How does cost leadership provide consumers with variety/choice?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 10:49 PM PST

I know cost leadership refers to a business becoming the lowest cost manufacturer in a market/industry, but how could this provide consumers with choice? Any thoughts?

Any hiring managers here have experience with Indeed? Question about legitimacy.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 12:52 PM PST

I posted the exact same job posting on Craigslist and Indeed for a new assistant for my business. In less than 2 days, I have just over 130 applicants, but nearly all are from Indeed and maybe about 10 are from Craigslist. The Craigslist numbers sound about right from posting this a couple of years ago, but this is my first time using Indeed, so who knows.

So my question is, does Indeed have a way to push fake applicants to make it seem more efficient? Or is there an "auto-apply" situation going on? It doesn't seem right and I don't want to waste my time screening over 100 applicants if majority are fake.

    Thanks!

Can I pursue business and entrepreneurship with a different degree?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 04:26 PM PST

Hey guys! As the title states, I want to pursue business and entrepreneurship, I want to start a business 5-10 years from now.

I am a recent graduate in the field of BS Information Systems and I've just been on the computer my whole life. I have decided to pursue business and entrepreneurship because it excites me.

I know I kinda chose the wrong degree but I wanted to ask for advices in what to do? Do I have to go back to school? What type of entry level jobs are best to prepare me for my own small business in the future? Will self-study with online materials and books be enough?

Any suggestions or advices would be highly appreciated. Thank you!!

My thoughts on people who want to start a business but don't know where to start

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 06:25 AM PST

    Hey all,

    Hope all is well.

It's a very common response that when I tell people that I work for myself and run my own business that they almost always respond saying, I've alway wanted to go into business. This then leads to a long discussion about business and entrepreneurship.

It's an interesting conversation and one that I enjoy having, however what is typically concluded from this is that the other person has no idea where to start. From what I can tell and perhaps reading a lot on this blog is that most aspiring entrepreneurs feel that they need capital and a lot of it, to which I respond not really. As I discussed previously about my thoughts and experiences of a business startup in 2019, starting an online website with a brand and logo is relatively seamless. As explained, this can be done in 24 hours and with all the resources available to us now online you can literally be selling something the next day.

In all honesty, it sometimes requires a little encouragement for someone to go into business and the fear of the unknown is a part of that. It's great to hear that when I mention my employment status that it motivates people to follow suit, although people want to pursue business I find that most do not really know where to begin. A situation that most do not want us to be in, but I've said it before and I'll say it again here; any idea can work providing you give enough dedication to it!

Feel free to comment and let me know if you agree, disagree or have a similar and or different perspective on the matter.

    Regards,

    An entrepreneur

What do most companies consider their top 3 assets to protect

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:00 PM PST

I guess what are most people deeming their crown jewels...or is "crown jewels" only considered IT related components?

I would imagine, data is number 1, brand/reputation 2, and People as 3?
