for the best types of rentals to invest in, I would appreciate it!

    High school dropout business ideas

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 12:59 PM PDT

I'm 18 years old. I work full time in construction and run a pressure washing business on the side. I dropped out of school very young. I read a lot about business and financial independence. My pressure washing business is slowly but surely generating more income, however local services aren't my end goal in businesses, I see it as more of a stepping stone. I'd like to eventually start a business with more potential for growth. If I had graduated high school and went to university I would be able to start a tax law firm or something like that. I have a lot of interest in these types of things. I have a few different ideas for businesses that a dropout like me could start and I was looking for some opinions. Are these businesses ideal for a dropout? Are they in high demand and do they have high growth potential?

    1: Business consultant

I figured that if i run a small business of my own and I learn the ins and outs of running a small service business locally that I could use my knowledge (once I have more expensive) to advise other people starting these types of businesses. Is this a good idea?

    2: PPC/SEO management

I have a decent knowledge is basic SEO and PCC for small businesses, could this be turned into a profitable business once ive mastered them?

    3: Hotel owner/restaurant owner

I LOVE hotels and I think that creating an amazing experience for people in a hotel setting is a potential passion for me. I feel like restaurants are also something I would really enjoy looking into despite the many challenges they come with.

    Wondering about Chat Bots...

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 08:26 PM PDT

Recently I've been developing a Chat Bot for the company I work for. It's been a lot of fun, and I feel like it's a valuable service to provide to a company. So, I wanted to see if you guys had any experience with Chat Bots, and if they've been helpful for your business?

There are a few non-coding platforms to create bots with and so I figured it could be easy enough to make one without even paying someone.

Would love to hear any thoughts on the matter!

Need advice on starting a transportation company in South Texas

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 07:05 PM PDT

Currently I do not have an LLC setup and my credit isn't the best. But I do have a low millage truck that will pull anything I need it to. So I am torn in between saving up and buying a trailer cash or financing one with my current credit score of 640. I can co-sign with my wife but I would like to avoid that option. Would lowering my debt to income ratio and then applying for a loan be better than just saving up and buying a used one?

Sorry if there is any confusion by my post so please let me know of any questions.

    Veteran

    640 credit score

    no LLC at the moment

The goal is to transport for the oilfield and in and around Texas

Rental Business - How Do Customers Put Down A Deposit?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 10:24 PM PDT

I have a couple of power generators that I'd like to rent out to people. I have Stripe, Paypal, and Square setups, but I'm a bit confused on how to set a deposit system through those applications. My first guess would be to run the person's credit/debit card as a deposit, refund the deposit once they return the machine, then charge their credit/debit a second time for the amount of X hours/days/weeks they rented it for. I'd also like to print invoices, and use mobile credit card swipe hardware for this kind of business.

    Using Data

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 02:45 PM PDT

I'm opening up a pizza restaurant with my cousin in the next 3 months. We are in the process of making a website and creating social media profiles. I've heard quite a bit about businesses becoming more "data-driven" and have never paid much attention. However, I recently have been giving it more thought. I've searched around and have found some pretty expensive data analysis companies. What affordable softwares/services have you had experience with that really help you do data analysis? I'm not very technical but am willing to learn.

    Would you pay for this?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 08:37 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I just started a company called JBS that creates software to help manage employees and create schedules. It's an online platform that can automatically schedule employees and send them their shifts for the week. Employees can also request time off and update their availability on this platform.

As I've only just launched this company, I'm really just looking for some feedback on this business concept.

Do you think this is a good idea?

Would you use something like this in your own business?

Do you currently use any scheduling software in your business?

The target business JBS would serve is something like a restaurant, retail store, or anywhere else that employs a large number of employees working shifts.

