Insurance company doesn’t believe I hit a deer? Insurance

Insurance company doesn’t believe I hit a deer?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 04:01 PM PDT

The title is pretty self explanatory but a few days ago my husband I were driving to a wedding on a back country road and he hit a deer. He was only going approximately 15-20mph so the damage to the car was not severe, but the headlight was smashed in and the bumper partially torn. We waited until the next morning, and then filed an insurance claim, submitted pictures of the car, etc.

Now today my insurance company reported to me that the photos of my car don't seem consistent with an animal collision and that are calling in a physical damage specialist to look at the pictures/statement.

How can I further prove to my insurance company that I hit a deer? Will they deny my claim if the physical damage specialist also thinks the accident isn't consistent with animal collision?

    Thanks!

How to request to be taken off of parents insurance?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2019 12:48 AM PDT

I have been using my state (WA) insurance for many years, and recently have been denied coverage because it was found out that I'm on my bio dads insurance plan. I have never had any contact with him, have no idea where he lives (only know the state) or how to contact him. I've called bcbs (in CA) and requested to be taken off of it, but they said that only the primary holder could request I be taken off. Is there a way I can fight this or a certain place I should call?

Went to doctor for some tests on last day of April, before health coverage ended. Lab received samples on May 1st. Bill not covered by health insurance. Who is in the wrong?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 09:48 PM PDT

    Northern Virginia resident here,

As the title says, I went to the clinic before my health insurance was terminated (was temporarily in between jobs, didn't bother to sign up for COBRA). Clinic said I should get some blood work done and reassured me that it would be covered by my health insurance. Well, the date of service on the lab results say May 1st, but the collection and received dates for the specimens are dated evening of April 30th, same day I got the blood drawn (to me, that is the date of service). I appealed this claim (over $700) through my health insurance company's website, but their response was that they "cannot alter or change any coding elements submitted by a medical provider", and that I would need to contact said provider (LabCorp) directly, as "a new claim would need to be received, . . . if services were rendered prior to May 1st."I called LabCorp and asked if they could do anything, but they refused to backdate; that would be on my insurance company. And now I'm back to where I started the appeal process.

So am I in the wrong for getting these tests done on the last day of my health insurance? Is my doctor/clinic wrong for assuring me that I'd be covered? Do I have any grounds for a lawsuit here? If so, would it even be worth the $700, or should I just bite the bullet and pay? Thanks in advance.

Auto Insurance Claim of Policy Limits question.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2019 12:44 AM PDT

Hello guys, so I was involved in a car accident a few months ago and I was at fault. Today I just received a letter from my insurance company notifying me that they "received a demand for the amount of [my] policy limits". Does this mean that the other party is demanding the amount of money that is up to the limit of my policy and that is it?

    Car Insurance Roadside assistance question

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 11:37 PM PDT

Ok about 3 hours ago I was ran off the road by a speeding truck on a s curve road in TN. The car was fine as I recalled I will post photos below. However when roadside assistance came and pulled it we saw the back axle was bent possibly broken the dude who pulled me out said that when the cop left he could use the winch to straighten it back out we declined and once I got home reviewed the photos and it looks as if it was perfectly drivable before hand. Looking back I wished I put the car out of park before he towed it but I was panicking and whiged out so I didn't think of it. I filed a claim but i don't know how to approach the roadside deal. I will try to post the photos for viewing when I get back home to my pc.

Hi just got in my first major car crash :( help

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 10:53 PM PDT

I got in a car crash on monday. Everyone is fine, no one is hurt. Long story short -- I really want to know if you think my car will be totaled or if it'll be repairable. No one else is involved either. I didn't receive a traffic ticket for the accident. It's getting evaluated tomorrow but I'm just so nervous about the worst case scenario. It's a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek with about 31,500 miles on it. The value of the car is still pretty high considering it's a newer make... but the damage looks bad... and the driver's airbags went off... Or it might not be that bad I honestly don't know too much about cars. I do live in Colorado and after some research know that the totality threshold is 100% here, does that help my chances?

