    Today on stupid

Emailed internally our cost for certain products. Mistakenly CC in one of our re-sellers, now they have access to about 145 lines of products as well as the added margin for each. Tried to recall email only to discover ( on a reedit post) that it only highlights to the receiver you want to recalling the email there by making them more curious and looking into it.

    Hunter vs Farmer

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 08:18 AM PDT

Hello all! I just got promoted a few months ago to an outside sales role that really requires a "hunter" personality but I have found out that I am not really a hunter type sales person. If anything, I'd say I am a hybrid version of the two since I don't mind doing occasional cold calls but I really enjoy nurturing the relationships I have. So my question is: can I ask for my old account manager (inside sales) job back? My sales numbers aren't great in my new role but I crushed it as an inside person.

What's your strategy to get people to respond to your voice message or email?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 06:27 AM PDT

This month I'm having such a difficult time. I've been calling and emailing prospects for weeks, every other day and no one responds. At the end of the day, just tell me "not interested" or "no thanks" so I can mentally move on. SO what's your strategy? How do you get people to respond? Any fancy subject lines? Anything you put in the body of emails or do you say something that gets people to call you back? I work in B2B software. I won't disclose more because my coworkers also use this...

    Commission only job offers

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 07:14 AM PDT

    Hey everyone,

Tried to search this on the mobile app but was not having any luck finding it, so I apologize if this has been talked to death.

Background: Currently employed with a plumbing company that offers water restoration with a base salary of $25k a year with commissioned bonus at 5-7% on what I sell. Average job around $4k with my self selling around $750k a year. Work has been slowing down dramatically and I'm trying to move on. This is my first strictly sales job and have been here for 3 years now.

Advice needed: A lot of jobs that I am I applying to and getting an actual response from seem to be salary "only" jobs. Right of the bat I am saying to myself they are pyramid schemes or just flat out to risky. Should I try to actually commit to one of these type of jobs that sound promising?(I try and research the company with Glassdoor but still feel iffy) I really want to get out my current field as I'm not making the money I once was and the hours are insane (some weeks 70+). Really want to make the switch to B2B not B2C. As of right now with no degree just 3years experience my options feel very limited and the past two months of applying to places have made me feel that I may never get hired some where else.

    Thanks

Has anyone got experience using Salesloft in the UK?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 08:44 AM PDT

Has anyone had experience using Saleloft's dialler in the UK? I understand the dialler works exceptionally well in the U.S but want to know how well it works in the UK.

I know they use Twilio which is hosted in the U.S. I just want to ensure there is no lag or if there is any it needs to manageable.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks all!

Just got hired as sales at a startup....currently stressed out

    Posted: 10 Jun 2019 09:12 PM PDT

    Hey,

I got hired on at a startup that makes apps. It's not a development company, we are actually offering a product. It's fairly new and have a good number of clients onboard already. I'm having a hard time dialing down what I should focus my time on. I've made cold calls, started running facebooks and other outreach methods. Ofocurse the main challenges startups have is that there aren't any established methods already, I'm wondering if you guys ha e any advice on where I should be focusing my attention to get the most leads and close them.

    Thanks

Anyone worked at White Pages Pro? Any other good tech SaaS companies in Seattle?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 10:54 AM PDT

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has experience working with Whitepages Pro? They sell identity verification solutions (to prevent fraud), and have an office in Seattle, which is the (greater) area I live in and am interested in working in.

I'm curious how their pay is (base and what their comp structure is like? I'm also very curious about their training?

They have two open AE positions right now, an inside sales which appears to still be a closing per the posting, and a Mid-Market role, which I'm guessing is more "outside sales" although it doesn't say that specifically. It says they want 1 year of outside sales, or 2 years of inside sales, for the Mid-Market AE role, along with experience selling SaaS or tech, or personal presence that shows and exhibits a likelihood of success in same.

If anyone has any info on them and would be willing to share, I'd greatly appreciate it!

(Additionally, I'd also appreciate any other leads on junior-level/entry-ish level B2B positions at Seattle/Tacoma SaaS companies.)

What prepped you best for the sales career ?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 03:07 AM PDT

If you look back at how you started your sales career, what taught and prepared you the most for this profession? Or rephrased: what are some of the best ways to learn skills valuable to the sales profession?

I was thinking that public speaking classes, books sales, interview tutoring, freelancing (you learn prospecting and selling yourself) are all helpful learning resources. What are yours?

Sales jobs in the 200k-300k range?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2019 05:21 PM PDT

I've heard/read that there are jobs out there that pay 200-300k to enterprise level AE's in the tech/software space. Is anyone on this sub pulling down that type of income? If so, do you mind sharing how you got there?

In this old reddit post (stickied in this sub's 'best of' thread), a user makes mention of a YouTube video that he strongly recommends for new salespeople. The link is broken. Might anyone know the title?

Successful salespeople must be confident in themselves. In addition to that, read How to Win Friends and Influence People, The Millionaire Next Door...

    Later in the thread comments...

I know it was a while back but the link for that video no longer works. Could you tell me what it lead to?

Tips on how to succeed as BDR in an Alliances team?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 04:15 AM PDT

Next month, I'll be starting in a new role as BDR at an Enterprise Software provider, where I'll work in the Global Alliances team. I have 2 years of Sales experience and have a good understanding of and track record with prospecting, negotiating, closing and managing customer relationships.

It's clear to me what is expected of a BDR and I know that my main objective will be to generate and qualify leads in collaboration with Global System Integrators (GSIs) like Accenture, Wipro, Capgemini, etc. within the EMEA region.

The role consists of both outbound and inbound prospecting. My future manager told me an important part of the job will be to establish relationships with the Account teams at the GSIs, as well as being a trusted-advisor when it comes to helping their customers with our solutions.

I was wondering if any of you have experience with a role like this and if you could give me a better idea of what I can expect from the day-to-day activities. Any tips or advice on how to succeed would be much appreciated as well!

Breaking the Ice between Sales and Marketing

    Posted: 10 Jun 2019 10:03 PM PDT

One of the most common complaints from the sales team is that the marketing team never gives them a quality lead and from the marketing team is that the sales team doesn't have any respect for the work they do. Both have a need to deal with their potential customers but both never align.

While this is very usual in top enterprises, it is also very common in small emerging companies too. I have seen how people start pointing fingers the moment something fails to meet their expectations. Many have spoken about this issue and there are a lot of blogs and articles written about this. Adding to it, here is the list of the activities, which I feel, can bring the sales and marketing a lot closer and ideally, work as one unit.

What are the other things you do at your workplace? Please add to the list.

I have a few good offers for the position "Sales Manager", but I have one little problem, I don't have a Driving Licence. Is that a big deal?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2019 03:43 AM PDT

My main target is the German speaking (DACH region) market. But my company is located abroad. I have years of experience as an Inside Sales Manager and I basically did not have to travel a lot and most of the time I would succesfully carry my job at the Office or Home.

Now I have a few interesting offers for the position of a IT Sales Manager and it would require to travel abroad for meetings. I have not mentioned yet that I don't have a driving licence.

Is that a big deal? Does anybody have some experience or does anybody work as an sales manager without a driving licence?
