    Zacks and nonsense

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 03:16 AM PDT

I have always read analyst opinions with a pinch of salt, but there is one that I haven't been able to figure out.

Everytime I open a zacks article, it contains absolute dogshit. I mean I already know where the stock opened, if it went down, or if there was an announcement that day etc. Yes zacks comes out with an article everyday reminding us of the obvious.

Today I read the following and I am glad I did coz who would have been smart enough to figure that out themselves?

Here it goes: 'The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on April 30. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.'

Would any of you had known that without reading zacks?

How to find Accurate stock Float?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 10:38 AM PDT

So I checked numerous tickers against Yahoo Finance, Finviz, Schwab, and Stockstotrade. It seems they can rarely agree on stock float. Examples:

    RHE : 1.48M (Y), 1.49M (F), 1.5M (Swb) and 16.9M (STT)

    YRIV : 37M (Y), 10.6M (F), 10.6 (Swb), 172M (STT)

    ARCI: 831K (Y), 4.57M (F), 182K (Swb), 6.4M (STT)

    MBRX: 22M (Y), 16.9M (F), 27.5M (Swb), 25M (STT)

That's just a few examples. Sometimes float information isn't shown in one or more scanners/sites. Sometimes they are all relatively close to each other, but other times the numbers seem completely random and aren't anywhere close to each other.

    DISNEY ($DIS) Earnings Expectations

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 07:29 AM PDT

Earnings come out on May 8 but can't find much on expectations.

    According to: https://www.earningswhispers.com/stocks/dis

    "-14% Expected Quarterly Earnings"

Am I missing something or is it a really good time to short $DIS?

Smoke and Mirrors: How Snap and Pinterest Hide User Attrition

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 07:16 AM PDT

Social media companies today are using smoke and mirrors to hide an important key metric. I'm going to pick on Pinterest first because the social media company recently revealed these issues in its S-1 Filing, and meanwhile, Pinterest stock saw a 25% pop on the day of its public debut. To be fair, this 25% IPO pop pales in comparison to Snap's 135% stock price increase from December lows.

I'm looking to get into this fund. I see the .04 E/R, also I see where there is a transaction fee? Can someone elaborate on what this fee is? And is it a one time fee? Also what would be the advantages over simply putting it in VOO w/ no transaction fee.

    Thanks

    Colorblind stock investors?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2019 08:14 PM PDT

Hey everyone, new colorblind investor here, I was curious if anyone is aware of any apps or programs that allow you to customize the colors of color-coded stock trend graphs. Being red green colorblind, the program I am using right now makes it a pain to try to see the difference between a large number of color oriented representations.

Still can't understand what became of my FOXA shares

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 02:01 PM PDT

Hello. Some time ago I was stupid enough and bought 3 shares of FOXA. Then, in March Disney finalized a deal and my stocks was frozen. Right now I have exactly one stock of new FOXA and about $80 gap in mind. Is this the right amount of compensation for old FOXA shares, or I should ask my broker about where is my money? And how much money there should be?

To be clear, I'm using stocks as alternative to deposit and every article or post on this topic just giving me more confusion.

$IRBT Drops on Earnings Call - Why?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 12:25 PM PDT

$IRBT fell sharply today (22%) but from everything that I can see the only people who were surprised were the analysts. It seems the company expected the growth they had and are on track for continued growth.

First quarter revenue grew 9% over Q1 2018 as expected. Q1 sell-through was good, setting us up for the higher year-over-year Q2 2019 revenue growth rate we discussed last quarter. Given our Q1 results and our outlook for the rest of the year, we are reaffirming our 2019 full-year revenue and operating income expectations and increasing our full-year expectations for earnings per share.

-- Chairman, CEO, and cofounder Colin Angle

Beyond the many quotes, a few stats that I'm reading.

    • EPS increased from $.71 to $.78
    • +9.5% YOY revenue
    • R&D expenses were up 7% YOY

IRBT has a high barrier to entry and deep moat keeping out competitors. They're releasing two new products this year, the Terra (lawnmower) and something else.

I don't see the reason why the market has dropped so far for IRBT, the earnings call seems to be right on target for what management has been saying. Is it all analyst expectations driving the drop?

I do have a stake in IRBT and obviously care. I'm not considering selling, but considering if it's time to buy more.

Opinions on FB regarding the anticipated release of Oculus Quest, Rift S, and competitors' releases in the next week?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 12:15 PM PDT

With complete ignorance of the earnings report and the impact it will have either way, what are the prevailing opinions on trading FB with the upcoming announcement of its VR suite, especially with regards to the future? Is it a good buy?

What about other VR/AR market breakout avenues, such as AUGR or other future tech ETFs? Are there any ticker recommendations or ETFs that show a lot of promising in jumping on the VR/AR industry train early?

Why do stock graphs show data before IPO

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 12:10 PM PDT

I'm trying to figure out why sometimes the stock graph on various services will show price data before a company's IPO, sometimes long before. For example, this company IPOd last year but Google's graph shows price all the way to 2007:

    https://imgur.com/a/l1DAnhT

This doesn't make sense as this particular company wasn't even founded until 2010. What is this extra data? Do stock tickers get re-used and this is data from another company? Or is it just a complete error?

If you look at Yahoo finance data, they also show data going a few months before the company's IPO, although nothing before 2018.

I see this happening fairly frequently when I look at stock data, what's going on?

    Anyone attend shareholder annual meetings?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 07:42 AM PDT

I own shares of a few companies that are hosting their annual meetings near my house. I don't own a ton of shares by any means, but does anyone attend the meetings? I was considering taking a day off work to see what one is like, but I just wanted to see if individual shareholders actually attend the meetings. I know people make a point to attend Berkshire's, but I'm talking outside of that one.

ISIN of RTW Retailwinds Inc/New York & Co

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 11:10 AM PDT

Dear fellow investors/stock specialists, I have a hard time finding the right ISIN of "RTW Retailwinds Inc", formerly known as "New York & Co". Google returns multiple ISINs, but some seem to be from before the name change, others lead to very few search results and are thus likely to be incorrect (I would say). I would like my broker to add the stock to its product portfolio so I can buy this gem.

TL;DR What is the ISIN of RTW Retailwinds?
