Tax credits, grants, and money-saving knowledge Posted: 10 Jul 2019 08:49 PM PDT Our bootstrapped SaaS is in the process of applying for the R&D tax credit. It should save us tens of thousands every year. It seems it would apply to most software and product companies in the US, yet it seems so few know about it. What tax credits, grants or other things do you all do to maximize your profit? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 Jul 2019 01:08 PM PDT Here's the email exchange: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Me: Hei *REDACTED*! Greetings and a warm welcome from beautiful *REDACTED*. How is the summer in *REDACTED*? I'm cleaning up some personal metrics and goals. For the sake of assessing my personal wealth, could you please tell me* What was the valuation of the last round?* How many shares are in the fully dilluted share capital of *REDACTED*?* What are the current liquidation preferences? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Me: Haven't heard anything for many weeks about this. please do respond ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Him: Hi *REDACTED*,Please find the answers to your questions below:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Me: Thank you for the responsesAbout the FDS - i'm well aware that the FDS can and will change throughout the time. However, as a VC backed firm, *REDACTED* surely has the CAP table calculated, and hence, the FDS as well. What I'm interested in is, what the FDS is right now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Him: Thanks *REDACTED* for your note. Please refer to the answer I've already provided. Hope you enjoy your summer! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Me: I'm making a legal request as a minority shareholder to know the fully dilluted share capital, or the % of the shares I'm currently owning of the fully dilluted share capital. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Him: To be clear *REDACTED*, you have no legal right to this information and I don't appreciate the tone of your note. That said, in the spirit of our relationship, I will provide you with an approximation of your % ownership once you sign our NDA (linked here). Once I send over this information, I will consider your questions done/answered and expect you to abide by keeping it confidential. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have signed plenty of NDA-s while I was working there, so it seems odd to me that he wants me to sign NDA again just to receive this information. I would assume there is some law to protect the interest of minority shareholder and allow access to information regarding the value of the stock. The company is based in Delaware. Is this standard practice? What would you do in this situation? [link] [comments] |
Did you get an employee welcome kit? Posted: 10 Jul 2019 05:28 AM PDT Some companies offer welcome kits for new hires. What do you think is obligatory for any welcome kit, and what is "nice to have"? For example, a notebook or a t-shirt could be obligatory, and sticker pack or branded mug — just an option. Did you get any employee welcome kit? [link] [comments] |
Missing pieces, could use advice. Posted: 10 Jul 2019 10:36 AM PDT Hi there, I have the ability to produce the Product, im actually pretty deep in development. I have a team, I have the equipment....... what i don't have is any business sense or capital. I spent my life learning how to make the thing, not play the politics required of in business, and honestly I don't think I'm capable of it. I honestly dont even know the basics of setting up the company on an official level. I have realized that if i keep up my pace, I am going to have a finished marketable product, and no way to sell it. Honestly i know i need to raise funds to keep production going, and to entice new members to join the team. Im not sociable, Im an autistic Idiot who knows how to make things pretty. Where do i go to find a Businessman, I know its funny to say it like that, but honestly its a field unto itself, and i need one... I Know what im doing on my end, but i need help to navigate the perils of capitalism. I want to take my project somewhere it can get some sort of financial backing. I hear terms about pitches and get confused, I just want to make toys. I have a rough pitch and decent amount of materials, im just looking to see what i can do before i get too far ahead.
