You Don't Need Money To Start A Business Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:14 PM PST I was inspired by a post I saw in /r/startups asking for advice about learning programming to start a startup. Instead of replying to that post, I figured I'd just type this up and share with everyone on /r/Entrepreneur People, you don't need to add more barriers to your life. If you're on Reddit, you're already smarter than like 80% of the population and can probably use Google to find anything. You're already a step ahead of most people and overthinking shit. So, instead of worrying which book you need to read next, which programming language you need to learn to develop an app, or which course will finally push you over the edge. Just do this. Read this tiny list post and see the world is at your fingertips, and most of it is free. You can start a business for next to nothing utilizing a few of these platforms. You don't need more time. You can start right now,.
EDIT: ADDITIONAL RESOURCES This list, while not definitive in any way, shows you the power of the Internet today. You can build an entire business using platforms like this and you can certainly MVP something with just a few of them. The rest is up to you. Do you want it bad enough? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2019 11:17 AM PST I have recently started to actually have some success with my clothing website and I just wanted to share the biggest piece of information I have learned from it. Be patient. I was super upset when I started my website that I wasn't immediately making tons of money even though I felt like I had a good product. I constantly looked around for advice, tweaked things about my website, and more. Eventually, even though it took lots of work, I am now starting to sell some products consistently on my store and have made a decent chunk of profit. If you stay patient with success, you will eventually get there. It is gonna take a lot of time and effort, but you'll get there. Most startups operate in the red for years, even though I'm making profit I'm still definitely in the red, but I can see the green future. Stay patient everyone. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:31 AM PST So I've been an editor pretty much all my life, and one email changed everything forever. A creator wanted my help. This has so much potential. So I started viralcarbons.com to help small and big creators focus on creating and spend less time editing. I would appreciate everyone's feedback on every small aspect as I want to ensure that the details deliver. We currently work with a number of creators, one of them who is not protected by NDA is PewDiePie! I hope that this gives you an idea of what our reach is like. Currently gaining clients through word of mouth, social marketing and referrals. Any questions welcome! Also have hireayoutubevideoeditor.com as a domain P.s this is my first post on this sub [link] [comments] |

Is there a free Facebook ad spy tool? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 12:32 PM PST Is there a way to see what the biggest facebook ads are? I know AdPlexity, but their tool costs 200 dollars a month so I'm looking for an alternative. [link] [comments] |
More than 40 users have joined my webapp Posted: 01 Feb 2019 08:01 PM PST I'm supper happy. During the last year I've been developing lots of SaaS-like projects that never took off, not even a little. Quite frustrating, you work a lot and nothing seems to come from that. A month ago in the middle of development of one of these projects and I had the need to jot down everything I had to do to get that project released. I developed most of it but the idea didn't really catch me and my motivation wore off. So I started to write down new ideas for other projects and, in the meantime, I went abroad on holidays. There, of course, I kept writing down ideas, mostly on my phone checklist application. I didn't find it particularly comfortable though, for a number of things. All my ideas were mixed, no way to order them, no real way to back them up. And most of the other alternatives I found, apps and websites, weren't really what I was looking for. Most of them were very heavy and didn't load right on my limited roaming mobile connection, or worked on a really oppressing freemium model or, after writing some things there, I started to see ads appearing everywhere trying to sell me things very similar to what I had just jotted. There I realized I could develop a solution for the problems I had and, maybe, offer it to people in the same situation. When I came back, I developed Tasksaur to fulfill the needs I had and -once it was polished enough (not finished, though)- I launched an open beta test. This was the day before yesterday. I posted about it on ProductHunt, /r/programming, /r/sideproject, /r/startups/ and some mysterious, helpful guy named David sent me these two links to other sites to share my project. Surprisingly for me, this time people started coming in! I've been getting a steady flow of ~100 visitors these last three days and more than 40 have signed up. I can't stress how happy I am! I've even received feature requests and implemented some, so I just hope this keeps growing. This article heavy inspired me, as well. I think it's worth a read, at least to inspire oneself. So... that. I wanted to share my joy and those pages, in case you are looking for inspiration or for ways to showcase your work. Thank you for reading! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Feb 2019 02:46 AM PST Hey guys, So recently, I've come to find out about Google Grants which is a sum of 10,000 USD given to non profit organizations for running their PPC campaigns. Upon further investigation, I began to see a potential opportunity forming. To give you guys a bit of a background about me, I'm an 18 year old college sophomore studying in a foreign country in SE Asia. I'm majoring in psychology but plan to integrate into the marketing field once I obtain my bachelors. I've completed the courses in Google Academy surrounding analytics and advertising and am constantly reading case studies or watching YouTube tutorials on digital marketing. The country I'm in prohibits foreign students from being employed so I don't have many options available in terms of internships or part time work. This recently acquired information concerning the Google Grant prompted me to start emailing NGOs located in my province and inform them of the potential benefits they can reap if they are to apply and implement this service. In the email, I stated that if they were to take me onboard, I'd help them apply for the GG and run their PPC campaign for them which could potentially result in an increase in donations, volunteers and overall awareness. Multiple NGOs replied within 48 hours indicating interest in my proposal and asking what information is needed of them to get the ball rolling. Upon some consideration, I chose to go with an Animal Welfare NGO and am in the process of getting them approved by TechSoup and Google as a legitimate NGO. Once that is done, we should be able to apply and potentially receive the grant of $10,000 to use for our Ads Campaign. I'm relatively excited about this recent development and am glad that I'll be able to gain some hands-on knowledge and experience for when it's time to transition into a paying role. I'll be able to fill up my resume and in doing so, give back to the community and devote my time to support a cause I genuinely believe in. It's a essentially a win-win situation. I plant to start figuring out the logistics for running a non-profit campaign and determining all the goals as well as establishing a proper sales funnel (although we'd technically not be selling anything) next week. I could definitely use some advice from anyone of you guys as to how I should set this campaign up and what to look out for in terms of running PPC ads for NGOs. I'll be keeping y'all updated. Posted: 02 Feb 2019 01:47 PM PST Hello all! My name is Devin Wood. As most of us are in this subreddit, I am an aspiring entrepreneur and business owner. One week ago I opened up my first official online store. Containing a mix of dropshipping items and wholesale items I've ordered to have on hand, this store has started coming together nicely. My social media influence is growing at a decent rate and I'm averaging about 100 sessions per day on the storefront. Traffic is steady enough and the ad campaigns are collecting for my pixel. My biggest question is: have I setup my website for proper conversions? Wouldn't we all like to know... I did post a few days ago to r/dropshipping however I've tweaked many things in the past couple days. As well, there is a much larger audience here than on the other sub. I would absolutely love it if a few of you could inspect my website and give some proper feedback on item descriptions, product placements, and any other hiccups you see. Don't forget to say some nice words also if you like something! Wishing everyone the best on their present and future endeavors, Devin [link] [comments] |
How would you reply to this AppStore review? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 06:14 AM PST My app was recently featured on the Today tab by Apple and that led to a spike in the number of downloads - however, I got one pretty nasty review that doesn't reflect the reality, it feels like a hate review — and I honestly don't know what should I say in the reply. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |

21 years old wanting financial freedom Posted: 02 Feb 2019 12:40 PM PST Hello!! I'm a Portuguese young male with a small 21 years of life experience that wants to succeed in life. I'm still studying here in Portugal, finishing my last year of Management graduation, but I dream about being someone with a passive income in the next years (and when I say 'passive income' I do really know that it takes a lot of work and dedication). So, in last August I was introduced to Dropshipping, a low investment retail opportunity and have been studying all about the subject, even starting a new store that I could only maintain for 1 month, when I realized that I needed some capital in order to maintain it and market the products (that my +/- $100 working capital wasn't enough) So, at the start of this scholar year, I had a goal of getting a part-time job to be able to increase my capital and savings and then to invest in dropshipping. As I study abroad (my family lives on a Portuguese island and I study on the mainland), I managed to get a job at a bar/restaurant just near my home. I worked (and still work) there at the weekends. At the start I was doing Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 19 pm to a little over 0h00pm so mostly 6hours/night and earning 25€/night. I did succeed a lot there, as I always remember this Zig Ziglar quote "Do more than you are being paid to do, and you'll eventually be paid more for what you do". My boss then started to like my work and I was moved to the bar part of it and began doing more and more hours per night while still being paid the same and seeing other workers being paid the same and getting off work much sooner. I never said a word and always believed in hard work. I have saved a little over 1200€ but I have bought some stuff I wanted/needed like some football jerseys, and some nonfiction books to educate myself financially like 'Rich Dad Poor Dad', 'The 4-Hour Workweek' and many others (I have a goal to read 12 of these books by this year). Now, I'm really getting tired of the work, working as a slave, not being able to be with my friends on weekends or barely do something else, and to worse it all, not being able to be with my family to explain what I'm getting through. I can't imagine being in this Rat Race my whole life. As my dropshipping project, I managed to get some courses for free (EcomBeast 2.0, Sebastian Gomez, ...) and still studying all the process and things and my plan is to use ~1000€ of my savings to be able to in 1/2 months completely quit my job while still making ~200€ per month on this. The thing is I'm now used to having money and as Robert Kiyosaki says, the two emotions that get people to work for money are fear and desire - I now fear to quit my part-time (which in the first place I never needed) and not having money for my own things (desire) and also fear that I can't succeed at dropshipping (because yes, I know there are loads of disadvantages and thing could not work for me). So now I have to go to work, work for some 6/7 hours to win 25€ so I can save or use in something I want, not the life that I know I can make. I don't want to be money rich, I want to be free financially and financially intelligent and I know I can make it. Any advice or suggestion would be great, thanks. [link] [comments] |
Advice on getting in front of HOA/residents in neighborhood? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 12:12 PM PST My family runs an HVAC company in the Carolinas. Lately I've been thinking about offering a group discount on our preventive maintenance agreements - for example, $10 off if we can get a commitment from 10-19 houses in the neighborhood, $20 off 20+ homes. The agreements range from $149-219 so it's a pretty decent deduction. My biggest problem is getting in front of people in these neighborhoods to make them aware of the promotion. Has anyone done anything similar and had any success? [link] [comments] |
How to motivate an employee to be more of a self-starter/problem-solver? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 08:02 AM PST My partner and I own and operate an art gallery in the US. We currently have two employees. One is great and consistently comes up with ways to help the company on his own (even in small ways, like new window displays and planting flowers out front), but the other employee is constantly coming up with excuses to not be able to do the work we assign her. We've gotten to the point where we give her a specific bulleted To Do list for each day she is at work, else she literally sits around and goes on Facebook all day (even though there are multiple tasks she should be working on daily, which we have communicated to her repeatedly). The To Do lists have helped somewhat, but any time she encounters a roadblock to a task she quits instead of trying to think of a solution. Obviously, the 'easy' solution would be to fire her and replace her with someone better (we have a growing list of people waiting for an employment opening with us), BUT she is a friend and has been with us almost from the beginning, so termination is low on our list of preferred options. In hindsight, we probably made a mistake hiring a friend, but at this stage in the game almost all of the people we have worked with - as employees, contractors, and artists - are friends or acquaintances. Does anyone have any advice on how to motivate her to be more solution-minded? Or should we just continue to struggle until we can't take it anymore and replace her? I'd love to hear some advice, anecdotes, and/or personal experiences. My partner and I are both first-time business owners, so we are learning as we go, which has absolutely made us be more lenient with our employees than most people would probably be in a situation like this. But this specific problem has been ongoing for about a year now and our leniency has worn thin. Thank you for any help and input! [link] [comments] |

Is r/entrepreneur interested in hiring a content writer for free? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 11:05 AM PST (i don't think this is against the rules but let me know if it is, thank you) Hi, everyone. I am a full-time content writer with a background in content marketing. I've worked with clients from different parts of the world, offering their products and services in different industries. I've done blog posts for small businesses, opinion pieces on upcoming technology, developed storylines for video games, newsletters for entrepreneurs, and a few other things. And during this time I've noticed one thing. Business owners are always afraid of hiring the wrong person. That's why they ask for past work and sometimes a paid sample. Well, how about something better. I am offering my services for free. I will write 300 words for you. It could be a press release, a blog post, the first page of your novel or the first mission in your video game. However, this offer does not include website copy. You can learn more about my myself and my services in this post here. Why Am I Doing This? You might guess it's for my portfolio but I already do have a portfolio. No. I am doing this based on a fundamental business strategy - the penetration pricing strategy. It's when you launch your product at massively discounted rates and then slowly increase the price as you gain market share. I am doing a similar thing. This is my way of hiring clients. My goal here is to write 300 words for you, impress you with that first order and make you a regular client. No strings attached. It's all out there. Feel free to ask me questions about this offer in the comments section or through a Direct Message. You can also email me at contact@thewriterman.com Also, here's my website: https://thewriterman.com/ [link] [comments] |
What would tell you a “making money online” course is not just BS? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 10:22 AM PST I've made some money online and wanted to sell my knowledge along the way as a means of diversifying my income (even though I'm earning a healthy amount from the stuff I'm going to teach). Obviously, however, many people have created online courses which teach people how to make money whilst it's clear that - even after following the course - no student could succeed with the methods taught. This makes it hard to stand out as someone legitimate here, as I really did accumulate some interesting and specific knowledge I wanted to share. I developed my own framework which worked for both myself and a friend of mine who ran an independent online venture himself and made money using the same techniques. I'm not going to plug it here (because I'm not using this as a backhanded hidden marketing post), but I really want to know: What would tell you that a course like this is something you'd actually consider taking? As opposed to "just more courses from people who don't know how to make money from what they're teaching". What sorts of specific things would you like in an ideal version of this course? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 09:20 AM PST Hey! Just got an idea for a side hustle and want to hear what you think. You know these cool and educational desk models of things like clock mechanisms, motors and sterling motors? A common thing for these models beside being cool is they are hella expensive. They are usually made in very high quality materials. Now the price limits the audience quite alot, a functional model of a clock mechanism is cool and all but it's quite few people that want to pay 500 bucks or more for a toy. Now here's the idea: Many of these kind of toys can be made by 3d printing, now while printing is slow and can be a limit if the product is selling it has 0 upstart costs. A 3d printed model of a turbine engine etc would probably be able to be sold for 1/25 the price of a metal one. What do you think ? [link] [comments] |
