Would you do business with a teenager with a service business?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2019 08:35 PM PDT

I want to start a car detailing business but I'm afraid to put myself out there because I'm only 18 and feel like no one will take me seriously or give me respect because I'm only 18. Be completely honest, should I wait until I'm older?

I would like to open an Esports Hub/LAN Center down in South Florida and I was looking for suggestions as to where to begin.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:11 AM PDT

Was wondering if there were any current owners or loyal customers of similar concepts that could help me with the starting of this next business venture of mine. I have been a heavy gamer for as long as I could remember and seeing the development of the esports scene is really like a dream come true. I know I can't be the only one in my community to see it this way and I want to create a center for these people to come together and potentially benefit from one another.

I want to really make a difference in my area and provide an open and interactive environment for those with a passion in gaming. I want to help cultivate the growing esports scene in South Florida as it seems that not much is being done currently. Sadly I'm not too sure where to start.

I am currently pursuing my Bachelors in International Business and have been operating my own business, HighHorseLabs, since January of 2017. That being said, I definitely have experience when it comes to running and maintaining a successful operation I just have no idea where to start with regards to this particular concept.

If anyone has absolutely anything they could recommend or suggest I would be eternally grateful!

Do I need any special licenses to sell dry consumables (tea) private label? outside of the US, but selling in the US

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 12:19 PM PDT

I guess there are two scenarios:

    1. I have the manufacturer produce the product and package at their facilities.

    2. I take the product and package it myself.

Do I need any kind of license or permit to do this, or does that fall on the manufacturer?

I'm not in the US, but I want to sell to the US.

When writing a business plan, is there a good way to find out how much income/profit similar businesses already in existence have?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 10:25 AM PDT

Is there any publicly available info about this? Any government or chamber of commerce resources that can help? All I can think of to do is call and ask the businesses, but I can't imagine they'd want to give that info out.

What would be really great is information about similar businesses in the same area, but nationwide would also be helpful.

    Shipping frozen food cheaply

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 09:27 AM PDT

For the last 4 weeks I have been planning a frozen food product line. I have a good product with over 10 years selling it within my store but I want to be a manufacturer of said product now since it is imported from India currently.

I need your assistance with issues Im running into. I went to my local SCORE and they were of little help.

How do I approach a food distributor and how do I pay them?

Can I do a Kickstarter and would it be a good idea?

How can I ship frozen products via mail? Cheaply.

How can I get my products to Sysco or Preferred Foods?

Any help or suggestions would definitely be helpful! Thanks in advance.

How do I get started if I have some knowledge but absolutely 0 experience?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 12:33 PM PDT

I'm 24, recently got a bachelor's, and feeling pretty hopeless atm. I've always wanted to do something on my own - in other words, having my own business - but problem is, I feel like I'm too young and too old at the same time. I've been reading articles, watching videos, reading plenty of books on entrepreneurship for a really long time, but I have 0 experience and don't know where to start. I've been focusing on school and university and I have never had a job so far, so I find myself lacking actual experience.

I've recently been learning to code (front-end webdev) because I think that might help and turn out to be useful along the way, but besides that I'm feeling pretty lost. I can build basic projects yeah, but nothing huge. I'm definitely nowhere near to being able to develop a complete app.

I already have an idea of the niche I want to target, but I don't know what to do and to offer. The more I think about it the more difficult it seems to find something worth pursuing. I'm really tired of overthinking it and I'd love to take action ASAP. What should I do? Where do I begin? Should I get a job first or should I focus on entrepreneurship 100%?

    Let's file a patent

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 12:12 PM PDT

Hey all, I recently finished a book called the "10% Entrepreneur" by Patrick McGinnis, and I decided to switch back to being a patent lawyer 90% of the time, and working on my startup idea 10% of the time. I'm in the process of building content to show people that I am back in the patent business, and I thought it would be helpful to write a patent and vlog about the entire process. Most e-books use a consumer product (like a novel cup or a three legged stool) as their example, but I'd like to go through something that is a little more useful to the current tech world. Fill out my survey to show a particular technology that you are interested in and I will write an example application for the most popular technology area.

I want to expand my nature and travel photo business outside of college. I could use advice.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:49 AM PDT

I take nature and travel photos. I use them to sell greeting cards, calendars, and prints. I am in a business and entrepreneur club in college. I am looking to expand the business outside of college and sell photo murals too. One member of the club said I should create an Instagram account and try to gain followers. He said I should focus on selling my photos and goods after I gain followers. My concern is that followers and exposure alone is not helpful. Prints of the photos serve the photos better than likes online. This is in part because of the nice equipment I use and in part because it brings in money. We both agree that the business and photos must create value for others. We agree that I must balance the art and business sides. I need a website too. The last time I had a website and business pages, they did not work out because of my serious mistakes. Ideally, I would like an order fulfilment system for my goods and prints. The problem is for prints, they have resolution limits that are too low. This will create problems if I eventually shoot large format film and do 4000 dpi drum scans to extract everything. I concluded I will have to order the prints for customers who request them manually. I need a credit card processor that will not charge steep prices, especially since I'm selling cards.