What do you guys think? Any insight will really help my nerves. Should I try to prepare myself for the worst case scenario or do you think it'll be fixable? If it is the worst case scenario... what should I expect? I've never gotten into a serious crash before so I just really don't know what to think or do :(

After a 4 month battle, Geico finally deemed me not at fault. Now how long do I have to wait for the At Fault drivers insurance to contact me back?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 03:44 PM PDT

Back in February I was involved in an accident involving 2 other drivers. I knew I was not at fault, and by her own report, the police gave a failure to yield ticket to the driver at fault. V1 (The person at fault) managed to convince both my insurance (Geico) and her insurance (SafeCo) that the police report was filed wrong, and both insurance companies agreed that I was at fault for the accident. I contacted a lawyer, as I knew I was not at fault and that Geico had done next to nothing to help, and while as far as I know they are still working on the case, I have received no updates from him in over 3 months, even after making attempts to contact him. The last official contact I had received was SafeCo's official statement that I wat fault back around March, and shortly after, Geico was spamming me with calls asking for me to accept the liability. I refused and after contacting the lawyer, I stopped receiving contact from either of them.

That is until sometime last week I received a call from Geico, who informed me that V1 had attempted to open an injury claim, and after a new Claims manager opened the case, they would like to get my statement again as they believed I was never at fault. I gave my statement and the very next day they informed me that after getting my statement as well as V1 and V2 statments of the accident, as well as a further review of the police report, I was no longer being held as at fault. I attempted to ask my claims manager at Geico what I needed to do then as I had spent over $2000 dollars on a rental car, and after I ran out of funds for a rental, I had to make modifications to my wrecked vehicle to safely drive it to work. All I was told is this is not being handled by Geico anymore and that I "should" here back from SafeCo.

Its been close to a week now, and while I received Geicos official judgment in the mail, I have not been able to get back into contact with my Geico claims manager, and the claims manager of the original wreck from SafeCo has also been unresponsive.

I also fear for the rest of this process, as SafeCo made numerous claims such as how they would "come out and see the damage" that they never followed through on.

Man hit my car and his insurance says his policy is unenforced?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 06:50 AM PDT

Located in California. On Friday 6/7 a man drove into my lane and clipped my driver side mirror and then drove off. I followed him home and called the police who then forced him to provide his insurance card to me. It is a Mercury insurance policy. I filed a claim with my insurance who told me I needed to file with his, when filing with his insurance (I only got as far as giving his name and policy number) I was put on hold because she said she needed to speak to her supervisor. When she got back on she told me to call my insurance company as his policy is "unenforced" and she can't help me. When I asked what that meant for me she just said to call my insurance. I have left my adjuster a voicemail and an email. I have searched online for what it exactly means when an insurance policy is unenforced but not expired and have come up with nothing substantial. My questions are what is an "unenforced insurance policy"? What does this mean for me? Am I going to end up just using my uninsured motorist coverage from my own policy? Is this guy truly not going to be liable for anything he has done?

    Collision with Body of Water

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 05:25 PM PDT

I was caught in a flash flood while driving home and ended up driving though deep water, and my car suffered some damage to the headlights that result in malfunctions and it tore off part of the plastic under the engine. My headlights are apparently super fancy and unfixable and are likely to cost upwards of $2000 to replace.

My agent (not someone I know, large insurance company that has not branch locations) just told me that since I was in the car during the water damage this can not be filed as a comprehensive or flood claim and will be considered as collision with a body of water, and an at fault accident.

I tried looking this up and could not find anything from my quick and shallow searches that would lead me to believe that that collision with body of water is even a thing. My policy states

" "Collision" means the impact with an object and includes upset of a vehicle. Loss caused by the following is covered under Comprehensive Coverage and is not considered collision : fire; missiles or falling objects; hail, water or flood;"

Am I missing something that makes my engine compartment getting wet not loss by water? Is there a way to appeal that decision?

    Thanks

Insurance won’t give my EOB to provider?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 09:10 PM PDT

Basically, my insurance informed me that my provider balance billed me over several appointments and they sent a letter to the provider asking them to reimburse me x amount. Provider contacted me asking for all the EOB's for all the dates of service "because insurance will not give it to them" so that they can investigate. Is it ok for me to give my EOB's to the provider or is that something I should keep to myself for some reason? And why would insurance not send it to them if they are asking?

    Thanks!

    Auto/Insurance adjuster.