Any and all feedback on this business is greatly appreciated! You can check out our website here if you want to learn some more of the details. We aren't actually taking signups at the moment but you can try out a demo of the schedule builder if you like. https://jbsystems.org

I may have reached a turning point, but I need guidance.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 08:31 PM PDT

I have worked in retail since I was 16. I'm a very hard worker, always respected and a good leader. Nearly all of my jobs have put me in actual selling situations and from that I've become a very good, and honest salesperson. I do well to maximize profitability as well as customer satisfaction. This all sounds great doesn't it? Sure. But, the company I've invested my full time employment since 2012, finally boned me again.

The short version is I've been through 3 or 4 reorganization, started over in leadership two of those times, finally got repromoted and showed immediate tangible success—and they eliminated my position again. I'm exhausted. I feel disrespected, because my manager laterally moved a failing supervisor from another department to the spot that I was more qualified for.. but I'm not here to whine so much as seek counsel.

I want out. I want out hard, and I want to go my own way, and it's always been a dream of mine to operate a small business and I am currently staring down the barrel of a 10k severance before taxes, and just under 4000 in savings.

I have no trade skills, but I am great with technology, troubleshooting, set up, etc. I am very good with people, particularly in a sales situation. I have relatively low monthly debt (barely 1000/mo)

How do I even come up with an idea? My fear is I'm going to arbitrarily set out on a path and fail. I think I'm clever enough that so long as I don't go for the wrong thing, I can make it, but I do not know any small business owners for mentorship or to talk me out of it.

I'm ready and willing to bust my own hump, but I'm tired of being at the mercy of others men.

TL;DR: demoted in a reorg, looking for a good starting point to begin a solo business venture. Not sure how one decides a path to take.

Edit: if it helps, I was previously making around 19 an hour, and it looks like I'll be dropped to around 16. Realistically, what are the odds someone is able to replace income like that?

Years back I registered my home business with Google to have it listed on Maps. For some reason my business location and other personal information are on YellowPages (Online). I have never used them before and it was added there on its own. How do you go about removing this from their site?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 04:31 AM PDT

Long story short, I no longer operate my business anymore and I am wondering how my information was posted on there with no easy way to remove it from YellowPages. Has anyone experienced this before?

    HR for cleaning company

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 05:51 PM PDT

Hello! I work very part time for the owner of a cleaning company handling HR related things and Marketing. I also work a full time job, and I'm finding that there is far too much that needs to be accomplished for the cleaning company during regular business hours. I don't feel I have the time to devote to posting jobs, screening and communicating with candidates, posting and creating marketing material, following up with candidates to get them on board, etc. What I'm hoping to find is an HR Management company out there that specializes in small businesses and is willing to work closely with the owner. I want to transition the HR role over to a management company that will take care of and have more time to devote to HR duties. Any recommendations are very welcome!

Any books about how to execute really well? Brainstorm > Planning > Execution.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 05:02 PM PDT

I been thinking its very important to be able to do things really solidly, like building a wooden patio deck requires proper execution. There has to be good brainstorming of potential problems, making a plan to ensure there are no problems, and executing the plan.

Are there any businesses books about how to build the right processes to execute properly

    • Drill down or filter by customer
    • ability to set a target capacity
    • ability to set a day rate and be able to toggle between person-days and $$

Looking for business partner. Graphic design agency.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 03:25 PM PDT

Hello. I am looking for a business partner to promote my graphic design business in exchange for part of the profit. If you find a client which I will work for next year or more, you will receive your percentage every time the client buys. You can generate some decent passive income this way. I was doing all the marketing and sells but I would like to scale my business. I worked on my design skills for the last 9 years. I design logos, visual identity and websites. I work for small and medium companies. I've done a lot of client work but my marketing strategy is still unpredictable. If you like the idea and have an experience in selling and promoting this kind of business let me know.

Charging sales tax on waved installation service and products?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 10:10 AM PDT

To help drum up business and get the word out, we are thinking of waving certain fees for our installation, and even some of the products that would be add-ons for new customers. I am confused about whether or not these are still taxed. If we sell a product and wave the installation or product which is a normal taxable item, do we still charge the customer the tax for the items sold, or if we wave it are we then to pay the sales tax for the customer? Also, do we get to write-off this 'loss' of income? In Oklahoma.
