Is this a legit business? Boss is trying to put me on the business license? Posted: 06 Aug 2019 11:51 PM PDT So I started a new job for a new e-commerce company location . The district manager told me that it was a new office they are setting up and I would be managing it. After 3 months of training I'd be running the fulfillment center myself and he would be leaving. My first day I moved in lots of inventory and set up shelves etc, no red flags so far. The second day he tells me they need a business license from the village and asks me to go set it up. He gives me the cash to apply and fills out an application. He starts filling it out and puts my name on the business license. He used my name, my address, my telephone number and the company name which is apparently different for each location. My initial reaction when I realized what was going on was won't I be held responsible for this business, taxes, fines, etc. he explains he is moving on in 3 months and he can't put his name on it but only the company is responsible. I said okay and signed it and started driving to the village because I wanted to ask the person who worked in the office how much responsibility I would take on. When I look at the application I am the only person on it. It has my name for owner of business and I find that sketchy. The man reaffirms my thoughts and says he wouldn't put his name on something that isn't his business. I went back and told him the man advised me not to put my name on it and I wasn't comfortable. He said it was no big deal he would put his name on it but I needed to be listed as an emergency contact at least since I would be managing. Am I overreacting? I am just looking for a job to save up for my wedding and learn a little about e-commerce. I'm certainly not trying to start someone else's business in my name. Looking at it the other way Why would someone put their business in my name that just met me? I don't care how trustworthy I look it's weird. If I had done this would I be on the hook for taxes and fines or god forbid illegal activity going on? How weird and/or sketchy is this? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 06 Aug 2019 10:12 PM PDT I'm currently working part time at this place I love. The problem is it's part time and they don't have many full time roles. They started me on a job that is a busy work job for my higher up but it pays well. Since my job has most of its success in the spring and summer and I won't be needed as much I thought I needed to do somthing. I ended up created a computer software to make my job much easier. Moving forward I'm not sure how to approach this matter. I'm hoping to explain what my program does and how it makes the busy work job much easier quicker and enjoyable. They spend roughly 100k a year on this boring part of the job. i want to pitch my program in hopes to get some sort of full time job but I'm not sure how to approach this. [link] [comments] |

Struggling to write my profile bio for my new business website Posted: 07 Aug 2019 12:39 AM PDT Hello all. I have set up a local community project that is a business because i have some passionate views. I am an activist that is runing a local project helping provide people tools to empower themselves on the ground. My work is very on the ground and not very visible and thats how i like it. I dont like discussing my opinions to be honest, i like the work to define me. However, I am writing my profile on my business website and i have a dilemma I have two degrees in politics and i didnt pursue it because i got them quite young and realized later how corrupt it is so went straight into community work. Thing is if i mention my degrees and i think i should, wouldnt it then follow that i would need to mention the reason i didnt pursue a career field in that area? That then gets me in the trap of sharing personal opinions with the world that i genuinely dont know if i want to. Sure i have no problem with my views but it feels like having that up there is less about me and more about needing to explain myself to others. In the past people have used my lowkey personality and relaxed nature in not caring to define myself to others to undermine me and whilst my ego has been bruised i dont think its healthy to use that as a motivation to write my bio from a specific approach. My business is about empowering the poor and isolated so it takes a stance just not sure whether to write a standard 2-3 line professional bio or a more personal one that clearly reads "activist". The latter just feels ego driven to me even though all it is, is sharing my story. Im not used to talking about myself and i dont say to compliment myself, it gives me genuine anxiety. Because my business has a social aim maybe a personal story would help draw a connection to my target customers. I genuinely dont know. Not sure if anyone will relate or have feedback but if you do thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