I am outgoing and I introduce myself to many people without fear. I took a negotiation class and learned how easy it is to get conned into losing sight. I learned from experience to be optimistic but not grandiose in sales targets.

What advice do you have to gain a following not just for photos but also for the cards and calendars? How should I go about balancing art side with business side? How should I get the right clients to buy prints and murals using my photos? What advice do you have in general? Thanks in advance.

Should I partner with a former colleague who's just started a similar business to mine?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 04:15 AM PDT

Hi guys, I run (by myself) an online school teaching design/animation - its gathering a bit of steam and getting a few amazing reviews, though on the whole it's not earning a huge amount or reaching a huge amount of people.

A colleague from 10 years ago has spent many more years than I climbing the ladder from different studio to studio until he's at the top (think near-Pixar level studios). I saw on socials he's just started a similar business, but its looking pretty shoddy (ie. using a gmail email address instead of a proper .com etc).

I'm wary of partnerships but I'm wondering if inviting him to join my established school would mean it would attract more people to my content?

I know its a vague question but any thoughts on the pros and cons of this would be very much appreciated!

EDIT - to be clear "partner" was just a loose term. I don't mean profit split or co-host the business etc. I just mean 'join forces'.

Data-Driven Product Management Tool for SAAS Founders & Product Owners

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:46 AM PDT

Hi Reddit! I'm creating a web app for SAAS Product Owners and Founders that reconciles software feature requests with customer subscriber data and shows you the value of a potential feature.

As a career Product Owner I know the pain of trying to decide what features to develop next and having to go through reams of reports from finance, customer care & marketing - as well as the hours and hours of meetings with stakeholders without having much quantitative insights into what developing a feature will do to the bottom line. Aggregate.io aims to solve that.

By reconciling customer feature requests with subscriber data - we can eliminate the guesswork, automate your product backlog and help you make data-driven decisions on what to prioritise and develop next.

I'd really love your feedback (and help testing if you're willing!) - you can check us out at aggregate.io. I'd love to hear from you on:

    1. Do your recognise the problems I've described and am looking to solve?
    2. Would a tool like this help you and/or your teams?
    3. What tools do you use to capture feature requests and for your billing solution?

    Thanks,

    Steven

Anyone know any online fairs to exhibit fashion/jewellery?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:11 AM PDT

For now not interested in magazines and usual promotional online media. Looking for something very specific and related to the field, an equivalent to offline fairs or maybe organisations that are looking for young brands.

How are retail products traced back to the batch from which they are created?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:05 AM PDT

I have an indoor farm, and we use an internal barcoding system to track products from seed to harvest and off to delivery. That barcode gets put on the outgoing package so that in the event of a recall, we can trace the affected product back to its batch and recall all necessary products. What confuses me is how this is done at a large retail level (ex. Whole Foods or Walmart). For example, when I buy milk, there is one barcode on that carton, and I assume that every carton of milk has that same barcode. If that milk were to be recalled, how can the supplier trace the milk back to the batch it was created in? Is the batch number embedded in the barcode or some other mechanism?

    Thanks!

Do paid reviews help the business?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 01:31 PM PDT

Love it or hate it, just about every small business owner now has a business page on Yelp and Google. With 142 million unique users per month, Yelp is one of the hottest marketing spaces online, competing with the likes of Google and Facebook. According to a Nielsen study, Yelp isn't too bad at driving sales either – 4 out of 5 Yelp users stated that they visit Yelp when prepared to spend money and 35% of Yelp users will visit a searched business within 24 hours of searching.

Yelp reviews can have a great influence on your business, so it is a factor that you can't just avoid. In this case I will suggest you to buy reviews from these guys Rreviewhacking com I happened to work with them and I was really pleased with the result. They have a good pricing policy, reviews are written by native speakers and they work extremely fast.

We believe in our app idea, but we’re not sure how to market it

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 08:10 AM PDT

    Hello fellow entrepreneurs!

Last week I posted about a mobile app which I quit my job to develop, called STEPS.

The app we made is an online map that is edited and created by its users.

We finished with the first development stages and want to start marketing the app. However, we face a problem, we currently don't have too much information on the map. Just imagine Wikipedia in its first days.

Therefore, in our marketing strategy, we want to aim for users that are willing to contribute information to the map, before marketing it to bigger crowds. It's kind of an egg and chicken problem. How would you approach this problem?

Looking forward to your wise ideas 😊 (As well as idea to improve the product or to make it easier to market)

    P. S.

If you want to take a look at the app or view the last post:
