I'm looking at Nokia, Ericsson, and Juniper, as the equipment providers, Intel and Qualcomm as the modem makers. Trying to look for those selling the shovels in the gold rush. Anything catch your eye?

SNE kills earnings, price immediately plummets 3%. Am I missing something?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:34 AM PST

Pretty new to trading, but this seems out of character. AMD matched their EPS and went up almost 6%. How come SNE went above and beyond EPS and the stock is suffering?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:26 PM PST

Officially 1st day of February today, and I can only speculate that most investors are feeling a bit better at the end of January than the end of December.

    -S&P500 index: up7.87%

    -Nasdaq100: up 9.11%

    -Dow Jones Industrial: 7.17%

Personal portfolio: up12.5% with the top 3 holdings of LRCX, SBGI, BERK.B

So how did everyone do and what are the thoughts going into the rest of the year?

    Thoughts on Cool Holdings (AWSM)

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:17 PM PST

They are a retail company worth barely under $30 million right now. They are a big seller of Apple products (having trouble finding what else they sell). Seems like Apple gifted them a deal to become the largest retail reseller of their products. Side note: They generate the second most revenue per sq ft of retail space, only second to Apple. (Cool is generating about $3,500 per sq ft. Apple is generating about $5,500). Not to mention, it was trading at over 100 4 years ago and is not trading under $3. Would love to hear thoughts on this stock

    Odd Question on Stock Certs

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:09 PM PST

Let's say you purchase a stock for $100 and then request certs from transfer agent. You receive certs and then open account at another brokerage.

Six months later the stock you purchased is sitting at $200 so you send your certs back in to new brokerage and sell them.

How does the IRS know this is a short or long term gain?

I know they can tell, but don't know how.

    Wash sale rule clarification??

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:43 AM PST

Can anyone provide clarification on whether the wash sale rule will apply to this specific scenario?

Say I buy ABC stock at $20 on Jan 1st, and I sell for a $5 loss on Jan 5th. It continued to fall and I buy ABC again on Jan 7th for $11, but due to the wash sale my basis is adjusted to $16. ABC goes up, and on Jan 9th I sell it for $25. It goes down again so I buy it back once again on Jan 15th. Will the basis be adjusted once again for this purchase?

    Advice about mining stock

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 09:11 AM PST

I`m based in Norway, and a company (Nordic mining) just got the permit for a mining project in Finland regarding lithium. They did a feasibility study, and reported that "major" profits are to be made. Now as someone with little experience, should I invest or stay away. I see no one else talking about it, is there something I am missing?

POT and your opportunity to grow

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 09:14 PM PST

I'm new to the subreddit, but I've got some intermediate investment experience. I went in on CRONOS when Massachusetts opened its recreational dispensaries. Bought in at $11.35/share and it hit $20/share today.

I feel like there is so much opportunity for profit in the marijuana industry. The more states that legalize it for either medical OR recreational use, the more supply operations have the opportunity to expand. I have seen solid growth. Anyone else?

Sorry I know that most probably has no significance whatsoever to absolutely anything, I just thought it was mildly interesting...
