Hey guys sorry if this type of post is not aloud. Long time first time.

Always looking for ways to improve my auto repair shop and I was wondering if anyone had any stories on an experience they had with a local shop that really impressed them.

    Thanks!

Anyone here with Amazon business accounts as well as personal account? Questions about Prime

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 11:58 AM PST

Hi folks, I order a bunch of stuff for my business on Amazon. Years ago, I created a separate Amazon account under my business email and used that for all business purchases to keep things separate. I was already a Prime member on my personal account, so I shared prime to the newly created account that I was using for the business.

A year ago or so, Amazon started charging tax. So I had to convert the 2nd Amazon account to an Amazon business account to avoid this (as everything I order from them is for resale, and I charge tax when I sell it).

Looking on my Amazon business account, its asking me to sign up for a "Business Prime" trial. Thing is, I'm currently getting Prime benifits on this account (mainly the free 2 day shipping), as I shared my personal prime to this account. But looking at the business account, it doesn't list anywhere that I'm Prime (although I'm still getting the benifits) I'm thinking there is some sort of disconnect, and will eventually catch up with me.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue. What prompted this, is I'm looking at getting the new Amazon Amex business card, that gives 5% cash back on amazon. (It's only 3% if you're not a prime member)

anyone have a similar type setup?

My small business is growing and improving all the time. How can I receive a website critique from real people with real advice?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 01:25 PM PST

Hi all. This is not a ploy for traffic. I've been working on my site and I think it looks pretty good but I'm concerned about homepage CTAs on both mobile and monitor versions. I know where things are but does the first-time user? Are pages organized and easy to navigate. Seriously, I'd love help and I'm just looking for a place to get it. Thank you!

I'm on my 2nd day of a 3 day bazaar and I only have half of my rent as REVENUE.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:48 AM PST

I sell lemonades in the Philippines and this is my 1st ever bazaar. I didn't anticipate this bad of a performance for a lemonade stand in a bazaar. My prices are lower than average and the I don't think my flavors are bad because I've had some repeat customers since yesterday but that's it. There's simply no interest in trying our product.

Starting to feel a little depressed here but trying to be positive because i still have tomorrow to look forward to.

    What can we do better?

    RMA tracking software

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:33 AM PST

I'm looking for a cloud based software to track and manage warranty returns and repair jobs. We don't have a great deal of returns but we have enough that we can lose track. I've seen renewity and supportsync but they are too expensive for our needs.

Is there something that we can use to check in a return, create documents to send to our supplier and notify our customers at a reasonable price (Max $60/month)?

    Shopify or Squarespace?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 01:09 PM PST

I'm going to start my own business in a few months, and I'm unsure of which platform to use, Shopify or squarespace? I am wanting to hear from people who have used these and what they think of them. Are they working for you and your business?

I am a graphic designer, and I currently use squarespace for my website, and I do love it, but I'm not selling products. It's just a basic website for my freelance business.

My new business is selling actual products and I would like to know which you think is better when it comes to selling.

How would you, as a business owner, look at a "jack of all trades" employee ?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 03:02 AM PST

How do you as a small business owner, would look at an employee that is a "jack of all trades " ?

I.e. rapid learner, can do lots of stuff, even stuff your business currently can't do, or get knowledge your currently doesn't have but slower and since it's all new less reliable than a pro ?

Would you reward such employee in salary , or is it better to focus on one skillset - because you prefer and pay for pre-specified roles ?

How to market my petrol station business

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 02:57 AM PST

    Hi all

I need advice on marketing for my petrol station business. I sell a product which is $5 under market price in my city and it is a fast moving product but my sales are slow. I believe they are slow because I do not have enough awareness in my city that I provide this product for sale whereas my competitors have done advertising stunts like using radio, signage around the city and Facebook pages to advertise themselves. I would like to also give this a go and I want to go strong with it. What would you guys suggest are my best options to use to advertise and get my petrol station and specific product more attention in my city. There are 1.4 million people in my city and I am not from the US. The city is divided into north, south, east and west and I own two petrol stations one east and one south. I want to do advertising for both.

