Berkshire under-performed S&P for the last 10 years Posted: 25 Apr 2019 05:09 PM PDT Buffet admits a S&P index fund is just as good as Berkshire. [link] [comments] |
Bitfinex Used Tether Reserves to Mask Missing $850 Million, Probe Finds Posted: 25 Apr 2019 03:25 PM PDT Probably the most important cryptocurrency news in a while. I imagine crypto markets will be chaotic. If you have stuff on Bitfinex or in Tether, best to get out ASAP. Don't worry about the current small haircut. Really you should have stopped using Tether a long time ago, but if you continued to use it, you should have been looking for news like this. We would expect to see a large gap in prices between bitfinex and other exchanges form. This gap is currently only 1.5%. [link] [comments] |
No value in the market anymore Posted: 26 Apr 2019 01:24 AM PDT Sky high valuations, good companies trebling in price over 5 years... how are you finding value in this market? All the stocks I want to buy are horrendously overpriced. [link] [comments] |
Intel (INTC) drops 7% after weak revenue guidance for the year Posted: 25 Apr 2019 02:54 PM PDT Intel said it expects revenue of $69B vs an expected $71B for the year. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/25/intel-first-quarter-2019-earnings.html [link] [comments] |
Buffett says investors would be served just as well buying an S&P fund as his own company's stock Posted: 25 Apr 2019 12:10 PM PDT "I think the financial result would be very close to the same," Buffett told the FT when asked if it would be better to own the S&P or Berkshire over a lifetime. As one of history's most revered money managers, the billionaire has served as a model for a generation of investors with a frugal, bargain-based buying strategy. Buffett has been candid about how difficult it is for Berkshire to match the stock market. He told CNBC in February "it has been a tough time to beat the S&P." [link] [comments] |
What was the worst earnings report for a company in history? Posted: 25 Apr 2019 09:46 AM PDT After seeing tesla losses per share, I want to know which company had the worst earnings report. I searched online, and couldn't find anything. [link] [comments] |
Does anyone know where to find Option practice problems? Posted: 25 Apr 2019 09:06 PM PDT I'm trying to find a resource that I can use in order to get a better understanding of options. I learn a lot better when I can get a scenario written and work out the problems in order to see the results. Anyone got any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Alphabet - any reasons to avoid? Posted: 25 Apr 2019 09:17 AM PDT With click share taken away by Amazon and Facebook, are there legitimate concerns for a bullish case on Alphabet? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Apr 2019 02:01 PM PDT Seems like a huge amount of subscribers aren't actively participating. Makes me suspicious of the actual number of subscribers or the efficacy/ utility of this subreddit. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Apr 2019 10:22 PM PDT Does any one have advice on RBZ? Is it a pump and dump? Or is it worth the investment? [link] [comments] |
In E*Trade, how would I set a stock up to sell automatically at a 10% gain? Posted: 25 Apr 2019 04:09 AM PDT I'm a rather passive investor- I rarely check my stock posiitons more than once a month, since the daily rise and fall makes me stressed out! I've got some stocks that are somewhat volatile (up and down a lot) and I'd like to automatically sell them when they gain 10% without having to monitor them all day. Is that possible? Posted: 25 Apr 2019 04:53 PM PDT Only recently getting into stocks more seriously, and discovered DRIP. If I'm long on a stock, is there a downside to doing this, aside from not having that money for other potential trades? [link] [comments] |
Boeing worth it in the long run? Posted: 25 Apr 2019 11:50 AM PDT |
Posted: 25 Apr 2019 07:26 PM PDT Can someone explain this to me? Who does it? How do they get access? What exchange? What stocks? Does it tend to trigger surges or crashes? I dont want to do it, but it seems like market can be manipulated, no? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Apr 2019 01:28 PM PDT I've read several comments here stating that Junk Bonds are highly correlated equity in that they react in a similar way in during both economic growth and downturn. However, which one would you say is a more conservative investment (i.e less risky)? Thank you in advance to anyone who answers. [link] [comments] |

Question about converting Traditional IRA to Roth Posted: 25 Apr 2019 03:04 PM PDT I want to switch some, and eventually all of my Trad IRA (Only about $5600) over to my Roth. I am thinking about doing it first with a stock that I'm down big on, but plan on holding on to. The idea being that whatever I gain when the stock rebounds will be tax free. I have read up a bit on it but I wanted to avoid any unexpected consequences. I know that I'll have to pay taxes on whatever I convert. Here is a statement from my Schwab account:
So it seems like I will be hit with a 10% penalty, in addition to any taxes owed. Is there any way around the early withdrawal fee? I am wondering if there are any more important details/consequences that I may not know about? Any advice is appreciated, thanks. [link] [comments] |
Over, then under $25k Day Trading Posted: 25 Apr 2019 06:21 PM PDT So my account was over $25k today and I currently have 38 day trades for the week. Unfortunately my account has fallen under $25k and I still have 38 day trades under my account. If I wait a week and make no day trades will my 38 weekly day trades be gone and be given the privilege of being able to day trade 3 times a week again? [link] [comments] |
Capturing a smaller market trend Posted: 25 Apr 2019 05:53 PM PDT How would an active portfolio manager capture a smaller market trend. For example, say that a manager had a portfolio with a 20% cash position to capture small market corrections or small market developments. Would one use futures, options, or use etf options?