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 08:22 PM PDT

I'm in need of advice. I got hit by a drunk driver three days ago. I have a challenger scat pack. I don't know much about this so I'm in need of all advice I can get. He is by far at fault, he has geico insurance. They sent out a adjuster a day ago to look at everything, he wrote me a check for 6k on what he could see. He insisted that he couldn't see everything and that once it got to shop he would deal directly with them as far as writing checks. I got rear ended, in a lot of my sections he put repair instead of replace. Are they required to replace the parts if I demand it or are they able to try to buff out all the problems. I feel like I'm getting played. I missed two days of work, for adjuster and going to the orthopedic. He insisted from xrays nothing was broken in lower back. But by no means did that mean I wasn't experiencing pain. He gave me a choice between physical therapy and a anti inflammatory pill. He told me to follow up for a second check up. I chose the pill and went to work next day on light duty. Insurance adjuster called me today and offered me, the wages I missed, and 750 dollars for me and wife being rear ended by a drunk driver. Does that seem like a fair payout and I feel like as days go by my back gets more and more sore, I'm going to contact my orthopedic doctor tomorrow and request that I do get that physical therapy. So basically what I'm asking is do I need to get a lawyer? My lower back is really really tight. Keeping me up at night, I'm not able to perform my job comfortably. And so on. And as far as making sure I don't get screwed by insurance adjuster.

    Insurance Investigation Question

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 02:23 PM PDT

Insurance is asking someone I know for 3 months of bank statements, call history, text message, and the cars "black box" after reporting an accident they had last week. The claim is not fraudulent, however the person is worried about handing over txt messages as they have bought weed and don't want that becoming an issue. (It wasn't the same day as the accident)

Should they be worried about this?

    Any advice for property damage?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 07:42 PM PDT

    Hi everyone!

First time real estate investor here seeking advice on my current situation:

Currently, I am renting out a 2bed 1bath condo in the Bay Area. A few weeks ago, the gutter along side the outside of my condo was damaged by a falling tree and the water went straight through the roof and wall. Now, there is black water mold in the ceiling and wall (It took the HOA about 1 week to head out to my property and repair the damaged gutter).

Apparently neither the HOA insurance carrier or my insurance plan covers this damage. The HOA also called for a company to test the level of mold that has built up, and it's pretty bad.

I am feeling like the world is crashing down on me and I will have to pay for the repairs out of pocket.

Any advice on how I should proceed?

I don't know if it's my lack of knowledge in this area but I am already thinking of switching away from AAA and then to an insurance company that actually covers this type of damage. Is that an irrational thought?

    Appreciate any suggestions :)

Questions on mileage increase on auto policy renewal

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 07:34 PM PDT

I have an auto policy, where my self disclosed mileage estimate is 5,000 (because when I first started the policy, I wasn't using my car as much and they haven't asked me to change it) but the company has me at 8,000 based on oil changes. My mileage from June 2018-June 2019 increased to 12,000 miles. But I think for 2019 it's going to be 10,500 miles.

My auto policy renews at the end of June and the premium price has already come out based on the 8,000 miles. I usually pay for the year in advance. I'm wondering if I should change my self disclosed to 10,000 miles and increase my annual premium rate or just not say anything and pay what they have now. I am due for an oil change a few weeks after I'm supposed to pay my annual premium and I'm wondering if they found out my mileage has increased to 10,500-12,000 miles if they would bill me the difference or cancel my policy or use it against me to deny any potential claim.

Thanks for any insight you might provide

I've recently fell off my parent's insurance plan and have been pursuing entrepreneurship.

Besides car insurance? What insurance plans should I have as an adult?

I'm turning 27 soon, and do live a healthy lifestyle with some body building here and there. I just got a Hospital cash benefits offer from my bank earlier at $17/mo and that got me thinking about what I should have. Any input or reccomendation is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Third parties insurance company requesting my personal details over an accident 8 months ago.

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 07:19 AM PDT

In Oct 18 i was involved in an accident that involved 3 vehicles (my fault). I drove into the back of the car in front of me and they then moved forward and bumped the car slightly in front of them. My car was a write off, the car i hit only had minor bumper damage and the third car had no damage. I exchanged details with the driver i hit and but only got the name of the other driver as she had no damage and drove off fairly quickly. I rang my insurance company and informed them of the incident. To my knowledge, It was resolved as i have not heard anything since. Now 8 months on i have recieved a letter from an insurance company saying their customer who i guess was the third driver, has claimed they were in an accident with my vehicle and have requested i ring them to pass on my name, address and telephone number.

Do i give them this information or should i ring my insurers first? I have since changed insurance company and car.

Multiple Questions about Renters Insurance situation

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 07:12 PM PDT

    Basic background:

I'm a man in his 30's. I travel for work for 3 - 6 months at a time at an assignment location, where I typically rent a furnished apartment with a short-term lease. I also am renting a room at fare market value from my parents in Florida as my primary residence/tax home, and a place to stay between assignments. I have only a few possessions at that residence. I also have a storage unit in another state. I'm getting a copy of my parents HO policy to look up their specifics.

    Questions:

    1) As a relative of the FL homeowner, would I be covered under their HO insurance? Or do I need to get my own renters insurance?

    2) If I do get renters insurance for FL, do I need to get another renters insurance policy for the assignment apartment rental on top of it, or would it be covered in the FL renters insurance?

    3) If I need to get my own rental insurance for the assignment apartments, do I need to get a new one for every move and cancel it when I leave each assignment? Will I get a refund since they insurance companies typically charge annually for renters insurance?

    4) If I put the storage unit under the home owner's name, is the storage unit covered, at least in some part, by their HO policy?

    5) If I do get my own rental insurance for either FL or each assignment apartment, would my storage unit covered, at least in some part (above the 2k included in the storage unit contract)?

    Thanks!

26 yr old, no tickets or accidents ever, driving only 1,000 mike a year in Philadelphia in an old Honda Accord. Cheap insurance options which consider this info? Quotes I’ve received are 10 times literally what my dad has paid for this car previously

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 06:54 PM PDT

As title says, hoping to get car insurance in Philadelphia shortly. I'm 26 and have never had a speeding ticket or been in any accident at all, and only intend to drive 1,000 miles a year. I've seen so many ads and read about supposedly new modern insurance coverage options which consist your scenario and offer a discounted rate but the quotes I've received are 10x what my dad has paid to insure this car. He does bundle it with other cars and a house, but I have a house and am happy to bundle it with that as well if preferable.

Would greatly appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Want to get insurance and PA plates ASAP.

First time buying car insurance and have some random questions

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 06:23 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I'm currently shopping for car insurance - how fun! This is my first time doing so as I have been insured under my parents' plan ever since I started driving, but finally want to get my own plan (aka they are gently letting me know that they are kicking me off). I have some random questions that are probably silly, but hoping you guys can help a newbie out.

Currently I rent an apartment in Orange County (CA) and live with my girlfriend, so I thought it would make sense for us to get our own plan together. We are both transplants from the Bay Area. We have 1 car each, both financed, both co-registered with our parents' names on the title and currently registered at our parents' addresses back up north.

    • Given that our car title/registration is currently at a Northern California address and we currently reside in Southern California, will this matter at all when shopping for car insurance? Do we need to have the vehicle registration address changed to our current address? Both of our addresses on our drivers licenses have already been updated to the current SoCal address, if that matters at all.
    • When filling out quote forms online, I noticed that a few insurance companies will only list my name as the "Policy Holder" when I get to the final summary page, even though I add my girlfriend's name as an "Additional Driver" on the policy. Is that something to be concerned about?
    • Last but not least, and maybe the dumbest question of them all. Am I correct in assuming that the prices I'm seeing online is the total premium per month, not the premium per driver? Meaning if I'm on X insurance site and fill out the form and it spits out a quote of $220/month, that's $220 for the both of us ($110/each if we split evenly), not for each driver? The only reason I ask is that I've gotten a pretty wide range of quotes between different companies for similar if not identical coverage levels, ranging from $190/month to $370/month, and just want to make sure that all companies are uniform in the way that they quote, or if some quote "per driver" and other quote "per plan".

    Thanks in advance!

Will an Insurance Adjuster be able to determine fault?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2019 06:09 PM PDT

Short summary of the accident: I'm driving in the passing lane (left lane) on the highway and someone tried to switch lanes into my lane when I was just passing their blind spot. The front of my car was essentially a few feet behind the front of their car. The car makes impact with the right side of my car and I swerve off the highway.

The other party said that I tried to merge into the right lane and I stated that they tried to merge into the left lane. I told the officer that I may have hit the cement divider initially, which he included in the report. This caused him to dismiss the skid marks on the road since it was "due to impact with the highway divider" I actually don't think I hit the divider since the damage to my car was minimal and no airbags were deployed.

The police report just lists both of our stories since they couldn't determine fault based on conclusive evidence. Any chance my insurance adjuster and their adjuster will come to the conclusion that it was their fault and not a "he said she said", resulting in a both equally at fault?