I am currently looking at Bigger signs on my business site Decent size Signs and banners across my city( near traffic light etc) Radio advertising Door to door flyers.

Please all advice is welcome. This is my first time trying marketing so I appreciate all feedback.

    Thanks

Putting business on hold for a year, not sure what to do with my website.

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 10:49 AM PST

I am a professional dog trainer, and I have been working for somebody else for several years to hone my skills in both dog training and in running a business. I'm ready to take the plunge and start my own place, and had originally planned on opening up in June of this year.

Unfortunately, some unexpected health issues for both me and one of my dogs have really depleted my financial cushion. That, combined with how badly the stress was impacting my health, has led me to postpone my business start date until spring of 2020.

I had done quite a bit of work on my website to get things ready for June, and there is still plenty of work to be done. I have maybe 20,000 words of content that are not published yet and are in drafts. My original plan was to spread the posts out and schedule post them as we got closer to summer. Now I am not sure how I should approach things. Should I keep the site up? Should I take it down? If I do take it down or just keep it stagnant, how close to my opening date should I ramp things back up?

No business licence without landlord approval?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 08:43 PM PST

Hi, This is my first time to the sub and I'm sorry if this information is already posted somewhere here, but FWIW I tried searching and will cross-post on r/canadasmallbusiness.

Basically, I have registered a home-based business in my province. I am the sole proprietor and it is primarily run online. I require a business licence to operate, from the city my business is registered in (where I live). But if I don't own the building where my business is located, in this case my home, I need permission from the owners (my landlord) to get the licence. However, my landlord is unwilling to give me permission to get a business licence. I can't afford to move and can't afford to rent a secondary location or proper office.

I was told I may be able to get a licence in a different city but still live in my own. For example, I live in City A and have a colleague in City B willing to let me use his place for the business location. Is this legal? I truly want to set up my business "properly" from the start, but it's really frustrating that I don't have permission from my landlord, and doubly so that since the business is online I really don't need a physical location to operate.

Do you have any suggestions (that don't involve trying to convince my landlord or me moving)? Thank you and sorry I appear so dense, this is my first time setting up a business.

    Banking Crisis - Need Recommendations

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 12:21 PM PST

Background: when I first started my (US) company, I started our banking with a local credit union. We've grown tremendously and do business and have employees in several countries, including a subsidiary in the EU. I've since permanently moved out of the United States and have full legal residence in Romania.

A few hours ago the credit union started blocking all ACH transfers out of our accounts, with the obvious impact being payroll since it is the end of the month, and are denying they are doing anything. A trusted third party that still lives by the local credit union was given full access to the accounts and full power of attorney before I left the US, but the bank is refusing to honor the POA and lost the paperwork giving them access to the account, so we cannot withdraw money via wire, check, or cash. Basically, they've locked my entire business operations and forced me to process payroll through my own personal account. Flying back right now is not an option since we have ongoing investment operations in this region that I have to oversee, so it's currently unclear how we are going to get our money out of these accounts, but I will leave it to our lawyers to figure out.

In the meantime, I'd like some recommendations for new banks that are known to be friendly to businesses like ours. I have already talked with CitiBank but unfortunately, they said I am unable to open a new US account from the office here in Romania; and from what I am seeing in my research it might be impossible (if not extremely difficult) to open business bank accounts 100% online. I feel kind of stuck here and time is of the essence, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

How do I advertise to super high net-worth individuals?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 10:10 PM PST

I book celebrity entertainment for special events (concerts, special appearances, speakers etc.) and a lot of the time my clients are the occasional multi-million / billionaires or C-level execs. Special events. Corporate events. Holiday parties. Retreats. Fundraisers. Bdays etc.

Right now I am 100% word of mouth, which has been great, but I'd love to figure out a way to market towards them in a casual way.

How can I advertise? Where can I source contact information? Or what are some flexible brands that I can partner with to get the right exposure...

I've been pondering this on and off for a while.

    Thanks!

