Started a business and probably in over my head! (Advice)

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 12:24 AM PST

This is more of a good in over my head with a double bladed sword. Last summer I purchased a small hometown cleaning company. Barely made a dime. I switched my focus to tending to REO homes. Very first client that hired me just through some word of mouth was a multi million dollar estate. I'm in charge of literally everything. From cleaning the home and grounds to liquidating hundreds of thousands of dollars in estate belonging. I love it. However.. this is all governed by probate courts and honestly the work, although long term, is very slow happening due to court stalls/lawyers, ect. So slow to the point of taking up a part time job to sub some income. I was looking into jumping back into private home cleaning to try and ring in some business. Does anyone have any experience here that may offer some advice on the state of the industry? My problem is I have no background in this field given that the moment I took over I switched the entire business plan to strictly REO and estates. Although I want to continue with REO it seems to be ridiculously hard to get work from banks so I am stuck with only being able to get private customers looking to sell distressed homes. I've attempted to partner with companies that allow vendors to perform work but chargebacks nearly killed me instantly. (Honestly I lost nearly 500.00 from a work order because a worker left a nail in a wall) So I'm wondering if anyone here has ever done this or owned a franchise in the field. Is it worth my time to jump into an industry that may not be as needed in this day in age or stick it out and try and gain some love from the banks? Sorry if this is bit of a ramble, it's 3:30 am and I'm still brainstorming ideas. Found this sub and thought I'd give it a shot. Thanks in advance!
