Certified mail from Sallie Mae but no Sallie Mae loans? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:15 PM PDT I had Sallie Mae loans in the past, but they all ended up being serviced by Navient, including my private loans. The private loans were paid off last year. Today at my former home in another state, I received a notice from USPS that Sallie Mae is trying to send me certified mail. Navient does not have that address on file, so it's not from them. I tried logging in to Sallie Mae, and their site says I don't have an account under my SSN. Scam? What else could it be? Why would a scammer pay money to send me certified mail though? Graduation in the fall, Money in the spring? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 09:06 PM PDT So I'm graduating this fall with a bachelors, however I'm really close to getting another associates degree. Will I still get my aide for the spring even though I get my bachelors this fall? I get the Pell, SEOG, CAP, and both the Sub and Unsub loans. However I haven't accepted either loan because of this question. Thank you. Another question, would I be eligible for a refund as well and do I still have to redo my FAFSA? Thank you! Posted: 25 Aug 2019 05:08 AM PDT Hi, so I am a little late on repaying my student loan payment for the month. It is due on the 11th and I was planning on paying it when I got paid on the 29th. I called Wells Fargo to let them know and the person on the phone said that they would make the note on my profile and that I can submit the online payment on the 29th. Now I just got a notification that Wells Fargo just reported me as 30 days late on the repayment but it has only been 14.. I did not pay less than the required amount from the previous month, so I am very confused. Is there anything I can do to get this fixed? I tried calling them now, but they are closed on Sunday. Is this even legal? The idea that they can just hurt my credit score when they feel like is concerning, I understand that I am late by 14 days, but reporting it as 30 days past due sounds completely dishonest. Posted: 25 Aug 2019 05:11 PM PDT I graduated last year with Sallie Mae loans at 10-11% as well as Federal Loans. About 6 months after graduation refinanced with SoFi down to 6% and was very happy. Tonight, after recent rate drops and lots of shopping around, I refinanced once again with Earnest this time down to 4.51% at a custom payout period (8 years 9 months) to keep my payment the same! Extremely happy and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Earnest they'd like to share? Seems like a great time to look at some rates! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 06:53 PM PDT Looking for some advice.. I've been on the Income Driven Plan for a little over a year, with a monthly required payment of $0 because I was unemployed at the time. I'm now employed, have been for about three months, and submitted a picture of my pay stub after my first month of work because I thought that's what I was told to do when I talked to someone from Navient right before I switched to the IDP. A week after I submitted the pay stub, I got an e-mail saying they couldn't process it because I guess I forgot an application or something as well? I'm pretty sure I clicked on somewhere in my account that I wanted to update my income, so my monthly payment would change so I could start paying again (or can I still pay without changing anything?). Should I look again and send the info in again along with a form (I'm assuming stating which plan I want?) OR is it ok to stay on this Income Driven plan? I know I have to submit a new application each year because the plan is good for 1 year, so I'd be doing that in January. I was paying around $350 before I switched to IDP, but I'm not 100% sure how stable my income is at the moment so I don't want to mess anything up... Thanks in advance!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 09:47 AM PDT Does anyone have any experience refinancing their student loans through Earnest? I'd like to know how your experience has been if you have refinanced through them and if you would recommend them. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Can I Take Over My Student Loan? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:37 AM PDT As a disclaimer, there will be probably be holes in this story. If I need more information I'll try my best to get it. Trying to do the right thing, my in-laws put my wife and her sisters student loans in their names. They are unable to pay it back and have asked us to pay our portion of it which we are happy to do so. However our portion is significantly larger than her sisters and since all the loans are together our payments are bring distributed amongst all the loans and not just ours. This is put us paying on this loan for much much longer than we want to. Is there a way to have the loan transferred to my wife's name since it was for her education? Or what are some options we can consider? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 12:18 PM PDT My loans are through FedLoan. My monthly payment is $288.02. Recently my living situation has changed and I am saving a lot more money. I want to start being more aggressive with paying these loans off. My question is, If I pay off one of my loans in full today ($508) would I still be responsible for the $288.02 that's due on the 28th of every month. TIA. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:50 PM PDT Hey, I am 21 years old, currently live in England and I am looking for some financial help regarding funding for my studies. I have completed a first year at a University and dropped out in the middle of the second year due to the fact that I have realised it was not for me. I have been awarded full Student Finance for both tuition and maintenance for those years. Now I have applied for new finance as I want to start a new course but Student finance will not provide me a loan for the tuition for the first year. I have been awarded a maintenance loan for this year (new uni). I have also called my bank and talked to them about getting a 9,000 pound loan but they have informed me that it is unlikely that I would get it. I am just looking for general help to see if there are any other places I could get some funding or a place to get a loan. If you need any more information I will be more than happy to provide. Grad plus loans and then I feel like I need more.. Posted: 25 Aug 2019 09:41 AM PDT Got accepted to PA school, I thought that was supposed to be the hard part. Well, what seems even harder is finances, my son still needs daycare and extra expenses. I don't think I will get enough through the grad plus loans, is this where I consider a private student loan? It's like hell trying to find a cosigner and wife is "iffy". What options ideas do you guys have? [link] [comments] |
Could I get advice on taking out loans for living? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 10:43 AM PDT I have covered all the costs of courses, textbooks, and items needed for my education. I had planned to also work through the whole thing. However, I am realizing the time required to succeed is far greater than I initially thought. I am considering getting loans to cover my rent/food/bills while I finish my program over the next two years. My cost of living is already very low. I could do the next two years, accounting for sudden and unexpected vehicle maintenance fees, for around 20k-30k. I expect to make 40-60k in my field, at worst would be 30ish if I wasn't able to get into a hospital position right away and didn't get full hours, but instead an outpatient with part time. I know very little about student loans. What kind of loans could I take out to cover this? Loans are always spoken about in such a startling way, but my needs seem low compared to others so i wonder if maybe my situation can not be so bad. I feel like being in the medical field I am very likely to land a position and be able to begin paying pretty quickly. Do loans typically have restrictions on what they can be used for? Will I be allowed to use them on rent and so on? How long do loans take to distribute? Do I get it all at once or take out more and more over the next two years? Thank you for your time, its super valuable in answering my probably basic questions. Your time is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:22 AM PDT Hi, I would like to go to university when I'm older and hope to get a PhD in the field of Physics. I'm wondering if student loans are enough to pay for hobbies and car maintenance on top of the essentials. I don't plan on partying or drinking alcohol or smoking or anything similar. Would the loan be enough or would I have to have a secondary form of income. I'm in the UK if that makes a difference. Thx [link] [comments] |
Student grad vs unsubsidized loans Posted: 25 Aug 2019 09:38 AM PDT Hi all, I have the option between choosing either or having a combination of both to fund my tuition. I'm going through each loan agreements, but I wanted to ask Reddit what were there thoughts and experiences with these loans and what you recommend my approach to be? [link] [comments] |