How do I market myself as a writer/editor

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 09:40 PM PST

    Ahoy there,

I recently started advertising my services on slave labour as an editor. I had my first client and helped them write/edit some professional documents. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the client was very satisfied with the end result - they even gave me a $5 tip on a $15 project!

Now as much as I enjoy this process, marketing through slave labour is just not feasible in the long term. There isn't enough money to be made in it.

My impression is that I should set up profiles on websites such as fiverr and freelancer. I will also be setting up a professional website later this week after I take some nice headshots.

Beyond this though, how should I go about marketing this kind of service? I'm also planning on offering coaching for interviews and general presentation skills - my plan is to include this as a seperate service on the same website. Is there a good reason not to do this?

    Thanks for the help everyone!

Can Anybody Suggest a Good Inventory Management Program?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 08:16 PM PST

Currently we are using SKU Labs, but the program has glitches and isn't reliable for keeping track of inventory.

I've been looking at Cin7, which gives a lot of things beyond just inventory management that I don't need, but that costs $2000 for training and another $700 per month.

I need it to integrate with Amazon FBA, FMB, ebay, shopify, and walmart.

I just wanted to know if anyone knew of anything better before I signed up?

How do I identify if there is a market for my business idea? And how much they would be willing to pay for my service? I would be targeting offices that host clientele and similar.

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 08:11 PM PST

I have the idea of a "specialty indoor plant hire" service, where I will provide unusual plants to an office (as essentially room decoration) and provide the care.

So, I thought that offices that have like conference rooms or waiting rooms would be my target as an unusual plant may appeal to them.

How do I find out if there is any interest in this service? Is it okay to just call up and ask for the office manager?

And how do I find out how much they would be willing to pay for my service?

Help/Opinion - Inflated price + free shipping or regular price + shipping fees?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 08:06 PM PST

    Hey,

Really need your opinion, both as online costumers and as online sellers.

I think it'll be easier with an example so let's say I'm selling cakes online. The same cakes you can buy at a store in your street for 1€.

I should especify that there's a minimum order value - let's say it's 5€ (this may or not be relevant in your answer).

Now, what's the best option for me as a seller, to sell the cakes for the same value you can find them in a store (I charge 1€) plus a shipping fee (let's say around 2€) or should I charge for each cake a value that's a bit more inflated - let's say 1,20€ - with free shipping?

I know that, from a rational costumers perspective, it all depends on the ammount of cakes ordered. If you order more than 10 cakes it's better to have the shipping fee while in smaller orders it's better to have the price of each product inflated.

However as an online seller, what's my best option? What will gain me more costumers? Having free shipping and a product a bit more costy than you find in traditional commerce or have the product cost the exact same it costs in your local cake place but with a shipping fee to have it delivered to your house?

What's more advantageous for me, to be able to present a product that is economically comparable to what you would find in traditional commerce and do "free-shipping" promotions once in a while or to advertise my products and services as with free shipping while having my prices a bit inflated (but with enough brand and website design to justify the price)?

Any opinion or feedback is highly welcomed!

    Thank you

This helps each website rank higher on google . It's mutually beneficial and doesn't cost a penny. If you don't have a web developer my web developer can help .

Customizable app for tracking time, distance, work done, materials used and travel

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 06:54 PM PST

Is there any way to record this information? I'll give you a run down of what we currently do so you can get a better idea on what to suggest. It's all done on paper then submitted and billed accordingly. Start of day record what time you got in. Load truck up then travel to first destination. Record distance and time to destination. Then we test pool levels and record them (ph, chlorine/bromine, alkalinity etc) this would have to be a Customizable table. Then we have a check list of services that has to be checked off, sometimes we do a full service and sometimes we do only a few (scrub water line, vacuum pool, clean filters etc) then we have a notes section for any things we recommend for purchases or extra work done that isn't on list. Then pack up and travel to next destination calculating time and distance. Rinse and repeat. So is there any thing you could recommend to cover these? I've never told someone could make an app but with those requirements it'd be upwards of $30,000. Any suggestions are welcome
